But setting aside my pro-Starbucks bias because both Starbucks and myself are from Seattle, I would say that espresso from Starbucks has the flavor edge. And even though Peet's is in a convenient location, especially since I work nearby, I will going forward get my noon quad espresso from Starbuck's at the opposite end of Rolling Road. Reason? I have been going to this Peet's Coffee for over 10 years (even before that when it was called Caribou Coffee) and during those experiences, the Baristas/Management have always been professional while delivering stellar service to me, my friends and family. Unfortunately, today on three separate occasions (yes, back to back to back) during two separate coffee trips, Zarath had an aggressive tone/attitude with me when I was asking a barista for something as simple as a utensil to eat my Danish after my purchase. She also interrupted my conversation with a Barista twice stating sternly that "We have work to do" and aggressively moving a table on the exact spot that I was standing without any regard to my space. When I asked her what her name was, she smirked and stated that she was the Store Manager and when I I repeated my question, she simply pointed at her name tag without acknowledging me any further. I am not sure what standards this Peet's have allowed themselves to fall to but The Regional Director and General Manager need to coach Zarath immediately on the appropriate ways to communicate with customers based on the level of service quality expected from a representative of Peet's. As a longtime loyal Peet's customer, I expect a follow-up from Leadership and if this this hostility continues, I will be going right to the Better Business Bureau for a Corporate Executive Escalation. read more

Haven't been here in almost 7 years because typically starbucks is closer to where I live or where I'm running errands but came here with a friend after walking lake braddock. On a Saturday around 10ish, there was a line and it was pretty full (although 1-2 tables outside, and ~3 tables inside were still available). My friend has the app and you can get points that way. Because of how many people were there and the time we went, we did have to wait a bit for our drinks. There is no drive thru but you can order ahead for pick up in store through the app. In regards to the coffee, I'm not a coffee expert but it tasted pretty standard. read more

I actually love this place, so let me preface with that. But 50% of the time I order an oatmilk latte it tastes like cinnamon. I worked at coffee shops for 15 years and I'm guessing that they use the same tin they steam the horchata mix in and without rinsing it dump more oatmilk in... or they don't empty the steaming wands after each use, both of which are bad practice. This is a decent spot. My biggest headache is parking in here. Is there a party I'm not privy to? Kings Park Shopping Center is aggravating. Okay let's get to Peets. I'm not a huge fan of their coffee blends. Yet I think their cold frappes are better than Starbucks. These are tasty treats, have caffeine, and can allow a bit of relaxation. All of the employees here are super nice. Wait times aren't long at all. They do a lot of online ordering. This new phenomenon is good for people in a hurry. My staff and I love Peet's coffee when it's made correctly. We order from the Burke location 2-3x per week. Lately (past 3 months), they have made our orders so poorly that we have returned them to remake them. Only 20% of the time our drinks are made correctly, the stars are only for the barista that knows how to make the drinks correctly. Wish she could train the rest. This location has always been very reliable. The coffee is always delicious, facility is clean and staff is responsive to requests to clean bathroom or tables. Pre-ordered coffee is always made efficiently to avoid delays. The staff is kind and friendly, willing to fluctuate between pre-caffeine silence, or higher energy chats. Personally, I favor Peet's over Starbucks and choose to visit this place when I'm craving a latte, especially during pumpkin spice season. I find the staff to be very friendly and the coffee consistently delicious. The establishment is well-maintained and has a pleasant setup. Been going to this Peet's for years near the library and the espresso drinks are always great! I like extra shots to sip on over time. That can make a drink bitter (and Peet's is stronger coffee than most anyway) but not with these baristas. Wonderful baristas here who are warm and funny. Really enjoy the "porch" area outside too where you can read/study or just chill, very relaxing space. Always fast service and kindness. Love this Peet's!!! read more

People have bad days, but the management and some of the folks behind the counter come off as very rude, like you're disturbing them for ordering. It's super hard during a pandemic to keep serving people, and God knows working with the public is challenging. I came to this location today for the very first time, and it was a great experience. If not for just to relax ap, drink some coffee and get out of the scorching heat! At around 6pm there were only two other people sitting inside and chilling with their coffee. I ordered the mocha Javiva and it was simply awesome. It took the lady behind the counter about 3 minutes to prepare it and bring it to the counter. She was also pretty helpful in explaining some of the other types of brewed coffee. While they play music just like that other famous coffee place, thus place seemed to be much more tranquil. If I wanted to bring my laptop and get some work done, I'm sure this would be a good place to do that. One of these days I will have to try out one of their famous teas as well! read more

I still prefer the chai at Starbucks and Caribou's hot chocolate was the best but all in all I'm happy with Peet's. This particular Peet's is not consistent in regards to their hours of operation. They're supposed to open at 6am. Whenever we (my husband and I) try to order coffee on the app, a message comes up stating that they'll open at 4pm. We then go to the store to make our purchase and we see the sign that literally says that they open at 6 am on week days. This morning we went to the store and we knocked on the door because the doors were locked. There were two guys. The tall one with black hair looked at us several times but never said anything even when we were asking if they were open. They just continued doing what they were doing. I asked them again through the crack of the door if they were open and the shorter guy finally responded "not yet". They looked like they were rushing. I think it is important for the manager of this store that this is really bad for the business. Maybe they don't care, but it's very inconvenient for the customers. Worse customer service! read more

I'm a big fan of green tea latte with coconut milk and no sugar. Finally tried it at Pete's Coffee and was happy to discover one of the best! Order the same thing at Starbucks for example, and you'll get blasted with sugar in spite of requesting no sugar. The baristas will apologetically explain (after the fact) that there's sugar already in the green tea powder mix and they simply don't add any extra. But enough about Sugarbucks... At this Pete's Coffee location (Burke Lake Rd), the staff is friendly and helpful, Wi-Fi works very well and there are plenty of tables with a higher than average table-to-electrical-outlet ratio. What more could a budding coffee shop aficionado want? I also tried their lemon bread (2 thumbs up!) and roasted tomato quinoa quiche. The quiche had a flavor reminiscent of turkey stuffing which is not what I was expecting. This might have worked, but the taste of what I'm guessing is sage, was too strong for me. Well, no place is perfect, but they come pretty close. To end on a good note, let me add that this location is very clean (which I'm also a big fan of) with a pleasant urban-hip modern interior. Peet's is definitely the best! It's located in the strip mall close to the CVS. Usually parking is a breeze, but it can be a little tricky in the evenings. One of my favorite drinks there is the dirty Chai! It's a Chai with a shot of expresso! There's also a good amount of seating if you'd like to hang out or get a little work done. Really happy that this new Peet's is here! It's all shiny and pretty inside, which unfortunately is not the case for the parking lot and rest of the strip mall surrounding Peet's, as there is a ton of construction going on and it's kind of a mess. This is not the business's fault though, of course, and once you walk through those glass doors, it's a different world. This Peet's is very clean, with some of the friendliest baristas I think I've ever met! It's not enormous, but there is quite a bit of seating, a well-stocked sugar bar, and a cool coffee bean display to look at while waiting for your bevvie to be ready. I got a medium pumpkin latte with soy milk and 1/2 the amount of syrup pumps, and it was perfect. I might even like it better than Starbucks' PSL! (Gasp!) Unfortunately I forgot to check in until after I had already left (actually there is like 0% reception inside the joint so check in before you enter!) but this location is also currently offering a Yelp check-in deal for $1 off any pumpkin drinks. It's a pleasant surprise to see Peet's opening around Northern Virginia this summer :)! First impression- I was impressed with their spacious seating environment and clear open bar. Great for both a quick coffee run or a long tea break. I was very pleased with their choice of almond milk and unique iced(or hot) tea selections. I've had Iced Caramel Macchiato with almond milk & Jasmine lime tea- both delicious!
