I had two separate interactions at two different locations & both times were the complete opposite of that. As a young woman with minimal knowledge of car servicing, vehicle maintenance is already more challenging & intimidating to navigate alone & that's something everyone in this industry is well aware of. Instead of being met with patience or friendliness, I was met with disdain at every turn. Both locations & two different reps that were unhelpful, unfriendly, & uninterested. They've been in business since 1921 on the idea that "the key to business is always doing right by your customer." At both locations, that principle was nowhere to be found. A mission statement means nothing if your people have no interest in upholding it. I came in ready to spend money on a repair & getting basic information was like pulling teeth & they gave off the impression they just don't want to deal with people. called Mavis Tires & immediately met with a helpful, knowledgeable rep who cared, was eager to get me in, & even offered transportation services during the maintenance period. Stephanie almost got me good! As soon as I dropped off the car, she told me my suspension was making the tires couple and that for $35 they could check it out. I showed up there to get my brakes done and they wanted double what auto solutions on Lee Road wanted. The only useful thing they told me was that my oil filter cap was cracked from the guys over at Valvoline. Stephanie wanted me to pay almost $800 just to get my front brakes and rotors done hours, including a $50 off coupon. She also wanted me to sign up for Synchrony Bank - auto solutions charged me $431 and told me my suspension was just fine. read more

This place sucks! The front desk worker was rude! I walked in with a smile in my face and walked out pissed! When i walked in the front desk worker ( bald/ old white guy) wasnt on the phone. He was pissed i was even there! Anyway, the phone rang and he answered. He was on the phone for a long time. I said to myself no problem I can wait. Then the other line rang and he put them on hold while he was still on the phone. When he finally hung up on the first call, I thought he was going to help me but nope he answered the other call. Do not bring your car here. Please take your car to any place but here! Phil and Dave are extremely rude. I took my boyfriend's car here for an estimate and they called back the day after to tell me that he has to pay $1500 to get his breaks fixed. 2 minutes after the phone call he called them back to tell them he's going to take the car somewhere else and they said he can't do that. They said if he wants the car he has to pay almost $200 for a service fee when his car didn't get serviced. Phil and Dave said that if he wants the car he'd have to dig in the trash to get the breaks/rotars and to bring a tow truck because they refuse to put the pieces back together. He acted so clueless like he couldn't help me after I told him I booked for the time I came in, I only needed an oil change & I arrived at my scheduled time. BEWARE! BAIT AND SWITCH PREDATORY BEHAVIOR. Worst service ever. We got a nail in our tire and needed a temporary plug to get us to our new tire install next week. A very very large, bald, caucasian employee with moles all over his face (he did not have a name tag or name on his shirt) came out with his clipboard and assessed our tire and the nail in it, he wrote a bunch of stuff down, took our keys, and told us it would be about an hour wait to have a plug put in. So we waited for over an hour with our two toddlers. After that VERY long wait, the same employee came out and informed us that the tread was too low on our tire and that we would have to buy a new tire from them. We explained YET AGAIN (we had addressed this at the original assessment) that we already had new tires and we just needed a temporary plug.) The employee refused to put a plug in and said that we would need to purchase a new tire or leave with the nail still in. He cited "safety issues". This is EXTREMELY PREDATORY BEHAVIOR because this information should have been given to us at the INITIAL ASSESSMENT. IF IT IS TRULY PEPBOYS POLICY TO NOT PUT A TEMPORARY PLUG IN A TIRE WITH A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TREAD, THEY NEED TO GIVE THIS INFORMATION AT THE BEGINNING AND NOT AFTER A CUSTOMER HAS WAITED FOR OVER AN HOUR WITH THEIR TWO SMALL CHILDREN. It takes very minimal effort to measure tire tread with a ruler or with your eyes at the initial assessment and help a customer understand their options. Instead of being provided this small courtesy, we were forced to wait for over an hour while our car was up on the lift and then after we were feeling a bit of desperation from the wait in a small space with two restless kids we were purposefully put position where we felt coerced or extorted into purchasing additional goods and services in order to leave. I will never take my vehicle to a Pep Boys again. I went in for an oil pan gasket, they quoted me way above average. I paid for the diagnostic and took vehicle home. I went to another mechanic to do oil change, oil filter, and gasket for $250. When I tried to leave 2nd mechanic, transmission would not engage. I had no previous issues or indications or symptoms of transmission problems. The new mechanic checked transmission fluid and found there was none- bone dry. I talked to 3 mechanics, several friends, and the tow truck driver- they all said confirmed that PepBoys is notorious for draining fluids of customer cars especially if you don't pay for their inflated prices. Wow. I cannot stress enough- do not go here. read more

A Disappoinment! I left Firestone because they are not very accomodating with time and with fair customer relations. I attempted to try another shop that is close to my house hoping to find a decent mechanic in the area that I could trust, and Pep Boys came up on my search. The battery light indicator in my car was an alternator malfunction it was confirmed by Pep Boy's tech upon inspection. They informed me that there is a leak in the gasket cover that is dripping to the alternator that caused it to malfunction. I was then informed afterwards on the estimate cost of $457. Since the average repair was along $400-$800 according to Google. We confirmed to go ahead and start on the job. But then, they(Pep Boys) called again stating that they had made a mistake on the price and the labor was not inlcuded. The total price now is almost $1,300!! That was a big sticker shock! It was $700 for the alternator repair and about $600 for the gasket repairs. Never imagined it would be this costly. Since the car that needed repairs is used for our livelihood. We have no choice but to get it fixed and borrow money from the bank and tally it up with what remains in the savings bank to get it by. The repair was made a day later than it was promised due to a negligence by the mechanic breaking the radiator hose or something and they need to buy a part delaying it further. Upon pick up of the car. I spoke with Phil and Kirk who was at the counter at that time about the repairs. I have asked if they have found the leak and repaired it, and also asked If they've cleaned the engine to locate the leak. Kirk said; "We don't clean engines here. We don't have a chemical here to clean engines. It is not something we don't do." To my surprise, I replied, "How did you fix the leak if you didn't wipe clean the engine"? Then Phil interjected and started talking about "gravity" how oil tends to drip down and that's how they know. blah blah blah! At this point I am skeptical now on what kind of repair this people did. Then I asked if they can show me the repairs they've done, and I was confronted with words of discouragement. Saying that, I will not see anything of the repairs made and it seems to me, they don't want to leave the comforts of their counter. At this point, I have heard and seen enough deceit at one encounter. Upon leaving the parking lot I noticed the code of the car was needed to be inputed and I am already dreading to go back in that office. But, I have to, to get the code. And as expected, zero help. The following morning the battery light was coming on and off again and I have to return it to the shop. Upon inspection they had installed a bad alternator and have to replace again with a new one, and on top of that, they found another leak that is dripping into the brand new alternator!! Now, Phil who talks about gravity, educating me how everything drip/falls down. Has now to come up a story how the new leak that they have found is above of the cover gasket that they have previously repaired. Imagine that! "Gravity" and yet they missed the oil dripping from the oil control valve which is ABOVE, again ABOVE the leak previously repaired!?! I don't mind paying. As long as you do the job right and don't think of me as a fool! It is insulting! Pep Boys want $400 to repair the new leak and wants me to pay another 'labor cost' for a repair that should have been dealt with in the same area in the beginning (if they wiped clean the engine) I wouldn't mind paying the parts but not labor. I left and took the car to a Mom & Pop shop. They offered me a dye to trace the leaks. Total fix of all the leaks- $500.00. And I found a mechanic that is informative! PS. By the way. Longwood Auto Fix recommended using brake fluid as an engine degreaser/ cleaner. A very informative tip just in case Kirk from Pep Boys don't know that and their shop badly needs one. You see! You inform people not misinform and decieve them to steal their hard earned money. read more

I have an online appointment yesterday for an oil change at the Forest city location in Altamonte Springs, Florida for 9:30am. I arrived there before 9am. I have to work at 3pm so I'm thinking there is PLENTY of time for them to work it out. WELL GUESS WHAT? AS OF 3:54PM, my Kia Soul is still there. I didn't have a choice but to hassle my husband who is also busy to take me to work. My husband dropped by there at 2:40pm to pick up a baby car seat from my car, and he found my car on the same parking spot. IT HAS NOT BEEN MOVED NOR EVEN STARTED. I was pleasantly surprised when the manager cheerfully said that he could Mount and balance a tire for me even though he was completely booked! He made room for my car then completed the job himself! If I was able to leave zero stars I would. I was told that they had no record of my 9 a.m . appointment(showed emailed confirmation)and I would have to leave the car. I was told it would be done in a few hours, early afternoon. Called at noon to get a time and they refused to give me one, only stating that it would be done today. Drove up there at 2:30 only to be given the same response. Called again at 5 and still only given the same response. They kept my car for their last appointment and did not finish until 6:52 p.m. They close at 7. Could not pick up that evening due to the extreme inconvenience. 24 hours later I finally got my car back. Absolute horrible customer service. I will never return to this location nor recommend anyone to Pepboys ever. read more

TL;DR - great service; accurate time, price, and store stock estimates. I recommend scheduling an appointment online. You don't have to pay before, you can schedule the appointment and select to pay in store. I'm pretty sure the pay in store option reserved product/items for you. I scheduled an appointment online for 4 new tires that were only in stock at this location, on the day of my appointment I received not only a call to confirm my appointment but that I was going to the correct location and if I had directions or needed any help. I told them over the phone that I was on my way and was only about 25 mins away. About 40 mins later, I made a few wrong turns and they called again to just check that I was doing okay since I said I was on my way! Customer service unmatched! I arrived around 11:30am and the check in process was extremely smooth. They gave me an estimate 1-2 hours for tire change and alignment so anywhere between 12:30-1:30pm and I got my car back a little after 1pm so the estimate was correct. Car drove great afterwards and I definitely noticed an improvement! read more

Iv been going to this Pepboys location for years, and serviced 3 separate vehicles countless times with them. After this expends, I will not be stepping foot into this, or any other pepboys ever again. I had an appointment on Thursday june 24, 2021 at 9:30 AM. I arrived there at 9:15. I spent over 2.5 hours waiting for an oil change and a tire rotation. During these two hours, they accepted at least 3 other walk ins, without appointments. All 3 had their issues fixed and left while I was still waiting for basic service to my vehicle. After 2.5 hours of waiting, Philip, the pep boys employee, comes to tell me that the tier rotation "can't be completed" due to an "issue with my tires". He gave me a long list of "repairs" that need to be done to my vehicle, which would cost a whopping $2791! I waited 2.5 hours for an oil change, and List of "needed repairs", while others walked in without appointments and left. A few days later I took my vehicle to another repair shop, looking to get a tire rotation done and showed them the list of " needed repairs" that Philip from pep boys gave me. They inspected the car and after about 45 minutes, he came back telling me that he was able to complete the tire rotation without any issues. The most interesting part was that he looked over all of the "needed repairs" and after seeing my car, he told me that not a single one of those items is needed, just a few were recommended, and that the entire list of repairs wouldn't cost more than $600. Big difference from $2800. So pep boys, took 2.5 hours to change my oil, and come up with a long list of unnecessary repairs and astronomically high prices. Finding a decent, honest mechanic can be very stressful. Many people have horror stories about visiting the wrong shop. Fortunately, I came across this particular Pep Boys at 710 State Road 436, Altamonte Springs, Fl. After calling several Pep Boys I found this one the best customer service ever...my decision to come to this shop was the treatment I got ever over the phone, then they went above and beyond to getting the tires, plus a discount....whohooo! Everything was so smooth that I was impressed, I have no complaints, they gained a client. After that I went for an oil change and tires rotation, and once again super satisfied, the mechanic check everything and more and he answer all my questions, very professional and friendly. So after a couples of months, this was yesterday, I had to called them to see if they can take a look at my car to see if a have a oil leak, without hesitation they said yes, I was planning to leave the car until the next day, once again they were okay with it. They called me the next day to let me know they don't see nothing wrong with my vehicle. With that been said, I can say they are very decent and honest people. Finally, I recommend this Pep Boys, all their employees are wonderful, professional and friendly, they make everything so easy and I thanks them for that. I've always had great service here, and I don't feel like I'm being screwed over with car repairs. I'll check with people that know cars a lot better than me and they say "Yea, that's about what that would cost!" There are certain things Pep boys won't charge labor for, too, which is nice. If my check engine light comes on, they will tell me what it's for without charging me and ask before they do any work. They also get everything done in great time! I would definitely suggest getting a Pep Boy rewards card. I know bombardment of emails can get annoying, but when you get a nice discount coupon in your email it really helps! read more

Jose set up an appointment for my car, when I walked in at 5PM. The shop closed at 8 PM that night, and the service I needed was a two hour job. He promptly got my car taken in and work was started. I forgot my coupon at home, and he even went on his phone for me to find the coupon and used it, so I could get the deal I came in for. Wes and his team have been great with my flat tire issues. The first time I came in was after the TPMS sensor had broken off. They replaced it and had me out quickly. The next couple times (within that same month), I had a slow leak in my tire so the filled the tire lbs with air (no charge). This last time, I came in the took the tire off and dunked it in water finding a tiny piece of metal. They fixed it (NO CHARGE) and had me out the door much quicker than I would have thought! If there end up being more troubles, I have every confidence I can come back and they'll work hard to figure it out. read more

When I made an appointment to have a new tire put on my car, I asked for a Cooper tire. The guy said he had a tire of a different name that's made by Cooper and he'd reserve it for me. They ended up putting on a Cornell tire which is made by Bridgestone. I have no problem with that brand, but he clearly lied and told me what I wanted to hear. More annoying, the tire isn't a whitewall like the other tires on the car. I didn't even notice because I was distracted by some damaged paint that turned out not to be their fault (although I suspect they lied about it). It's not worth my time to go in and wait for a whitewall to be put on even if they'd do it for free, but it's annoying. They probably knew very well that the tire didn't match, but they didn't ask me about it because they didn't want to risk loosing the sale. This may not be fraudulent, but it's certainly dishonest. This may be average behavior for auto mechanics these days, but I'm going to try another place next time my car needs service. At least the work was done correctly and in a reasonable amount of time. read more
