We stopped her on a rainy Sunday afternoon to check it out. The place was empty, and only a few places were even open. It's wonderful that Penney's is able to survive here. The Niagara Emporium was an interesting store. The Christmas store wAs all lit up, as a Christmas store should be. Duff's was open and so was a new brewery. With all the shopping that goes on these days via the Internet, shopping malls are a dying breed. When you can shop on Amazon, for example, the convenience, selection and great prices, retailers just cannot compete. More so in the age of Corona. Well today was a very pleasant experience at the Eastern Hills Mall. I started by taking my unneeded electronics there at 11 AM. This mall was hosting the free electronics waste recycling drop off event in their parking lot. It was so well organized. A company by the name of sunnking was there to take old electronics off your hands. A great service to the community. After that event, I browsed through the Raymour and Flanigan furniture store. This is where the old AM&As, and BonTon used to be, if you recall. Buffalo old timers like me will remember! Then I walked past the Duff's chicken wing restaurant ( yum yum) to browse and check out some very exciting new businesses at the end of the mall where the old Sears used to be. The BFLO store, the Home Today store, the BFLO Events Center (not open yet), and the Chrusicki Bakery /Pierogi store are just refreshing and exciting additions to the Eastern Hills Mall. I think this mall really has potential. I hope once the fear of corona has passed, the mall will pick up more business and folks will truly appreciate what it means to shop in person again. It was really nice to be able to walk into a store, browse through merchandise, speak with the salesperson. That's the way humans interact. The social aspect is what made the experience exceptional today at this mall. The only department store left unfortunately is JCPenney. Otherwise there are many interesting stores when would not expect to see in the mall setting. Pet stores, dog training businesses, a realtor office, even a DMV (currently closed due to Covid), Antique collectible stores, a medical fitness center, blood donor organization, to name a few. Came home with a few treats from the Chrusicki Bakery. Due to being in the Orange Zone for COVID, patrons are not allowed to dine at the tables inside the bakery. Decorated so beautifully for the holidays it was so inviting. The entrance with the fireplace and Christmas theme is worth checking out. read more

I've been hearing about how the mall is almost full now and figured with the holiday season that this would be a good time to visit. Well there may technically be store fronts but on the Thursday afternoon that I was there I'd say that more than 50% were closed! Just sitting there dark. No signs saying when they're open. Is it only weekends? There were also numerous kiosks and only 2 were open. I would think if nothing else these places would be open during the holiday season. To say I was disappointed would be putting it mildly. That all being said, the section where Sears was previously located is fantastic! Chrusciki Bakery, Sto Lat Bar, Simply Pierogi, Bflo Shop, and several other businesses have created a wonderful space to visit. Just don't bother with the rest of the mall. This area gets a 5+. If you've just eaten here, it's the Eaten Hills Mall. I really really miss this Mall and what it used to be. It's like a ghost town now. It's pretty damn sad if you ask me. It hurts my soul to see all the tumbleweeds blowing through the mall and I hope that in future they will figure out something that will bring people back to this mall and to the Boulevard Mall. Because it needs that and it deserves that I know some great food items here. Right now the best thing in the mall is clearly the cell phone store which basically will give you dirt cheap repairs for your phone - especially if the owner guy is in here. The best thing to eat here is Nana's (get the chicken souvlaki in a white pocket - cheap and delicious) but the pizza place and the burger/hot dog place are good too. And I come here to get my cell phone fixed as I said. And the DMV here is simply excellent. Yes I said the DMV is excellent. No that's not a typo. Yes my D is excellent too. read more

Went to walk. Yes, whatever it is what it is. First time in the mall in years! I must say it's very clean and there was a lot of activity. So what if it was mostly walkers! I really can't see myself shopping for anything here. No stores caught my eye. Lots of animal type rescue places and non profits I've heard of have set up shop. Of course the DMV is still there in a different spot but there. As well as the movie theater. No food court bit a bake/pie place and a coffee shop I spotted. Sad shell of what a mall once was. read more

Looks like the Eastern Hills has turned into a community for those over the hill... If you're one of those folk that likes to do laps indoors to get your exercise, yeah, this place is great. There aren't any crowds (at least on a Wednesday afternoon) and the bulk majority of the stores are closed down, or clearancing out their merch, so you won't get distracted by all the goodies calling out to your wallet. We're living in an age where malls are dying, and it looks like nails are going into this coffin. We came in through Orvis, one of the few big anchor stores left. The floor was made of stone, which was pretty cool, but at triple digit prices, it wasn't going to hold our interest. What did catch our interest was Jenn's Exotic Pets. I could spend hours content in the shop, which cared more about the animals than any retail pet store I've ever stepped in (throwing shade at you, Petsmart). There was an array of birds, one riding around on a shopping cart, teasing those still cooped in their cages. There were even babies growing their feathers, and even cuter, baby ferrets. After a generous pumping of hand sanitizer, we got to play with the kits, scrambling to keep them still as the workers cleaned their pen. With bunnies and snakes and tarantulas (oh my!) galore, I'd give the shop itself a ten out of ten. I can't say much for the other animal shop, as the cat adoption center is closed on Wednesdays. Many of the remaining stores have cut hours, in what seems to be an attempt to match the limited customer flow. I saw three crowds: one at the DMV, one that seemed to be a special needs group enjoying one of two options in the lifeless food court, and a group of service dogs in training. Long gone are the days of my childhood, where I could revamp my back to school wardrobe. Can't even get a sucker from the candy shop, closed. They're offering spas and jewelry, sure, but even stepping into the toy store doesn't bring me back to that childish glee. (Nor climbing into the quarter cars, though I feared getting stuck in the glittery pink panda getaway car). I've heard rumors of a redevelopment to a mixed use indoor plaza of sorts, and the old grandma in me got excited over the couple massive antique emporiums. Most things are locked up, because of sticky fingered nuisances, but to stroll through and revisit a lost world of games and culture, it captivates you. The old Macy's was filled to the walls, and probably the main draw to the mall at this point. I was torn between a single star and two, and it's what bumped it over the edge. That being said, I wouldn't suggest wasting the gas to come take a look. If you want to drop the kiddos at the theater and take a stroll, maybe. But it's a feeble maybe from me. read more

Ok, I've got to say - This is a unique Mall. While its definitely suffered losses and has tradgicly empty shopfronts, it doesn't lack in charm, and fun dining and shopping experiences. It's worth stopping by if your in the area. What I honestly think it lacks is some "playplace" like attractions like seen in the larger malls to bring in families. I also sincerely think it just needs some shopfronts filled to bring it back to what it was. read more

This mall has been here for ages. When I was little it was considered "too far away" for those of us in the city. To me, its still is too far away to visit often. But I'm here occasionally because of the movie theater. Love those Dipson theaters, at least the popcorn and the movies they tend to show. Ive never seen the mall too busy, but I gather that it does well, I must be there during the slow times. Which is fine with me. Easy to park (and they have TONS of parking), easy to walk the mall. The have a DMV location here too. To go with the Bon-Ton, Avis car rental, GNC, Things Remembered and everything else they have here. The back lot is where one of the car dealers parks their cars I think. I park there because the movie theater is near the back entrance, and the far side of the lot always has hundreds of new cars. 9-2017 read more

Although this mall isn't as busy as it once was, there are still lots of great places to visit inside. It's fairly large so you can get your steps in while you browse. I personally love visiting Jenn's Exotic Pets and the Bath & Body Works stores. There is ample parking around the mall and many restaurants to visit for lunch/dinner. read more

As long as you're not expecting a traditional, bustling mall, you won't be disappointed by this place. I love it! Rather than your standard national chains, you'll find eclectic, local businesses selling interesting and fun wares. The Buffalo store for example is unrivaled for Buffalo gear (clothes, gifts, jewelry, art work, household goods). They have the sweetest staff who really seem to love their job. The toy store just down the hall is full of high quality, varied goods including board games, puzzles, stuffed animals. Not to mention fun displays for the kids to try out the toys. There is a large pet store that houses shelter pets looking for homes. There is a store featuring lots of nerdy goodies like comic books and collectibles. There is a sports performance park where young athletes can get lessons. Niagara Emporium is filled to the brim with antiques and unique items - I spent 2 hours just perusing, fascinated by all the items! There is also an arcade complete with bowling alley. Not to mention a Dipson Theater at the back of the mall, sending enticing wafts of popcorn through the halls. So rather than envision a crowded, typical, boring mall, think outside the box and consider this a fun place to take the family on an outing. Little kids will find lots to see and you won't mind them running down the hall. And don't worry about bumping into crowds with your stroller either. read more

This mall seems to have fallen on hard times, and it's always pretty empty but not all is lost. The mall itself is still very clean and well kept up and there are certainly some different kinds of stores here than other local are malls. I particularly love the pet stores and the nine lives adoption center. They also have a DMV which is convenient, movie theater, food court, and Rocky's a video game/entertainment center which is a very fun time. Many of the anchor stores are gone and this facility is in the midst of redevelopment by ownership. I'm curios to see what becomes of it and how they can find ways to bring life back to this place. All in all, a nice mall and worth a visit for a walk or some shopping. read more

This mall is a shell of it's once great self, yet, it's found its own niche. Lots of independent non-chain stores have taken up shop here and it's actually refreshing. From vintage video game and record stores, to Buffalo-themed apparel and collectibles; even a mix martial arts studio... it's still worth strolling through from time to time. Don't expect your typical mall stores here anymore. Also the Duff's here has decent special and great wings. read more

The Eastern Hills Shopping Center would be a better description for what this "mall" has become. Rumors from various store owners are that within 3 years the entire place will be torn down. Until then we have a collection of eclectic businesses worth checking out! A Dollar (closing in November, due to poor sales) carries a lot you didn't know you wanted and Herr's brand potato chips (I highly recommend the Hot, Blue Cheese, and Jalapeno Popper cheese puffs). Niagara Emporium carries antiques, collectibles, toys, music, retro video games, bongs, knives, books, fish, and well a lot of odd things worth browsing! Bison Billiards has relocated near JCPenny. They have a lot of nice pool tables, a Billiards table, and a Snooker table! They also have pretty good food, beer and wine! The DMV here is small, and while you may have to wait, it's really easy to get into and out of. Dipson Theatres, a small independent movie theater worth a date night! JCPenny, the last remaining anchor store. Sears is currently closing. Bon Ton is gone. Where will we go for work clothing, affordable suits, and $7 T-shirts now? Made in America Store sells those odd things you didn't know were made in America. Like clothing, hats, puzzles, collectibles, and more. A great place to find a stocking stuffer or two. Mooney's Sports Bar and Grill or the old Dave and Buster's is pretty much the same place with different food. Oogie Games, a shop that specializes in retro video games, consoles, controllers, and collectibles. There is still some food places, a pet store, jewelry stores, a shop that makes high end treats for pets, a Mac Solutions location, a few optical places, a chair or two, 24 hr security, a huge (and rather unused) free parking lot.... and the mall is in walking distance of some restaurants, a hotel, and a couple of gas stations. It will never be the slammed, parking lot shopping frenzy of the '80s. Those days are long gone. Even Sears couldn't survive the Internet. Hopefully, the future plans for this Mall will bring businesses back to the local area. read more

A recent walk through Eastern Hills was one of the saddest I've ever taken. I worked here back in the day, and spent many, many happy hours shopping here too. This mall is one of the worst malls I've been to, and I've been to many states and countries during my time in the Marine Corps. This mall was far better in my opinion before I joined the Marine Corps 12 years. All of the good stores are gone and seem to have been replaced with gift shops. I understand a lot of businesses went out of business, but they couldn't have found anything better to put in this mall? The only thing that makes this mall worth it is the Sephora inside JCP. You would think it'd be a nicer mall since it's in Williamsville. Dave & Busters was also a huge selling point for me, but was replaced. This was my first trip to a mall since moving to Western New York. It's small and quiet but clean and everyone working there was very friendly. There are some novelties, such as a pet store that's apparently the only licensed exotic pet provider in Western New York. They didn't have that puppy mill feel to them, and the cats they had up for adoption appeared to be all rescues. The hedgehogs we saw sleeping were adorable and they don't disturb them unless buyers are serious since they are nocturnal animals, which I liked. Their sign also mentioned sugar gliders. We also stopped in a small toy store that had a neat assortment of things, including individual train pieces and a selection of school supplies. We got our boys small toy dinosaurs and some stars for their room. The food court was small but hit all the major mall food groups, and La Rosas had friendly staff and a large menu. No play area, just a small assortment of coin operated kiddie rides. Meh. Star deducted. We watched some students from an MMA school spar on our way out. I suspect this is the mall to choose if you absolutely have to go to a mall during the approaching holiday season but hopefully business picks up then. Update: We took our kids to Mall-o-ween. It's run differently from mall events I've been to in other states because a small donation is required to participate, but it goes entirely to charity, a children's hospital this year. Most of the stores participate, and they are very generous. It's a well organized event for a good cause. I was impressed. Plus it took place the night prior to Halloween, so it can be an in-addition-to, not just an alternative if you feel so inclined. read more

We went to the Eastern Hills Mall for the kids to go trick or treating and thr place was hoppin'. The kids had a great time and it was a good way to spend a couple hours on a cold, wet Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, despite it being busy and fun for the kids, the Eastern Hills Mall, like most shopping malls is also going the way of the dinosaur. The storefronts are dwindling, and the only active stores are thr mom and pop local vendors. The big chains have abandoned ship. Eastern Hills Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Williamsville, New York

Before Walden Galleria came around Eastern Hills was the biggest mall in the region. Times have changed. I'm often a lunch break mallwalker at Eastern Hills due to the proximity to my workplace. Over the past couple of years since Macy's closed, I have noticed that the mall is almost becoming a nicer-than-average flea market. There are at least 4 stores (maybe more) that sell antiques, used video games, knick-knacks and collectibles in glass cabinets, used furniture and random miscellania. The largest of these glorified flea markets, Niagara Emporium, takes up the first floor of the former Macy's store. Like a flea market, Niagara Emporium appears to lease space to independent vendors. Niagara Emporium includes a vendor specializing in used video games, which seems to be cannibalizing on Oogie Games, another store in the mall that sells used video games. The food court seems to lose eating options almost monthly. The latest closure is Subway. What we are witnessing at Eastern Hills Mall in real time is the transition and decline of the traditional shopping mall. I have read reports that they are attempting to re-purpose as a "Lifestyle Center". I hope they can make this happen because I don't see much of a future for Eastern Hills if there is not some kind of radical change. read more

This is my mall - yes, it is made up of a lot of "Mom and Pop" shops - but that is part of it's charm. You can go and hit up the box stores (Sears, JCP and Bon-Ton), but you can also visit the Buffalo Store, Raff and Friends, and many smaller retailers (both locally owned and operated and national chains). Does the color scheme need a makeover, maybe - but it's cleaned and well maintained. There is ample parking, community events, and a good variety. There is literally something for everyone. From the Niagara Emporium (a store that leases spaces for antiques and collectibles) to Sephora inside if JCP, there is something for the whole family. Personally, I am not a fan of flea market thrift shops (there are a few of them), but if the product is well displayed and the shop is clean, I think there is something for everyone. We were there shopping on Black Friday, visited with Santa and enjoyed lunch at the Cheesy Chick. If you don't like it, and don't support it, it will never be revived...so go, and shop. Visit the locally owned shops (shop local) and support the Buffalo economy. (side note - I saw someone with a negative review on Santa's helper who was there a few weeks ago - I wanted to mention that the Santa that we saw was age appropriate, very friendly and social with the kids and acted great.) read more

A good-sized, manageable mall with lots of parking and a decent selection of stores. Eastern Hills has a Macy's, a Bon Ton, a JC Penney and a Sears, along with Orvis, Brooks Brothers, Gap, and more. There is also a food court and a small movie cinema, showing mostly independent films. My very first job at 15 was in this mall, so I have some fond and some not-so-fond memories. Back in the mid to late-80's this place was the shit. Now, it's a bit overshadowed by the Walden Galleria (about 7 miles away) but it's still pretty good for a quick shop. Stopped out here to see "Santa" with my two girls and honestly the worst example of a Mall Santa I've ever seen ! Kid under the outfit must have been no older than 20 minutes and looks like he's easily 180lbs at most, not what i would call the usual picture of Santa. When we walked up to "Santa" he didn't say a single word, didn't interact with my kids whatsoever and generally was awful. This is why this mall is failing, he must have been the cheapest option and if I didn't promise my kids a picture with Santa I wouldn't have bought the picture. If you want a picture with Santa, find a homeless guy in a dirty Santa outfit, it'll be cheaper and you'll have the same experience ! read more

The mall is currently for sale...probably for good reason. I'll start with the positives: -The antique stores and the Niagara Emporium are amazing. I've actually spent a solid two or three hours just walking around here and looking at everything -Mall is very clean -They have a pet store where you can pet the bunnies, ferrets, etc. Pretty quaint but has a huge selection of animals Negatives: -Really limited on store selection. They don't even have an American Eagle anymore. -Even food selection is very limited. There are a couple decent places but mostly you'll have luck somewhere else -Lines at certain stores, like Bon-Ton, can get stupid long lines at weird hours. I once went to the mall around 11 am on a Wednesday and I waited in like for near 10 minutes at Bon-Ton of all places. It's convenient for some things, but I would say it's definitely a mall for an older crowd. read more

This is the best mall if you enjoy going to the flea market. Most stores sell old collectibles and what not. It's a lot of fun to just walk around and find old toys from your childhood. Also they have a Duffs in the mall, so that's awesome. read more

Woof. This mall needs a makeover. It's depressing from both the inside and out. There is little indication of which stores are where and you may find yourself driving around the outside of the mall in circles until you try and make an educated guess and pick a spot hoping the store you want to go to is nearby. They have similar stores to those in the Boulevard Mall but it's the lighting or the color of the floors or walls or something that just makes the mood really dreary. The second I walk in I kind of just want to walk out! It needs an update. read more

I love this mall. It's fun, there's a lot of stores. It was so dead though! I guess people are really giving up mall shopping for Amazon. I get it, but it was nice having the whole mall practically to ourselves. The food court only has a few options. We got burgers at Eric's - the one closest to the doors to outside. My daughter said this was the best burger she's ever had lol! Either she was famished from all the shopping and game playing or it was really really good :) either way it hit the spot. I have such mixed feelings on this mall. Part of me loves the size and quietness of it, but at the same time it's dying a slow death. The main reason we even go here is for duffs or out of convenience when we are in the area and need something. It has very basic stores and then your typical bath and body works, some departments (although the Macy's just closed), Victoria's Secret, Spencer's, etc. It is nice to walk around and not be bumped into all the time but I also feel bad for the store owners since they must be doing terribly. The last time I was in here (about two weeks ago to get my duffs fix) a lot of the stores were closed and it had happened very recently. I think the whole mall in itself is gonna be gone in the near future, which sucks cause it is nice to go somewhere not as crazy and expensive as galleria. So all in all, it's good if you want to do some leisurely shopping, returns without getting glares for taking a long time, or just plain walk around a quiet mall. However if you're looking for a huge variety it's not your best bet. read more

Eastern Hills Mall has, like many of us, gone through tough times and then, soared above. Several years ago, it was eerily quiet, such that you could bowl down the corridors without much notice. Now, the mall has reinvented itself and like the dog after a bath, it has tons of energy! There are regular events that take place--mostly community and family minded activities--such as bringing in sand for the kiddies to play in, in the dead of winter. PR? You bet! Ask any parent if they care! Or when they had the Food Truck line up in the fall, where suburbanites could taste what city folks rave about, awesome mobile restaurant to-go food! On a side note, during the great October Storm of 2006, Eastern Hills Mall's parking lot became "command central"for power and repair trucks. What a community payback. The mall has some great anchors, like JCPenney and Sears, Macy's and Bon Ton, as well as some youth favorites like GAP, American Eagle and Aeropostale, plus specialty shops like Orvis, Victoria's Secret, and Brooks Brothers. Admittedly, if I'm in search of something "important" (like a unique/special event clothing item in my small size) I always head to Walden Galleria though, the selection is much more varied. The mall suits my needs. I go to Lenscrafters, JCP, and GAP, and on cold winter nights, it's a decent place to mall walk. Parking is a breeze and the proximity to other area attractions --like Barnes and Nobel and Bed, Bath & Beyond, and restaurants on Transit Road -- makes Eastern Hills Mall my go-to mall. read more

I like this mall because it is quiet, has some decent specialty shops like orvis, giftology and Jain Lee (which has a great selection of cold weather gear including Sorel boots). The food court has good options and there's plenty of space to walk. I wish they still had that awesome fisher price play area though, had to take a star off for it is sorely missed. read more

In general, I think this mall is pretty junky. But sometimes the lower rated places are easier to shop at because it means there are fewer shoppers to have to deal with. The anchor stores include Sears, JC Penney, Macy's, and Bon Ton. They have a GAP, Brooks Brothers, NY & Co, Bath & Body Works, Express, Orvis... and many other stores, including a number of locally owned stores too. There's a food court and Duff's just opened up an eatery too! There's even a DMV here! This mall ain't no Galleria, but the crowd of shoppers is smaller and it's easy to shop here. This mall has seen many better days. It's definitely a decrepit place to go shopping, especially with other options in the area. Many name-brand stores have been replaced with generic knockoffs, which is alright since some are locally owned, but it's a sign that the mall is dying. By comparison, this makes the McKinley Mall look like the Galleria, and that's saying a lot. The only thing about this mall that I enjoyed was the pet store. I haven't seen one in a mall in a long time, so it was refreshing to say the least. read more

I stopped in because I was nearby and was just going to one or two stores and I was almost uncomfortable walking around in there. I think the Duff's and department stores are the only reason this is really even called a mall. This place needs a face lift and to add some new stores that are relevant. This could be an extremely nice place considering is proximity to Williamsville, East Amherst, and Clarence....Macys left and I dont know what other reason Id come here except for the DMV. I live a minute from here and I still prefer other malls of this dilapidated shopping center. read more
