Service is poor, owner Michelle acts like she is doing you a favor. I have many friends who do business with her so I've given her many benefits of the doubt but it turns out that it's only if you like her that she gives you good service; otherwise, it's only adequate. I finished with cliques defining how I'd be treated in high school. Works for those who can shower appropriate attention on her and her staff. Not the reviewing type of guy but the entitled sentiments she and her staff emit really got under my skin. Later. read more

The "doc" at Q Optical MIXED THE PRESCRIPTION OF MY TWO EYES I'd give negative five stars if I could. I had an eye exam and glasses made last summer. Immediately after putting the glasses on, I felt something's off and even got a headache after wearing it for only 10 minutes. The assistant didn't believe me and repeatedly said: "you couldn't really have a headache". We had an argument and he apologized (very insincerely). I went back the next day when the eye doc was in the store and told her how I felt. Again, she brushed me off and just said the lenses matched with the prescription that was made by her. I took her words and left, but basically never used the glasses the whole year because they are just wrong. Fast forward to last week, I couldn't take it anymore and had my eyesight retaken by another doctor and had him measured the glasses I got from Q Optical. Guess what? - The "doc" at Q Optical MIXED THE PRESCRIPTION OF MY TWO EYES! What a fking joke! I don't care for customer service, not that it's any good, but going to this shithole is just doing your health a disservice. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE PLAGUE. read more

My review has to do with customer service and adjustments. I walked in on a whim to see what the price was to get my glasses tightened as they slide forward on my nose. What was cool was that the guy behind the counter (I wish I had gotten his name to give him a shoutout but he does have a magnificent beard.) said it was no problem to adjust the tightness and did it free of charge. I offered to give a tip but he said he was happy to do it. If someone wants to do it because they like to, that's a place I want to go to get things taken care of. Closing out, "Sold! To the man with the exceptional beard!" read more

I have purchased frames from Q-Optical for over 13 years. When I first walked in their door I was sporting a hideous pair of huge glasses that did nothing for me. I walked out with a pair of cool frames and sunglasses! I have always received excellent guidance and advice in picking frames which always garnered compliments. Dr. Q - aka Dr. Michelle Quintero-Chica is the bomb - one of the friendliest, funniest, and most skilled optometrists I've ever met over a lifetime of wearing glasses. I still keep a collection of all the frames I have bought from Q-Optical and worn over the years: Neostyle, Calvin Klein, Persol, Alain Mikli, Lafont, 2.5 Eyephorics, Armani, LA Eyeworks - just to name a few - even traded frames with friends and family for a change of pace. I am only sad I live 3,000 miles away!! read more

My initial experience with Q Optical was fairly decent, but pretty expensive (nearly $400 for 1 pair of glasses). The reason I was satisfied was because I was able to find a unique pair of glasses that were flattering. Dr. Q told me to come back anytime if I needed adjustments, new lenses, or anything of the sort. She was very nice. Nine months later, the glasses were broken. They had just fallen right off my face as I was sitting at a desk. (The hinge had come apart.) I visited the store a week later. There was a man behind the counter. He told me Dr. Q was out until Monday, and that they no longer carried my brand of frames (Prada). He told me, however, that Dr. Q might be able to help me on Monday. So I Krazy-glued them, and waited until Monday. Gave Dr. Q a ring, and she answered (I recognized her voice), and upon hearing my explanation, stated that she no longer carried my brand. She spoke as though she was doing me an incredible favor by speakng to me. I said, "So nothing can be done?" and she replied, "Correct." I thanked her (to which she spat a rude "Yeah," and hung up). For closure, I called back and left a message about their business practices. I will be going to Lenscrafters. read more

While visiting My nephew in Boston, my glasses broke. My only back up pair were reading glasses and I needed distance glasses for driving. Went to Q Optical and saw Dr. Michelle. She was so great to work with, did a full exam and got my new glasses in time for me to drive back to South Carolina. What a relief! She had such an amazing selection of frames I ended up getting two pairs. Service was prompt courteous and professional. Would highly recommend. read more

I needed new glasses and one day Groupon was all like "Hey, TK. i heard you need some new specs. Here have this awesome deal at Q Optical." And I was like, "Thanks for looking out for me, Groupon." So with Groupon in hand, I ventured to Q Optical. I was there on a Saturday afternoon and was assisted by Michelle. She let me peruse the frame selection and let me try on maybe 3/4 of the selection they had. In between the frames I wanted to try, she threw me some frames she thought I should consider. She laid them out and walked away. No needling, no unwanted commentary. She said if I needed any help she'd be right over there. And she was. Being the most indecisive person in the universe, I apologized six hundred times and said I still couldn't find anything that I was in love with. Michelle to the rescue. Alright, she said to me, I know you have a specific idea of the kind of glasses you want - just try these. She handed me a pair of frames and I was sold. Tortoise shell, well fitted frames. Just different enough from what I had before. Ten minutes for paperwork and discounting and credit card swiping. Another ten for putting in lenses and fitting glasses to my face and I'm out the door with my new specs. Wins all around! read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A STRONG PRESCRIPTION!!!!. The owner will lie and do anything to make a sale. I have a very strong prescription and the owner, Michelle told me that she could do a great job on my glasses. I went to pick up my glasses and they were so thick that the GLASSES WERE NOT ABLE TO BE FOLDED UP AND PLACED IN A CASE! Can you imagine any legitimate optometrist presenting a client with $714.00 Dollar glasses that you cannot fold and place in a case to travel with? Not only could I not fold these glasses , but the owner also put a large piece of foam on the frame so they would not scratch. Did she actually expect me to wear these glasses in public? I then asked her about a different frame and stated that there was nothing that could be done as every frame would be the same. I took the glasses to the office of Dr. Korb who is a leading optometrist around the country in fact Michelle was a student of his many years ago. His office told me that she should be ashamed to expect a client to take glasses that could not be closed. I immediately returned the glasses to Q Optical and the owner is now refusing to give me my money back and I do not even have the glasses in my possession. I plan to file a complaint with MA Attorney General and I will take this owner to small claims court if I have to, to get my money back. I have a letter from Dr. Korbs office and photos of these eye glasses showing how pathetic they were. I just wish that owner Michelle was an honest business woman and had just told me that my prescription was just too severe for her lab to handle, but instead she lied to me to make a money. Please stay from away from this shop as possible. I should not have to go through litigation to get my money back but I will. read more

Q Optical - This is how owner presented me with the glasses. foam on them and they would not close to be placed in a case, awful. - Optometrists Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

I stopped in on my lunch hour today to order some new prescription readers. First time in the store. I was not greeted at all. It's a small space so it's not easy going unnoticed. I understand the owner was helping someone with adjustments but she didn't even look up and even acknowledge my arrival. They were both also having another convo not related to glasses. So I stood around awkwardly for longer than 5 minutes. Then I left. I work in a business a couple of stores down and we are small and we would NEVER ignore anyone that came in. No matter what we were doing. My husband and I were both looking to establish a new place for both our glasses and contacts but I'll look elsewhere. read more

Q Optics is terrible service. I walked in ready to buy and the dude didnt even get up from his computer where he was checking his gmail. Way to go fuck face! read more

I've worn glasses for over 30 years, purchased glasses all over the U.S., and the owner of Q Optical is the best I've ever worked with to fit glasses. Plus, they have the best frames in Boston area, versus the 15+ other stores I visited before .... seeming to all carry the same ol' typical frames. A little difficult to find on the basement level of Newbury street, but worth the effort! Just beware of scaring Alexander, since he's a hard-of-hearing ....see him at www.qoptical.com . Amazing service and a great owner! No wonder they were ranked Best of Boston last year by Boston Magazine. (funny thing....another eyeglass store on Newbury St. recommended Q Optical to me!!! Now that's friendly competition!) read more

I read Saad's review and thought it couldn't be that bad, but I was not acknowledged either when I walked in the door, or 10 minutes later. The person on the phone was too busy discussing paint colors. Don't want to give them too bad a rating, maybe i'll try again. On the plus side, the area of Newbury Street around Q Optical smelled heavily of pot smoke. Strange. read more

Extremely high prices for mediocre glasses. Michelle will try to sell you the highest priced ones without giving you any other options. It's true that she will start filling out the order before you even agree on anything. Don't be fooled by Best of Boston in 2005. It's not anymore. She could be a little nicer too. For instance, she will sell you glasses that are extremely expensive, but then hesitates to adjust them because they are too "fragile". Just shows how much she cares about her customers. read more

Went in there for a consultation and wasn't very friendly and her breathe was quite ghastly. Will not be returning.

I went in for an eye exam and the Doctor did not do complete exam. The new glasses that I purchased their were not working for me. Not my subscription. I could not use them. I went in a month later and was told to try a little longer because they were bigger lenses. I tried, went back said they do not work. they said I waited to long and would do nothing to correct their error. Do not go there. read more

So, I am going to Q Optical to get new glasses. This is why. I get my eyes checked at the hospital I go to for my health care. The last time I went I got a prescription, and went shopping for glasses. I hate wearing glasses, and I found at q optical some very light frames that are very easy to wear. I don't remember if any one was busy or reading email, what I do remember is that when I gave the woman, Michelle, my new prescription she asked if I was satisfied with it. How would I know? she said she could "mock it up" and put lenses in a frame so I could test it, read signs across the street etc. I couldn't, so she gave me an eye exam, refined the prescription and it was perfect, so I got the glasses and have worn them every day for 3 years, and am 100% satisfied. Now my prescription has changed, so I'm going back. If someone is reading email or whatever I'll wait (that's never happened to me when I go in- if you buy glasses from her you can go in anytime for adjustments) They are very low key, you seem to have to ask if you want something, but if you ask the service and the skill is stellar. read more

Just bought another pair of great glasses at Q-Optical - BEST SERVICE and SELECTION in Boston!

I dont know about those old reviews but I have been going there for several years and never had a problem. I have gone thru a few pairs of Eyephorics as my perscription had changed and must say that Michelle is a very good person, knowledgeable and tell's it the way it is. She's familiar with all the brands of frames and lenses and makes proper suggestions. They have a nice selection of trendy funky, cool quality frames and can take care of all your eye wear needs easily. Im not going anywhere else! read more

Not only does the Q have great eyewear and the best eye exam you will ever get - the key to why I am such a big fan is the experience. The people are great. This is not about buying frames it is an EXPERIENCE. The added bonus is the selection and pricing. Worst service ever! I walked in looking and ready to buy a new pair of frames. I took a quick sweep around the small store as the woman behind the counter was helping 2 other people. When I spotted some frames I was interested in I waited patiently to be recognized by the woman behind the counter. After about 8 minutes of just standing there, she finally asks if I have a quick question, "no I'd like to look at some frames" i say. I wait a bit longer for her help and finally she rushes over to me to take out two frames I request and without even asking if I'd like to see more she walks off like she has a line of 20 people waiting. Mind you at this point there is only myself and one other woman trying on about 10 frames, clearly preoccupied. After trying on my 2 frames, I happen to like one pair but am ready to look at more. I stand waiting again, silently nodding to the woman as to say "im ready for your help" (she didn't seem like much of a talker) but all the stuffy, poorly dressed woman does is sweep by not even looking at me and puts the frames I was looking at away, including the ones I was still considering. I quickly tell the sales woman I'm still very interested in the glasses she rudely tries to put away without asking if I'm done and she seems taken aback by my interest as if I'm some 10 year old kid trying on sunglasses for fun. I stand in my place a bit stunned by her disregard for customer service and clear lack of people skills and decide to high tail it out of there. I'm not quite willing to fork over a couple hundred dollars to a woman who so rudely dismisses a potential customer or to a store that hires such blatantly rude sales people. read more

Q Optical is by far the best place for eyeglasses in Boston. Great selection, price and outstanding service. Dr. Q (Michelle) has a keen eye and can choose the perfect glasses for any face. I have been going to this wonderful shop for over 15 years. This business is a hidden diamond! If you are looking for a top of the line optometrist who truly takes pride in what she does and delivers eye exams and flawless product, then this should be your destination for quality personal eyecare. Dr. Quintero-Chica is a specialist in personal eyecare in a world where everybody should just start wearing a number instead of using their name. She refuses to let her business be anything but a top notch experience in every way. Take the time to stop by and spoil yourself. read more

Like the previous reviewer I walked in to ask a question-- in my case about a pair of frames I've had for over a year. Jake was very helpful and as we chatted I looked at some frames in the store. Ultimately I decided to have two pairs fitted for lenses-- one I had purchased previously and another-- a funky red and black pair--from the shop. I returned a week later and met Dr. Michelle Quintero-Chica, who adjusted the frames and provided counsel about how to care for the lenses. All told it was the kind of experience I hope for when shopping for items I will use every day. From well-priced lenses to a small but well-curated selection of frames, Q Optical has everything you need. I will be back again soon! read more

Pretty good selection and good prices for Newbury St. glasses. The lady who worked there was attentive but the vibe was a little weird. The friend I went with was looking for feedback from the lady about how glasses looked but she didnt say much (I'm not the kind of person who wants feedback so I didnt think this was a problem). My friend a good pair so probably will end up buying glasses there. read more
