We used to eat at this restaurant's predecessor and were concerned that the renovation would result in changes that we might not appreciate. Today was our first visit since it reopened. The dining room was very nice, the staff was very pleasant. The food was as expected: lunch time buffet with standard offerings. fried rice was undercooked; a lot was lukewarm, but quite tasty overall. No alcohol because they did not have the license yet. But, the price was atrocious. 2 adult lunch buffets was over $60 with tip. Sorry, we expected it to be higher cost than previously, but the only people who will want to go here are those who have huge appetites and can eat more food-- and that is not going to help the restaurant make a profit. We will not be going back, and I am sad to say that because we like to patronize local restaurants when we come to town. read more

I am a little taken back how negatively some people have reviewed here. I tried most of the buffet and found nothing that objectionable at all and I am really fussy if that helps. I came in at 5:30 and missed the 10% off special from 4-5:00. Yes the place is dated, yes, its not the healthiest food in town, but for a chinese buffet land locked in a cultural wasteland like penticton at the tip of a desert, hey its pretty good. Could they improve? Sure, maybe a little less dough on the chicken balls and shrimp, do away with the mashed potatoes, french fries and onion rings and grasp their own culture with pride and offer something else because these were the least acceptable items on the buffet in my opinion. I also agree with the one person that things could have some spice or flavour bumped up. But the one persons comment about being surprised no one has died here is totally unacceptable. They should try running a joint like this, in this day and age and then comment. I have had chinese from coast to literal coast and i can say this is no where even close to being bad enough to make a comment like that. I will admit I didnt go back for any 2nds, i did like the bbq pork, the goyza and the ribs, but 2nds, not really. So ill give the place 3 stars, id give them 2 but I think they deserve one for having served a few spoiled brats with kindness, like they did me. Will I come back? Maybe, but not for a year or two, I am not a big Chinese Buffet fan, just being honest, its not really their fault. read more

Two seniors went to try the buffet at 7:30 PM and the buffet was nearly bare but they stayed and had a plate of what they could find... They said it was mostly luke warm or cold but were hungry and ate anyway. After one plate they had had enough and left to pay and were charged $49.00 for the two plates of buffet.. This place is actually called 'Penticton Buffet" The looks are dated, and cleanliness is not a highlight. Walking through the door the smell of fish was overwhelming, and despite pointing out that I was allergic they did nothing to accommodate, just argued with me that the smell was normal. We were meeting a large group here, so my wife and kids stayed, but I left as the fish smell was so strong it was making me nauseous. My family's report was that the food was bearable, but nothing great. There were a large number of options, but most dishes tasted as though they had been sat on heating trays for hours. read more

All I have to say is that I am very surprised nobody has died from eating here. The food is bland and tastes like it has been reheated ten times. With the amount of elderly people in town they come often so I would hate to see them get sick. They need better flavours in the food. I thought desert would be good but the ice cream is fresher burned and it is so frozen you can't get it out. Not highly recommended until they learn to cook again. read more

Went inside once pre COVID and had take out once at a family do. It was better than I expected. Full disclosure I hate buffets. Veggies were over cooked, and over sauced. Anything fried (as were most things) was greasy, over-battered, covered in industrial strength red sauce and cold. Popular with seniors as it's cheap. No decor, ancient dishes and cutlery, and a pervasive aroma of disinfectant. BTW the food is Chinese in name only. read more

Before Christmas 2018 it was amazing...spent 50 dollars tonight and the chow me in tastes 3 days old and heated up...the ginger beef hat is suppose to be spicy not only had no spice but litterly tastes like the outside batter wasn't done correctly ...the lemon chicken disgusting it wasn't fully cooked to where the batter inside wasn't cooked at all ...fried rice seems ok and chicken balls ok...they sent it all packed really badly in a bag where some containers ended up sideways and no chop sticks .... definitely don't want to buy here again I really don't want to waste money too bad it used to be really good if I could rate it 0 stars tonight I would read more

Grungy, run down building and decidedly mediocre food. Fairly sure it's all just bulk pack stuff from Costco. 99% of the offerings are deep fried. Everything is bland. Even the sauces are the chemical-flavored jugs of slime, again likely from Costco. read more

I first want to say that the staff was extremely pleasant and attentive to our family. If I attended restaurants solely for the service I would certainly be back. Inevitably though it does come back to the food and this restaurant does not cut it. I am not a particularly picky eater and while I tried most everything on the buffet I can say most definitely I would not return for any of it. This Buffet has got to be the worst I've ever smelled or tasted. After I ate I didn't feel well for a couple days. I went into the men's washroom and it smelt like they wash the floors with urine so bad I should have checked that place out before I ate I would have walked right out ,their windows are absolutely filthy the seats are filthy and sticky the tables are sticky I don't know why this place hasnt been closed down. They should actually demolish the building it should be condemned. I'm probably being too kind with this review it's actually worse than this review and I've noticed a lot of other people have said the same thing I will never set foot in that place again not even for a coffee. read more

this family run restaurant was very busy. Variety of food was very good includes western & chinese food. Had turkey &roast beef. It was busy sat evening & understaffed. Fair turnover of items. Taste was on the flat side for most item. Lots of deep fried food. Nothing stood out except squid which I liked but again lacked spice. The decor was dated & can use some updating. The w/r definitley can use new sinks as they were chippped. Adequate for cleanliness. Carpets in dining area needs replacing however it served a purpose as I was able to wipe my feet w a clear conscience after stepping on the greasy floor near the kitchen door. I gave it 3 b/c staff was friendly & hard working. Value for $15 was good. Both my wife & I had no health issues after eating here. It was busy compared to other chinese rest.s in town so 3 vs 2. Maybe I ll return but maybe not if I can find a better eatery in town. read more

We used to like it but the last few times the food hasn't been very good. Today we went for dinner and the food was very poor. The hot and sour soup looked like it had been there since lunch. The fried food was greasy, the vegetables looked tired - generally just not good food. We aren't going back unless it gets a new owner who cares more about serving good food. The sign over the salad bar says "good fresh food" and I guess it is food but its not good nor fresh. read more
