I've been to this mall many times and had no idea this was here. Mom heard we have a Penzey's, so we found it. Well, found the address. Pulled into the mall and still couldn't find it. It sits in its own building, out by the road. The building was apparently a bank, and deserves a visit for its design alone. Plenty of parking, easy access. Inside, it smells wonderful. There are sample jars for each spice, and many, many spices. All the usual suspects, plus their own blends for any purpose. Mom got a lot of little pouches to make into her own gift boxes, and they actually have little boxes and things to make your own, plus empty jars so you can subdivide or blend. I got a couple of blends to season assorted meals. I was wondering what Baby K would do in a spice store. When I told her where we were going, she said "I no like spicy stuff," so we had to explain that spices aren't always spicy... Anyway, they have a little table where kids can color, and provide crayons and paper. She loved that. Plus, free stickers and a pin when we left made her happy. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. I'll be back for more someday.

    The best gift idea!!

Penzey's Spices, you are a spice dreeeeam. I absolutely love cooking and have been wanted to expand my tiny spice collection. So, I walked in thinking I would buy 1 or 2 spices and would not need a basket. LOL. One of each, please?! Penzey's layout is extremely easy to navigate. All sections are clearly labeled whether it is "Baking", "Pepper" or "Cinnamon". You won't get lost in this sea of spices. They also make it easy on the customer because each bottle has a description of what's inside so there's no guessing games going on. The spices come in a few different sizes so I was thrilled beyond belief to get a fair share of small ones (1.1 oz) so that I could try plenty without being unreasonable. After making about 12 laps, the spectacular women at the counter rung me up and gave me a free massive bottle of air-dried shallots...the special that weekend! They also signed me up for their mailing list so many more laps are to come. MANY MORE. If you like cooking and baking or just walking, you'll be a fan! And if not, Penzey's may make you like cooking and baking or just walking.

Some of my recent acquisitions in a place of prominence (and easy reach) in my spice and seasoning cabinet.

If you are a chef or a hedge-wizard kitchen cook, you can appreciate being in close proximity to a true bona fide spice shop. I actually only live a few blocks from Penzey's and I am grateful for that good fortune. I often walk there when I run low on an essential seasoning or garnish. The spices are of the highest quality and in my layman experience and opinion are superior to any neighborhood grocery spice shelf. I often partake of their saffron for my paella and Chili 9000 (the self-proclaimed "chili of the future!") seasoning for my lean ground turkey chili. It adds hints of a lot of different influences that bring out hints of chocolate combined with severely other elements that are both sweet but also hot. Each jar is also individually sealed with a sticker that ensures quality longevity and freshness that I appreciate. If you take your cooking seriously or want to inject some interesting new flavors into your dishes, stop by. Their staff are knowledgeable and they even have recipe ideas.

How fast can you blow $50 on little bags of powder? Ha ha, these are spices not drugs :) Housed in a converted bank building, the price per ounce might make even a banker blush. Despite my bitching about the prices Penzey is invariably cheaper than the grocery store. Spend $30 and you get a free little jar of their choice, spend $50 and you get two free little jars. Friendly service and I do love the strong flavors. It's also nice that you can choose between whole unground spices and powder.

Now as this was our first time here and we was so taken back by the throw back feel of the place! It gave me small town vibes! I instantly missed home walking into this grocery store! EVERYTHING WAS CLEAN AND NEAT! nothing was picked over and smelled so fresh! Until u got to the meat section then the seafood section was over whelming! But there is a spirits section and a local pop section and then local bakery! We seen the deli section and tried EVERYTHING! we took home so potato salad and the broccoli salad stuff can't remember what it was but it's good! lol They had a lot of prepared foods to but a bit over priced but available! Cute store! Only 5 lanes and 2 lanes open! They did take apple and Samsung pay! The cashiers don't really talk and the workers in the back were really nice and answered all of outlet questions! And loved their wine section! Also u can get balsamic vinegar fresh! Love that!

I think a "Gourmet Super Market" should stock some gourmet fish - Like TUNA :-) I can buy Salmon anywhere less expensively. I don't know why I keep going back - I guess it's the thrill of the chase now. Edit: I just saw Dan's response. Oh well Dan - losing stock is a cost of doing business and you can write it off - Meanwhile - I'll find somewhere else to shop. I never had this problem - EVER - before you remodeled the store and moved the fish counter to the back near the meat. YUCK

I was not familiar with Bexley Natural Market but saw from the Too Good Eats website that the market carried them so off I went exploring. Parkign lot is limited and that area of Cassady Avenue was a little busy but I was able to get in and out ok and find a spot to park. The staff interaction was ok but REALLY missed an opportunity to sell the market and what they are about. I had asked about the membership and the bland explanations really didn't say much at all and the interaction was not very inviting and kind of dismissive. I would have been happy that some new traffic came in and showed an interest. Anyway, the market offers all kinds of items from produce, vegan options, natural drinks, and grocery items. It appears the main focus is supporting local farmers and vendors in the area. I will come back and take another look around but was super happy they had the drinks I liked. If interested- I found online that the membersip is $30 one-time payment and annual dues of $45 that provides 5% to 8% off and monthly coupons & promotions valued at $100 a year in savings. They also offer member-only events and activities. I found out more about the store from their website, if interested, you can check them out at www.bexleynatrualmarket.org.
