Came to this place twice in one weekend while caring for a sick parent. Both times the staff were super friendly and patient with me as I figured out my order. The breakfast wrap was delicious and they were willing to accommodate my dietary needs by removing dairy products. I also enjoyed the smoothies and my matcha latte. The cold brew tasted stale and as someone who has made plenty of it, I'm betting the container wasn't airtight to brew or the lid was cracked. Either way I just asked for some more milk to cover the taste. Employee dismissed my concern because it was just made. Then poured me an entire new coffee (despite me asking him not to) from the same container of cold brew (like I wasn't going to see? It was right in front of me) LOADED it down with sugar and milk and then insisted on watching me sip it to ask "better?" Overall it was rude and made me so uncomfortable when I was just asking for a bit of milk. Worst of all, it still tasted stale. I literally spent 7$ for something I tossed despite how badly I needed the caffeine for my workday. Waffle was rly good tho. read more

One of my new favorite coffee shops in Durham. It is close to Southpoint Mall, which is a PLUS for me. I got the Vanilla latte and it was so tasty. I also tried their apple pastry and it was rich and delicious. They also generously offered juice tasting, which was fun to do at a coffee shop. They have plenty of parking, good lighting, good music, and just good stuff. Great place to catch up with friends or get work done. They also have an outdoor bar/seating for the summer which I am looking for in a few months. Anyways, I will be back for more yumminess soon! P.S. I am in love with the art on the wall! read more

Great service, good espresso, no soy milk or cookies A buddy and I were out for a coffee and a snack and saw the good reviews for People's on Yelp. The place is tiny, but on a weekday afternoon there was room at the bar. The barista who helped us was extremely skillful and friendly. The flat white and latte we got were super-well crafted. That said, I prefer soy milk and they just don't carry it at all, which is a deal-breaker for me, so I'll go back to one of the other coffee places in the immediate area. read more

And whatever their specialty, fresh almond milk was- WOW, worth the upcharge! At People's coffe, I enjoyed the best almond milk hot chocolate I've ever had. Can't wait to spend a little bit more time here. I read through all of the reviews before choosing this spot To grab a quick latte before heading over to Southpoint mall. It is a smaller coffee shop, and because of that we unfortunately couldn't find a place to sit and wait so I got the coffee to go. I have to mention I came in with my newborn son so we need a little bit extra space with the car seat. I went in about 940 on a weekday, and every table was taken. I got an oat milk latte, and while people noted that the prices were reasonable it was a five dollar latte. I think that that's the going rate for this drink, but it's important to make sure that is what you are expecting. Staff was attentive, and the drink was good. And next time I head in i'll grab the avocado toast with eggs! Looking forward to checking out the spot again. read more

Fantastic coffee, food (especially the breakfast burrito). I was particularly impressed by the barista named Sara. So kind and thoughtful and cared about our order and listened to what we wanted. I suppose the only downside were these annoying school girls who didn't appear to order anything, taking up an entire table. Surely they were of sound mind and physically able to move somewhere else? Hmm, I suppose they don't care enough about other people to allow them a spot and treat a business like their personal dormitory. I hope the business corrects this issue soon and allows those who actually buy something from the shop they're sitting in to sit there. i like this place! the coffee was good and not over priced and the ambiance is clean. we stayed for a good several hours and there's a lot of ppl in and out. but don't try and come with a huge group because it's a pretty small space with not many seats. i'll definitely be back to try the food. the person next to me was eating an avocado toast with eggs and it looked amazing. read more

Favorite coffee shop in the Triangle serving Black & White coffee (and Videri chocolate in their mochas). It can be tough to find seating depending on when you arrive, but you'll always get an expertly pulled drink. Card only, no cash due to pandemic, and not all customers are observant of COVID protocols (staff are, but just FYI for high risk folks). Parking is plentiful and easy access to I-40. read more

Per the recommendation of a friend, I headed over to People's last week at around 6:00pm excited to try their coveted coffee milkshake only to discover that they had already closed for the day. At that time, Yelp and Google Maps said that People's was open until 8:00pm. While I understand that life amidst COVID-19 is chaotic and unpredictable, I still find it wildly unprofessional to have mixed messaging when it comes to your hours of operation. Here's to hoping I can enjoy that milkshake someday in the future. Delicious!! The coffee here is excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable - caffeine and an education, love it. The service was quite quick and the team is friendly. They just started doing food and from what I tasted (and saw on other peoples tables), it's good and just going to get better. There's plenty of space to just hang out or to sit and do focused work. Overall, the aesthetic is great, it's the perfect mix of rustic/minimal/industrial - Durham needs more cool spots like this. read more

People's Coffee is an adorable little cafe! I've had the pineapple agua fresca here as well as the dirty horchata and the iced vanilla latte. Fantastic coffee from local roasters. I had a salted butterscotch cappuccino, which was sublime! The barista said they make all their syrups in-house which is a big plus for me because I prefer my drinks less sweet than the stuff you get at Starbucks. Very friendly staff who were really good at helping me find the drink I wanted. Will have to come back for the breakfast sandwich as it looks really good! People's coffee is one of my favorite places to hit up when I need a few hours to study and have some delicious coffee + their amazing detox beet or green juice. Their baked goods are also amazing on a cold winter day when you just need something to warm you up on the inside. The vibe inside is super cool. It's a mix between urban industrial and like a Baja theme. The seating option are good with a few couches, a bar, regular seating at tables, and outdoor tables. Their outdoor window is also cool with the folding chalkboard. We went during the Coronavirus and they were only allowing seating outside and you order from the window. Every time I have gone here the staff is super nice to me. They see me so much that they know my exact order. All together People's Coffee is an amazing spot. The only bad part is that they use a counter culture coffee which is found everywhere, and In my opinion doesn't have the best of flavors. But still the ascetic of the cafe will make it suffice on any occasion. read more

Great coffee and food, but the matcha needs improvement. Unfortunately both times that I've ordered it, the matcha has been clumpy at the bottom, so you're sipping on blobs of matcha, which means it isn't correctly made. They need to whisk it more finely. read more

I set out today to handle some small affairs and prepare for an upcoming trip and took a detour from my usual haunt. I would usually take a break and head for Fount coffee but today I chose people's coffee. It's questionable in terms of quality and taste of the items I chose but simply based on the stares I received from one of the servers, I probably won't return. And that's not to say the coffee or the breakfast item I chose was bad but, if you're going to shoot stares at me, at least welcome me in. As I stood in the center of the counter I noticed all the pleasantries being shared, "Here you go Boss" to a little kid waiting for his Hot Coco, or "Have a Nice Day to patrons who were leaving. Not a Good Morning or I'll be with you in a moment from the haute male staff who were busy blending and serving. I was waiting to hear anything that would make me feel welcomed but there was nothing but the chatter of the guest who sat behind me as I stood there. Finally I headed toward the end of the counter to place my order, ( it wasn't clear where I should) and the gentleman that was making the stars very short in his words validated that "Yes, this is where you place orders" pointing to the end of the counter.
