One of the best wor wonton soup i've ever had. They do wontons right! I ordered delivery and the soup was packed well with soy sauce packets, utensils and napkins. The soup arrived piping hot. I love that the soup comes with an extra half sized broth (something most chinese restaurants fail to provide complimentary). An order comes with a dozen perfectly made wontons. You can taste the freshness. The broth is balanced well. There were generous portions of beef, chicken, shrimp, calamari, bok choy and carrots. I would definitely go back for their wor wonton. The food here is good. I typically come for the lunch special, which includes an entree, a sweet and sour soup and fried wonton strips. My favorite meal would be the honey walnut chicken, I don't feel like that's available a lot of places, it's usually made with prawns. The service is okay. The food can be quite pricey, I spent almost $40 on 4 appetizers - 2 potstickers and 2 pork, fried wontons. Those are some of my favorite things on the menu, but I tend to not order them anymore because of the price. read more

This is one of our go-to Chinese places in San Ramon. We've been getting take out dinner for the last 3 years. Consistently good Chinese food. Only down side is that it tends to be quite expensive. That being said, they give you A LOT of food, usually enough for a second meal the next day with the leftovers. I can't speak on what the dine-in experience is like, but there are usually 1 or 2 families in when we go to pick up. It's a pretty basic interior- nothing fancy, it's not a huge place. Great place! It's one of our go-to's in the area, and we have ordered plenty of times from here. We love the three dish and one soup deals. "Don't stray from the lunch specials and you should be fine." Should have listened to my own advice. Didn't and paid the price. In the past, duck was OK in soup. So this time, gambled and tried another duck item on the menu, their version of Peking duck. Meaty but borderline dry and chewy. Skin wasn't crispy and missing the glossy "lacquered" look. Seasoning was slightly off, too. Tiny hint of metallic aftertaste, reminiscent of that from Costco rotisserie chicken, except not as prominent. Peking Delight is probably one of the few good Chinese restaurants in the Tri-Valley area. Most Chinese restaurants come and go but this place has been around for at least 10 years and weathered COVID. They have a dinner special thats gone from a amazingly great deal to a decent deal. From what i remember 10 years ago, it was 3 dishes and soup for less than $30. Now its 3 dishes and soup for around $45. Prices have certainly gone up over the years, but compared to all the other food options out there, its still a decent deal. This time around i got the following: Soup - hot and sour (not really hot, but flavorful enough and filled with vegetables and meat), 3 courses - string beans and pork (a little disappointed it wasnt the really soft fried string beans), chicken and tofu (generous amounts of chicken and fried tofu in a brown sauce), and eggplant and garlic sauce (a little oily but full of flavor). I was pleased with the portions and the workers were friendly. I hope this place continues to survive, but it becomes more difficult for all parties as prices increase over the years. read more

This was my second visit here. Today the eight of us came for lunch after a game of golf nearby. I was hesitant because the first time was for dinner after a game of golf on Chinese New Year eve. I forget what we ordered but it wasn't memorable. The food lacked essence you get from the wok. Today we asked the server if we could have three checks. Four in our group ordered from the three item menu for $30. My sis & bro in law ordered a la carte as did hubby & myself. I ordered the luncheon special - sweet & sour chicken with steamed rice. Fried rice is the other option. Also comes with hot & sour soup and appetizer which are fried won ton skins. Sweet & sour isn't ethnic Chinese food but I love it. Good size portion and battered perfectly. Just enough vinegar. I didn't take pictures of the other food but all the entrees looked like generous portions. Everyone enjoyed the food. This must be a family business because we've seen the same people here for years. I could recommend so many good things on the menu. Let me just point out our favorites. Honey Walnut Prawns, $13.95, the best around. Salt & Pepper Rock Cod Fillet, $11.25, the kids' favorite (ask them to make it mild for the kids, but personally I like the jalapenos). Orange Beef, $10.50. Tomato Beef Chow Fun, $10.50. There are other great things on the menu, but I have to tell you about the service. Because of COVID, the best thing to do is phone in your order. They prepare it in usually about 15 minutes. When you get there, the doorway area is blocked off so that one customer at a time can come in, use the hand sanitizer, pay, and pick up the order. I have been a regular customer for years since I moved to San Ramon. I can say the food has been consistently delicious and only a handful of times when it is a miss. Price has gone up tremendously. Used to be able to get three dishes and a soup for $25. Now it is almost doubled. Place can be busy and swamped and you have to wait for your table as there's only about 10 tables inside. Peking Delight is located in the Lucky supermarket center on the corner of Alcosta and San Ramon Valley Rd. It's your typical neighborhood Cantonese Chinese restaurant. There are two large round tables in the back and the rest 4 tops. They are open 7 days a week without breaks in between. We decided to order off the 3 items plus soup for $28 menu with an added dish for $9. Fried flounder 3 stars fish was good a little too much sauce poured on top Westlake beef soup 3 stars sparse on the beef, tofu and veggies but tasted good Pork chops with black bean sauce 4 stars large cuts of pork Veggie glass noodle claypot 4 stars Salted fish chicken tofu clay pot 4 stars lots of tofu very little of other ingredients When we arrived the two large back tables were filled one table of old Chinese men and the other obviously their wives. The men were quiet and subdued, the women were loud and you would have thought the tea had tequila in it. The women were so loud the server apologized to the one other couple seated next to us. There was no more food on their tables so we knew the ruckus senior citizen outing would be over soon. And just before our first dish arrived they piled out. Service was good. Plenty of parking in the large shopping center. Now I can officially say I have eaten at every Chinese restaurant within the San Ramon City limits. Definitely a good value place. read more

I have unfortunately been disappointed by this long standing local restaurant multiple times. In comparison to other Chinese food in the area, I feel the portions are small, expensive and some dishes do not vary much in their different flavors. My most recent visit was on Christmas Eve, I know this is typically a busy time. We placed our order at 5:45pm over the phone and didn't walk out with our food until 7:45pm. We gave them extra time before heading to pick it up. When I showed up there were multiple people waiting with the same issue. The we're pumping out DoorDash orders with priority over phone in orders. If your restaurant is that busy, you should underpromise and over deliver. Not the opposite. You should not have multiple people waiting multiple hours for food under any circumstance. This is strike 3 for me and I will not return. read more

Solid Chinese American food! My high school aged son has visited a few times for lunch on a school day. Him and his friends all agree that the food is fast and good. They said the lunch special is a great deal with big portions. My son wanted us to try and the three item family meal was perfect for our family's lunch. We enjoyed the scrambled egg with shrimp, broccoli beef and black bean chicken. The dishes were prepared well-not too salty or oily and had plenty of crisp tender vegetables. This is our go to Chinese restaurant as it is authentic Cantonese food. Service is quick. It is a small restaurant with not many tables. Cleanliness is what is expected of a hole in a wall. We have been coming here through the years and have noticed a decline. The hot and sour soup was not as well balanced as before. The beef stew hot pot is not as tasty and had fewer contents as before. The Peking spareribs were on the dry side and the garlic eggplant was greasy. The portion size was generous however. It comes along with the increase in prices. We got take out recently and felt short changed portion wise compared to eating at the restaurant. I found this place while walking around waiting for my car to charge. It was quick and there was no one else there and I got the food to go. Both chicken dishes were swimming in oil and there was zero flavor. The meal came to about $46 and we threw both of the dishes away after tasting them and split the wonton soup which was very good which is why I scored this a 2 and not a 1. Great local restaurant. Saw this place on accident, was familiar with the plaza since I used to work in San Ramon, I was charging the Tesla and was getting late. Didn't want Mc Donald's at all. Checked out their menu at the window and went for it. Service was amazing, they were friendly and welcoming. I guess they had a few locals in and you can tell they love people. Food was perfect. Ordered fried rice and home walnut prawns. It was full of flavor, rice was cooked just right and the walnut prawns was amazing, also ordered some eggrolls and those were yummy. Table of 8 of us got 9 dishes and was $108. Not bad at all. INSIDE is not glamorous and probably not the cleanest, but it's a good tasting restaurant for sure. I'm the same shopping plaza as Lucky's. We used to eat (takeout) here a couple of times a month. My wife loves their wonton soup. I guess over time, we just stopped ordering, no reason. We just recently returned for a to-go order because my wife really wanted some wonton soup. We ordered fried rice, chow-mein, wonton soup, lemon chicken, and tomato beef. The food was excellent! I love good chow-mein and fried rice. The wonton soup was great. Lemon chicken I generally am not impressed with from most places because either they slathered it in the lemon sauce, or they over fried it, or the fryer oil isn't fresh. The lemon chicken was perfection! The batter was fried light and crispy (in color and texture), wasn't dripping in fryer oil, and they put the sauce on the side, letting me choose how much sauce I wanted on it. The tomato beef was a surprise. Maybe I ordered it wrong, but I was expecting tomato beef chow-mein, but there was no chow-mein - it was tomatoe/beef/peppers/sauce - that's it. Maybe I did it wrong. It was mostly tomatoes, not much beef. Still don't care, it was good. How good was it? Well, I don't normally stuff myself unless I'm at a buffet. I had one plate of food and knew I was full enough. I went back for a second plate and overstuffed myself. I just couldn't say no - it was that good. Portions were good. We had food for a couple of days, family of 3.
