after my exam, I was told about 2 weeks for my glasses to come in, my appointment had been on a Wednesday so on the 12th day I called and was told they would probably be in for Wednesday and they would call me. I called them on Thursday, was put on hold and then after 10 minutes was disconnected. Called again on Friday and was told maybe next week. Over the next week I called 3 more times before finally going in on the 1 month mark that they had until Friday at 1 pm or I was cancelling the order. Surprise they were there. On placing my order Service rating 0. When placing my order I mentioned that I was having to clean my glasses 10 -15 times daily and was told there was a coating put on my old glasses for glare that causes that, I said I will deal with the glare, my new glasses I have to clean the same amount so I guess that was not thr reason. I've been coming to sterling optical for 9 years and I've never had a bad experience. I did have a long wait once as the optometrist was traveling from one location to another. Also, I don't love the new location; it just feels kind of empty inside. However, they still carry their contacts, glasses, and designer frames and contacts. I get contacts with UV protection which I love. I would suggest making the new location a little warmer/cozier and maybe have some light music playing. Bathroom isn't so great either. read more

I have been going to this location for years. Always friendly and helpful staff, and the opticians are super professional. I would recommend them to anyone who wears glasses or contacts, or thinks they might need them! I also appreciate that they are knowledgeable about insurance companies, so when I have insurance that covers one thing and a Groupon that covers something else, they always know how to get the most bang for my buck. When I lived closer to this location, I went yearly. I went here probably 5-6 years in a row, never saw the same eye doctor in that time. Some were better than others. They were very reluctant to give me prescription. I know they are battling online sales, but they always provided me the bare minimum and I had to pry to get the rest of the necessary information from them. They were quick, took walk-ins and always had appointments available quickly. read more

I don't know how other people had bad experiences here. I've been coming here for a few years now and everyone was extremely professional and polite when I came here for my contacts. When I came in, my contact prescription was expired so I couldn't just reorder contacts, which was kind of annoying, but they went out of their way to apologize for the inconvenience and got me in for an appointment the same day. In retrospect this makes sense: I wouldn't go to the pharmacy with an expired prescription and expect to have it filled, so I guess the same concept applies here. I'm giving this a 4 star review because the contacts were kind of expensive...but I got a year supply and they shipped my contacts to my house for free. read more

I have never been to this location nor will I be going back after i pickup up my glasses. These people are so unprofessional that I felt like I didn't even belong there. When I was taken into the exam room the actual doctor looked disheveled and off, he didn't even tell me his name! I tried to make small talk with him but he was short in response the entire 5 min of the exam. I proceed to go out into the area to choose a pair for myself and the one sales person in a very nice tone said he would be right with me. Well after he was done with whomever he was helping, he then looked at my file and realized that because I have medicaid that he was not going to get any commission off of my glasses so he didn't even lift a finger to help me. My mom being an optometrist, I FaceTimed with her with my phone so should could help me instead. I WAS DOING THIS RIGHT IN FRONT OF BOTH THE SALES ASSOCIATES!!!! all they were doing was watching YouTube videos together and laughing while I had to choose my own pair of glasses. I did finally pick out a pair, a very cute pair of I might add with no help but from my mother. I proceeded to the counter and said I would like this pair please. As I did that the one sales person that said he was going to help me scurried away to a back room. The other one put a PD measurement on my face and then said we will call you in 3 days when it's ready. As I was walking away the only thing I saw was the one sales person that was supposed to help me, jamming on his e-cig so hard it was as if that back room was in a smoke screen. I told him "thanks for the help" in a very condescending way and left the store to go home. People, get you're glasses at a real place, not in a mall and a store the size of a hole in the wall bar. I was a customer of the Eastern Hills Mall location for several years. I use them mainly for contact lenses. During my last visit, AFTER I met with the optometrist and was billed (of course), I was informed they had switched contact lens brands but not to worry--this new brand was "pretty much the same." Unfortunately, the only thing that was "the same" was the price I paid. The contact lenses they now use are of inferior quality and a pair that was supposed to last a month would often tear while I cleaned them after less than a week of wearing. I exchanged them for another pair and these also tore a few days later. After that, I attempted to obtain a refund, different brand, or at least a new box, but was told I was past the refund window and the brand they gave me was the only brand the store carries. A new box would be CHARGED as a separate purchase. I cannot speak to the glasses they carry as I do not use glasses, but their counter service and contact lens quality get one-star from me. The only positive is that the optometrist at this location has always been very polite and friendly. However, I will still take my contact lens purchases elsewhere. read more

Got glasses from here in Jan of 2019 got them pretty quickly but about after a 2 or maybe 3 months after having my glasses the arm on the glasses started to bend and become loose went in to have them repaired had to go in A couple times after about the third time I went in to have them repaired for the same issue the person that works there told me that they will probably eventually break didn't even seem to act like it wasn't normal just seemed like it was a normal thing I did ask her what will happen if they do break and she told me they will replace them guess they keep the really crappy quality frames for people who are using insurance to pay for them because that's what they are crap they finally did break in Dec of 2020 shouldn't happen after only a year (and yes I do take care of them and keep them in the case when I'm not wearing them) they broke on a Sunday so I had to go to LensCrafters (another place I will never get glasses from again) to get them repaired because Sterling optical is closed Sundays LensCrafters said they were broken but could temporarily repair them and not to fold the the arms in or it will come off again so on Monday I called sterling they said I had them to long and they will not replace them which when I went in to have them repair for like the 3rd time the woman that work there told me they would replace them if they did break guess she was lying I will not return will go elsewhere for my glasses now 2 places that I will never get glasses from againk LensCrafters and Sterling optical read more

I've been going here for several years now and all my kids do also. We have always gotten great customer service and excellent eye care and eye exams. I was just there this evening for my yearly eye exam. I need the medical eye exam due to diabetes. I filled out the forms and I was taken back right away. I had a thorough eye exam done and it was thorough and professional. He knows what he's doing. I have seen him every time I have had an exam. He remembers me too. Everyone was polite, courteous, respectful and professional. I even got a pair of contacts to get me through until mine came in. No one looked disheveled and no one was rude. I order lenses online also and I have never had problems with them giving my prescription out to the retailer online. I'll be back next year. read more

I recently went to Sterling Optical in the Eastern Hills mall for an eye exam and to purchase new glasses. I had been there previously in 2010 and then made the mistake of trying out another place years after. Honestly that awful experience showed me the difference between great customer service and the alternative! I saw Dr. Wilkes for my exam and he was the BEST! He took the time to explain things to me, to warn me about my eye pressure and to finally get me a prescription that actually works! He was right on and I can see so much better! Note that my prescription was changed quite a bit but I did not get the dreadful sick feeling from it, an additional plus! Taryn helped me to find the perfect pair of glasses, literally for over an hour and she never rushed me or seemed annoyed! She also was very helpful with pulling glasses that were exactly what I was looking for! I ended up with 2 pairs of super name brand glasses, with really good coatings for under 450$ which is amazing! Yes some of the glasses can be a little pricey but honestly you get what you pay for, and my previous glasses from another store that were 100-150$ are JUNK! Id like to mention that this store allowed me to roll over my glasses insurance that I had purchased for my old glasses in 2010, onto my new glasses, for no additional charge! That totally impressed me besides the fantastic customer service that I received! Every employee that I encountered at this store was very helpful and genuinely kind! Plus both pairs of my glasses came within 3 days of me ordering them, and I LOVE them! Konstantine changed a poor experience another location into an excellent experience. First location - Employee was texting and didn't greet me. Was unprofessionally dresses with stretch pants. Which I saw from other customer comments is the norm. Acted as if they were doing me a favor to assist. Asked to see my insurance first. I picked out frames but was told I had to come back tomorrow to verify insurance. Eastern Hills Mall location - I got in my car and called another location. Konstantine answered the phone. He was so professional I drove across town. He had the frames I wanted displayed in all colors. He was knowledgable and courteous. I wound up buying multiple pairs from him the same day. If I could rate less than 1 star I would! My husband got glasses last Friday. He told technician that the prescription was not correct. They told my husband to try them for a week to get used to them. We left the store, my husband started driving and was seeing double red and green lights. We immediately went back and the store insisted he keep trying to get used to them. Why can't people just do their job right the first time??? They scheduled an appointment for today with new eye exam. Sure enough, the prescription was indeed wrong! Now he has to wait another week with the wrong script in his glasses. We have both been patients here for many years, and this is not the first time we have had issues, but it will be the last-never going back after he gets his glasses because oh yeah, they will NOT give you your money back! read more

I have been a customer/patient at this location for the last 25 years-since I was 8 years old. I always received excellent service, and had no cause for complaint. I came in recently for an eye exam, and purchased a pair of glasses (my vision coverage allows me a new pair every year). When I came to pick up my glasses, I asked for my prescription information, so that I could get a cheap pair of glasses for when I'm playing sports and worry about breaking my regular pair. The girl gave me part of my prescription, but refused to give me my PD measurement, even though she had it right in front of her. This is hardly privileged information, but rather a measurement of my anatomy hardly different from my doctor recording height and weight. The Federal Eyeglass Rule defines 'prescription' as "the written specifications for lenses for eyeglasses which are derived from an eye examination, including all of the information specified by state law, if any, necessary to obtain lenses for eyeglasses." Since lenses cannot be made properly without the PD measurement, it is necessary information to obtain lenses. The employee who I spoke with told me that she could not give it to me because "I might type it wrong while buying glasses online and they'd be liable". This is not only insulting, but misguided. Any selections I type when making an online order would logically be part of the order record, and comparable against the written prescription information. She told me I could speak with her manager (more than once), but when I said I'd like to, she said "Oh, she's not here." It strikes me that the store is so worried about losing business to online sellers, that they'll deny reasonable customer requests. I had no intention of leaving them as a customer; I still need eye exams, and my insurance is excellent. But her attitude, and complete unwillingness to help have ensured that when I get my next regular pair of glasses (purchased in person!) it will not be with Sterling. Because today, I was made to feel that loyal 25 year customers are not valued there. read more
