I've been trying unsuccessfully for the past few years to get back into running. I'm kind of flat-footed and wider, that I can't go to foot locker or the others. So I did some research online and decided on a pair based on the advice I had gotten from the last running store I've been to.
Since we were in the area, I thought I'd stop in and just check out their selection. The guys working, RJ and Phil, were very knowledgable and friendly. They took the time out to really assess and analyze my walking, find my right size and fit and even looked at my old pair's soles to find the proper shoe for me. They took out three pairs they felt were the best fit and I test drove each one. RJ explained to me the differences in construction and how that affected the feel. I'm kind of skeptical with everything but talking to him, asking him questions put me at ease. Phil explained the pains and issues I was having and how and why my older shoes weren't exactly the best for me. They were on the right path but not exactly correct.
I finally decided on a pair of asics and to tell you the truth, I thought they were a lil too snug for me, but I'm new at running (the right way, that is). They told me about their 14-day trial, to just wear it around the house and try and get a feel for it. I wanted to make sure I'd be able to bring them back if the snugness got to be too much, so I tried not crease em and walked all over my carpet at home. I gave them a chance and they started feeling better, a lot more comfortable.
The guys here were friendly, knowledgable and very professional. Very encouraging to me to keep at it. I'm even considering trying out a class or race they host. I wouldn't hesitate to come back here for my next pair. There's a lot of places out there that'll just show you a nice shoe, they'll ask how it feels, but if you don't know what's the best for you, what good is that shoe? And with shoes costing what they do nowadays, wouldn't you want the right one? Anyways, I'm glad I walked into here by accident. I've been running with my new shoes, twice already about 16kms and I love em! read more
