For the first 15 minutes we were yelled at by bicyclist and joggers and when we complained to the tour guide, he got very defensive. He gave very little information about historic landmarks and would google the information and play it back to us. Our so-called tour was 1 hr & 40 minutes when we paid for 2 hrs. I blame this company for not vetting him and he was not qualified to be a tour guide.

The forecast was for rain from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm so when I arrived, I asked the guy at the front desk if we could change our ride for one of the tours later in the day. They run tours at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. He responded and said that it was going to rain all day. I told him that was not the forecast and that it was supposed to be clear in the afternoon. He said that weathermen could not be trusted and he did not change our schedule. Shortly after the ride started, it rained heavily and the temperature was 39 degrees Fahrenheit. We were dressed for rain but didn't have gloves and between the cold and the wet, it was very rough. Within 20 minutes, one of my 14 year old sons was freezing and crying like I had never seen him cry. We had to leave the tour. When I got back to the bike shop, I asked if I was going to be given a refund. The same guy said immediately "No, you didn't ask to change the schedule." I was astonished. The first thing he said was that I didn't ask to change the schedule when he knew that was the first thing I asked. He had no problem looking me straight in the eye and lying. We don't get to New York often as we live in California. This guy really ruined our day and who knows when we will get back there. I recommend going with one of the tour operators below. https://bikerentalcentralpark.com https://centralparkbikerental.nyc https://biketourscentralpark.com https://www.nycparktours.com/bike-tour https://fancyapple.com/biketours I would avoid these tour operators as they are all the same bad people. https://bikerent.nyc https://www.centralpark.com/tours/bike https://centralparkrentbike.com

Do not rent a bike from this place!!! Make sure you read this first!!!…read more These people are scammers. The bikes are in very poor condition. The wheel on my bike popped off 2x, the axel was bent. I lt was about a 10 minute walk from the rental place and it took them 45 minutes to come to me and bring me a replacement bike. It ruined our excursion so I asked for a refund due to the bike breaking 2x and the 45 minute wait. The guy at the rental stand said that I was lying about the bike breaking! And asked why my hands were not dirty if I tried to fix it!! Imagine that the bike breaks 2 x then totally ruined the experience and then instead of apologizing they accuse you of being a liar!!! You can't make this stuff up. They would not give any refund at all. These people basically did not provide the service and took my money. I'll be disputing the charge with my credit card because what they did is theft.

The Irish woman who rang me up…read morewas friendly and outgoing, she gave us a map and the bikes we were given were actually good quality, especially for rentals. They were well built, the shifters and brakes worked well and they weren't too heavy as rental bikes in some cities can be. Unfortunately we got caught in 2 different downpours of rain and needed to shelter under a bridge for at least 40 minutes. As a result were late returning our bikes and the guy was initially going to charge us more $$ before giving me back my drivers license they'd held while we were out on the bikes. I reminded him that it'd just been raining for nearly a solid hour and we both looked like drowned rats and were soaked...It really wasn't our fault he got his bikes back a bit later than the 1 hour we'd initially rented them for. At that point he agreed not to charge us extra. 2 bikes rented for an hour cost $32.66 which was more than fair for the quality and condition.

I took the 2 hour Central Park walking tour…read more Our guide, Aaron, was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting details throughout the tour. However, I was a bit distracted by how often he consulted his phone for accuracy, and he did take a short call during the tour. I appreciated his creative use of music to help us imagine the park's history -- it was a unique touch -- though I personally didn't want to stand still quite so long for that portion. He had also planned to show us historic photos, but unfortunately, the tablet provided by the company had a dead battery, which reflected more on the company's preparation than on Aaron himself. On the positive side, we were lucky to get a VIP-style experience since we were the only two participants on the tour. Aaron was thoughtful and kind -- he even brought and offered us a poncho since it was raining. He also went out of his way to guide us on how to use the subway afterward so we could reach our next appointment on time, and he eagerly pointed out great photo spots and offered to take pictures for everyone. Overall, I'm glad I took this tour. Aaron clearly cared about our experience and made it memorable despite a few minor hiccups. FYI: this tour does not include Strawberry Fields or the Alice in Wonderland statue.

I've been coming to Bicycle Habitat for a few years now, and have been meaning to write them up. The person who helped me the most here is Matt. Matt is very personable and knowledgeable. The latest big thing I had done where was an annual tune up. I have a Cannondale commuter bike that had a flat. Even though my bike was bought about 8 months ago, it needed some major cleaning, minor repair work along with fixing the flat. Mechanic addressed everything and it only took a day turnaround. My bike looked basically brand new after the clean up. The other thing I want to point out is that Matt explained everything and even fixed small details like loose bolts, etc. that I overlooked. They also have a good selection of accessories and maintenance supplies and will help answer questions.

Since it's a busy spring weekend, I called back today just to verify they could still fit me in before I made the trip. The employee who answered, Christina, was incredibly rude from the start. She kept talking over me, claiming she "heard FRAME" when I clearly said stem, and giving me conflicting info about needing appointments days in advance. When I mentioned the conflicting information I'd received previously, she snapped and asked, "Then why are you calling?" It's shocking to be asked that when I'm simply trying to be a responsible customer and check shop capacity. While she eventually tried to backtrack and say I could come in, her initial attitude was completely unprofessional. I hope management addresses this, as the "manners" displayed were uncalled for. Lost a customer to the shop.
