I was totally impressed with the amount of time and care that Dr Jeffrey Calhoun took with my friend. He has the patience of a saint. I was unaware of some of the visual tests he had performed were even available for her. He was polite, honest and soft spoken. He spoke to her, not at her. When she had to speak to the optician, Greg was stellar in his line of work with prisms as well as his mannerisms. Talk about knowing his stuff!!!! From the moment we walked in the door and greeted I had noticed a friendly and clean atmosphere. The wait time was minimal and the time spent on my friend was unmatched by any business I've ever visited. I wish I had known about him years ago. I'm adding my own extra star.

Mom has macular degeneration. Dr. Calhoun had nothing to offer. But what really prompted me to write this review is his total lack of class and empathy for the patient. The poor guy really didn't have much personality and wasn't really a nice guy. But, whatever if he can help. Yes, mom has trouble with her vision and that's why we were in his office. I asked if he felt her vision was going to get worse. Right in front of mom he shrugs his shoulders and says "She can't see anything anyway." Real class "doctor" to say something so crude in front of a lady in her 90s. I hate to contradict his statement, but I took her to a real low vision specialist. This gentleman told me that her retina still has good spots and that the brain looks for them. Well, Dr. Calhoun must have missed that class. So, if your mom needs a low visin specialist, take this guy off your list. He's rude and another doctor proved he really isn't all that good. If you have to go here, see Dr Schwach. I had to see him for a problem I was having & he got me in the same day. He explained everything, was a great guy and very good at helping out and putting me at ease. I would seriously recommend you stay away from Dr. Calhoun. He didn't seem to be that knowledgable and absolutely has no class. He should know better. Also, the office/front desk ladies aren't the most pleasant!!

Shameful and pathetic. Please resist the temptation to give this place your business. Corporatization has turned it into a den of thieves. I felt bad for the staff. Dr Paul Lee performed emergency surgery on me for retina detachment. Faced with sudden loss of…read morevision was certainly disconcerting and Dr Lee diagnosed my detachment and presented options and risks in a most thorough and professional manner. I opted for immediate injection of a gas bubble in the affected eye. This was followed by 3 sessions of laser surgery needed to weld the retina back in place. It as not comfortable to remain still in an upright position for a month as instructed by the good doctor, but I am sure glad I did! After 6 weeks and 3 surgeries my vision is returning to normal. I have been a patient of Dr. Michael Murphy for several years now. I have the utmost respect for…read morehis abilities and knowledge in the optometry field. He always seems to be on top of the most recent studies and eye care solutions. I have always had a good experience at Clarence Eye Care. The staff is always very professional and courteous, never had a very long wait, even at times they were extremely busy. There are two instances that make them stand above other optometrists that I have dealt with in my past and why I will continue to stay with them. One was that they took me on a day they were closed in order to look at my injured eye. They were able to determine the eye was lacerated and provided me the right treatment. However the second instance arose when they referred me to another doctor outside of their doors for a second opinion on the injured eye. They showed me that they were more concerned about the health of my eye than retaining me as a patient as I could have easily stayed with the other practice that they referred me to. Of course I returned. All I can say is that I highly recommend Dr. Murphy. He is now our family optometrist and a few other of my friends and neighbors that I have sent his way. I have not seen any other doctors at the practice, but I can assume they are all very capable of taking care of you and your sight.
