I recently inherited a 2004 Toyota Camry XLE with over 255K miles that had been sitting in a Los Angeles storage warehouse for about 3 years. After driving it around Los Angeles for a few days, my husband felt we should ship it or tow it with a rented truck and car carrier because of its age, mileage and not knowing the car's mechanical and repair history, which makes a lot of common sense but was cost prohibitive. Because of my sense of adventure, I talked him into a one way road trip from LA with the car after promising to have it evaluated with a reputable mechanic once we got home. We drove it to Orlando after buying it a new battery, windshield wipers and got an oil change. I had seen a lot of positive Nextdoor posts about Mike the Mechanic in Winter Garden, so I went there yesterday for a detailed inspection because of things we noticed about the car during the road trip home. When I made the appointment with Brad, he told me to bring him a list of things I thought needed special attention in addition to the general inspection. After doing so when I returned on appointment day and after the mechanic's inspection, Brad sat down with me and patiently explained to me in terms I could understand line by line what all his mechanic said was wrong, including the function of each part, to the point it just didn't make sense to spend any more money on the car, especially since the worst problem was a fuel line leak, which explains the constant smell of gas in the car that I dismissed as accidental gas spill before we took possession. Needless to say I was shocked because we never saw any exterior floor leaks after parking the car wherever we went but somehow miraculously made it home safely by the Grace of God, sometimes driving on I-10 with speeds over 80mph in Texas. All of the other things wrong were fixable but the cost of fixing EVERYTHING would equal the cost of 3 of the same type used car. I've heard so many horror stories about how mechanics take advantage of women, so being an elderly woman I was very impressed and appreciative of Brad's (and the mechanic's) honest assessment because to look at the car and the fact it was driveable for such a long distance on the highways over a week, you would never know so much was wrong. He also suggested that if I am interested in buying a used car, bring it in for an inspection for free before signing on the dotted line. Saying all that to say I won't be using Mike the Mechanic or any other mechanic to work on my unsafe inherited car but will use him for our other cars. HONESTY is their virtue so quality is a given. My husband received a recommendation from a friend to check out Mike's as I had a light on in my Hyundai Tucson. From heading over to AutoZone, they had indicated that it was my gas cap. After switching out the gas cap, the light still didn't go off. We scheduled an appointment with them and they were kind and quick to get us in. My husband dropped off my car at 2:00pm on a Friday and the place was packed! That's always a good sign as others are using them, too. They were prompt in getting us in, communicating with us, and fixing the issue. In addition, they didn't even charge us because it was simply just resetting the light. Last month I took my car to Mike the Mechanic to deal with my car overheating. I had been referred there by a friend and when I read the reviews they seemed like a good choice. They diagnosed my car with having a bad thermostat and replaced the whole thermostat assembly to the tuned of $850. They had my car for 1 week due to ordering an original part from Hyundai during which time I rented a car. When I picked up my car I asked Patti, Mike's wife, if they had checked everything else to make sure the overheating had not caused any other problems in the engine and she assured me they had. 2 weeks later I was driving from Clermont to Valrico and my car overheated. I had to pull off at Plant City and park the car and have someone drive 51 miles to pick me up. Since Mike the Mechanic was closed on the weekend I had to wait till Monday to contact them. They had no towing service so I ended up having to pay $250 to have my car towed from Plant City to Winter Garden. When they examined my car all they could tell me was it was internal engine problem which they couldn't work on and referred me to another mechanic in Eustis. I had only driven my car 161 miles from when they fixed it. All they could tell me was they did a pressure check and everything was fine. They took no other responsibility. Didn't offer to refund any of the $850 I had paid them or help with the expense of the towing back to their facility. I trusted them as the are the mechanics. Very nice people but will never take any vehicle back to them to work on. Ended up trading in my car. read more

The customer service her was par excellence! I took my F150 to them for diagnostic check on what I perceived to be a fault in its engine. They called me early on the day it was dropped off. Communicated with me it was a transmission and they could not repair. Gave me a referral to a Transmission shop. But the awesome thing they did a test drive, they did an engine diagnostic, and then told me they here was no charge for their time and diagnostics. A true honest mechanic! I took my Lexus to them for routine maintenance. I asked them to do the items recommended in the Lexus maintenance manual. It did not include an oil change. They did an oil change anyway and over tightened the oil drain plug, cracking the washer and creating an oil leak. They also didn't rotate the tires because they couldn't find the locking lug nut device, which Clark Tires found in 2 seconds. I will never go back. read more

WHAT A CLOWN SHOW THIS PLACE IS ! Took my son's truck in for tire rotation, oil change, slow leak in radiator and right rear tail light not working. Three days later I picked up the truck. I'am 5 miles away from the shop the truck just died. I called the shop and they sent the mechanic out. He was able to get it started and we went back to the shop where he blamed someone else for not filling up the radiator. Once again on the road. I am just about home and the air-conditioning stopped working which I had no problem with before dropping it off, then my neighbor pulled up to tell me my right back brake light was not working. After all this, I began checking and to realize they never even rotated the tires. Apparently MIKE THE BIG TOP RING LEADER, only stops in to make sure the CLOWNS he hired are there for the day, and with no parental supervision. I know we are all affected by COVID right now and the fact that I called around not only to try and get a good price but to get the feel of the place from the conversation, Mike The Mechanics blew me away. They were friendly, gave me a quote, told me to go in at 3:30 to have the ABS whee speed sensor replaced, I showed up on time, got me Jeep out of there before they closed even though they ran into an problem. Which I expected, being that the Jeep was up North for a bit I know salt rust stuff in place and corroded some as well. They did a great job. Had an issue that blew a fuse when I turned the key. He could have sold me a new starter, new relay but no, they were honest. A wire rubbed up against a heat shield. If I have to give 100 stars to this company I would. A couple of weeks back I took my son's car for a quote. Used a transportation company for relocation and they damaged some under the car. You could see something hanging from the bottom of the car. Mike took a look at it and said that it needs a couple of screws to put it back in place. Once is all done he said "all set" I took my credit car out to pay to the guy that was behind the desk and he said "there is no charge ". I was speechless. Thanked him and left the shop! Again on 8/15/19 my son took his car to him to fix the cigarette lighter. Mike told him that there's a problem with the fuse. He fixed it right away. Again he said to my son that it was nothing therefore no charge. I have never seen someone soooo honest and not hungry for money. I encountered so many mechanics who were unreliable and dishonest. All they wanted was to rip you off. This place is unique so I would never go back to any other place then Mike the Mechanic. I will promote his place to my friends and family. AMAZING and HONEST! We called last week after Honda told us ouR 2007 needed a complete A/C overhaul for over $1700! We scheduled a diagnostic test with Brad after speaking on the phone (and he gave me an initial quote of $1,100 which was already much less than Honda). Upon looking at the car in person, the team realized the fix was an $11 connection that was missing! My 2010 Hyundai Elantra battery light came on dashboard. Replaced with new battery, yet my battery light still on. The alternator was removed & bench tested as good. Once alternator re-installed, battery test and fuses, and circuit test completed good and charging system verified for 5 minutes - then battery light comes on. Battery was being drawn down. Mike The Mechanic front desk quote new battery, ($140) new alternator ($413) and new blower ($287) over phone with out ever having a mechanic review it. The battery just purchased December 2022 new with receipt in glovebox. The Valeo alternator still under warranty. The issue resolution they said was electrical short by the blower motor (which was disasembled) and my own junkyard connector, said it was overloaded yet no fuse blown? I was charged only $47 labor, which tells me they most likely spent 30 minutes on it and they used the same connector :( No one ever did a battery draw test, when asked the front desk he did not know what a parasitic draw test was. They replaced a perfectly good blower (which they trashed and would not return to me.) I felt inferior and his condenscending remarks when ask questions. It was quite embarrassing. read more

I had been to three OTHER mechanics for a problem with my vehicle, and all anyone would do was rip parts out and spend labor hours. I can't say how happy I am to have found Mike the Mechanic. He has excellent focus and was able to narrow down the possibilities of a cause of a problem to only one thing. It was not an easy diagnosis, but he took the time to solve the problem. After getting a third inspection on brakes and an estimate from another mechanic, I got back with Mike. He changed the one part that needed further work and updated pads and rotors from my warranty with no charge. Although a lot of time and effort went into getting the car correct, I must commend Mike for making good on his work and good customer service in fixing my problem finally! I'd give him my former 5 star rating had this been a quicker fix for me- however regardless I would recommend Mike in the future to anyone needing a good mechanic. read more

I am not going to leave a 1 star review as I did not go there. This review is solely based on my conversation with the girl that answered my call. I asked if they can do an oil change on my car. Her reply was just come tomorrow morning at 8. At that point I said again can you do it on my car. It is a Porsche Cayman. " oh let me check'' was her response. She came back and said yes. I then asked how much would it be. Her response was " what type of oil do you use" That was enough for me to go elsewhere. You can only use a synthetic oil on these cars.....
