Ever since the new ownership took over, the portions have been drastically reduced and the quality (taste) has gone down. If you were a long time customer, you really feel that the new owners are trying to recover the money they spent buying the business. Don't eat here. We ordered take out and by the time they brought our coffee and tea to drink while waiting the order was ready. Suspicious being so fast. Got home and dished out sweet and sour pork, "House special chow mein" and House special chop suey" Sweet and sour was hard and dry, beef in chop suey was dry and chewy, must have been old food sitting around and they gave it to us. Ok... So somebody in this town is lying. There is a chinese buffet down the street that has a giant sign out front saying "Voted Best Chinese Buffet in Town". And then theres this place "Best Buffet in Town" They both cant be... So which is it? Having tried both, I can say emphatically its this one! Unless theres another one farther down the road? I have eaten "Chinese" from coast to coast in canada and as far south as china town in LA. I will agree that this or most other places of this ilk outside of China town in which ever city youve had it in, is by far better than what you can get here or for that matter anywhere elae in the interior, this place at least is not too bad. I actually went for 2nds and tried almost everything. The quality and flavour level is good and nothing to be sneered at by spoiled little brats plsying around on yelp. This place is clean, nice tiled floor, newer furnishings and a nice stainless steel display for the sizable choices. If you are jonesing for chinese, come to this one. I'd recommend this place for the sweet and sour pork! It was delightfully crunchy, and the sauce had a unique flavour that I wish I could bring home. My husband and I tried this place on a whim, and was surprised to find one of the best sweet and sour pork we've ever had! There are lots of alternatives and I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was cold and everything was not up to expectations. I get the impression the lemon chicken was previously frozen and was cold when we started eating it. Prices are expensive for getting not the best quality food. Soup was good. Being in penticton, this isn't horrible. Food is warm and not really hot, but it's not really that bad. The outside of the restaurant is very run down and seems like you could catch something in there, but the inside is actually clean, and nice. Service was very satisfactory and I can't really complain too much about the food. It's your basic Chinese buffet with a desert/salad one as well. Large portions of bland food. Charged $3.00 for chile oil. Asked for two place settings as was staying in hotel and specifically requesting two. Only gave us a fork. One fork. No spoons for soup. Although the signage boasts its the best in town, all it does is give false hope. The food is the same as you will find in a Chinese buffet in a food court. The rate at which they keep the items stocked up in the steam tables is certainly sub par. Nothing special here, a small spattering of customers occupied the restaurant and that was at 6:00pm. Half the items were in need of restocking at any given time. Horrible food. Horrible service. Horrible everything. No drink menu, so when we asked about alcohol, we were told "we have lots of beers and wine" yet couldn't name a single one. Couldn't even say if it was red or white wine. Just pointed at the one Chinese beer advertised on the table and said "that one and another Chinese type of beer, and some others". They also pointed to the small bar fully stocked with liquor and told us that "I don't know how to mix anything except rum and Coke but I can try if you give me directions" and all I kept asking for was what type of beers I could choose from..so we opted for water. Food was horrible. Plain potato perogies were mixed with the meaty Gyoza...why? Why would you ever think that was a good idea? Un-shelled shrimp cooked in with sauces so you're constantly picking through thick sauce with your fingers to eat the shrimp. And one napkin on the table, not once did we get extra napkins despite asking and obviously being covered in sauce. The food was horrible. I don't think it was the cooks fault, I believe it was a mix of poor training, an incredibly cheap owner/manager, and lack of pride. We sat down at 745pm after being told they were open till 9pm. At 8 they asked if there was anything else we'd like from the salad bar before they closed it down. I said "I suppose not. I'll just grab some dessert instead", but guess what? They already took the desserts away. With an hour left in service and people still coming in to eat... We never got water refill, extra napkins, or our plates taken away. When we were done we even stood around the door for 5 min waiting for someone to give us our bill/take our money/acknowledge our very existence. Absolutely will not go back again. Hated every minute of the place. Oh, and the emergency exit by the bathroom is not only blocked by a stack of benches and tables, but it looks like it's boarded up from the outside. WTF? read more

Ordered take-out, Restaurant called an hour later to say driver had tried to deliver the order, this was not true. Had not buzzed residence. Driver was angry and threatening, totally inappropriate! Restaurant manager was contacted by phone and refused to take any responsibility and kept interrupting even though I was calling to say driver was aggressive and should not be talking to seniors this way! First & LAST time!! Went to hospital after vomiting in bathroom from dining here! After trying to explain to whomever was in charge that I became ill, their ONLY concern was to collect payment!! I was then threatened with police because I refused to pay! Then they had the audacity to accuse me of eating too much & drinking a glass of wine, one glass!!!! Since when is a single plate of food excessive @ a Chinese buffet, or any buffet for that matter? Or is one 3/4 full glass of white house wine-chosen because as another reviewer noted they don't have a beverage menu-excessive!! I really enjoyed the Buffet lots of different foods to choose from everything tasted good.

The sauces and noodles are average for American style Chinese food. The meat however is sub-par. Generally speaking it is hard to tell what quality of meat is used in Chinese food, due to the batter and heavy sauce, but the bleached chicken parts used in the chow mein was hard to comprehend. Do they not realize that people can tell it is not quality chicken? I can only imagine what the beef and pork parts look like. read more
