The owner emailed me after my review posted. He wanted to hear my side and I explained. He told me Kevin had his side too. We made arrangements for me to come to store again. I did and with same shoes. He and another sales person listened to me as I explained my problem and they changed the cleats. No charge! I don't know if this was a big deal. But I am grateful. The new ones are softer or more pliable and they installed them further up in the shoe this time. This is 4 work outs later and the problem is resolved, no more hurt. I bought my first road bike here. I had a fitting with Mike. This place is great. They hand held me with my first purchase throughout the whole process. Everything from the shoes, to the bike and eyewear. They even have an eyewear line specifically made for Asians! The eyewear fit me perfectly. The bike is absolutely perfect. There is nothing like having a bike custom fit just for you. The owners and super nice too. I can't say a negative thing about this place. Should have done this review two years ago but here it is! I was extremely unhappy with there service on my Gary Fisher when I dropped it off for service. They couldn't figure out the problem with my forks. After weeks of holding it I got really upset with them. THEY MADE ME HAPPY... after the problem wasn't resolved the owner dug into his pocket and discounted me branded new forks and free install after all the issues we had. What can I say but integrity and the ability to step up to help out one of their customers when they couldn't find a solution!! I go back to them all the time for everything for my bike.!! Background: I live in Bronx so why go all the way to NJ for a bike shop? I restarted cycling in 2013, got my first serious high-end bike in 2016. As we all know, fitting and re-tweaking/adjustments for your initial bike fitting is important for a smooth painless cycling. Its a huge determinant for whether you would continue vs abandoning the sport just cause it hurts! Introduction to the shop: Well via online cycling groups ie facebook, i came across cycling enthusiasts, where I made friends with people, who had the same brand as my bike (its not important at all- a bike is a bike). So after riding my new bike for couple of years I realized that I needed few re-adjustments. Through shear luck, one day I saw that there was a great 3d bike fit program, being run by a shop called Cyclecraft in NJ. Great!!! So I asked in the group owner (Mike- no longer with the shop). So I called the shop, spoke with a guy to set up an appt.. He asked me where I would be coming from as I had asked for a12pm appt (considering biking to city and taking a train close to the shop- since i dont drive NYC syndrome) , he informed me that our manager Mr Sunny Quach lives in Bronx too, and I was like oh!!! I know the name!!! from the facebook group. So I interacted with Mr Quach, who was very kind to give me move info and even told me that he would give me a ride to the shop without asking for that favor, myself!!! So we setup the time and we go the shop with a lovely chat during our car ride. Fitting: Arrival! Then come the bike god aka Tm Dougherty, bike fit maestro. I thought it would take like 2-3 hrs, but Tim (a very patient and a soft spoken man), made me feel so comfortable that the session extended to about 5 hrs, (yes I was offered pizza too :p) every question, every basic query was responded with an explanation, without any attitude. Not sure if it was me or him being thorough but i believe it was the latter. The fitting taught me a thing or two about biking, ie science and anatomy (something i loved as a subject too) are very important determinants of your sporting habits. The fitting is 3D with cameras recording your movements, and Tim explaining you the mechanics. Its a program he has developed himself and teaches are diff college/university sports facilities. He even suggested me a route so i should test out my new adjustment. i rode 30 miles in NJ,and Sunny rode me back home (not included in the deal but I such an awesome person) Important: For any bike fitting needs readjustment, so included in the program are free re-tweakings (about 2-3) with in a year as your body readjusts to the changes. A good investment for the price you pay, just like investing into a good mattress. Takeaways: I wasnt pushed into buying stuff from the shop (very imp) as bike shop fitters would push you to buy stuff (a sad thing for the sport). I had asked Mr Quach for a complete check up for the bike as I had not had it serviced for more than year, bike was checked without cost and was told no tuneup is required!!! Tuneups costs close to $100 so no rip off here. They are bike friendly folks and I loved that about them. Both Tim and Sunny are very thorough and honest gentlemen and running a great business at Cyclecraft. ..... I was there in Sept 2017, its been 5 months and I needed some tweaking. As I am part of the facebook page of a group that Tim follows and was thinking to make an appt, before I could do that, Tim himself manages me and asked me if i needed one. I walked in as a curmudgeonly runner-in-recovery and have been converted into a cycling aficionado. Here's how they won me over: 1. They are the least pushy sales people I've come across; there was no pressure to get me on a bike, and not knowing anything about cycling, they took the time to answer all my questions (I had lots) 2. They love what they do and they want their patrons to feel the same way. Everyone on staff was super kind in taking the time to share how and why they came to cycling and what resources to check out. Further, I visited the shop at least 3 times before I purchased a bike. 3. When I finally committed to a bike--Specialized Sequoia Elite road bike--they measured me, tuned the bike, and guaranteed it. The rental order was completed online at their website (where you pick the bike & frame size), and the owner Brendan worked with me on timings. I have a Campy equipped Pinarello road bike (which seems rare around these parts) and these guys took very good care of it...They tuned my entire drivetrain, installed a new rear derailler and even lifted my aero bars (on special request)...Most local bike shops would just gawk over the bike, but these guys knew how to handle it... I am thoroughly impressed with their professionality and capabilities...The made valuable suggestions on ride position, equipment and even referred some more advanced questions to other collegues...Most salesmen would just make up an answer... Though it is a haul for me, this has become my go-to shop. The mechanics are excellent and the knowledge of the sales staff is comprehensive. They are also willing to say they don't know, let them find out. No attempt to polish it over. They also take you seriously. Even if you don't look like a "cyclist" you get their attention, undivided, to answer all your questions. They will also leave you alone if you tell them you are just browsing. The range of bikes runs from a couple of hundred for a childs bike to multi-thousand dollar bikes built of "unobtanium" and I found that no matter what I was looking at I got the same attention. If I bring in my 20 year old road bike or my sons new bike in for repair they get the same attention. When I picked my bike up from repair the Manager didn't like the condition his team had left the bar tape on my bike and insisted on giving me free tape to replace it. That is service and that is being conscientious. After spending months picking their brains and trying a variety of bikes I finally decided on a bike and I am purchasing it from them. Best shop around in my experience. Well worth the 18 miles each way for me to go there. read more

I've never had a problem per se here, but I'll put it this way. It's worth your money and time to go another 15 minutes to Brookdale Cycle in Bloomfield. Everything's more expensive at Cycle Craft. Of course, Cycle Craft does have a larger selection, especially of those higher-end goodies. But here's a comparison: a standard tune-up costs $92 and takes 1 week at Cycle Craft. At Brookdale, it's $60 and 1 day. That makes the choice clear to me. read more

I recently purchased my new bike from Cycle Craft. Mike was informative and took the time to explain all the new features to me. I appreciated his patience and never felt pressured to buy anything that I didn't want or need. After explaining what type of rider I was, Mike suggested a few different bikes to test ride and I decided on the 2016 "Flourish" by Giant with the step through frame. Given my height, Mike special ordered the frame size that would be best and since I couldn't decide on the color looking on-line, he ordered both for me. I chose the trendy white and brown model (as opposed to the aqua and black). The frame is all white with a few brown scrolls and the saddle, grips and even tires are all brown. It's quite unique looking. It's perfect for me as I just want to ride around town in comfort and the Flourish fits the bill. Despite having a great bike shop very close to me, I would recommend Cycle Craft if you want to choose from a variety of manufacturers. I brought my bicycle here for service I was told $134 to fix it. Didn't even call me to update me on the price. I went to pick it up & was charged 167.39 they had to change another part. Not having them do service on my bicycle in the future. It would of been better if they stuck close to the price to fix it. read more

I would give this business 10 stars if I could. We went there today to buy a seat post for an Internet-purchased bicycle and some chain lube. We were treated the same as if we were purchasing a $4,500 bicycle which we saw a customer ahead of us purchase. They take appropriate measures for COVID as you enter the store and direct you to what your needs are. They are friendly, helpful and have everything in stock from parts, bicycles, protective gear, clothing, transport equipment, you name it - they have it. Absolutely amazing experience here! Prior to finding a bike online I called here a bunch of times to ask questions and they were so patient and super nice. I called other bike shops in the area and they basically couldn't bothered. Pretty much everyone had the same reaction...'there's no inventory so good luck!' My experience with Cyclecraft was totally different! The gentleman I spoke to on the phone ..I think his name was Tomas suggested I check out the Cannondale Topstone...which I found online about a week later. It was delivered to me within a few days and I made an appointment to have it assembled there with Mitch Goldstein. I live about 10 minutes from a bike shop and still chose these guys because of how nice they were on the phone. The whole experience was stellar. When I arrived at the shop I was greeted by Mitch who helped me select pedals and a few other accessories. The bike was assembled and ready to ride in a few days. I've worked for a hard goods manufacturer in the ski industry so I had an expectation of a quality experience with regards to premium sporting goods stores when I walked in the door and Cycle Craft didn't disappoint. Never did I feel like I was being pressured to buy the top of the line (eg pricey gear) but explained to Jan, their resident triathlete, who first approached me as to what I was looking for and a price range. After running me through some options, educating me on products (Im a novice cyclist), he handed me off to Micheal, who works as a fitter, to complete the sale - again we discussed my price range, what i was looking to do and went from their. In the end, I walked out the door with a bike and accessories** that was admittedly a little over my price range (should mention that I never felt like I was being upsold) but very happy in my purchase! He suggested a few and told me the differences between them, never pushing the most expensive one on me. He also helped me with a bunch of accessories. It was well worth the drive out there and I'll be back again in the future for servicing (they give you a couple coupons for at least 2-3yrs worth of tune ups with the purchase of a bike).
