First time trying Peel because of so many people who recommended them! Food - we got the jalapeño poppers (pictured) and they were quite tasty! Very different from what I'm used to - deep fried, breaded jalapeño with cream cheese. It was a nice change and the nice guy who answered the phone assured us they would be good. We also got the margarita pizza and added mushrooms, because, you gotta have mushies! You can tell the ingredients are fresh, love the size of the ingredients (sometimes you get tiny mushrooms, tomatoes etc) but not here! We did get our order to go and love about 20 min away. I'm sure if we ate there it would have been even better on top of it already being so good! The staff - wow, you all are killin it! EVERYONE was so very friendly! I inquired about the ice cream because they have a separate building outside for ice cream and one gal was so quick to offer to add that to our order - I mean, how can you turn down Little Man Ice Cream?! This place is great in several ways. First the host was fun and funny and considerate and helpful. Second the beer selection was on point. I had an Aces & Eights which was just right for the evening. Third the food was delicious. We each got a 12" pizza or a calzone for ourselves. The dessert menu looked very enticing but we were so stuffed from the main dishes that we couldn't fit anything more in. Lastly the music was perfect. Super enjoyable jazz singers over the audio. We just had the most amazing dinner at Peel! We had the warmed brie with flatbread, the shishito peppers and the pesca frutta pizza. We also enjoyed a fresh lemonade and a refreshing moscow mule. We dined outside on the patio and it was the perfect ambiance. Our server/bartender was Aspen and she was the best! She gave us great recommendations and made us delicious drinks. We cant wait to come back! Aspen said they will be opening a cocktail lounge soon. If your in Frederick this is definitely worth a stop. They had reasonable prices also. read more

This is a rather mixed review, but gave only one star due to more disappointment than good. I really, really wanted to write a rave review! I LOVE small business! I will support and have supported them because it is vital!!! And I don't mind paying more, when it is GOOD!!! But sadly tonight, this was all just ok. I am so sad to say...just nothing to write home about. I really wanted to enjoy this evening out with my son, literally sit outside! Good first, their new location, right next to their old place is nicely built and the patio is and will be amazing when done with the added kiosks for retail and ice cream! The fire pit, though not on will be a certain draw! I will also say that the managers (I assume?, not sure who they were; know their job and do it well, they came out and explained, and did what they could to make things right, and I commend them, and do truly appreciate it!!) First, I was really disappointed with no pasta selections, I had eaten there one time before and really enjoyed them. This was after we almost left. I get waitressing is hard, and it is hard work, but when they come by then do not, yet visit other tables several times, I gave her one more chance, and thankfully she came back over. I also get she is very young, I have lots of grace for that. Later discovered, by her own admission, she has worked there for a year, so...one would then think, you know how to do this job and can hand a few tables at the same time. I had assumed, without checking a menu first (I drove home from work in Loveland, was tired, just wanted a quick bite NOT fast food, so didn't look) that pastas were still a choice and while I am now not eating white flour, many places offer gluten free or veggies in lieu of pasta. So, I was stuck with pizza, or a salad, I did try the salad that was recommended it was good, not great, but good. I was offered any pizza, the kid's size and could be gluten free. Come to find out that is not an option (which leads me to think the gluten free crusts are pre bought, one size, if so, additional $6 seemed very steep to me, for one pizza for myself) They did fix this for me, and I really appreciated it. The brussel sprout with smoked cheddar sounded really good, and I envisioned a pizza topped with actual brussel sprouts and bacon. What came was so very sad. Maybe an entire slice of bacon was diced on this pizza, and then there were a total of maybe 7 brussel leaves. Yes, that's right...leaves. This full size was a $19 pizza! Then add $6 for gluten free crust, you have got to be kidding. The kids size alone was $15! My son ordered the 3 meat, and it had a decent amount of meat. But for $20? If you read any of my other reviews, I do rave when it is GOOD and impresses me. I am sorry to say, MOD pizza does a much better job at great toppings, same size pizza for less than half their price, gluten free or cauliflower for $3 more, all the toppings you can pile on if you want, wood fired. My family of 3, can each order a pizza, drinks and their No Name cakes for less then what my son and I ordered tonight (1 pizza, 1 full size but the kids price and one $8 salad) and we also just had water! UGH! I want small business to win. But this was such a huge bummer, and sadly we won't be returning. It just is not that good to justify the cost for what you receive. read more

This restaurant blew my expectations out of the water. The pizza was absolutely incredible- probably the best wood fired pizza I've had in Colorado. The crust is soft while still being crunchy, very slightly sweet, and perfectly chewy. The sauce was fresh and light, and the meat on top was so insanely good. The pulled pork and bacon tasted like they were both made in a high end bbq restaurant, I was shocked to learn that they were made in house. We almost ordered a second pizza to go because it was just that good. Our waiter was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and quick. Some of the best service I've experienced in a long time. The restaurant was very clean and had a modern industrial feel to it that was really nice. It wasn't crowded at all, which truly shocked me after tasting how incredible the pizza was. Once again, Yelp comes through for me on a recent trip to Colorado when I was looking for a dinner spot in the Erie area. This place got great reviews so we went. Located in a cute little 'downtown' area in Frederick, the place was bustling on a Friday evening. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. We chose outdoors given it was a nice evening. Our server came quickly bringing water and taking our drink order. The bar menu has some fun and unique cocktails -- we went for refreshing. I honestly can't remember the names of the cocktails other than they were made with vodka and were delicious. At our table we had the Margherita pizza, the "S.M.P.R.O" pizza and the pasta special. We all started with salads -- each trying a different one from the house salad, R.R.P and the Kale to start. I will say I could have given this place 5 stars had it not been for the fact that my house salad did not have the menu promised "Chef's Selection of Seasonal Vegetables" in it. I think I found one little tiny quarter slice of radish. It did not really matter too much (although I was disappointed) as the greens were fresh and the vinaigrette tasty. I had a bit of my friends R.R.P. and the Ancho Chili Dressing was out of this world. The main dishes were great... I scarfed half of my pizza all by myself and went nuts for the crust. The hubs and I came here with friends and their new baby. The space was perfect for catching up and we were able to enjoy a long lunch without feeling rushed. Service was really fast and friendly and the food was outstanding. We shared a salad to start and it was a very large "small" house salad. The dressing and ingredients were fresh and unique. For the pizza I went with the mushroom and the hubs did a meat pizza. My mushroom pizza had thin but chewy dough that was so delicious. I didn't really taste any truffle so that could be kicked up a bit but otherwise this was a solid pizza. The hubs enjoyed his pizza quite a bit also although I didn't try a bite. Was helping friends move in and wandered into this place starving! I was blown away by how friendly the staff was and fell in love with the atmosphere which is both charming quirky and very cool. It has a laid back feel that's still very classy. You could come here dressed down or would be excellent for a date night. We sat indoors but they have a great seating space with plenty of shade outside as well. Our server Jana was helpful in making some great suggestions and provided incredible service- we loved the short rib pizza! They offer great local brews, a solid wine list and have a whiz of a bartender who made me two bartenders choice cocktails that were out of this world. Alongside their menu which is focused on salads, pastas and pizzas (none of which sound like they would disappoint.) was a tasty selection of specials. It's been years since we visited Peel - my husband keeps asking to go back so the other night, we ordered takeout. Unfortunately, it was not an awesome experience. It was nice that they are offering curbside delivery - maybe my favorite 2020 addition, generally speaking. We ordered the Brussels Sprouts App and Capra and Pepperoni Rustica pizzas. The Brussels sprouts were huge - and not in a good way. Each one was massive with a very tough core still attached. They weren't the smaller, bite sized roasted Brussels you imagine or may be accustomed too (could have just been this week's batch). But we had to gnaw around this very tough middle core/stem - just not my favorite. Both pizzas were just okay - both too charred, in our opinion, from the wood fired oven. I realize that's part of the flavor, the rustic element of a kiss from the fire. It was just a bit overdone and honestly off-putting. Add to all of this that I think they're over-priced and it was just a disappointing experience overall. I'm sad to not be able to give a local small business a glowing review - looks like others have had a different experience from Peel. For now, we'll likely go elsewhere. read more

We don't do pizza too often because we eat lower carb, and we generally save it for beer but since it was national pizza day we decided to give this place a try again since Mountain Cowboy brewing is just down the street (and they are fantastic). It was a big mistake. 1) Service, and friendly and prompt. However the bartender forgot to put in one of our pizza orders. 2) Since we preferred the beer choice at Mountain Cowboy we got the order to go, and decided we'd get a couple of salads while we waited for the pizza. Well, the pizza came out WAY before the salads... seriously? Fine.... we waited for the salads and ate them when they came out. The salads were fine. 3) Ok this ALMOST got them 1 star... the pizza. We ordered the pulled pork pizza. The crust had some very nasty burnt flavors, not the normal flavors you get from thin wood fired pizzas either. By the time we ate the pizza it was soggy too. But even worse.. the flavor... the pulled pork had a fishy tatse... seriously I just burped up a fishy burp - think the same fishy burb you get from a fish oil pill. I'm trying to drink enough beer to kill this flavor. 3a) My daughter got a plain pepperoni pizza and her crust was burnt too, but other than that she said it was ok. We found out this place on yelp while looking for a nearby place to ear after furniture shopping at AFW. We had the Crimson Bloom (Blood Orange cocktail amazing!, Peach Agave Wild Cider on tap (delish!), a side house salad (enormous for $4 win!), and we shared the pepperoni rustica (omg ) pizza. Everything was super delicious and I will be back to try the lavender creme brûlée and bread pudding (they were closing so we didn't order ). Here is a restaurant made for lovers of great cuisine right in the heart of Frederick that could be equally at home in San Francisco, New York, Denver, etc. Beautiful interior design, unique menu with wonderful salads, amazing pizzas, and more. Every detail has been well thought out. Even the tap water is poured from a wine bottle. Our waitress, Ashley, was very personable and professional and didn't miss a step. I was there with a client for lunch and we had the seasonal salad and the RPR salad. Delicious and artistic presentations. The pizzas; the gluten free mushroom pizza had such outstanding flavor it made me question whether I had ever had mushrooms on a pizza before. The sausage pizza was also very good. The couple times I've eaten here it's been just fine, however 2x in the last 6 weeks I've tried to visit within the scheduled business hours and the doors have been locked, earlier than 730 both times. Stopped-in for lunch on a Monday, to check out some Napoletana style pizza outside of the metro area. Loved the three-meat and the jalapeno bacon pies. All top shelf artisan-quality ingredients, and excellent neapolitan-style dough. Great service and friendly staff. Spoke with one of the owners who said the tables and bar are all reclaimed wood from an old bowling alley. The bar stools were former fixtures in Denver's Union Station. Great (and unexpected) atmosphere for a little pizza joint in Frederick. Would definitely recommend this spot to friends and family. PRO TIP: If you get the three-meat pie, add Calabrian Chilies. So incredibly overpriced I just cant go back. With all the options for great pizza around here, MOD, Bash, etc. I cant justify spending twice as much for an "okay" pizza. Its good, but nothing great. Paul and I stopped in Frederick on our way to Fort Collins and had the pleasure of eating dinner at Peel. We arrived around 5:00 P.M. and were immediately seated. Our server and everyone else who worked and who were eating at Peel were smiling and happy. At one point our server disappeared for quite awhile. When she returned, she apologized and explained that there was a staff meeting. No problem. Paul and I both ordered the passion fruit salad, and we both agreed that it was missing something. However, I appreciated the super fresh greens and the lovely Gorgonzola. Paul and I split the three meat pizza, which I enjoyed more than he did. I am a fan of charred crust, and he is not, so he avoided the char and I devoured it. We both agreed that the sauce was too runny and that it was lacking oomph. The meats were very good, and the cheese was nice and gooey. We split the lavender creme brûlée for dessert. Once again, Paul thought the top was over "bruleed," but I loved it. Just for the record, I am also a fan of burnt marshmallows. Neither one of us could detect the lavender, but it was still good. If you are ever in Frederick, CO, Peel is worth a visit. read more

I really would like to give this place 3 1/2 stars, but, the food was delicious and the service was friendly, so, I'm bumping them up a little bit. I had a pineapple mojito, which was very refreshing, albeit, not very strong. I shared the smallest meat and cheese plate with a friend and it was laughable. It was so tiny, it looked like something that might be served on SNL to make fun of small restaurant portions. There were literally 2 raisins on the plate, 1 piece of cheese, several TINY pieces of salami and some greens. The cuban panini I had was absolutely delicious - the outside was very crispy and it was a flavorful sandwich, but, there wasn't a lot of meat in it. I felt like the bread was the star of the panini. The side salad was probably the best part of the meal. It had the most delicious dressing and toasted almonds. It was flavorful and varying in textures. The service was good. Our server was friendly, but, not particularly attentive or expedient - it was fine, though, they were a bit busy and the manager was helping the servers out - you have to cut them slack when they're really busy and I appreciate the "all hands on deck" mentality. They do leave a bottle of water on your table, which definitely mitigated the lack of table check-ins. I would definitely go back to Peel - I just wouldn't get the meat and cheese plate again!
