What we got: Mongolian steak with fried rice, no scallions and Kung Pao chicken with brown rice. The chicken on the Kung Pao was over cooked and chewy. I order fried rice with Kung Pao because the combination of the Kung Pao sauce with the fried rice is unbelievable. I always get their Kung Pao Chicken which I normally love - however today the chicken seems off. Normally, the chicken is very juicy and a great mix with the crunchy veggies and steamed rice. However, tonight a majority of the chicken seemed tough and looked frozen. When I asked if they had changed in their cooking process. I see Pei Wei everywhere around Phoenix but I had never eaten at one before. I was with a large group that walked over from a nearby conference hotel on a Sunday evening. To our delight, there was no line and there was plenty of open seating. We all ordered and our food came out all at once in about 10 minutes. Impressive. My meal, though, was only okay. I ordered the ahi poke salad. I wonder if the ahi had been sitting in marinade all day. It didn't have a lot of firmness to it--it kinda reminded me of watermelon--and the only flavor was from the onion and dressing. The size of the salad was great, but I was disappointed that most of the lettuce was iceberg. It was crunchy and fresh, but fairly bland, even with dressing. The green onions in the salad included a white portion with roots on it. I have had good ahi salads around Phoenix at other places, so I know it can be done well. Just not at this Pei Wei. However, the service and atmosphere was pleasant enough. I'd be okay with visiting the chain again but I'd order something else. read more

There was a bit of Vietnam (salad rolls), a smidge of Tokyo (sushi), a swath of Chiang Mai (pad thai), Chinese takeout for the masses (chow mein), and all strange hybrid points in between (mango California rolls anyone?). So....I got a new coworker and I asked him what he was getting for lunch one day. He replied, "Pei Wei" and said that he had been there a bunch of times in the past month. They have a killer deal on their General Tso's entree right now for only $5.00! Can't really beat that! All their other entrees are $8-10 or more, so for $5.00, what do you have to lose? I decided that's what I was having for lunch. I went online and placed my order via their website (very easy to do, very user friendly!). I decided to go with a combo of different things. The $5.00 entree comes with a small size, with white rice. I decided to hook up my order and went with a combo of chicken AND shrimp, and upgraded my bowl to fried rice for an extra buck. When all was said and done, I had a regular/large bowl for a little over $7.00. Score! I paid over the website and drove down to pick it up. Pick up was easy. Walked in, told them my name, they handed me my food, I filled my bag with utensils, napkins and a couple of fortune cookies and I was on my way. Here is how it was.............. General Tso Entree- First of all, this is a large sized bowl. It had significant weight to it! I could see a bunch of pieces of chicken/shrimp layered on top with some carrots and chiles as well as the one token piece of broccoli, lol. This was covered in a thick, rich sauce and all layered on top of a mound of fried rice. It was pretty tasty. Kind of like a cross between an orange chicken and a kung pao. The chicken and shrimp are coated in a batter and fried up. I liked the shrimp better than the chicken, plus there was more of it, too. Next time, I think I am just going with straight up shrimp, and not with split proteins. The fried rice was good, and the veggies gave it some good texture. The sauce was a little too sweet though, and there was a ton of it. I might go "light sauce" next time, too. I finished most of the bowl and was stuffed! Overall, I was happy that my new coworker made the recommendation. It was a filling lunch that tasted pretty decent. Pair that with the fact that it was right around $7.00 (and can be less than that if you just get white rice and chicken or beef), this makes it a killer lunch deal. The ladies at the counter were friendly, and this place is only about a 7 minute drive from work. I may have to come back and get it again, soon! read more

I am writing to express serious concern regarding inappropriate and unacceptable behavior exhibited by the manager at your Pei Wei location. During my visits, I have observed the manager engaging in conduct that is entirely unprofessional and disturbing. He repeatedly invades the personal space of young female employees, often standing uncomfortably close to them and making unnecessary physical contact. Most concerning, I witnessed him kiss one of the girls on the head a gesture that is completely inappropriate, especially in a workplace setting and given that some of these employees appear to be underage. His behavior includes flirtatious and suggestive remarks that are entirely uncalled for and create an unsafe working environment. This situation warrants immediate attention. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected at their place of work especially young employees who may not yet feel empowered to speak for themselves. I hope you take this complaint seriously. read more

I am done with Pei Wei. I forgot that I had food poisoning a few years ago from the shrimp. 1 week ago I ordered Bourbon chicken and a small orange chicken dinner. Sauces were on the side, honey and also orange. I should have tasted everything when it was delivered to my car. When I got home I tasted and EVERYTHING tasted like it had a lot of VINEGAR in it. Now the only way I like vinegar is on a salad. I ate less than half and was very sick. I had this sick feeling in my stomach for 3 days. On Sat I called the restaurant and asked for the manager. I was told they were very busy and would call me back. I told the girl what it was about and wanted to know about returning the rest of the food. If I had been at the restaurant I would have sent the food back. Nobody called me. I called many times after that and 9 times out of 10 I was unable to get anybody to even answer the phone. 4-14-2021 As of this date, we have been corresponding with the Regional Manager and we have not heard back since he promised us an e-card. I informed him that the promised e-card never arrived. He referred to the fact that the e-card would not come from their site. I checked junk mail and there was nothing there. He stated that he would investigate. No response. Austin Sheets made promises that he never kept. Shame on you! Our first visit and what a horrible experience. The waitress was rude, the manager never said one word to us once we explained that the waitress was not honoring our request to stop making so much noise with her slamming the broom into the dustpan. We were trying to converse and we could not hear each other because of the incident with the dustpan. We asked her to stop and she refused. Manager never apologized nor did she. We felt that we were not important enough to stop the commotion. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Not once did the manager come over to us. We were ignored for the rest of our visit. Received a $10 voucher for Peiwei after the manager reached out to me. I don't ask for anything or review restaurants for vouchers. I just want the staff to know they were not at their best that day and being told you can't stay in the restaurant long because they closed in 45 minutes and the chairs were on top of half of the tables in the place. The food that was served also doesn't not want to make me come back or spend another dime. I hope the manager did take notice and I hope they make the place a better destination for people to spend their hard earned money. read more
