one of the best coffee houses I've been in in a very long time. What makes it so great isn't one thing. wither its the Great drinks brewed with care or frosty drinks whirled with fervor. They have the tea lovers covered equally with an assortment of hot teas (non caff herbal too) and iced teas (my wife loves the iced teas). There is the space that is the Peekskill Coffee house. Its "Flat Iron Awesome". The Coffee House has been called "Peekskill's Living Room" for good reason. It's tall bronze colored tin ceilings greet you as you enter. The massively windowed coffee house has all the glorious light emitting ability I could ever want to read by (windows are about 4'x8'+ and theres lots of them). My wife says i'm a food snob so take this with a grain of salt. I think the espresso is so good it deserves better cakes. I don't hate them but wouldn't mind seeing another notch or two more in the cake arena. the have other pastry and cookies that are fine. Bottom line. The coffee rocks. The personalities are riveting. I rarely go to the Peekskill Coffee house but I decided to stop by this morning. It was busy and I ordered my coffee then struggled for 30 mins to connect to their WiFi. When I asked for help, I was ignored. When I asked another girl that worked there for help she told me she would help if I calmed down.... I was calm just needed help! When I asked for the manager she was very nasty, rude and unprofessional. I will never go back there.... plus their coffee is not great and overpriced! read more

Delicious coffee, all of it. Really love the cold brew. I'm always glad to find an independent coffee house in Westchester that is high quality. The food is pretty good too, they have a good selection of crepes they make there, and they also have muffins/pastries/etc. Space-wise, it's a nice big area where you see a lot of people getting comfortable and working on art projects, or studying, or playing board games. Great cup of joe , lively and friendly service and plenty of room to chill, read, work or socialize in this "village square" of a coffee shop...good espresso shot with a side of seltzer and a little chocolate. Baked goods are just okay, crepes and sandwiches are okay as well but could do with a little more seasoning and be a little more filling. I'm not sure how I've never gotten around to writing a review for my favorite lounge/study/cafe/gameroom/meditation/eatery/etc. location. I guess after years and years of consistently endearing experiences, no one particular day stood out enough to warrant a Yelp. That's no excuse though, so here it is, my ode to a familiar mainstay that's become something of a cultural institution. Here's the deal - if all you're concerned with is the quality of the coffee, stop reading this and just go. The house brew, "Flatiron", is a workhorse, strong and dependable. Coffees of the moment weave in and out frequently, making it easy to test for new favorites while refining one's palate. In addition to drip, there are a variety of espresso offerings to satisfy all combinations of caffeinated cravings. Indecisive? Grab a red eye and enjoy the best of both worlds. Having tried several spots in the region (Coffee Labs, Antoinette's, Black Cow, etc.) I have the utmost confidence in placing PCH atop the list for quality and consistency. Were it for the coffee alone, Peekskill Coffee House might still earn itself a five star mark, but so much of the charm and appeal would be lost. In an era where coffee has been largely commodified, great value can be found in the context surrounding its delivery. Housed in a building bearing the name of its signature blend, the atmosphere at PCH is casual and welcoming. It is at once contemporary and classic, littered with a hodgepodge of colorful and worn furniture. Doubling as a local art gallery, its walls cycle through exhibits often, showcasing such varied works as photography sets, tattoo artist catalogs, and even elementary school finger paintings. The ceiling is lined in patterned copper, a holdover fashion from the building's century-old construction aesthetic. All in all it weaves together in a controlled chaos that mirrors the robust and disparate customer base. Infrequent perhaps in general society, it is quite a regular occurrence to find all walks of life enjoying an aromatic respite from the daily grind here. Not simply some hipster hangout (whatever that means), the Coffee House is equally home to the businessman, the layabout, the construction worker, the bookworm, the student, the hip hop head, the square, seemingly any and all who've had the good sense to seek its shelter. There is a genuine sense of community provided by this diversity that I feel should not be discounted. In an industry plagued with stereotypes of cooler-than-thou cultural snobbery, PCH takes all comers. It's refreshing. The staff are as much a part of the experience as the product and setting. While there are fresh faces often to be found, there is also notable employee retention, with the longer-tenured baristas becoming the equivalent of "regulars" for frequent visitors. The camaraderie on display is infectious and spits in the face of the forced, plasticine glad-handing we've all become a bit too comfortable with in retail settings. Individual personalities are discernible in the flow and atmosphere provided by each. Employee music playlists help to punctuate these differences, with soundtracks ranging from thumb-picked acoustic fare, to '80s-inspired chiptune, to '90s alternative, and anywhere in between. The additional expansion area behind the counter area has eased well-deserved crowding issues and the relatively new creperie offerings serve as luscious icing on an already delicious cake. They say you can't please all of the people all of the time, and maybe that's true. Peekskill Coffee House makes a damn good effort to turn that phrase on its head, however. Need a boost before work? Stop in. Cramming for finals? Stop in. Sunk into a good book and looking to get out of the house? Stop in. Feel like taking in a local musical act? Stop in. Want to catch a break from the heat with an ice cold smoothie? Stop in. If you haven't found yourself doing so just yet, stop in! There's a good chance something you weren't even sure you were looking for will be waiting to meet you inside. read more

To start off, I actually live less than 5 miles from the Peekskill Coffee House, and didn't find it driving north from Columbus, Ohio, when looking for a new bagel place. Better than half of these reviews are fake. There is 1 small low end hotel and 1 no-tell motel in the area, so you need to question all of these fabulous out-of-owner's reviews. The food is mediocre, the coffee is okay. The people who work here are polite, courteous, and friendly, but the food is blasé. The crepes, both sweet and savory, are a poor effort. Watching them prepare their crepes and other dishes with their intent is obviously on-target for success, but that achievement eludes them because the recipes they use are simply not that great. The owners are either content with their profit, lazy, or lack the palette to provide better food- for which I would love to be able give them 5 stars, and will try them every so often to see if they improve. If nothing else, Peekskill, a charming town with some good restaurants and some great events throughout the year. Good luck Peekskill Coffee house, I'm still rooting for you. read more

The staff was yelling LOUDLY across the cafe to each other talking about items that were clearly not work related, entertaining each other but very distracting (and frankly annoying) for us as guests in their space. We ordered a coffee, which was good, they have a nice array of non-dairy milks to choose from. We also ordered one of their vegan waffles which was prominently advertised as soon as you walk in. (Along with their vegan crepe options too) 15 minutes after ordering, we were hollered for to come pick up our waffle upon which the VERY distracted worker noticed it was supposed to be vegan- so he retracted the waffle saying "whoops I forgot to make it vegan" - I appreciate that he took the waffle back and didn't just send it on it's way even though he made a mistake. Then he went on to make our vegan waffle, another 15 minutes later, another gentleman tells us that they "have yet to perfect their recipe and cannot complete the vegan waffle order today" he offered to make us a crepe or our money back. After sitting there for thirty minutes in the distracting/ loud space, hungry, and already done with our coffee, we opted for the refund and chose to leave. Seems like an anomaly of bad experiences, but it was enough for us to say we won't be going back again in the near future. Too bad. read more

Very spacious and comfortable....who ever knew that a cool coffee place would've existed in my hometown of Peekskill? Growing up there, there wasn't a whole lot to do, but if this place was around then, I would've been there every weekend. Pretty good hot chocolate and coffee, the flavored lattes can sometimes be a little tasteless (not enough flavored syrup or maybe I didn't sweeten it enough? I don't know) but there's always a changing menu of yummy desserts. Cool art, clean, good music usually being played, helpful/friendly/cute staff. Also a nice place to check out live music (Fred Gillen Jr. on the last Fridays of the month!) but get there early as it gets packed. read more

Loved visiting this place while I was in Cortlandt for about 5 weeks. Best coffee in the area, hands down. Always a nice assortment of tasty treats, too. Such a nice place, very hipster but just casual and open to anyone in general. It is a very welcoming place, you will see corporate lunch-meetings there, as much as you'll see parents with their kids on the sofas. Crepes are great, coffee is great. One of the worst coffee experiences I've had and I've been to this place twice!! On both occasions I left unsatisfied. The first time I ordered an iced mocha and received pre-made mocha from a pitcher stored in their under the counter fridge. It's one thing to have iced coffee brewed prior because that process requires hours and hours of brew time to yield the best flavor. But pre-made espresso shots? I don't think so. You might as well invest in a pod coffee machine if you want to do that. That is the first time I have seen that at a local coffee house. On my second time, I ordered a regular hot mocha and it tasted like burnt car tire! Like RUBBER. Gross. My logical conclusion to this error is that maybe when the beans were roasted, it was burnt and not dark roast? That or the barista failed miserably at making my drink. It's one thing to support a local business. I'm all for that. It's another thing, however, to be enamored with the appearance of coffee shops (this one was nice, btw) that ultimately fail to specialize in its product. Also, if you're using Starbucks as a barometer for comparison, that says a lot about your coffee tastes. Sorry if that comes out snooty but that's like comparing a salad from Wendy's or McDonalds to a shop that sources their greens locally, fresh and organically. I have had the pleasure of visiting the PCH on several occasions now and I have always been extremely satisfied with the quality of their coffee, service, and the ambiance of that place. The eclectic mix of furniture adds to the charm of the place and is very inviting. My kudos to the baristas there. They provide great service and are very skilled at what they do. My favorite is their cappuccino but it's not all coffee. My son loves the hot chocolate and their banana strawberry smoothies. If you love a good coffee house, you have to give them a try. read more

I use to love coming to this place. I completed my masters and doctoral papers over a cup of tea; however, as they grew and changed the decor, so did their tone and service. Although I enjoyed the professionalism of Randy and his brother, this is not the place to order specialty drinks for the price changes from server to server. If you are a visitor, it's probably not going to bother you for you are not from the neighborhood and do not mine paying for a visit to little old Peekskill; however, as a resident, it was sad that I would order the same drink and the price was greatly different depending upon the server. The lack of continuity in price was disconcerting, but that was not the only thing. I then received a letter when I ordered my last beverage from them (yes I said last) that put a bad taste in my mouth. The author of the letter attempted to reprimand me for ordering drinks and noting the large variation in price for a tea. Since then I have not made PCH my home away from home. Instead, I can go down the road and go Starbucks and specialize my drink and get the same price every time. If you don't like Starbucks, there are at least three other coffee shops in little ole' Peekskill. read more

My favorite place to get coffee and crepes! The coffee is worth the wait, as is the food. The staff is always fun, and gets creative with the coffees. My favorite is to let them surprise me with the flavors in the coffees, and they have yet to disappoint. The atmosphere is very artsy and hipster, with lots of art and mismatched chairs and tables.
