Honestly, where has People Optical BEEN all my life?? Law school has taken a toll on my eyes so I decided I needed a good pair of glasses that I could rely on and I had my eyes set on People Optical. THE MOOD: People Optical is located in the Cypress Village plaza. It is located off of the 5 freeway and you can see People Optical in the corner of the plaza as you are driving down Jeffrey. There is plenty of parking and many other shops here too, so you can also grab some food, do some grocery shopping, get your dry cleaning done, haircut, etc. The interior of People Optical is clean and bright. Sunglasses are to your left and there is a wide variety of designer glasses to your right. THE QUALITY: The quality of my glasses were top notch!! John, who was helping me find some glasses asked what kind of style I wanted. I said something with dark frames and he immediately recommended these brownish/red glasses from Oliver's People. They were a perfect fit and was exactly the look I was going for. **TIP: Go and ask for John. He is patient, will make great recommendations, and is diligent and efficient in his job. THE PROCESS/SERVICE: The whole process from getting your eye exam through to receiving your glasses felt absolutely seamless. I arrived (without an appointment) late Saturday afternoon and they immediately put me through to Dr. Chen in the back of the building who efficiently examined my eyes and provided me my prescription all for $70. After I received my prescription, I took it to the front and this is where John worked his magic in matching me with the perfect pair of glasses. He also called up my insurance and squared away how much I would be responsible for at the end of the day - AND, he threw in a 15% discount! Then, after I selected the perfect frame, he told me that I would be able to receive my glasses the SAME DAY! I was pretty skeptical - the SAME day and within a couple of hours? That sounded way too good to be true. So, I think I probably asked John about 5 more times to confirm I would receive my glasses within a few hours before I left to run some errands. To give you an idea of how fast I received my glasses, Yelp wouldn't let me check in again when i came back because it was less than 2 hours. Seriously, it was really that fast. OVERALL: The fact that the whole process from my eye exam to receiving my designer glasses all in a few hours was really amazing! I would like to write a review of Duke how he was kind, patient, and polite with us. I went there several times for my kids glasses and three people have helped me. Duke was the most helpful and consiterate person that we felt very comfortable and grateful. He also explained about glasses really well and very patient with us that he did not make us feel uneasy. I initially went to some fancy glasses store in Venice Beach for a particular rimless design from Entourage of 7 that was discontinued, but despite the impressive collection of styles and designs, that place tried to sell me on a Lindberg frame it had in stock without the customization that brand usually offers. This led me to look elsewhere. I found People Optical on the Lindberg site as one of their authorized dealers. While this place didn't have nearly the same in-store selection as the other place, it offered more genuine service--as opposed to sales tactics from the other place--at more reasonable pricing. This business is Korean-owned but the employees speak English and I was treated to being able to construct my frames in personalized fashion through Lindberg's customization tool via iPad. The bottom line is that I was able to get a more personalized rimless design from a trusted brand at a more reasonable price as opposed to being pitched on buying an old leftover pair of glasses a fancier store happened to have in stock at a higher price, no less, despite that fancier store's so-called "discount". On a whim, I also decided to purchase some non-prescription sports goggles I saw on display in store. I asked for a new pair but was given the display model instead, which had a small scratch on the lens. For me, it wasn't that big a deal since it was an impulse buy and I've only worn those goggles once, but it would normally be an issue for me. read more

I came in wanting to try and purchase a pair of Lindberg glasses. Firstly, Joon, the person who helped me, was very accommodating and friendly. Secondly, the prices were very reasonable. The glasses were custom ordered so they came in 2 weeks from the day I purchased them. I slept and sat on my glasses in the bed without realizing it, the frame broke into three parts last Saturday. First, we went to a same-day optometry located in the Mission Viejo to check if they can repair it. They gave me a quote: $58 for each frame leg, the total came up to $116 for both legs. Besides that, they didn't promise they can fix the frame, the lead time would be one week. What they proposed was: having a new frame and transferring the lenses. Then, I searched on the Yelp in the Irvine and "People Optical" popped up. My husband and I drove there and were warmly welcomed by Duke (hope I spell the right name). After knowing our intentions, Duke told us that they can help us repair the frame. When we checked how much would it cost, we were told it's free of charge. We didn't want to give him too much pressure and didn't want to gave him the impression that he must fix the frame back to normal. We can also accept in case the lenses need to be transferred to a new frame. He showed us some nice frame options and he didn't want us to spend additional money if the broken frame can be fixed. Wow!!! As customers who just visit People Optical, my husband and I are very convinced that their service is of the top notch!!! They think for customers even though they don't make any money out of it, even though we never bought any frames nor lenses from them before!!! I was indeed impressed by their service last Saturday. This Monday morning, I received a phone call from Duke, my broken frame was fixed and ready for pick-up. My husband helped me pick it up this afternoon. When I got home and checked the fixed frame this night, I found that they helped me clean my frame and lenses, they even prepared me a case with a clean cloth within. I highly recommend People Optical. My next pair of glasses will definitely come from People Optical. I already had an eye exam this year and was only fitted for contacts, so I came here knowing I would be paying out-of-pocket for glasses. I copped a pair of designer glasses for $420 including prescription lenses with blue light filter and the exam. Joon very kindly and patiently helped me pick a pair of glasses. In the past, I've had problems where my glasses would be too tight, but the adjustments he made for the fit was perfect. My husband also came here to get new glasses. He normally gets his lenses thinned out, and Joon helped him decide which options would be best in terms of value and cost. I didn't buy glasses from People Optical but I brought in my glasses to widen them, as they were a little small and the arms were squeezing the sides of my face. The people working here are very cordial, and when I called them about my issue they said simply, "please come in, there won't be a charge." I had some doubts because the glasses were plastic and I wasn't sure by how much they could practically be widened. The person helping me spent a good amount of time on this, even taking out the lenses at one point to facilitate the widening. And when he handed them back to me, they were perfect! I can say with confidence that this is the best optical in all of Irvine, heck, even all of California! That's how amazing this place is. Not only do they have a lot of frames that cater to Asian fits, they have a huge selection of frames to choose from, the cheapest promotion frames starting at $39 and they even carry Lindberg frames. (There's like twice more than the pictures I posted.) I chose a pair of Korean glasses from a brand called Carin. They also gave me 10% off on my frames because they were over $200. The workers here really take their time to help you find the perfect glasses that both fit your face, style, and budget. I'm really decisive, so I sat with Peter for at least half an hour, but he patiently helped me until I finally found the perfect frames for me. Another great thing about this store is that they are an out of network optical. Some may think of that as an inconvenience, but because they are out of network, their prices are much lower than competing stores (I've been glasses hunting for the past few weeks, I think I can confidently say their prices are extremely good.) If you have out of network benefits, you can claim for a reimbursement anyways. Win-win situation if you ask me! Another amazing thing is that they finished my glasses in 3 days! Crazy fast compared to other stores!!! There's just so many things to write about this establishment, like their cheap eye exams, super clean store, even the doctor was super detailed and thorough while doing the eye exam. I followed Dr. Yoo over to this location since her evaluation is thorough. (She was able to see things that an ophthalmologist did not see right away.) The customer service here is really good. I like how they show you the different options and prices unlike other places that I have been to. I knew what type of lens I wanted for my son's sports goggles but they still showed me cheaper options and let me know of the differences. I always appreciate places that do that!! I stuck with what I originally wanted and will have to wait and see how it turns out. My son loves the glasses that he got from here. The optometrist is very good. After lasik surgery, I was told many times that I couldn't wear contacts. The Dr. Worked with me to find the right lenses that would work best for me. After my lasik when my vision started to go bad-yes it does go bad, I had to go back to glasses. I love that I can wear contacts again. The staff at the optic department are nice and helpful. I think it takes a little longer to get your order filled than my experience with other places but it's not terrible. I guess it depends on what you need to get. Over all great place to go. I was in bad need of prescription sunglasses without wanting to spend a lot of cash. I hit up Costco first and noticed their low-priced frames with designer labels were very low quality, made of cheap plastic with a Prada logo. I came here, and I got a high quality $120 Marc Jacobs frame plus lenses for a total of around $260 with polarized lenses. I ordered on a Tuesday, got the glasses the next Monday. They cut the lenses there so you can pretty much have whatever frame. Props to .. James? He definitely knew what he was talking about, advised me correctly on whether or not 1.67 lenses were worth it for my prescription, which is pretty bad. In other news, my mom bought some Italian prescription sunglasses and paid a total of around $650. Guess I got the better deal. read more
