I had an annual exam in Dec. Dr Cleary saw an infection & recommended me to a cornea specialist before she would proceed with my new prescription. It is now March and the cornea Dr that has been treating me, has ok'd for me to go back for my eye exam. Called Pearl Vision on Saturday, got an appointment for Monday evening after work. The transition glasses that I bought for my dad here stopped darkening in the sun all together only after a year. I spent close to $800 for new eyeglasses and a pair of sunglasses when his prescription changed. The lenses of his eyeglasses soon kept popping out of the frames and the coating was peeling off the lenses. We were told later that it was bc his thick prescription didn't fit metal frames well and that we should have gotten plastic frames. If someone told us that in the first place, we would have gotten plastic ones. Done wasting good money here. The quality is just not up to par for the price I'm paying. read more

I have not had an eye exam in my adult life. The last time I probably had one was when I was in grade school and it was an annual wellness check thing. I also wore glasses once as a young child, but that was a brief stint. Fast forward to now, I decided to make an eye exam appointment, and I am glad I did. It was kind of an adventure, really. An adventure that led to me finding out that I needed reading glasses, which was perfectly fine as I was kind of expecting to walk out of the appointment with a prescription for corrective lenses. Dr. Kathleen Cleary, was super patient and helpful and answered all of my questions during the exam. I'd recommend her to anyone looking for an optometrist in the Quincy area. Dorothy, the sales supervisor, was also helpful in helping me choose a frame and went over all of the options and cost breakdowns, e.t.c.. Extremely rude and poor service. All we asked was simply my wife's pupil distance after paying extra for eye exam and they refused. This would only take them 1 to 2 minutes. They said they only do it if buying glasses from them. They know without the pupil distance you would not be able to order glasses from any other site. Essentially they were trying to force us to buy glasses from them even after paying for the eye exam.. what a fraud! just want to nickle and dime you. Very upsetting. Never going back. I had been to this location a year or so ago for an eye exam and had a good experience, however, due to COVID, and my last minute planning, I could not get an appointment before my prescription expired. I went to a different eye doctor and had the worst experience. I came back here a few months later and Dr. Heather Kass was amazing! She was very sympathetic about my experience and made sure I walked out with the correct prescription this time. My contacts are perfect. Also, everyone in the office was extremely nice and friendly. Every time I have come here I have never been treated kindly. They are extremely rude to me and do not even attempt to crack a smile. I have a feeling it is because I am a teenager and they assume I am ignorant- I watch them treat adult customers much better. After my horrible experience at Cambridge Eye Doctors in Quincy (my review is here on Yelp), I decided to try Pearle Vision on Southern Artery. At first I was not impressed -- as another reviewer here states, the selection is by no means large. I did manage to find a couple frames I thought were OK and Bridget (the store manager) came by and offered to help. With Bridget's help I was able to find three frames (one each for computer work, distance and distance sunglasses) that were very nice. She spent a LOT of time with me. I am pretty picky and she was extremely patient and informative. She was by far the most thorough eyeglass specialist I have ever dealt with. She didn't just write up my order -- she spent time telling me why this particular pair did/did not work for me, recommended others for me to try on, etc. She also worked out the math so I was able to take advantage of an Amazon Local Deal without having to go through the purchase process with Amazon.com. She also filled out my insurance paperwork so I could get reimbursed for $200 through my vision plan at work. I have worn all the new glasses and I have gotten compliments on each pair. My only complaint is that Bridget talked me into getting bifocals with the sunglasses. She was adamant about how it would come in handy but I'm still a little skeptical. Also, the line for the bifocal part is very noticeable in the sunglasses and I think it looks weird there but maybe I'll get used to it. She did tell me that if I hated it, they would replace it at no charge to me. Other than that, I am extremely satisfied with my shopping experience at Pearle Vision and especially with Bridget's help. I would definitely recommend stopping there for glasses. read more

This Pearl Vision is great! Well in my opinion that is. I really love the doctor that is offiliated with this store. She did a lot to answer my questions and keep me well informed (I'm new to the world of glasses). The selection is very good and if I find something online or a different color then what I see in the store, they always order it for me. The employees are also so friendly and helpful. I've been in here before to get sunglasses fixed and they were friendly, affordable and had my sunglasses fixed and back to me in a timely manner. Today once again I needed a pair of sunglasses fixed and the gentleman that helped me was awesome! He was friendly, it was extremely affordable and he fixed my sunglasses right on the spot within minutes. I couldn't even believe it. He has the salt and pepper hair with the glasses. Donna & her mother in law (I forget her name) are so nice & funny! Donna was really patient & understand when my eye doctor at home was so slow with faxing over my prescription! After about 2 weeks we just took the prescription from my current glasses and my new glasses were ready the next day! Dr Cleary was cool for the most part, except she didn't seem too pleased when I got called in to work & needed to move up my appointment. But people have bad days. No biggie. I'm glad she was able to squeeze me in to suggest new contacts. I have allergies and my eyes are almost always dry, so finding contacts had not been easy so far. The best eye care/glasses store in the Greater Boston area. My eyesight exceeded legally blind in the mid-2000's and is now verging on Very Nearsighted/"you should have thought about Lasic 5 years ago" so the process of finding comfortable, affordable glasses is a struggle. That all ended when I came here on impulse having looked at all the eyeglasses stores in the South Shore on Google Maps. Bridget is the person you want helping you at this location. She is both the manager and optometrist not to mention the most empathetic, trustworthy salesperson you will ever find. They not only had literally the perfect pair of glasses for me, they were able to include every enhancement I needed at a price that didn't make me flinch when I heard the subtotal. This place is worth coming to if you live 30 minutes away from Quincy, it is very likely that it is worth trying if you are severely nearsighted and live an hour away from Quincy, thanks everyone at Pearle Vision! read more

I've gone there two times for eye exams and both time the Dr was good when it came to getting my prescription. I've been using contacts which I buy somewhere else due to how expensive they are at Pearl. When my proscription changes this last time I I had to ask the contact people to verify my new prescription. The Dr refused to verify my new prescription and so I can no longer get my contact where they are cheaper because he Dr does not like where I buy them. I thought this was so unprofessional since it is my money and I should be able to buy what I want, where I want. I will no longer be going there for exams. read more

Dr. Cleary is the best eye Doctor I have ever been to! I also like that she does not push things on you and listens to you. There is also no push sales. The sales staff work with you and your insurance and go above and beyond in this respect. I will recommend them to everyone and anyone! This is, hands down, THE best place to go to on the South Shore for glasses. We order all of our family glasses here and every time I go in, they remember us and bend over backwards. This review is mostly for Dr. Kathleen Cleary. She is AWESOME. I went to her initially like 10 years ago. Since my insurance changed, I had to find another doctor. Throughout those years, I've had about 3-4 different eye doctors. I literally called every other year to see if she took my new insurance, no luck. 10 years later, I am back! She even remembered me! I regret not dropping my new insurance sooner because I trust Dr. Cleary and she knows how to treat her patients. I'm actually moving out of state but will be back really often. If my insurance isn't limited, I would def come back to her every year just to get my eyes checked out. read more

Let me start by saying Dr Clearly is a wonderful Dr. I have been going here almost 9 years. She is friendly, knowledgeable, and over all excellent. The woman that works the front in charge of appointments, billing and I think greeting people is not a customer service person by any stretch. She has always been short with me and rude from day one. When you have to go to her to make an appointment or pay, she acts as if I am bothering her. I try to be as friendly as possible to her. And after 9 years not as much as a smile or hello when I come in or to anyone for that matter. But she is the first person you see upon entering. The rest of her staff some of the best around such kind, friendly accommodating women. They have always gone out of their way to be helpful and nice which is why I always came back. I missed an appointment yesterday, being totally immersed in the shock of the results of our election. Which I apologized for a complete over sight. we were glued to our TV watching Hilary speak. My husband and I basically woke up and were in tears. Like a lot of America. I completely forgot my appointment. After 9 years being a loyal customer , the rude woman at the front told me I will charged be 50.00, when I was unhappy about that. She spoke to Dr Clearly and got it waived but then said she would need a credit card to charge me up front for my appointment??!! Which she then followed up with. You would be paying it anyway. I have paid cash for every appointment all these years. However now being told I will be charged up front, and they want to keep my card on file. They just lost a loyal good customer. This was honestly the last straw as my last interaction with her making an appointment was as rude and cold as they always have been. To which I grew tired of tolerating being treated like that. If she is tired of dealing with the public. Maybe it's time for a new line of work. I work with the public daily, and if I acted that way to our guests I wouldn't have a job. I ordered eyeglasses on 12/28/2013. These glasses are covered by my insurance. At the end of January 2014 I called and was told that my insurance did not cover the cost of the glasses so they were not ordered. I called my insurance company who said that no order was ever received. I called Pearl and they said they would now put the order back through. On 3/24/2014 they called to say my glasses were in and ready for pickup. Three months wait for glasses in so unacceptable I will never shop here again. read more

This is my second purchase at the Quincy office and they are the BEST in the business. I was very pleased with my first pair of glasses that I bought over a year ago. Other places I had gone to in the past were not as helpful or attentive. Donna explained everything to me and helped me choose the right pair. I picked up my glasses later that day and Bridget delivered them. She made sure they fit correctly and gave me a case and a cloth and made sure to tell me to return regularly for maintenance ( she compared my glasses to my car and said she wants to see me about every 3000 miles too) and it's free. I laughed but whenever I change the oil in my car I think of my glasses. I have been in regularly to have them cleaned and tightened and everyone there always seems happy to do it. We chat not only about my glasses but about life in general. I have a new prescription and I just picked up my newest pair the other day and am so happy with them. Bridget told my husband to take me out to dinner and show me off in my new specs. I have always been treated graciously and with respect. The people at Pearle in Quincy do care and not just for your eyes or to sell you glasses, they care about me and will care about you too. They know their stuff too. I went with my mother today to a place in the mall just to look since we were already there but I will be bringing her to see Bridget or Donna. They said they liked the glasses on her but only after she said she thought she liked them. The person offered no other assistance and when we told her we were just looking she couldn't be bothered with us which is what prompted me to write this review. I read one of the recent reviews and who ever wrote it is sooooo wrong. I work in a medical office and billing insurances is not easy. When you expect to get one thing back and then don't the bill goes back to the person......I'm sure if you had talked to your insurance and then to the office they would have worked it out with you....sometimes all the insurances need is a call from the member to make sure they pay the proper amount and the mistake was probably on the insurance and not you or Pearle Vision. The other person must have been talking about another office because there is only one eye Dr. at Pearle. At Pearle they help you choose and bring you frames to try that you might normally not try on and they are honest when they say they like or don't like a frame on you and will tell you why. I originally fell in love with a Tiffany frame but it was out of my budget but Bridget found me another that I love equally and was in my budget. I will be returning soon with my mother and to buy a pair of prescription sunglasses. Go to Pearle in Quincy and they will help you see better and look good and feel good.
