I was curious about e-bikes, and Ossie the most excellent friendly mechanic I've dealt with, helped me with my decision with a test drive in the rolling hills of Maplewood! I had such an amazing ride, it re-sparked my passion for cycling, after that ride I bought in 2 of my bikes for work there and they are both riding fantastic, the work they do, helpful advice, friendly warm demeanor, all ushered in a new era of my cycling that I now have passed down to my son, we go on rides every other day, and his enthusiasm has created an even stronger bond. Three staffers were talking about one pair of ski boots they sold with the wrong insoles (it was the display old blue insoles instead of the new ones) and trying to find and contact that customer to the best of their ability. Good customer service, there. Winter gear almost all out in February, so end of season and clearance sales on some items, but not others (same snow bib for women was on sale, the men's version - not on sale? guess it's about how many they've sold?). Didn't really find any ski socks of note. Some jackets on sale. And some weird jelly bean flavors. Skip the bubble tea version, they taste terrible. Bike and ski services in the back. Prices aren't too bad, so hopefully would be smooth to get service. Will bring back my bike later this year to see what they can do about a sticky lower gear.

Upon returning twice to return a total of two items, the cashier staff were rude and not caring, almost disgruntled. Very odd and won't be returning here even though it is close to work. I liked and enjoyed the shopping but the staff either get heat from their corporate people (which is probably the case) or are just very unhappy. I can't imagine why outdoor loving people would be unhappy!

So I went to a local bike shop in the east village call BikeFix and I really lucked up. BikeFixNYC is for anyone out there like me that spent several thousand for an ebike from California that has no support/mechanics here in NYC. Surron, Super73, Onyx, Ghostcat, Revv1, PowerGoat, you name it and BikeFix got you. They honestly do not disappoint. Plus they're honest and trustworthy. I brought my PG V3 for some new rear shocks and Greg did a phenomenal job. He also removed some pegs that I had difficulty with. I won't take my bike anywhere else!

Back to shop, fixed tire and when I asked the price, they said $25, but I mentioned the wall sign says $20 fixed rate. I give the $20 and they argue with me, and someone not involved gets involved and I feel like I'm being attacked. I leave the shop again, and the back tire, just "fixed" is completely flat by the time I got home 5 blocks. I thought the shop was going to be OK, but I cannot recommend it. Plus, I have a completely flat back tire.

Small place and the hours are really short, only a few days a week and a few hours per day. The price changes the longer the item is in the store, after a month or so it goes down 10%, then down another 15% after another month, but only two reductions. After 90 days they give it back or donate it, whatever the consignor prefers. No returns! Super nice service, when I called in the kid looked up my skate size on the shelf and told me it was worth coming down. Of course they didn't fit when I got there and tried them Lol, but I found another pair that did.
