I had Emerald Landscaping redo part of my driveway in pavers and the other part of the driveway, where the cracks were fixed and then painted. They were very professional, giving me a contract, that delineated all the costs involved. Andy is so easy to work with, and his workers were very easy to talk to, and were very pleasant. We took bids from several landscape design companies and made an excellent choice when we chose Andrew and Emerald Landscaping. Andrew was a great help in helping us see how we could make our yard more manageable and useable. His crew were prompt and efficient and very professional. We made a few alterations along the way and Andrew's suggestions were excellent. To say we are grateful for choosing Emerald Landscaping Inc. to renovate our yard is an understatement. We had consulted with a few other companies in town prior but really felt Emerald listened to our ideas and generated the best plan. There is no better landscaping company in the area with which to work in our opinion! Our project included the removal of tons of existing hardscape, including two raised planters, pavers, rocks, clogged drainage pipes, and a few trees. It was hard work but their project manager and helpful crew worked methodically and efficiently to get it done. Since we had completed a thorough design process with Emerald, we had high resolution plans and digital renderings (including a video) that carefully guided all new construction with their team. They added new sand-finished concrete walkways and patios as well as a customized seat wall, fire pit, and flagstone inlay. An existing stucco retaining wall we had got a new lease on life with their beautiful stone veneer masonry work. To top everything off, they installed fresh irrigation and low voltage lighting systems, wall 'green screens' for new creeping figs, and hummingbird-friendly plantings. Andy and Emerald landscape did a beautiful and transformative change to our backyard which was initially dirt and weeds. The result is just beautiful and we are more than pleased. I don't recommend using Emerald Landscaping. Andy and his crew were hired for a job for my backyard to install 3 pergolas and approximately 750 sqf of pavers. Everything went well until the end where they applied a sealer to the pavers. After they used rollers to apply the sealer (spraying the sealer is the way its supposed to be applied per multiple contracters I've spoken to since as well as RCP the stone dealer that the materials were purchased at)the end result was very hazy and patchy so we let him know a few days after the job was done. He said that it would fade away from the sun. This was in the end of December 2022/ January 2023. It then proceeded to rain significantly in San diego for 3 months off and on so we waited for it to be more sunny to see if it faded. It never faded so we reached backout to Andy to fix it, he sent a worker out on 2 occasions to try to fix but it didn't work. He and his wife even came out to take a look and his wife definitely noticed what I was talking about and I expressed to them I just wanted it fixed to be how it was supposed to be. So he tried to apply some chemicals to certain test areas to fix but that didn't work. He refuses to fix the botched sealer job without charging us"spilting the cost with him". He said that if a new sealer was applied that it shouldn't be that noticeable, this was mentioned a couple of times after the botched job was brought up. I do not and will never pay to fix someone else's mistake. After a phone call with Andy he played dumb and said he really didn't notice anything that bad and even went as far as making excuses that the finish may not have been from his work. We spent our hard earned money (over 30k) for this job and it would have been fine if they never applied the sealer incorrectly (Applying sealer wasn't even on the contract and Andy made it seem like he did something free as a benefit to us) now I'm looking for someone to fix the botched sealer job that Emerald did on the pavers and I'm not even sure if it will turn out ok and I possibly may have to replace 750sqf of pavers. Mistakes happen and that's something that happens but how you decide to fix those mistakes shows what kind of person/company you are. Me and my wife initially left a good review right when the work was done and left it up until we realized that the sun wasn't going to fade the work and Andy wouldn't fix it. Again I don't recommend using Emerald Landscaping because the owner Andy wants to charge me the customer to fix HIS mistake. I attached photos which are from from December though June. Are you looking for experienced and spectacular landscaping and stone scaping!? Andrew and his crew are the best in San Diego, they have a good 6 month back log due to the national supply shortage but they are worth the wait. They came out to moms house within 48 hrs and gave a estimate and a few months later they started the job and my mom and myself could not ne happier, Andy explained to me that he has a close relationship with local materials companies such as RCP Block and he makes sure his customers get taken care of first and have the best quality when he is finished. My mom had a landslide in last years rain and lost part of her back yard, Emerald did a lengthy evaluation and had to put in terraces and pylons to make her home safe and beautiful again. Emerald always answers communications, always keeps appointments, and always does exceptional work. Andy came to look at my back hill, made some measurements and took pictures. His team created a digital image of what it could look like. His team was excellent and moved a LOT of boulders and rocks onto the hill to create a long dry riverbed, waterfall, several boulder retaining walls and a set of steps up the side of the hill. Our backyard was in rough shape. There was crabgrass, mounds of dirt, rock, old 1980s patio block.... it was depressing. I met with Andy and got an estimate. He was a recommendation from my boss at work. After seeing the price, it was definitely fair compared to others. The fact that he took the time to come out and give me an estimate and come back again to refine that estimate after some changes speaks volumes. Too many companies wanted to just do things over the phone. The work that Andy and his crew was great. I have to say that I hawk eyed the project and it was the exciting part of my day to come home to the new changes. Andy was very receptive to answering questions and explaining things. His quote was concise, well written, and listed line by line, so there were no surprises and everything was upfront. He did a complete remodel of our backyard. Installed a retaining wall, removed old concrete, poured new concrete. His team is very professional and very easy to work with. He's a small business owner and takes pride in a quality job. Any problems I had (you will on any job), were discussed and rectified on the spot. I highly recommend him. I strongly disagree with the other reviewer. In fact, I almost wonder if they have them mixed up with another company because it just doesn't sound like them at all. Ken leaned over backward to make sure things went right all through our project. His customer service skills were awesome and I like how professional they were at every step of the way. I had a designer draw up the plans for my back yard and I had three companies give me estimates on the work. Compared to the other two companies that bid on my project, Emerald's estimate was so much more clear and professional. It had a lot of detail, which I liked. During the project, there were a few changes, mostly things we asked for. Ken got us revised numbers ahead of time so that we could decide what to do. It made me feel like they had things under control and weren't trying to trick us or get more money out of us. Emerald Landscape did a great job on my backyard in Pacific Beach. They tore out a fence and a dead lawn. They installed synthetic turf, pavers, and made a little garden for me. They've built 2 walls, repaired lifted pavers around our pool, cleared canyon space. poured a concrete walkway down the side of our house, and bricked out flower beds in the front of our house. These guys redefine what "the worst" is! If you're thinking about having landscaping done, don't even waste your time to visit the website. They are totally incompetent, having failed to properly install a small, residential irrigation system after three attempts (I had to get my maintenance gardener to correct the problems!). They have zero design sense, planting in the wrong places and installing lighting fixtures in just the right places (next to the drive and street) to be run over by traffic!
