The Solvang Hot Chicken was well worth the wait! The day before, we tried to get it for dinner, but they were only an hour from closing and the waitlist was already full. After learning our lesson, we stopped by the next day at 11:45 AM for lunch. They put us on the waitlist, and we were seated by noon, which I thought was excellent timing! The staff was attentive and even offered to split our shared sandwich in the back, which was such a nice touch. As for the spice level, I have a pretty high spice tolerance, so I can't speak too much to how spicy it would be for someone with a lower tolerance. For me, though, it was perfect! One thing I wanted to mention is that this is more of a dry-rub-style hot chicken rather than a sauce-heavy version. Despite the dry rub, the chicken itself was incredibly juicy and flavorful. Definitely worth adding to your Solvang food stops! read more

Truly dog friendly! Enjoyed lunch on the patio with hubs and pup. Staff very attentive to food allergies/aversions - made sure my order was gluten-free. Shared the Brussels salad - would have it again BUT ask for "light cheese". Never thought I'd say this but way too much cheese . Hubs enjoyed the pastrami smoked salmon sandwich. read more

We walked by this place and so glad we ate there! Amazing service and the food was so good!!!! We got the French dip, the fish sandwich and the hot chicken sandwich. The crispy potato's are delicious and the sauce they come up is a great compliment. They have inside and outdoor seating. I didn't take any pictures cause we just dug in. read more

This really hit the spot after the long drive from LA and walking around the town. The staff were super upbeat and kind. I sat in doors which was super cozy, filled with cookbooks and plants. There are also massive windows ~ I felt like a fairy in a greenhouse haha I got the Solvang Hot Chicken Sandwich with a soup salad. The chicken was spiced deliciously! The soup was a pumpkin one so it was very autumn. I'd recommend checking out this spot when you're in Solvang. Heads up that there was a long wait so keep that in mind when planning your Solvamg trip. read more

Very disappointed with our experience. We visited yesterday for lunch while hosting a friend from out of town and were really looking forward to eating here. We ordered the spicy chicken and knew it would be hot, but it was extremely spicy to the point of being almost unbearable. The restaurant should provide a clearer warning about just how hot it is. More seriously, two of us became very sick afterward. One person ended up in the ER and another had to go to urgent care, and we spent the night dealing with this. Given the high prices, we expected much better quality and certainly not an experience that left us sick. Very disappointing and not an experience we would want to repeat. read more

We came in for brunch on a busy Saturday but luckily our wait wasn't too long. We got lucky with timing - about 15 mins later there was a long waitlist and people standing around waiting for a table. We ordered the Ceasar salad with grilled chicken, fried chicken sandwich and the short rib grilled cheese. The Ceasar salad was delicious! Lettuce was crisped and I loved how crunchy the croutons were. There was also a lot of freshly grated parm on top, yum! The fried chicken sandwich was also yummy. Chicken was crispy and flavorful. My favorite was the short rib grilled cheese. I loved that there was a cheese crust on the outside. I just wished they had more short rib in between the slices. If I were back in Solvang, I wouldn't mind eating here again! read more

peasants FEAST is an airy adorable restaurant in downtown Solvang. They have a decent food as drink items. And offered both indoor and outdoor dining. Loved their comfortable chairs. Service was good. Food was average. This spot was pinned on my itinerary so here I am. I came to grab a late lunch. I was ebulliently greeted by a mature female staff. I had a salmon sandwich x salad; fresh lemonade. I liked it. Service was spot on. Menu items were a bit pricey..But hey you're in Solvang the Denmark capital of CA. :D Atmosphere was quite relaxing. Decor and layout were good with ample of natural light. Plenty of parking. Overall, I had a pleasant lunch meal. And enjoyed their service. I recommend peasants FEAST. read more

Dropped by Solvang and decided to try this Michelin restaurant. The hot chicken was delicious. My schnitzel salad was good, but I felt the schnitzel was just okay. However, the salad itself was great! macaroni and cheese was okay. Overall, great service, cute place. What I really wanted to try was the kobe dip...maybe next time. read more

Back again on Sunday afternoon and the service was just as great as the first time! The host was super friendly and our server was prompt and attentive. We decided to try the tacos this time and they were outstanding -- I'm literally craving them again today. The spicy habanero sauce was delicious and had the perfect kick -- right up my alley! We sat on the side of the restaurant this time, and it was nice and quiet. Such a great vibe overall. We'll definitely keep bringing our family and friends here -- love introducing people to great food! read more

I was looking for something Danish but when I didn't come across anything convincing, I decided to try any good looking restaurant. The food at peasants FEAST was amazingly fresh and delicious. The hot chicken sandwich seemed popular so I went for it and was impressed, but about half way through when I reached the fresh parsley and dill in the dressing, that's when they got the fifth star! We also loved the burger and the smoked bacon on the appetizers. The interior is charming and peaceful on a weekday afternoon. I can imagine them getting very busy on the weekends. What they can improve on is a little more friendly and personalized service, which would elevate the overall experience. read more

Was excited to try this place after seeing it on the Michelin Guide. To start off, if you want to eat here I highly recommend getting there early and putting your name down on the list. We waited 45 minutes for our table midday on a Saturday. The hostess and servers were generally kind though so no complaints and I understand this place is popular. I got the Lengua tacos and my sister for the pastrami smoked salmon sandwich. I thought the tacos were okay but needed more flavor and more salt. I thought the beans on the side were too salty for my liking. The flavor wasn't anything particularly unique. I took a bite of my sister's sandwich and it was delicious but didn't taste like anything that couldn't be made at home. I did appreciate the nice presentation of the food and the ingredients tasted fresh. I'm glad I tried it, but everything was just okay. I probably will not be to be returning especially with the long wait. read more

On a lovely day in Solvang (not too hot or cold), we had to wait about half an hour for a table. First available turned out to be on the outdoor patio, which was fine with us. The patio area / tables are utilitarian and not fancy in any way. I was surprised to later go inside to use the restroom and find a very interesting dining room. It provided 1970's vibes with lots of live plants and wicker accessories. The food was solid five stars for this type of establishment. Both Dear Hubby and I had the Pastrami Smoked Salmon Sandwich. It was excellent. The seasoning of the salmon with the "pastrami" effect of peppery goodness brought amazing flavor to the sandwich. I have to avoid dairy, so I asked for the whipped cream cheese on the side. I'll admit to tempting fate by sampling it. So good! Wish that I could have fully dived into it as an aspect of the sandwich. DH had their house tomato soup as his side. I went with the potatoes. Both DH and Adored Granddaughter were stealing the nuggets of potatoes from my plate. That was fine as the quantity was generous. We ordered kids mac & cheese for her. The regular pasta option for kids is mac with a buttery sauce. She prefers cheese, so that's what they made for her. Unfortunately, (and this cost them a star) they don't offer cheese sauce as one of the kids meals options, and most children prefer cheese to butter. They charged the extra $3, but didn't bring her a side, which should have been included, especially for the price. The portion was extremely generous, and she barely made a dent in it. I personally would rather see them make the adjustment to the cheese sauce for kids and a smaller portion. Service was stellar. Our server was friendly, gracious, and very efficient. She checked back on us a number of times and made us feel welcome. Their menu is limited in each category. I picked them as I was looking for a great deli sandwich. Peasants Feast isn't really that kind of place, so I got fooled on that. What we had was excellent, so I am happy about how that turned out for our main meal of the day. read more

Burger good, salmon sandwich def a fave, potatoes great, but the standout was the lemon meringue slice!! I'll come back just for that!!

First of all.. did they put crack in this butternut squash?!! Each spoon was soooo addicting! I need to learn how to make this and eat it every morning because it will also help with pregnancy bloat. The little gems salad was amazing.. added some carnitas as protein and not sure if that was a necessary add bc the veggies were so good on their own. Maybe chicken would have went better with the salad but the carnitas were super crispy which I loved. The chicken burger (or sandwich?) was a savory herby ball of goodness but maybe a little bit breadier than I like. Overall, a super cute place with great food! read more

Amazing!! Pastrami smoked salmon sandwich is divine! Kobe beef dip is fantastic! Cheesy polenta is a good side. By some stroke of luck, we arrived with a 0 minute wait at 12 on Valentine's Day (indoor seating was full but we didn't mind sitting outside). There's a cute sticker machine at the wait area, for a dollar you can get a random sticker in either the peasants farm/feast brand, or what I think are local brands and artists? We chose the local brands and the slight disappointment when a sole Enegren sticker was revealed, washed over us (none of us drink). But I enjoy it being there. Despite the chill there's plenty of heaters around that make the meal plenty enjoyable. The food is around $20-30 per person if you're being stingy like us and not ordering extras like drinks or starters. And the menu rotates daily I think, everything that was recommended to me by friends wasn't on the menu. But I felt pretty full with just half the fig grilled cheese for a meal and snaking on the rest later in the day. It was the perfect blend of savory sweet, like a cheesy geode with a rock exterior of Parmesan crispy bits flaking off and rich bread but inside was gooey soft cheese that was elevated with a satisfyingly sweet fig jam. The dipping sauce the potatoes were given is kind of boring, it looked colorful but felt like just a spicy mayo. The soup was a zappy blend of carrot, ginger, and turmeric? It felt like one of those health shots subdued down smooth with cream. Our server offered bread with it and we did assume it would be $5+ but it isn't listed in the menu to my knowledge. The hot chicken was really good though, there's a multifaceted layer where you can taste the sweetness of the bread, the kick of the pickles, the crunch of the breading, and finally the succulent chicken. It's quite good! Patio is dog friendly, we were seated next to a very polite, and very excited dog. So far my favorite place to eat in Solvang! read more

We decided to try peasants FEAST because it was one of the places open a little later in that area and I am so happy we did. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We were given the option of sitting inside or outside. The menu is small, but there are great options! We started with the mac and cheese. It was seasoned well, and so creamy. My daughter doesn't normally eat mac and cheese, she decided to try it and ended up eating most of it! My husband had the Solvang Hit Chicken sandwich and he shared that it was just the right amount of heat and the potatoes were a nice touch. I had the Brussels salad with the fried chicken thigh. This was one of the best salads I've ever had and that chicken thigh...it was so good I had TWO. It was juicy and full of flavor. My daughter had the chicken thigh with fries and a side of sliced tomatoes. She ate all of her chicken, this is the kid who rarely ever finishes her protein. She also enjoyed the fries and said the tomatoes were so fresh! We hope to come back soon! read more

Line was long before it was even opened but we were so glad we stuck around to try this place! We ordered their smoked salmon pastrami sandwich with salad and their burger with potatoes and they both tasted really good!! Be warned that the waitlist can be long, and they do not take reservations. The restaurant is small, and only has a few tables. The wait time when we went ranged from 1 h 15 min to 2 h. We put our name in early and walked around town in the meantime. The fare is generally comfort food with some unique twists. The grilled cheese was delicious, although a bit one-dimensional. The best part was the lacy parmesan crust around the sandwich. We failed to taste the fig flavor, sadly. The butternut squash soup was amazing. It was complex in flavor, and it ended up also serving as a dipping sauce for the grilled cheese sandwich. The hot chicken sandwich was delicious. read more

The food was so delicious, every bite was full of flavor. We had the Brussels sprouts salad which was interesting, but so yummy. The Mac and cheese was creamy, the spicy chicken sandwich was perfection and the Tacos de Carnitas were a must try- handmade tortillas gave them a great touch and just the flavor was locked in/ As for the location, it's cute and aesthetically pleasing just my kind of place. I'll end it with the service, everyone there was kind and attentive which does go a long way. I'm definitely coming back and can't wait. read more

I had heard their hot chicken sandwich was amazing. And when I saw the line to get a table before it even opened- I could see just how popular the place was. My chicken sandwich was okay, not really worth the hype and it was not spicey at all. Also, it was served a little lukewarm. My friends burger was just okay- tasted like a good diner burger. Their house pickled vegetables were good! And the fried potatoes were pretty good. The bacon dish is just one strip of bacon for $16. I was shocked when it was served. Haha. They don't take reservations and I hear the wait can be 2 hours so be prepared when you go! read more

I had their pastrami has a lettuce wrap because I'm gluten-free! The pastrami had the most perfect flavor and wasn't too salty! I did add mustard and the most amazing crunchy pickles. The smoked salmon burger was disappointing and lacked much flavor. The French dip sandwich was very tender, but it also needed more seasoning, and the bread crust was a little too hard. The crispy potatoes were just okay. On the positive side, the service was very friendly and attentive. Overall, I was expecting more from a restaurant with a 4+ star rating. read more

spent a day in Solvang on Saturday and had the best lunch at Peasants Feast!! we waited about 30 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all. We sat in the sun and enjoyed the nearby scenery while waited. The service was amazing, staff was great and the food was even better! Highly recommend the Mac & cheese, add carnitas! (Shoutout to Maggie for that recommendation) the shaved Brussels salad was tasty as well, added smoked salmon to that. We also tried the spicy chicken sandwich and that grilled cheese (added bacon)!! definitely a must-try if you're in the area. read more

Peasants Feast was nothing special. The fact that you have to wait in line to check your party in and then wait in another line for your party to be called is crazy. Maybe they should incorporate reservations?? The ambiance is different. Most of their seating is outside. The food is nothing special. Solid lunch spot if you want some artisanal style sandwiches, salads, or tacos. Peasants need stick to your ribs style food, to keep up your energy as you walk around Solvang from bakery to bakery, and Peasants Feast has you covered. Corn Chowder - this was good but I wished we got a smaller bowl of it. Pretty filling and starchy, less is more even though we shared it. And it was kind of one note. After a few spoonfuls I was like, yeah I get it. Next. 3.5 stars Mac n Cheese - orrechiette pasta was nice and al dente. Always a good choice to keep a good texture in Mac n cheese. The three cheese sauce was a bit on the bland side, but creamy. Bread crumbs did their thing and added some crunch. I would recommend adding bacon to add a little something else to it. 3.5 stars French Dip - can't go wrong here. Tried and true combo of roast beef, Gruyère, caramelized onions, horseradish cream (which wasn't overpowering) on an excellent beautiful seeded roll dipped in au jus that wasn't too salty. 5 stars Short Rib Grilled Cheese - what makes this special is the grilled Parmesan crisp to the outside of the bread. The short rib and caramelized onions mixture along with the pickled mustard seeds provided a nice filling against the multiple cheeses melted. Again great bread. 4 stars. (Not sure this is still on the menu, but other grilled cheeses are, or perhaps they rotate) Sides...Crispy Potatoes with a chili aioli were damn good. Cheesy Polenta - just ok, or maybe not necessary after having the Mac n cheese and corn chowder and at the point my judgement was clouded. Wasn't blown away by everything, but would be happy to come back and try other things here. I see sometimes they do dinner maybe? But it doesn't seem to be a regular thing. Or maybe they switch menus out for early dinner? I'm confused, people seem to be getting dinner here even though they close at 6pm. I'm sure other reviews will point you in the right direction for that. read more

Ordered: - Pastrami smoked salmon sandwich with a side of corn soup (4/5): Everything about this was amazing. The smoked salmon was perfectly seasoned and paired well with all the additions in the sandwich including the sauce. The only complaint I might have is that the brioche buns of the sandwich were a little too airy and dry and there wasn't a lot of sauce in the sandwich. The corn soup that came as a side option was delicious. It wasn't too creamy and was well balanced but still had the strong corn flavor shine through. - Solvang hot chicken sandwich with a side of crispy potatoes (5/5): Delicious sandwich and the aioli that came with the potatoes actually paired well with this sandwich too! Same complaint about the bun but it wasn't as big of an issue because this sandwich was a bit saucier. We ordered this at a mild spice and found that that was the perfect level of heat for us. The chicken was juicy and plentiful making this a great lunch option and the potatoes were quite filling. If there was anything to improve it'd be that I wish the sandwich was a bit bigger. Overall (4/5): A very solid introduction to Solvang - good service, cute vibes, and no wait for a weekday lunch. However, the establishment is quite a small so we can see how there could be a long wait during busier times. Good food and we hope to be back to try other items. read more

Review of Peasants Feast - Solvang Peasants Feast might just be the freshest place in Solvang--literally and figuratively. Step inside and you're greeted by a space that feels like a greenhouse reborn into a restaurant: airy, rustic, yet contemporary, with lattice above and plenty of natural flow. On a hot day, the breeze alone feels like a welcome course. The décor walks a fine line between homey and stylish--leather chairs, morning-bright tables, cookbooks lining the walls like proud art pieces, all hinting at a chef who not only cooks but studies, values, and celebrates food at its source. Outside, shaded patios keep the pace easy, while inside, the energy is already humming. A Thursday at noon and the place was full--locals, families, business folks, and curious visitors all drawn in. The food speaks for itself. A bowl of corn soup arrived with a swirl of oil and chili flakes, each spoonful layered, balanced, and glowing with flavor. The creamy polenta was perfection--not runny, not stiff--just stopped at the exact moment where texture becomes silk. The veggie sandwich was a joy to eat, held together without collapsing, the avocado perfectly ripe, the microgreens bright and alive, and the egg (with its glowing orange yolk) clearly from a happy, local hen. One detail that says it all: no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. Why? Because the chef seasons with care, hitting the sweet spot every time. The bread was soft, the flavors meshed beautifully, and every bite reminded me this is farm-to-table done right--clean, thoughtful, and precise without feeling fussy. Even the drinks felt harmonious. Green Star Coffee was the perfect match: organic, smooth, balanced between light and dark, the kind of coffee you sip and realize it's just right. And the water, served in small mason jars, tied perfectly into the restaurant's down-to-earth elegance. Service was equally dialed in. Our server, Jovanna, was warm, attentive without hovering, and quick to share a laugh. The whole team seemed in rhythm--moving neither rushed nor slow, but with a kind of natural cadence that matched the open air. The kitchen stayed quiet behind the scenes, the music kept things upbeat but never loud, and the vibe was one of flow and ease. Peasants Feast isn't just another restaurant in Solvang. It feels like a statement: food should be honest, fresh, and make you feel good when you eat it. And here, that philosophy comes through in every plate, every sip, every detail. I left not just satisfied but already thinking about my next visit. Solvang has many charming spots, but Peasants Feast stands out as something more--it's a place with soul. read more
