My friends and I stopped by Penfold's Cafe in a Monday for brunch with a big group. We were seated outside, and it was a bit cold. We asked our server if we could move closer to the heaters, and she set us up closer so we could be more comfortable. We were able to quickly order our food, and they came out fast as well. The serving size was very fair, especially for the giant cinnamon roll. I personally ordered the Eggs Benedict and really enjoyed the flavor of the hollandaise sauce. The home style potatoes were also nice and crunchy with good flavor to them. I got to try a bit of the mess, and it was really good. I'd say it seemed like the most bang for your buck to have all that good food in one plate, and the three friends that ordered it all had to-go boxes. I'd definitely recommend Penfold's for a quick, quality, and delicious brunch. read more

Nick the manager is stellar and seeing his team happy and loving their jobs shows that he takes care of them which means alot to us. My wife and I have been to Penfolds several times for breakfast. I've tried a few different omelets but my favorite dish is the machaca!!! Beans, rice and flour tortillas. My wife gets the basic 2 eggs, potatoes, toast which must be good because she orders it every time. I've had a bite or 2 of the cinnamon roll which are ridiculous! The service is excellent. The ambiance is really a family restaurant that welcomes you in when you sit at one of the tables, in a booth or at their counter. This cafe is so popular that in my experience there's usually a wait of 25 minutes or so when it's busy. Staff are friendly and are more than happy to answer questions. Came here for the first toe with some friends. The hostess was super sweet and accommodating. Seated our group of 7 quickly. The inside is super fun, lots of stuffed animals and and toys on display. Been living in Temecula for 4 years now and this is the first time my husband and I had breakfast at this delicious spot! It's a cozy old fashioned breakfast spot with old school toys and miscellaneous items on top shelves around the restaurant. It was pretty interesting to look at. The staff was polite and friendly. The food was absolutely incredible! We started off with a cinnamon roll. It's massive and scrumptious! I ordered the Tractor Race Special which comes with 2 pancakes, choice of eggs, and choice of bacon or sausage or they give the option to do half and half. I did egg whites and egg whites are $1 extra. Not bad at all. I've seen other restaurants charge up to $3 extra. Pancakes were just how I love them. Fluffy and buttery. My husband ordered the Crab Omelette which also came with hash browns and a choice of toast. It had lots of crab. My husband always ask for crispy hash browns and a lot of times they don't come out crispy at other spots so he was very appreciative that his hash browns were actually crispy. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge! We had some leftovers to take home. You will leave with a food coma but it's so worth it. There was a wait on a busy Saturday morning, but it moves pretty fast. The hostesses are welcoming. We were seated in less than 10 minutes. Mandi was our server. She was nice, helpful, and attentive. The food came out in less than 20 min. The food is good for the most part. I love how when I asked for my hash browns extra crispy, it was extra crispy. Drove up from SD to visit with a family friend that lives in Menifee. Years ago (20+) if we had a field trip or if the mechanics had a road trip, Penfold's Cafe was a favorite. There was five of us, 2 order of half sandwich + soup, chicken breast sandwich, mom + I spilt the crab omelette, and a side order of French fries. Our friend would take fries from another person plate. So I ordered the fries for him. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Been coming here for years and happened to be in the area and......you know the rest of the story! Classic, diner style restaurant with all the dishes you would expect; egg combo dishes, make your own omelette, hash browns, country potatoes, and my fav biscuits and gravy. There are also a representative selection of Mexican breakfasts like machaca and eggs, chorizo, etc, and I saw but haven't yet tried, about a dozen different eggs Benedict concoctions. I had 2 eggs (over medium), bacon, hash browns and biscuits and gravy instead of one of the toast offerings. Add a cup of coffee and we are good to go. The service was exceptional as always, the servers working as a team to swarm the customers every need - water, more coffee, fast delivery, no time for the food to get cold on the counter. A fairly eclectic decor, somewhat of a throwback motif, ambiance vibrant but not deafening, and the restrooms were clean, which in my mind is a reflection of how much they care about their patrons. Next time, I'm diving into either the giant cinnamon roll or the pecan thingy that's also huge.....and maybe the pancakes, which looked awesome as well! read more

Okay, but far from great - long ago, we consistently enjoyed breakfast at Penfolds. Being well over five years later, we decided to enjoy it again. The breakfast was okay and average at best. The breakfast filled the void and the old style restaurant décor, a good visual. Unfortunately (the, "far from great") - the eggs benedict hollandaise sauce came curdled (very grainy); we asked for another serving and that too was the same - curdled. The biscuits for the, "biscuits and gravy" were too dense and almost as if they were baked on too high heat - tough/crusty on the outside and "gooey" on the inside. I would have needed another cup or two of the gravy to make both biscuits edible. Instead, I used all the gravy on just one. It is a fairly busy place and with no obvious shortage of patrons (being on the outskirts of the booming "old town" Temecula gives them a great strategic location. The servers were great, very cordial, and obviously very customer focused. We did leave, fairly pleased and full. read more

This place was a great stop while visiting Temecula. We were greeted by friendly staff. It was busy, but we were sat immediately! Our server (Savannah) was awesome! Stopped in for a quick breakfast with mom, we both ordered the Cowboy chicken fried steak (it's huuuge!) with hashbrowns and eggs. The chicken fried steak is very good. but the flour gravy is too bland for me. I'm a sausage gravy girl, and this one had me wishing for less of a 'flour' taste. The menu is huge, plenty to choose from to satisfy every breakfast eater. I highly recommend the ginormous cinnamon roll for your table to share...easily feeds 2-4 people.
