I had not been here since attending a Yelp Elite Event after the restaurant's Grand Opening several years ago. The food was so good that I had to come back to try it again. Arianna was my server during a recent Happy Hour. She recommended that G4 Tequila be used for the Margarita that I ordered, and I subbed Triple Sec for a touch of Cointreau. It was so strong that I quickly got tipsy! The complimentary Salsa tasted as if only the freshest tomatoes were used, and the Chips had good crunch. For the entrée, I had the Grilled Bone-In 16 oz. Pork Chop with Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Asparagus, Onions and Peppers, and Mango Salsa Chipotle Glaze. The onions were the tastiest part of the dish. TIP: BE SURE TO SMOTHER THE ONIONS AND GLAZE ALL OVER THE PORK BEFORE EATING! For dessert, I had the Dulce de Leche Creme Caramel Dessert Special. I did not like it because the peanuts sprinkled on top paired poorly with the Dulce de Leche; so I exchanged it for the Citrus Tres Leches, which was magnificent! The interior design of the restaurant was magnificent as well--with some shelves of Tequila bottles displayed at the entrance. The vibe is "upscale Mexican". How lucky are we to have a beautiful Mexican restaurant in Bay Shore?! This was my first time at Pecado and I was a very happy camper. It's actually very hard to find good Mexican on the East Coast but Pecado has really mastered it, at least the items I had. The real stars were the street corn, ceviche and the coconut tres leches cake. Although the corn was pricey, it was super delicious with just the right amount of heat. The ceviche was perfectly seasoned and balanced with that lovely punch of lime and again, the right amount of heat (for me). The space is lovely with beautiful pendant lighting. It's obvious that Pecado took a lot of care to create a beautiful space to gather and share great food and drinks. Oh, and the drinks are so pretty. The sangria was strong but in the best way. Nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants and bars along the strip. I noticed this restaurant one day and decided to make a reservation. I came here with a group. The restaurant had a big bar area but minimal tables. We had a reservation and arrived on time, but we still had to wait almost 40 minutes to be seated. After the long wait, the service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. The chips and salsa were very good. My entrée, which was quite expensive, was just a shade above average, nothing spectacular. I ordered the La Parrillada, served on a skillet with steak, chicken, chorizo, shrimp, charred baby onions, and jalapeños, served with rice. It was just okay overall. I didn't like the chorizo at all! I couldn't even eat...but everything else was decent. Even though my entrée was just okay, I did like the service, the ambiance, and the drinks. I'll give this place another try and order something different because I saw a few other dishes on the menu that looked worth trying. read more

I am absolutely appalled at the service at this restaurant we sat and had drinks and an appetizer. Then, once we were ready to order meals, they told us we couldn't stay because two of our guests had hats on. Our guests tried to speak with the manager and they said that they had to remove their hats. This is insane as we've already had half our meals and they said that we had to leave. I am absolutely flabbergasted. He is correct in saying they gave us the option and we decided collectively to leave. The option was to remove the hats or leave. If there was an issue with the hats, they should not have sat us to begin with and allowed us to have appetizers and drinks. It was not the hat policy itself it was the way it was introduced. Had it been clearly communicated from the beginning, other than a sign at the hostess station we wouldn't have had an issue. Obviously the sign wasn't prominent enough or a comment wasn't made to let us know before sitting that our attire wasn't appropriate. read more

I am beyond disappointed. I've been to this restaurant over 20 times and never imagined I'd be treated this way. We were just turned away because my husband was wearing a baseball cap--something that is not mentioned anywhere on your website or communicated beforehand as part of any dress code. To make matters worse, they waited until we were already seated outside to say something. By that point, my toddler was excited to eat and ended up sobbing when we had to leave. This should have been addressed when we first checked in--not after we were sitting at the table. There was also no signage anywhere indicating a dress code. We were also seated outside not in the dining room. What made it even more upsetting was how it was handled. The staff were condescending and outright rude, speaking to us in a dismissive tone in front of our child. Completely unprofessional and unnecessary. I even have photos from previous visits inside your restaurant where my husband was wearing a baseball cap--so the inconsistency is baffling. Loyal customers deserve better than this. After years of supporting your business, to be treated like this over something so trivial is unacceptable. You've lost a valued customer, and I will not be returning. read more

We wanted to bar hop around Bay Shore tonight and make one of the stops Pecado. Their website shows 10pm closing time. We arrived at 8:45pm and were told they were closing shortly. We ordered two dishes and two drinks. Shortly after we sat at the bar, we watched them turn down 4 other groups of people looking to sit for dinner. If their closing time is 9pm, they should update their website. We have been to this restaurant before and enjoy their food. The ceviche verde was excellent and their polo en mole was flavorful, but we had to ask for water and tortilla chips (which we have always been given when sitting at the bar or table) and we felt like we did something wrong showing up at 8:45pm. Had an amazing birthday dinner at pecado this weekend. From start to finish the service was impeccable, super friendly and very attentive to all of our needs. This clean inviting space provided the perfect environment for our party of 4 to chat and enjoy. Drinks were tasty and certainly not skimpy on the good stuff - spicy margarita was on point, my request for a tajin rim was taken care of no problem and it really put it over the top. Also had their coquito after dinner and it was phenomenal. Apps we had the guacamole and the mole wings - both outstanding and the wings were such a unique flavor you don't see most places, perfectly crispy nicely sauced and super tasty. For dinner I went with the cocinita pibil and it was spot on. Dessert was tres leches also wonderful. Needless to say we'll definitely be back for more. read more

I have visited every single bar and restaurant on Main Street from Islip to bayshore and what happened to my group here was a first. I have been to this place numerous times and although sometimes slow their food is really good and drinks are small but also good. So we (4 couples) walk in one evening with 2 people dining in the back and a couple having a date night at the bar in the corner. We walk in and I'm wearing a Yankee hat and my wife's bff a Knicks hat, hostess politely said we can't enter bc of the hats, no lie I thought they were kidding so we proceeded to the bar where the bartender, who seemed annoyed at this preposterous rule, reiterated what the hostess said and refused to serve us. Crazy to believe that a bill easily upwards of about $400 was let go bc of 2 hats when the establishment had 4 people total inside lol ruined the experience for us and a pact was made to never return. Besides, Verde is opening up a rooftop next door, can't wait! read more

The rest of the restaurant at that time was completely empty but the happy hour was only at the bar. We ended up going to a happy hour at a nearby restaurant until our reservation was ready. When we finally came back for dinner, we were seated really quickly. This time the restaurant had more people. The tables are pretty small but the decor is nice. We started with the guac and chip. We were surprised how fast it came to the table. It came as soon as the waitress left the table, leading me to think it's not freshly made. However, it did take good. I had the steak quesadilla which was nicely cooked. I wish it came with sour cream and maybe a little pico de gallo. The hubs has shrimp tacos which he seemed to enjoy. Great service and ambiance but the food left much to be desired. Highlight of the night was the queso and churro sandwich. I ordered the churrasco and although cooked well, tasted like char! Previously stopped by for a steak and it was medium well when asked for MR but the manager was more than accommodating in fixing the issue. This time I came back to have a dinner for two at 8:15pm on 4/30 and the service was inattentive and plain rude. Rarely checked after I ordered apps and requested a moment to order dinner as I was deciding on steak. When I was able to finally flag someone over for dinner his exact response was "yeah you missed that bro, kitchens closed", no sorry, no mention of dessert which I required interrogation to find out was still available. No return for a check I had to get up to get it, no care to refill water or ask for a second round. The waiter with glasses that night was nice enough to say thank you sir have a nice night but the other server was plain rude and not hospitable. The food was ok warranting the two stars. We went to Pecado Mexican on a Saturday in August for brunch. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and is quite spacious, with an outdoor terrace in the back where we sat. The fans made it comfortable, but on a hotter day, it might have been too warm. The food was decent but underwhelming. We tried the chorizo hash and the tres leches French toast. While the flavors were okay, they didn't stand out, and the French toast bread was stale. As for drinks, we ordered the Paloma and the Firing Squad, but both were watered down and disappointing. Service was neutral...not particularly attentive or memorable. Overall, I wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend this spot. read more

Delicious Mexican food! My sister and mom took me for my birthday a few weeks back and everything was delicious. Cauliflower tacos were my favorite. Drinks and service were good as well. We were there for an early dinner but after a few minutes, the place was packed. The bar is beautiful as well as the decor. What a find! I did not anticipate for this restaurant to be so amazing. One of the best Mexican meals I have had in the US. Great food. Quality ingredients and an innovative take on the familiar dishes. A lovely selection of cocktails, beer and tequila. Sadly, a Truly limited wine selection, yet I did not mind. Clarified margarita with a black salt rim was a good choice. Note: Guacamole made to order far surpassed the one served at the Mission in AZ - though it could have used pepitas or pomegranate seeds for texture. Fish of the day ceviche verde was beautifully presented and even more delicious. Our main course - a signature dish - LA PARRILLADA - to be shared by 2-3 people. A sizzling skillet with a variety of protein and shrimp - along with all the trimmings. A very good choice, but I think next time - if given the opportunity - we would select several types of tacos. For dessert - churros - and probably my most favorite of all churros I had in the US. It says a lot since my children love churros and we had tried them in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood, as well as many other places in Chicagoland area. We had them in California as well as Arizona, and other states. Long story short - it was a tasty and surprisingly light treat! And I mean, light. I would have never thought to find a gem of Mexican cuisine on Long Island. The only other Mexican place I am so fond of is Libertad in Skokie, IL - again, an unusual location. Note: high noise level - the place was packed before 5 pm, and the music was too loud to have an intimate conversation. The decor is not my cup of tea - modern, but not sleek, but nonetheless, the food is fantastic. Made my trip to Long Island even more special. read more

Pecado is Spanish for "Sin" and you see a lot of Dias de Los Muertos pictures and vibes inside accompanied by dim lights. Their drinks are so good! I usually get their passion fruit or mango Margaritas with the Tajin (spice) rim and it always HITS! For food, I've had the following: Appetizers: -Guacamole: so well made and flavorful! Mains: -Chile Relleno: (Stuffed poblano pepper, mushrooms, cheese, salsa roja tatemada, crema. Served with rice) AMAZING. I keep coming back to this everytime I'm there for dinner. The flavor that comes through from the mushroom, their choice of cheese, and the poblano pepper is so delicious. -Sizzlin' Fajitas: Chicken and Shrimp (Sautéed onions & peppers. Served with rice, black beans, Pico de Gallo, sour cream, flour tortillas & shredded cheese) This is so delicious and flavorful!! Dessert: -Churros- (Dulce de Leche filling, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, side of chocolate ganache and vanilla ice cream) sooooo DELICIOUS!! Everytime it is so fresh and the combination is perfect-The filling tastes delicious and combines well with the churro, ice cream and chocolate ganache. If you like moody, dark restaurants, this place looks perfect. The bar is gorgeous with backlit bottles on the wall, reflected by an antiqued mirror backsplash. Day of the dead artwork is impactful. I love the exposed wooded beam ceiling with varied drop lanterns hanging throughout. The food was actually really tasty. I ordered a chipotle Caesar salad that was grilled, which was large and delicious and definitely could have been shared by 2 people. The restaurant was open to substitutions for particular-eaters and everything came out as ordered. However, our entrees were delivered WHILE we were eating our appetizers and Inmean recently served. We sent them back to the kitchen and asked to have entrees held until we were done eating and had some time. The manager came over and apologized and said they would fire new entrees when we were ready and requested them. About 15 minutes later we gave the waiter the thumbs up to fire our entrees and the waiter announced that he already had them fired and he would bring them right out. We were expecting more time and hot food and we received neither. Our food was tasty, but not hot and just meh. The manager was kind and gave us gift cards for something off our next visit, but nothing off the bill. Not sure I will try again. read more

States looking to use space for private parties, corporate events, baby showers and apparently - coming soon- brunch. He states it will be a delicious combination of sweet and savory. Close to home- priced on the higher end- in-door seating is super romantic with an awesome vibe. The tequila vault is a thing of beauty. Love this place especially their fries and churros! Service depends on who you get though! Inside: lots of seating, inside, balcony, at the bar, outside private patio! Have backdrops and nice interior lighting as well as music and a lively nightlife right on the main street. Food: expensive but also worth compared to other places around the area. Servings are big and filling. Can have some more seasoning on some dishes but dips and all the things that come with it are wonderful. Churros and plantains a must! Service: came with a party of 6 and was seated quickly on a Saturday night. However our server was a little late on a lot of things. She didn't fill any of our waters, did not check up on us so we had to keep flagging her down. Wasn't busy even though it was a Saturday night there were few people seated outside with us. Me and my partner have been coming here for many years, and decided that it was the perfect place to celebrate our engagement with my family. We made a reservation on OpenTable as usual, because it could be a little crowded. Last night was supposed to be a very special celebration for us, and instead turned into a very disheartening experience. Me and my fiancé walked in first and grabbed our table while we waited for my family, ordered 2 drinks and got started with choosing our entree. I see my mother at the door and it looked like she was having trouble getting in. My stepfather, who does not speak a lot English, looked confused and started apologizing to me. I was confused, and the security guard told me he can't come in because he is wearing an Under Armour tank top. My mother then pointed out men at the bar for me and said they are wearing something similar. I understand that you're doing your job as a security, but don't humiliate us without checking your surroundings. If tanks weren't allowed, then the men at the bar should have been told to leave. Were they regulars? His friends? It would have been one thing if he was nice about it but he was so aggressive to my family. I became so aggravated but instead of arguing with the guy, we took our belongings and left because I lost my taste to this place completely. While walking away, the security guard yelled "take a hike" with his friend. That hike costed you a lot of years with us. We've been coming here about once every month or two for the last 3 years. That hike costed you a lot of money we were going to put into this establishment for an engagement party or bridal shower or baby shower. I was so excited to let my family know after our dinner that this was going to be a spot for a celebration, and now we have to look elsewhere all because a security guard thought he was macho enough dehumanize my stepfather in front of a crowd. read more

I try to avoid leaving below average reviews, because I do love to support small businesses but my experience today wasn't great, unfortunately. Sunday brunch with the girls, and this place was specifically requested based on previous experience from one of us who had been before. I ordered an egg white omelette with 2 poached eggs on the side. I wanted a side order of the "roasted potatoes" I saw on the menu but our waiter said the potatoes only come in the hash and it can't be ordered by themselves - hash, I didn't want - so opted for an English muffin. The Order arrives... with a side of potatoes (that I was told I couldn't have) and 2 orders of 2 poached eggs (??). 1 friend ordered steak and eggs. The rest of us 3, received our order and she didn't. We reminded the waiter he came back and said "the kitchen over cooked the steak and had to remake it". I had finished my entire dish and she still hasn't received her order so we asked for a manager, to which the reply was "there is no manager here". A very sweet woman came out, introduced herself as the chef and let us know the waiter actually never put in the steak and eggs and that was the delay. Once we all got our food we agreed if we weren't starving by that point we wouldn't have even been able to eat it with how salty it was. Not once did the waiter come back to refill our water They did take the extra order of eggs and the steak/eggs off the bill. Service was mediocre. Knowledge of the menu was below average. We just moved to the area and wanted to try Pecado for dinner. So we made reservations on Opentable at first but they only had "outside". We are not familiar with the area yet and have not ate here before so we booked that time slot. A friend mentioned maybe we should confirm where outside was since it's December.. I called an hour after their opening time and the person who answered said that their outside isn't even open. But now that we'd need to come in almost an hour later than our reservation. I didn't understand why we were not contacted when they saw our reservation in the system as outside, like what would've happened if we showed up at our normal time with outside reservation? They definitely need to work with Opentable on that. So we were happy we contacted them to confirm our seating. So just keep that in mind if you use that. Other than that... eating here for the first time its a cute restaurant. Not many tables but service was excellent and food was tasty. We started with guacamole (not table side but very good) and chicken tostadas (good but probably won't get again). Then we all got different fajitas which were good and we'd get again, cooked to order as well. Also the spicy margaritas were one of the best we had. I've frequented Pecado several times and I'm finally sharing my thoughts. It's a small spot but they've managed to make more space with seating in the patio. For the several types of drinks that they have I opted for the clarified margarita - impeccably crafted; had to order seconds. We began with the ceviche verde, pleasantly surprised by its mild spice level. My husband doesn't tolerate spice like that and he was able to enjoy it. Personally, I chose the cochinita pibil; while the pork was seasoned wonderfully, the rice was disappointingly lukewarm. My husband enjoyed the fajitas- steak and shrimp. For dessert, the coconut tres leche, albeit a bit dry for my taste, was still enjoyable. Despite these minor concerns, Pecado has always been a reliable spot for great drinks and food, just hoping they're not falling off their game. The waitress was super nice and attentive.
