This company came out years ago to do our driveway and we love it. Now, we added an extension to our driveway and asked them to add the pebble to it. I emailed John, the owner and no answer. So i texted him with the number I had on hand and he replied " I don't do business over text" and when I mentioned to him that I had emailed him he then said his email wasn't working. We continued to text about the project and he asked me to send pictures and measure the area and he gave me a rough quote but he doesn't seem to operate for his customers mentioning a few times that if I was getting other quotes to let him know so he doesn't waist his time or gas. At one point he did come out to measure the area himself and after wrote me a long message about how awful the area was, how it was an "ugly lake", a mess, and how I must have used an old ruler to measure. He the quoted me $3500 more than his original quote over exaggerating the depth of the areas measurement's by 6 inches. I had three adult professionals help me with the measurements. My concrete guys did an amazing clean job and he continued to find anything possible to be rude. He clearly has no people skills is very negative and seems to not care in the least for his customers. His texts were strange and rude and condescending. I would not recommend and his old school work ethic is unreliable and dated. read more

John is one of the rudest people I've met. He showed up to my house for an estimate and sat outside honking multiple times to announce his presence. Who does that? A lunatic! And then once I came outside (two minutes later!) he complains that I didn't have the gate open for him (he showed up early). He gave me the creeps. Worst customer service ever. John Falconer and his crew did a fantastic job covering 30 year old pebble paving on the patio, driveway and sidewalks with a new color and leveling out cracked and sunken concrete areas to provide a smooth, level and uniform surface. From John's first visit and quote in April until the job was scheduled and completed in August, following other yard improvements, John was timely, professional and helpful in selecting the right stone and delivering a quality product, on time and on budget! I've worked with many, many contractors and John was by far the best to deal with. John is an old school businessman, and I really liked that about him. He came to my house and explained the entire process, took measurements and provided me a quote before he left. I needed to move my scheduled appointment date out a week for family event reasons, and he was more than accommodating to our situation. Mike and his crew were very friendly, professional and most important to me... ON TIME!! I'm sure most of you can appreciate my comment on punctuality when it comes to contractors!! They showed up on time, prepped and began work immediately. My backyard is fairly large, so it was two day project. When work was complete, they cleaned up and left my yard the way they found it. Amazing product! Excellent service! Our backyard patio surface was an off-pink concrete that was faded, stained, and cracked....it was really "bringing down" the look of our backyard living space. We finally came across the perfect solution when we met with John Falconer, the owner of Pebble Paving. We were able to pick the shade and size of pebbles and even add decorative flourishes to the design. It was installed right over the existing surface and in less than two days I was walking on my new amazing patio! From beginning to end our experience with pebble paving was one of superior service. The strove to satisfy us in every request we made. The crew that installed the paving was on-time, polite, and careful to clean up when they finished the job. I am writing this now because after all of the rain we've had I'm able to see one of the most incredible results of this new surface: the water no longer pools on our patio - it is absorbed right through the surface and drains away super quick! Best of all: it's easy to maintain and if it ever cracks it can be quickly and easily repaired with the same material that was used originally. It also doesn't stain like the old concrete and is so much more visually interesting. Our backyard makeover was really dramatic and we are proud to have people over to enjoy it with us. read more

Sadly, our experience with John Falconer has been less than pleasant. Let's start with the positive: the pebble his company installed about a dozen years ago looks great and has held up fairly well. Admittedly, we did not maintain it as was recommended, but it still looks pretty good. (We did have it resurfaced once - they powerwashed it, made some minor repairs to worn areas and resealed the patio. Looked nice!) The problem is that the pebble was installed up to and beyond the weep-screed that all homes have around the slab. The weep-screed is there to allow air flow and avoid water damage / mold growth in the wall. Blocking the weep-screed with any material, porous or not, can lead to both water damage and mold growth. Strangely, John tells us that there is absolutely no problem installing the pebble material up to (or beyond) the weep-screed around the slab. A mystery!! There were a couple of other items that I could list (but I won't, because I'm going to keep personality out of this :o) Anyhoo, glad to see that there are (or were) so many happy customers - but before you install this stuff, make it a point to check with ANY contractor worth their salt on the weep-screed issue, and make sure that it's installed to code. We've been doing a lot of construction around our house, and resurfacing our back patio is one of the final things. I've worked with a lot of contractors, from roofing, to painting, to stone fabrication, plumbing, flooring, etc. it was so refreshing working with John. He's quick to respond to emails, text messages, and phone calls. He takes a lot of pride in his work and his brand. He explains everything you could want to know about the product, and brings samples of all the different colors to choose from. He goes over all the details about installation and maintenance, and gives you the price tag on-the-spot. When John was at my house, I read the negative review from Allison S, so I can ask him about her concern. When he learned that he actually had a negative review, I could see that he was genuinely hurt by it. I felt horrible, having been the one to reveal this to him. Sadly, it was only posted a week or so before I had him out to my house. Allison S, alludes to personality differences? Well, I can tell you that John is a man of integrity. He's been doing this for 30 years, and he's proud of the reputation he has with his clients. I was impressed that he didn't have anything negative to say about her, or even a roll of the eyes, when I read it to him. He explained to me what the problem was, and I think it is very clear, there is more to her story. Yelp should have a "BS" button for people to rate reviews. One Star? Really? I noticed she has two reviews. One to help a friend (with 5 stars) and the other to hurt someone (1 star). Sad. Bottom line, the other Yelpers who have such kind things to say about John, ring more true for me. Two years ago, Pebble Paving turned our ugly, multi-colored backyard patio surface into a functional, beautiful surface! So we want to report that two years later this natural pebble surface is holding up very well. Not only are we enjoying the beauty of the surface but it is incredibly easy to maintain. When mud is tracked across it or dirt accumulates, it is so easy to wash it away. In our last home we were constantly sweeping or washing down the patio pavers. Now with the mixed pebbles surface, some of the debris is camouflaged by the porous stone surface and saves cleanup time and water! After doing a major backyard remodel with an existing pool and BBQ/fireplace addition, we were looking to resurface the existing concrete which had small hairline cracks, holes from the previous BBQ island removal, chips and stains from age (only 12 year old concrete) and changes from replacing planters. We looked into various epoxy coatings and vendors, and all were going to have to grind areas in the yard in order to put down the finish. But the worry that this would bubble, chip, peel and fade over time made us feel that this maybe wasn't the best way to go, even after agreeing with a vendor to provide the service. He wasn't very happy with us... Fortunately we saw an add for Pebble Paving, and brought John out to take a look and go through his product. Boy were we happy we did! Such a different product that offered strength and durability for our new yard! They were able to do the work two days later and boy what a difference! The pebbles match the stone work surrounding the BBQ, retaining walls, pool coping and really makes the ribbons we have replaced with new stone "pop"! And it only took one day instead of the week+ that we were told it would take with the composite overlay. No grinding, no dust (after months of living with dust!) and best of all no noise! They were very professional and answered all our questions, and as we saw the pebble finish take shape, what a beautiful new floor for our outdoor living space! We couldn't be happier! And yes, we are happy that we didn't cover the expensive ribbons we had replaced. Now the yard looks "complete" and ready to live in! Thank you Pebble Paving! So happy we we decided to go with your product. It looks just as strong as you said it would, and it's beautiful - a carpet of small pebbles!
