I've been coming to this location for a while and have never had any issues, which is why I feel it's important to share this experience. We came in for an oil change shortly before closing. I completely understand that it was later in the day, and I would have had no problem being told to come back another time. However, we were still accepted for service by Nancy Velasco and told the car would be ready in about 40 minutes. When we returned shortly after, we received a call by her asking where we were, and the tone felt unnecessarily passive aggressive. From the initial interaction to the follow up, the communication came across with an attitude that didn't feel welcoming or professional. I also spoke briefly with a manager, but the concern seemed a bit dismissed, which was disappointing. I truly understand that working with customers especially close to closing can be frustrating at times. But a simple, polite response goes a long way, especially for returning customers like us. Overall, I still value this location and the service I've received in the past, but I hope this is something that can be addressed moving forward. Very disappointing experience. We reached out numerous times to get basic information about what it would take to place a deposit on a new car. We spoke with several employees, and each time we were told someone would get back to us--but no one ever did. We even spoke with a manager and still received no follow-up. Meanwhile, we reached out to another dealership, and they sent us the paperwork to sign and submit our deposit the very same day. That showed us how simple and professional the process should have been. The lack of communication, poor customer service, and overall weak sales approach were frustrating. We were serious buyers and ready to move forward, but the lack of effort made it clear our business was not a priority. Would not recommend based on our experience. read more

Took my 2024 Toyota Tundra to get it serviced today and I told the service advisor Michael Caballero about a squeaking noice when braking, after I get a text that my truck was ready I go to Michael's desk and he is nowhere to be found, I asked t the other service advisors about where Michael was, and they said they texted him and he never showed up so another service advisor took care of me and said that there was no issues with the brakes. There was no noise that couldn't find anything and gave my paperwork to the Porter and and when the port was driving back to my truck when he stepped on the break and made the noise again, so I went back inside and looking for my Michael again nowhere to be found. I asked to speak to manager then the manager comes out and his name is Santiago Caballero. I'm guessing his Michael was a brother or relative. And I told him about the issue again and he said that my truck had just went through the car wash and the rotors were wet with soap. So that's why I made the squeaking noise so I told him when I'm at work and my car has been sitting for a while now with no soap or water on the rotors, completely dry, I step on the brakes and it does the squeaking noise again, so Santiago says it I wanna speak to another manager. I said no cause you guys aren't gonna do nothing anyways. So that's what my frustration with this dealership so I guess I had to keep on trying and trying to tell my issue gets fixed or got directly to Toyota. read more

It was obvious he was not interested in helping us and was annoyed by our presence. I've had days when family, coworkers or other incidents ruin my attitude towards anything. The service staff member, Juan R., was unhelpful, dismissive, and showed little concern that she had been waiting for hours. After eight long hours, not only was the job still unfinished, but they also cut through a part incorrectly and had to loan her a vehicle. To make matters worse, my mom -- who is over 70 years old -- became ill afterward due to sheer exhaustion from the experience. This was extremely upsetting and completely unacceptable. This is not my usual Toyota dealer. I only went to Penske Downey Toyota because of an emergency. The check-in wait was absurd, with zero communication. I literally had to call just to ask what the process was because no one bothered to acknowledge me. When I picked up my car, it was damaged while in their care. When I contacted the service rep, instead of taking responsibility, they sent me blurry, distant photos that conveniently didn't show the damage and then flat-out refused to fix it. This place has no accountability and no respect for customers or their vehicles. Inspect your car inch by inch before leaving the service department. Once you drive off, they will deny everything and leave you stuck with the damage they caused. read more

Toyota Service Department!! When in for a maintenance service on Monday 8/4 due to maintenance required light appeared & when service was completed I was told I needed to new brakes and tires. The following day I was driving my car & the low engine oil light appeared I was confused since I had just taken the car in. So I decided to take my car to my mechanic to have the brakes replaced & asked if he can check why the low oil light appeared. Turns out I had no oil in my car . It was empty. When in the paper I received it showed the supposed oil level it was at "full". Which was extremely alarming since I have been going here ever since I bought my car at Penske in 2014 to get serviced & had I not taken the car in to my mechanic this could have caused major engine damage. I'm unsure on how this could've been overlooked. I contacted the service dept. & was rudely told I needed to talk the person who helped me instead of them attempting to help or connect me with a manager. I got transferred & the person who answered mentioned the person who helped me wasn't there and asked what he can help me with. I explained what happen and he was also unsure why my car had no oil if oil levels should always be checked. I was told he would talk to his manager and I would get a call back. Today would be the 2nd day and still no call back. Check your engine oil after your cars are serviced as it seems oil is not being checked by them. read more

Honestly, this place feels like a scam. I took my car in after my display warned about a headlight system issue, and they charged a $209 inspection fee. Given the price, I expected a thorough diagnosis. Instead, I later received a text saying my headlight would "give out soon" and that repairs would cost $1,800. They applied some "discounts," but even after that, the price was still around $1,600. It felt like they inflated the initial cost just to make the discounts seem appealing. I called other shops and got significantly lower quotes, so I decided to take my car elsewhere. They gave another "discount" and said they could make the inspection fee $180. While I understand the inspection fee was something I agreed to before, paying $180 just to hear the same thing my car already told me, without a detailed breakdown of the actual issue felt unfair. When I paid, they mentioned that they would email me a report of what exactly was wrong, but I have yet to receive it. Then, the next day, they texted me again, saying that their price data was wrong and the real cost was $1,320. I'm still getting the repair done elsewhere for still less than half of what they quoted. Save yourself the hassle and go to a trusted local shop instead. $180 for something my car display already told me is not worth it. read more
