My husband and I started seeing Dr Cohen last year and we both find her to be wonderful. Her…read morestaff/ front office is great and responsive. The exam with Dr Cohen as the most comprehensive exam I have been through since I went to the eye doctor at a fairly young age (8-10 years old). She was the first doctor to ever exam the inside of my eyelids (don't fret she simply flips them over and looks at them) and explain what she was looking for. Dr Cohen is sociable and fun -- chatting throughout the exam to keep things moving along. I love the ability to order contacts online and the prices are comparable to all of the other sites where you have to go through the bother of having the company verify your prescription with the doctor. I also like that she has what appears to be the best and newest technology. For example, she doesn't have to dilate pupils, she has the ability to do imaging (for a small additional cost because insurance won't cover it). I was willing to pay rather than spending my afternoon walking into walls and not being able to work because everything was fuzzy. My husband also went to see Dr Cohen and similar to another poster he also was tested for glaucoma because his imaging showed something off. It was explained to him and he opted for the additional testing. He felt that everything was explained and he understood what his options were for the issues presented. I used to go to the big chain stores and I felt ripped off after seeing what I could get for service with Dr Cohen.

We have been going to Dr Cohen as a family for the past 4 years now and found the whole office to…read morebe extremely professional, helpful and wonderful. Dr Cohen herself is very knowledgeable, personable and goes out of her way to give you ample information about your tests, results etc which goes a long way in building trust and establishing a comfort level.

Great experience overall!…read more Dr. Elliot and the staff were very friendly. I worked primarily with Mike Sumner and one other technician. (Name Pending...) The staff there is very knowledgeable. They also pointed out why my older frames weren't the best fit for my face and educated me to the sizing and numbers located on the frame. I've worn glasses now for 20 years, and I've never experienced such top notch service, expedience, and more useful facts surrounding the process. I highly recommend using The Optical Shoppe if you are looking to buy some news lenses/frames.

I would give 0 or 1/2 a star if I could…read more... I recently had an eye exam because my glasses were no longer working well and I was having trouble seeing clearly. At the end of the exam, the doctor told me that she had "increased my prescription slightly." I used the prescription provided by the office to order new glasses online, but when they arrived, I could barely see through them. I compared the new prescription to my previous one and discovered that, despite being told it was increased, the new prescription was actually weaker! I called the office hoping to get some clarification or have the doctor review it. Instead, the receptionist was dismissive and argumentative. I was told the prescription was based on my responses during the exam and essentially that there was nothing wrong with it. She did not even offer to speak with the doctor. It had only been a little over a week since the appointment. At one point, I was even told that glasses don't necessarily need to be "crisp and clear" and that being slightly off is okay for some people. Seriously? I understand that prescriptions are based on patient responses during an exam, and I wasn't asking the office to reimburse me for glasses purchased elsewhere. I simply wanted someone to take seriously the fact that I was told my prescription had been increased when the written prescription actually decreased--and that I could not see properly with it. The lack of concern and customer service was extremely disappointing. I don't think wanting to see clearly and crisply through a new prescription is an unreasonable expectation.

I had LASIK done on Tuesday this week with Dr. Violin and Elaine. Both of which were fantastic…read more Here are my thoughts: 1) LASIK is somewhat competitive with companies so if the first thing you think about is cost, you can negotiate a good price - always negotiate because there is a good deal out there somewhere. I went for the free consult on Thursday 8/9/2012 and they scheduled my procedure for the following Tuesday - which is beyond awesome. 2) Elaine (nurse) - was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. She will return calls very promptly. She laid out all the good and the potential bad so that you have nothing to imagine after the procedure. Elaine will certainly make things much more comfortable. 3) The procedure - FAST. So you get this done in Quincy. Parking is terrible so get there a few minutes early. They will give you "something nice" to help you relax. The total time of laying on the procedure bed to the time you stand up and leave is seriously 5 minutes. The laser process is about 2-3 minutes total time for both eyes. They will talk to you throughout the procedure. Awesome. A lot of pressure but you can expect that. 4) Post-op - within a half hour after the procedure, the drugs wear off and it becomes extremely uncomfortable. All you want to do is close your eyes and rip something close to you in half. Hopefully you won't get stuck in traffic as I did. Take your happy pill and some NyQuil and sleep it off for a few hours. You will wake up and start to see nice. The next day I was seeing 20/15. Light sensitivity is very annoying but I can put up with it for that it's great to not need corrective lenses. The light sensitivity will make lights halo or glow a lot and certainly make things a little fuzzy. Just wear a hat for a few days. 5) Final words - I am on day 2 post-op. I am still sensitive to light but I see great. Better than great. My left eye is more sensitive than the right but I guess that is normal. I was 7 the last time I didn't need glasses - I never wore contacts. So I have no idea what it was like. It's like brand new to me. I am hoping that in another few days, it will all go away. On last thing - the protective goggles they provide you to wear at night for a week will leave deep imprints on your face if you sleep on the side of your face. Practice sleeping on your back. Job well done Dr. Violin and Elaine
