Dr Rappaport is friendly and gentle. I just got a routine contact exam and he made the process quick/pain free. I was in and out before I knew it and got exactly what I wanted. My previous eye doctor would try to make me change my current contacts, then hold my contacts prescription hostage for a few weeks since I was "testing" the new brand that he insisted I should try. He seemed to do a very thorough examination and I thought it was great that he was very honest and told me that my current prescription was adequate and that I did not need new lenses. I've had glasses since I was in 4th grade. Over the years, I've had to use my glasses more frequently (now all the time) as my eyesight has gotten worse. I'm new to the area and had no idea where to go to get my yearly eye checkup. I knew that my prescription would be different because my glasses weren't working as well as they had been before. I found Dr. Rapaport's office on Yelp and figured I'd give it a try from others reviews. He has worked with me over the last year to make sure the new glasses I purchased were the perfect prescription. The first pair felt too strong and he has worked with me over the last few months to make sure they're the perfect fit. Working remotely over the past year and a half and attending grad school remotely has also increased my need for the perfect prescription. I tried out the new pair for a few months and they just didn't feel right. The first time I called to explain this he gave me thorough directions on how to ease into them. I had to go in again because they just didn't seem like the best fit. Because the glasses are still under warranty, he adjusted the prescription (I also have astigmatism in both eyes) so now I'm just waiting for the pair to be fixed. I will say I was highly impressed by how fast the first pair came in. I'm also impressed by his knowledge and willingness to work with me as I find the perfect prescription. read more

They've forgotten to order my contacts twice now and when I went to pick them up I was told they were not in and they'd need to reorder. Mind you this is after I received an email stating my contacts were in and ready to be picked up. I call a few days later to confirm that they are in so that I don't need to rush out of work to make it there by 6 again all for the contacts to not be in the office, and was told that they had been in the office just put in a different spot. I asked well it's Wednesday I came in Monday to pick them up when I was told terry's need to be reordered, why hasn't anyone called me to tel me they were in? Either way these guys suck and the receptionist is rude as shit. read more

BEST EYE DOCTOR in the metro area, definitely worth driving far away to see him. I recently crossed the threshold of needing transitional glasses. I had a history of astigmatism and nearsightedness. Always hated my glasses from everywhere I went. It turned out I really didn't have astigmatism at all and it only took him a few minutes during the eye exam to know that. Dr Rapoport seemed very knowledgeable and experienced, and his staff was super friendly and nice (and so was he). First time wearing transitionals and I love them so much I wear them all the time. He was patient with me taking a long time choosing my frames and I totally LOVE the one he recommended. Even though I don't live close by to his office, his outstanding care is worth driving far to. I went in to pick up my contacts from Dr. Cusner, who shares an office with Dr. Alan Rapoport. I desperately needed my glasses tightened and was told that he could do them. I let his Front desk person know what I needed. I waited for about 15 minutes and then the doctor came out I had to go up to the desk again and asked if my glasses could be tightened. He looked me at like I had two head. He didn't say anything, but held his hand out. I gave him my glasses. He took them and looked them over (I explained that they were from Dr. Cusner and the State) and placed them on a counter. It took him almost 10 min to get to them. I watched him, albeit with blurry vision as I can't see well without my glasses, mess around with his computer and walk around his work station. When he finally got to them he tightened them and then walked over to my and placed them on the counter in front of me and walked away without a word. What sort of eye doctor puts glasses down in front of a BLIND person instead of handing them to the person? I had to squint to find them (after standing by the reception desk squinting for 10 min).
