This For Eyes store has good range of frames from budget to high-end luxe, and more lens options than I've found at other big optical retailers like BJ's, Walmart, and Visionworks. It would be great if For Eyes had a larger selection of petite women's frames, but that seems to be the case everywhere. What I REALLY love about the For Eyes in So. Weymouth is the service, and I want to give a special shout-out to Cynthia (Cindy) the optician! A while back when my mother and I were glasses shopping, Cindy gave us good feedback on frame choices then looked up our separate vision plan benefits and took the time to price out our frame and lens selections (with insurance, without insurance, with For Eyes' current specials, etc.). She was also perfectly lovely when I wanted to exchange one of the pairs I bought because I wasn't feeling a love connection. But yesterday Cindy took customer service to a stratospheric new level! I had shown up at the store shortly before closing time with my mum's glasses which had been damaged in a fall, hopeful they could be fixed but mentally prepared that it could be a wasted trip since they were bent in a couple spots and a side arm had broken off. Cindy did her best to fix the glasses but it was a lost cause. Undeterred, she checked the inventory and found they still carried the same frame (hallelujah!), so she popped the lenses into a new frame, adjusted them based on the bends in the original pair and created a perfect "new" pair of glasses for only $24 (the price of the frame) that I could then bring to my mother so she could see again. When the office was next to Starbucks the doctor was great. Explained everything and gave my a rx that actually was correct. The new ones doctor had no idea what he was doing. My reading Rx is +2.50. He told me it couldn't be increased because of my age?? The contacts he gave me to take home I couldn't see anything up close. He told me to blink a few times. I went back the next day. He said I should have brought my Rx with me. I said first of all it's in my records and second that doesn't matter since I was there for a new Rx. He kept trying other contacts that shockingly were wrong. I finally found a copy of my old prescription. All he did was give me the old prescription. When I said I wanted my money back he said because I was provided the service I couldn't get me money back. I said I shouldn't have had come back because he didn't do the exam right the first time. I accompanied a friend who wanted to look at prescription sunglasses today. We were the only customers in the store. There was a younger guy at the front door, a tall, older guy, and a very dressed up salesman who helped my friend. The salesman was polite but eventually asked if I would be interested in new glasses. I said I had just got new ones, and sunglasses as well. He asked where I got them. I said I went through Zenni Optical (a mail order discount glasses manufacturer). The younger guy up front laughed very loudly, while the others chuckled in apparent agreement. Then I was asked if I'd been going there for long, and I replied about 8 years, without any problems. More laughter! I told them it was none of their business and left the store. Why on earth would anyone in a sales position heckle someone who's not even a customer? The guy at the front was immature, disrespectful, and an unprovoked bully. The coworkers weren't much better. I did use For Eyes years ago, but Hell will freeze over before I set foot in one of their stores again! And once the guy in the fancy clothes finished calculating the cost of my friend's new sunglasses and new lenses for her current ones, the cost of over $700 for both sent her out the door, too. read more

Went back to find out why the glasses were leaving marks on the bridge of my nose and her reply was "well the glasses are to big for your face". They sold me the glasses. Got new glasses back in July. Great service, got them within a week as promised, even despite the store's re-location. Service was fabulous and especially wanted to send Kudos to Alex, the gentleman that greets people, helps customer's with frames selection, and makes adjustments after receiving a new pair. I discovered a bend in the frames of my glasses the other day. Was very disappointed. Brought them back, with my receipt because I remember Alex telling me the frames have a lifetime warranty. Was expecting to hear a different story when I arrived. Not the case. Alex took them in the back with his tools and made adjustments. Good as new! And no charge! Not only is he polite, helpful and talented, but he's well dressed and very professional looking. Nice job Alex! read more

I have been going here since the 1990's. This was my first time at their new location in the strip mall and not next to Starbucks. Very disappointed. I had an appt but they had a row of people who were in line. It was very rushed, I had to ask questions in order to obtain info the doctors usually tell you about during the exam. I have usually bought my frames at For Eyes as well, but did not like the frames. When I went to purchase frames somewhere else, there was no PD listed, which is the first time that has happened. I have my prescriptions from the past. The place I am getting the frames from said to call the optometrist because that measurement is a standard part of the prescription. When I called For Eyes they said they do not measure PD, they only measure them when fitting frames, which is, you only get the measurement if you purchase glasses there. When I pressed them she said "depends on the Doctor, everyone does it different"." I called, Warby Parker, Pearl Vision, and Lens Crafter. NONE of them have ever heard of the PD ONLY being measured during a fitting. I will never come here again, it is a sham. Must be new ownership because the experience from the previous For Eyes and this one is night and day. read more

Ok. So I go to get the eyes checked. I was greeted by a very friendly staff. They seemed very knowledgeable. My girl and I had appointments right after each other. I have bought glasses here before and they have been fine. This time was a different story. I bought 2 pairs of progressive lens. I've been back twice and these glasses area disaster. I can see & read better with no glasses than I can with these. They tell me that they r to spec but that is impossible because when I put them on I can't read or see clearly. It pains me to write this review as I have been coming to For Eyes since I started wearing glasses 30 years ago however, since they partnered with Lumiere Eye Care Associates, PC things were not the same... I just got off the phone with the optometrist after calling the office over a question about what they charged me, and I feel like I have been taken advantage of and lied to. I am sure that the optometrist will dispute my review and try and say they told me what they were charging me was correct but they lied to me that day and again over the phone just now. I went in for a ROUTINE yearly eye exam and contact fitting. I have insurance and filled out the appropriate paperwork prior to coming in, when I came in for my appointment I was told my insurance didn't go through and they charged me $164.00 I was fine with that because I was told that my insurance didn't go through. I had picked out glasses frames the day of my appointment but i decided to hold off buying them until i could get my insurance straightened out. three weeks later I receive an explanation of benefits from my insurance company and I realized that For Eyes was able to charge my insurance. I thought at this point that I would call them and they would refund the portion not covered under my insurance. I also wanted to go order the glasses that i picked out. I call the doctors office and i am told that the doctor was in with a patient and would call me back. I thought that was rather odd that the doctor would call me to discuss insurance and billing so out of curiosity I called the For Eyes in Needham and asked for their prices and was given prices that were less than what I was charged (they were half the amount I was charged) The doctor calls me back and I explain that I received a letter from my insurance and I think at this point she is going to apologize and refund my card. NOPE! She sat on the phone and tried justifying the ridiculous charges one by one. Still not adding up I explain that I called a different For Eyes and was given prices that were much more in line with what I was used to paying. The doctor at the first eyes in Weymouth starts getting very defensive and says that she "called around to other optometrist offices and her prices were less than other doctors" I don't have this fight in me so I say that I wanted to give her the opportunity to rectify this situation before I wrote a bad yelp review. I also explain that I was going to order glasses that were almost $600 and I didn't until i could straighten out my insurance. However she would not stop justifying her prices and arguing with me so I hung up and wrote this review. I had a bad feeling and I should have listened to it. Sadly I will not be back to this For Eyes until Lumiere Eye care associates, P.C. is no longer affiliated with them. read more

From beginning to end I was treated with respect in a friendly and professional manner. Jacqueline (Jackie) helped me, and she is wicked nice and very knowledgeable. Everything about my "appointment" (I walked in) was easy. I handed Jackie my prescription, and within fifteen minutes I had ordered my contacts and picked out a new pair of glasses. The pricing is very reasonable, they do take insurance and often have promotions (right now they have the best deal of the year, 50% off your glasses purchase!!!) they also have a very wide selection of frames. My eye doctor referred me here (Dr.Ng from Neilson Eye Center 541 Main Street Weymouth), and I completely understand why she did. I highly recommend this place to get contacts and eye glasses. I booked an eye appointment and was told one price but then told the price would be an additional $100 when I arrived. In addition I was instructed to select an additional service for either $39 or $60 prior to the exam for a service that in my past experience had been part of my yearly eye exam at another location. After explaining to Dr. Wood my concern and completing the exam, she told me to see the people who sell the glasses, perhaps they could help me with my inability to see clearly. I over paid, felt taken advantage of as this practice is all about the money. This place was recommended to us. I don't know why. Very run down. Terrible selection of mostly lower-end frames. One man working when we got there AS HE OPENED. He ditched us the second a second customer came in. I was there with my 87 year old mother to get her two pair of glasses and he could not have been less interested in helping us. We walked out. I've been going to For Eyes since I started wearing glasses 15-20 years ago. My Mother recommended For Eyes at the Pleasant Shops in Weymouth. They always help me maximize my vision benefits and get the best deals. When my glasses need tweaking, I can just walk in and they not only make adjustments, but clean them up... Good as new! Plus, they're open on Saturday, which is very important for a working Mom. I was just there yesterday. I was greeted immediately. The store was at capacity, so I had to wait, but not too long. They took my temperature and also provided hand sanitizer right at the door. Everyone was wearing masks. They are being careful and I felt confident that this was a safe environment. I've only ever tried one other place, because they offered a half-price contacts exam. They didn't measure up to the quality service I'm used to at For Eyes. read more

Had eye surgery Wednesday with Dr. Helen R. Moreira and was so pleased with the entire procedure. Upon arrival I was greeted immediately, when thru the pre-surgery prep with a very pleasant woman who continued to check on/update me until time for surgery. Dr. Moreira was wonderful throughout the procedure and afterwards as well. Saw her yesterday for a followup and things look great. My husband is having cataract surgery with them next week and I am having cataract surgery sometime in March. I couldn't feel more confident about our choice of Dr. Moreira --- Nielsen Eye Center is wonderful! read more

I've been wearing glasses (um, selectively) since I was 10. I'll never forget how completely excited I was when I chose my very first pair of pink plastic frames for my adorable *hehe* 5th grade face. I lit up like a tree on Christmas Eve when I FINALLY (it probably took all of a couple of days) got them. Since then, the "thrill of the new glasses" has worn off a bit. Happily, I have started to enjoy searching for a new pair more since going to For Eyes. They have a fairly good selection here, a nice mix of "designer" (Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Burberry, more I can't think of... about $200+) and "budget" (about $60+) frames. There are always coupons available online (www.foreyes.com) and they have a great "2 for $99" deal which includes 2 frames (priced $69.99 and under) w/ lenses. And they offer a great discount if you show your health insurance card. (For BCBS anyway.) OK, I sound like a commercial now, but after a fair amount of comparison shopping, they definitely offer the best prices for a good product. The people that work here are perfect eyeglass-related salespeople, I gotta say. I've had nothing less than stellar interactions. Very friendly, patient and helpful, never pushy, both Kathleen and Lisa have helped me on numerous occasions. They rock. So, I got me a new pair of Prada (mmmmm) glasses *with just a hint of pink ;0)*, the kid got a pair of thin, black wire frames with teeny rhinestones, and a pair of "studious" tortoise-shell-esque ones, and we loooove our new glasses. I was having an issue with my sunglass lenses and stopped in here. They told me they were pitted and should be replaced and if I ordered the lenses online somewhere else, they would put them in for me. I did just that, took them back and they did indeed put them in for me for FREE and I didn't purchase the glasses there, nor do I wear prescription glasses. Don't go there, they just don't need clients .Dr. Thomas J is rich already . I just arrived there 13 min late and he looked at me with a really bad face and said that he was tired and we need to reschedule so I said yeah you look tired so he said yes you are 13 min late .I couldn't believe because he was as acting like that ,it is normal to be late 15 min at least . So I said ok I can see you are tired but you should not act like that with your clients and he said yeah we need to reschedule and said no thank you I will find somewhere else to go . My thing is that I have been going there already for 8 years with my husband and 2 kids , and always I need to wait for them so 13 min made Dr. Thomas that angry at me , no I deserve better I'm a good client , I have friends I recommended to him , they will know . I will find a better place for a better price and let them know. I really hope you think about Dr. About your acting , the door will be open just if have clients . 0 ! I had used For Eyes several years ago with pretty decent luck. I went there roughly 2 weeks ago for an exam, and likely replace my frames and glasses. The 'Doctor' that examined me looked like he just walked in off the street, and pretty much acted like it as well, In my opinion, VERY unprofessional!. He based EVERYTHING on a prior script that was on file from 5 years ago. I explained that i wanted something stronger in my bifocals for computer use. His reply was , " Take more frequent breaks". LISTEN TO ME ! They are NOT strong enough!! My job depends on them. He never once wiped my glasses off, asked how they were fitting, nothing. Ok, I accepted that and figure I will never go back to HIM again. Currently, the glasses I am wearing are scratched a bit, so I shopped for new frames before I left. I wish I caught her name, but this larger, older woman sauntered over to 'help', asking what style I was looking for, and I explained I needed help with that, that I was looking for something more modern, but complimentary to my facial shape. She said 'Oh'...and walked back over to the counter, talking with the girl behind the desk. I waited a couple of minutes, as maybe she was busy. No, she was quite comfy leaning on the counter. I had a positive experience here. The first time I went, Jaqueline worked with me to find the appropriate glasses. She spent a lot of time with me to understand what I was looking for and I never felt rushed. I ended making a selection for prescription and sunglasses taking advantage of the running promotion. I had shopped around on the internet and other stores and found For Eyes to had the best prices (with the promotion they were running). When I went to pick up the glasses an older, heavier gentlemen assisted me. Unfortunately, he used his greasy fingers to give me the glasses and make adjustments. That grossed me out along with the crumb that he had on his chin. After wearing them for a couple of days, I realized that the sunglasses were perfect but the prescription glasses did not fit well and were too large for my face. So I returned and Deborah assisted me and came up with something more suitable. She understood exactly what I was looking for and was very professional. So glad that For Eyes guarantees that you are happy with your purchase. So I was able to exchange them for another pair. Do not go to the optometrist at this For Eyes. My prescription for contacts expired and as I had a recent eye exam I just needed to be fitted for contacts. I was told it would be $100 plus 20 or 45 for a specialty prescription (not sure if I have the correct wording on that). I was seen by an optometrist who never even introduced himself for a total of less than 5 minutes. I told him what my prescription had been and gave him a copy of my recent prescription for glasses. He had me put a contact in looked in my eye had me blink a few times and saw me on my way with my prescription. When I got to the desk I was told it would be $145.00 because I had this "specialty" or whatever prescription. I only wear one contact. I felt totally ripped off. My bad for not doing more research. After a little research this is at the least should have been done. Contact lens fittings are conducted by an ophthalmologist, optometrist or eye technician prior to ordering contact lenses. During the fitting, the provider will ask the patient about what kind of lenses they prefer. He or she will also take measurements of the patient's eye. This will include the measurement of the eye's curvature and size of pupil. The fitting will also include a tear duct evaluation, which insures that the patient's eye has adequate moisture. Patients can also expect to try on a trial pair of lenses. Usually patients need to wear these lenses for at least 15 minutes. Then the eye care provider will examine how the eye moves and focuses while wearing the lenses. read more

This place used to be great, but my recent experience was (and continues to be) horrible. I went in 2.5 weeks prior to an extremely rare real vacation to Italy because I wanted flattering sunglasses for my vacation photos. I found them, and I decided to also get contacts since there was a half-price deal for ordering contacts and sunglasses at the same time. My rx wasn't with me, so I asked the person helping me when she was in; I don't know if they work on commission, but I figured she had been helpful and she knows what I want, so I'll try to stick with her. Big mistake. That was Saturday. She was in again on Tuesday, so I called her then and placed my order. She did not remember me or any of our conversation. Three days later I got a call saying my contacts were in but not my glasses. I said no problem, I don't need the contacts now but I need the glasses, so I'll wait. When more than a week had gone by since my order, I called to check on them. After some checking, they returned to the phone to say they don't know what happened to my order and maybe she forgot to place it but she'll place it now and put a rush on it. That was Friday. I still had a week until my trip, so no problem. On Tuesday, I called again. They don't know where my order is. I explained what already happened, that I'm leaving for Europe Thursday, and now I REALLY need a rush. OK, no problem, they'll get back to me. They did not get back to me. I called the day I was leaving, and the order wasn't there and they don't know why. REALLY? How are you going to fix all the photos from Italy with my ugly old sunglasses? I had spoken with the same salesperson that I thought I was being loyal to every time, and they asked if I'd like to speak with her again. No, I would not. She is completely incompetent. There was no manager available. I told the person I was speaking with that I know it's not their fault, but that I need a call from the manager and I need to know what they are going to do to rectify this. It was a 10-day vacation, and today marks one month since that phone call. Do I have new glasses? No. Have I heard from them? No. I don't know what happened to For Eyes. I have gone there for many years and never had a problem, but I was told they were purchased by someone. Hopefully the new owner reads Yelp reviews. read more
