Don't ever go there. They're not honest. Here is what happened to me; I filled up the first time patient registration form with my vision insurance information. They registered me but never told me that they did not accept my vision insurance, instead they did my eye exam and charged my health insurance as a medical exam. As a result, I had, not only, to pay a high co-pay but also extra money out of pocket. Not an honest service. No wonder why they've open slots for appointments all the time. Think before you go there. read more

Very happy with Braintree Eye Associates. I saw Dr Arsenault he was very kind and thorough. The office is easy to get to. Highly recommend

I've been going to this optometrist location for years. Super convenient inside a LensCrafters in South Shore Plaza (across from the food court). I had an eye exam there in 2012 (new prescription and frames), 2016 (not enough change in my prescription so the doctor said my old glasses were fine), and 2022 (new glasses). I appreciate that the optometrist doesn't recommend buying new glasses when you don't need them. I also was not shamed for letting 10 years pass between eye exams. It was not an intentional wait, just didn't become a priority since my old glasses held up all this time and only recently did I start to get headaches which is usually my signal my prescription needs updating. Doctor was also reassuring that my optic nerves looked great. (I always ask because there's a disease that runs in my family that the first signs of can be optic nerve damage.) Pleasant surprise, my insurance covered the exam - no co-pay! I have Atnea which in my experience doesn't cover much. read more

Dr Phil and Dr Dave are utmost professionals. Always run on time and thorough with their exams. Great bedside manner

Dr. Arsenault is as good as it gets. Friendly, professional, and as you'll see, he loves his work and he can't help but do an awesome job. Some people, you just know. There's no bullshit about them. They're completely authentic. I never cared one way or another about where I got my eyes checked, which is insane, but it's about eye glasses, right? Nope, it's so much more. It's about eye health, which can't be overstated and after I went to Dr. Arsenault, I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. I've been going to Braintree Eye Associates off and on for about 7-8 years, probably more. Yesterday's visit, after 3-years of pushing off my prescription renewal, reminded me how pleasant the experience is, and how important as well. read more

The front desk receptionist was friendly and the waiting area was clean. However, they are located in the mall and I'm sure they have very high overhead costs to cover, which leads me to their billing practices. Braintree Eye Associates likes to bill you and your insurance company for services not rendered. Call to dispute the invoice and they use their only customer service card, threaten to send you to collections. A doctor giving you a sample of Systane Complete does not constitute a $140 "Doctors Visit" in addition to an Annual Eye Exam charge. read more

Staff is friendly & helpful; whenever I've had a question or issue, they've worked with me to ensure it was resolved. Dr. Arsenault is always energetic, thoughtful, attentive, and professional. He remembers me between visits - not just for the specific vision visit details, but also the miscellaneous items that we may discuss during a visit. Sometimes the wait is longer than I'd like: the whole staff works to process everyone as efficiently as possible. Other than the occasional long waits, I'm very happy with the quality of care & service. read more

I have been a patient here for close to 11 years. The optometrist I see, Dr. Herron, is always professional, amicable, and makes the visit pleasant. The staff, on the other hand, is rude, unprofessional. Here is one instance of such unprofessional behavior. I called into the office one morning, in hopes of making an appointment. It was after 10 a.m. (the office opens at 10) and was abruptly placed on hold multiple times by staff. I thought this must be a mistake, so I waited, and then called again. Except, then, all the calls began going directly to the voicemail. It is highly unprofessional of office staff to answer the phone with such lack of courtesy toward patients. If the office cannot handle the volume of calls at an given hour, that should be an internal discussion that does not lead to adverse effects for patients. As a patient, there is a simple expectation that when calling into the office, someone should be there to answer the phone during office hours. The least that can be done is this: Answer the phone, speak with the patient, and kindly ask the patient to call back when you are less busy (if call volume is the issue). Hanging up the phone abruptly, or sending all calls to voicemail, knowing that the office is indeed open, is unprofessional, passive aggressive behavior. Why compromise the business of these talented optometrists due to poor staff behavior? read more

With the exception of the young women working the reception desk at entry, the staff here are terrible. My last visit to see Dr. Heron he made me uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure was confusing me completely for another person. Optometric Technicians completely lack the professionalism and patience to deal with patients. I had an unfortunate situation where I lost my only pair of glasses and needed to make an appointment to get new ones. My vision is pretty bad so without glasses or contacts I can't work, drive or even watch my kids. There were no appointments available for 3 weeks and the dr. was not willing to extend my prescription in the meantime so I could get a replacement pair. Appointments were unavailable locally for weeks and I was stuck. I asked the Optometric Technician that answered the phone for option and she offered nothing but attitude, essentially "tough shit". When I asked for a copy of my prescription so I could try to get a temp. pair on my own, she said they couldn't release my records. (By the way, patients have a right to their records and it's a HIPP violation to not provide it). I then asked for someone else to talk to since she refused to help or offer any assistance and was told there was no one else to speak to. I then went down to the office so I could get copies of my records that she refused to help me with over the phone. ONLY to have the receptionist not only assist me with getting a copy of my medical records but also with a small supply of contacts in my prescription until I could get an appointment somewhere else. I would have only given them 1 star if it wasn't for the kindness of the front desk but I honestly would not recommend this Drs office because of the lack of professionalism with the techs and with the dr. Listen, I get that there are policies but in attempting to figure out a solution to my problem I heard from three, THREE other optometrists who verified a multitude of options to get me in glasses until I could either get an appointment with updated prescriptions. This staff was just lazy and refused to help. Needless to say, I will be going to one of the other Drs. I spoke with and were willing to help a new patient in an unfortunate situation. read more

First I want to say, I am sorry I did not see all the Terrible yelp reviews that Braintree Eye Associates inside the Lenscrafters store, has had in the past years. Dr. David Herron OD saw me on 6/21/2020. He then wrote up a totally Wrong Prescription which I had filled. The new glasses cause my eyes to strain, as thy try to adapt to the wrong Dr. Herron Prescription. So as not to damage my eyes I had another eye exam in Boston. This Doctor said the other prescription is "Way Off !" I called Dr. Herron office and spoke to Lynn. She promised that we would definitely hear from Herron's office. Never happened. So we had to stop payment on our credit card. Bottom line: Stay Away From Braintree Eye Associates. read more

Since, yelp didn't post my review - Here it is again below. Let me also add, which I didn't in my last post: one time they also went ahead and ordered me contacts that I NEVER GAVE CONSENT TO. They tried to then charge my insurance for them, for contacts I never asked for && never received. Why would you then try to charge me? Scammers. When we asked them they said, oh because they figured I would need them. NO. ----------------- Someone please tell me how they continue to scam people, and stay in business. I don't know why I continue to go to them to have my eye exams when we run into issues every. single. freakin. time. The location is super convenient, the stress not so much. I dread coming here, to the point I have decided I'm never coming back and going somewhere else, with better attitudes and who don't try to scam their patients. Since we've been coming here, we've noticed they don't discuss anything they bill to your insurance. I come in for regular eye exams for contacts every year, I hear from my insurance they've tried to charge for all these extra things that never happen or were asked for.. every year. The first year we let it slide, it wasn't worth the fight with them. Then, it became a trend every time we came back. The doctors so far have been okay, ask about your personal life, meet with them for less then 5 minutes, done. Odd, because they try to bill for all these medical things but barely look at your eyes. Anyways, the front desk ladies. HORRIBLE. There's a couple older ladies and few young ones. The older ones must be cynical or hate their job. I have never ever had a friendly encounter with them. The tall older blonde lady, the rudest of them all. Super B*tchy and not helpful. I've always hated her attitude since the day I came. Sometimes when I'm in the waiting area, I even hear her being rude to people on the phone. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you're only there for a prescription for glasses or contacts and don't want to be billed extra, don't bring anything up, not even if your eyes are dried. They will bill you for anything and everything even if it has nothing to do with you and just general eye questions. They are such scam artists it boggles my mind. I could go on for days, explaining the shady stuff they have done to us. If you're going to bill my insurance all this craziness at least be a professional office and call your patients to explain to them what you're about to do and why. Oh I know why they don't, because they do all of this behind your back in hopes you don't check with your insurance and soak up all your money. THE WORST. read more

Extremely professional and very fair. I had some issues with my insurance and Dr. Herron personally handled the issue. Dr. Herron's service was also exceptional as I have a very complex prescription and it required a lot of extra attention to ensure I got the prescription that would best serve what I was seeking. Unfortunately I have to make the choice of having glasses devoted to reading on a computer, or a more universal pair that won't work as well close up. I was given options as to how to proceed and I found a prescription that suits me well. Dr. Herron took the extra time to ensure I fully understood my options, and I plan to visit again soon for a backup pair or to simply confirm my eyes have not changed. Highly RECOMMENDED... OF course every business is facing staffing/logistical challenges post pandemic, but they are doing a great job of serving patients and keeping us safe at the same time. read more

If you need contacts go elsewhere. Most places charge a "contact lens fitting fee" now but I have never seen anywhere that it is over $60 before; they will try to charge you $120 the first time and 65 after that(even if you have worn contacts for a decade and just need a prescription renewed). I am 30 years old and have been going to Dr. Herron since I was 11! I will never go to anyone else because he is so knowledgable and kind. When I was a teenager, my mom had a "floater" that was bothering her and she went to Dr. Herron who told her she had a small tear in her retina. He sent her to an ophthalmologist in Boston and that same day she had laser surgery. The ophthalmologist told my mom that the tear could easily have been missed but if it hadn't been found, it could have progressed quickly and led to blindness. Thank goodness for Dr. Herron! I 100% recommend him if you need an optometrist. read more

I was lucky enough to not have any eye issues until my 20s. And even then I was kinda scared to have my eyes poked and prodded. This office made my first experience great. The reception staff is friendly and accommodating, the techs are great, and both Drs amazing. I love the hours they are open as it makes getting an appointment easy. Even though their office is inside the Lenscrafters they don't pressure you to buy there (I have and I really like the store) and they made me feel comfortable when I asked a million questions about now needing glasses. read more

It's been some time since my first review and after my most recent experience, I am going to have to rescind my 2-star review and bump it to a 5-star review (if I could give them 10 stars, I would). Being stubborn, what I thought was pink eye rendered me virtually useless. I was so sensitive to light, tearing all the time, and couldn't focus on anything. Thinking it was bad contacts, I took them out and rested my eyes. It wasn't until I couldn't even handle the light from my iPhone was when I realized I was in trouble. Not sure what to do ... do I go to the ER, do I call my regular doctor, or the eye doctor? I called Braintree Eye and asked what to do. "Come in immediately." Fortunately, Hubs was home and could drive me to Braintree. I felt like a vampire emerging into the light. We were on our way within the hour (seriously, I had to take a shower and make it appear I hadn't been hiding under the covers for 16 hours) and taken immediately in. I was seen by Dr. Arsenault and after about 20 minutes, he ruled out pink eye immediately. A corneal ulcer. A what? Well, it's just as painful as it sounds. Anyway, he was able to diagnose it and come up with a treatment plan. He was really thorough with the diagnosis and although he had to shine a lot of light into my eyes (yowza!), I trusted his judgement and he did everything he could to numb my eye. I was to go on a heavy round of eye-drop antibiotics and then work my way into a steroid drop. Rather than just sending me off with a few prescriptions, he saw me 24 hours later to check in and see how things were going. Then I saw him two days later. And then a week later. Between the medicine, my eye started healing great. If It wasn't for Dr. Aresnault, who knows what would have happened. He answered every question I had about it -- how it happened, what could have caused it, how I can avoid it later on, and if he could write me a prescription to give to Hubs for the cute pair of sandals I saw in Lord & Taylor next door (the answer was no ... damn!). For whatever your eye situation may be, this is the place to go in Braintree. My situation required more than just a simple check-up and Dr. Arsenault certainly delivered. He is extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, and extremely compassionate. I highly recommend and will return. read more

I don't really have many eye doctor places to compare this place to but here goes! This place is not only convenient but very clean and more professional than most places I've seen on the streets, etc. I had called on a Tuesday morning around noon and asked for an appointment in a couple of hours and had it booked right away which was great! I came in and only waited about 10 minutes until I was seen. The whole procedure took a total of about half an hour (just a check up for contacts/glasses prescription). I was also given a new pair of contacts on the spot to use. All of the staff were pretty friendly. Doctor was great as well. Didn't make me feel uncomfortable whatsoever. It IS located inside of a Lenscrafter inside of South Shore Mall, however, they do not try to force you to buy their own contacts or any of the eyeglasses in the store. Overall, great place. It didn't cost too much with insurance. I'd say it's on the cheap side compared to other businesses who are not even as professional or accommodating. read more

I had been a patient of Braintree eye associates for over a decade, and have always had great experiences there. However, I am completely shocked and upset at how the receptionist just treated me when I called today to apologize for missing a payment. I moved from Massachusetts out of state in May and apparently the bill they were sending me for $130 did not get forwarded to my new address. I know this because a debt collector reached out to me tonight. I was shocked, and, of course wished that the office had called me since they have my phone number instead of calling a debt collector, however, I reached out to the office immediately after to apologize. Shortly after we began speaking, the receptionist hung up on me, and then proceeded to disconnect my calls. When I finally got through again, she told me that she did not have time for my complaints and hung up on me again. I am truly upset by the way I was treated by this woman. I also will keep trying to reach the office, and ask them if they would consider letting the debt company know that this was an error, as this can impact credit for years to come. I can only hope that Dr. Herron and/or Arsensault see this review, as they should know how loyal patients are being treated. read more

I have been going to Braintree Eye Associates for about 4 years and I absolutely love them! It's pretty busy so plan on a little wait especially around school season or the end of the year. The staff is always warm and friendly. It's conveniently located and you can book an appointment online. Plus, they are open until 7! Dr. Arsenault is so kind and caring. I had Lasik eye surgery years ago and struggle with glare and blurry vision. I also have a lazy eye. I am definitely not the easiest patient. Dr. Arsenault has always listened to my complaints and done everything he could to help improve my vision. Even when I wanted to give up, Dr. A. kept pushing me to try something else. I would give zero stars if possible. Dr. Herron is a great doctor however it doesn't matter because you will have to jump through hoops to see him. I have a serious health condition that requires constant follow up and making an appointment is impossible. The front desk staff is SO incredibly rude, I have never experienced anything like it in the medical field. I have been on hold for nearly an hour at a time (with no option to leave a message and get a call back at their convenience) they don't even wait to hear why you're calling before disconnecting the call or putting you on hold for an hour. If you try to hang up and call back thinking your call was missed they yell at you and tell you they don't have time for you and hang up on you. Sadly I have to take my business elsewhere because I literally cannot get through to make an appt with my doctor. I can't emphasize enough as others have as well how incredibly rude the front desk staff are. read more

Normally, I have somewhat Decent to great experience here which all depends on whos working that day. To start off positive. I don't know his name but one of the only male Front desk associates is always extremely nice and very helpful/informative every time I come there. When he is there I always leave with a clear head that I got/paid for what I came for. He goes out of his way to insure that the best services are given. Also, Dr. Arsenault is very great at what he does as I have been seeing him for the past 4 years. Now to the Negatives. While the front desk clerk I mentioned above is GREAT, his female colleagues that also work at the front desk are very rude and unprofessional. When I called and mentioned to them that I had an exam I told them of an insurance change and they asked for my new insur info and said that they updatednit into the computer.. Great, I'm thinking I should be all set when I get into the offIce. I show up abd check in for my appointment and as I''m getting ready to take a seat I felt the need to ask what insurance they had on file. They said I had an insurance that I told them I was no longer affiliated with. They replied, Oh someone just must not have entered it.. I'll do it now. Again, Great, but at this point I'm a bit annoyed. After the visit, I stood back in line and waited to receive my receipt. While waiting two of the ladiess some what Ignored my questions and began to talk about how they wish they had "nips" of alcoholic beverages at the desk. One of the ladies hands me my reciept and I noticed I was charged a certain amount that seemed strange. I asked them If this was correct and they answered with attitude and sAid yes. Once I get to my car I look over the bill and see they charged my insurance that I told them I was no longer affiliated with after they supposedly updated my new insurance in the system TWICE within the HOUR. I Called back and told them and they said the same thing, "oh I dont know what it didn't update". I'm very fed up at this point because I feel like I was not billed correctly, I can't get a straight answer about insurancei formation and it seems to be the employees at tHe front desk are too lazy to do their work. This is upsetting to me truly. read more

I had to see another dr at my last appointment and he was just as nice, I believe dr. Heron? No matter who you see they'll take care of you. And this is one of the few offices that I visit that actually take you on time lol. Once covid is over I cannot wait to get a eye exam. My 10 year old son found out he needed glasses and was none too pleased about it. We went to the eye doctor and the exam was pretty quick and painless. In hindsight (pun intended), maybe the exam was too quick and not thorough enough. Honestly, with a child or anybody who has never worn glasses before, the prescription should take more than a two minute (literally) examination to determine it correctly. Hence the problem.... My son was resistant to wear glasses so I hesitated on getting the prescription filled if he wasn't going to wear them. After he accepted the fact that he was visually impaired, we went and got some cool glasses with transitions lenses. He began wearing them and liked what he could now see - but he said they made him dizzy. So I went back to Pearl Vision in Quincy (which, by the way, is excellent) and they tested the glasses and confirmed that they were accurately and correctly filled. I told my son to wear them for a a few weeks to see if he got used to them. When I realized he had stopped wearing them altogether, I figured I had better make sure the prescription was correct. I called Braintree Eye Associates and was told (after the fact) that his 90 days had expired. Even if the doctor made a mistake and the prescription was incorrect, we would be charged again. I missed the 90 window by a small margin but was still going to have to pay. I guess I just assumed that if the prescription was wrong, they would happily have him come in with his glasses and double check it. I guess I assumed wrong. So I'm yelping to let others know about the 90 days and to make sure your exam is THOROUGH and ACCURATE. If your glasses don't seem right or they make you dizzy, don't try to get used to them. Call them right away. read more

Do you wonder why your insurance cost so much? I ran out of contact lens and to get new contact lens, I needed new prescription as it has been more than 1 year since the last exam. It drives me crazy that I need new exam very year to order contact lens even though my vision hasn't changed in 10 years. Such scam... I scheduled the appointment specifically for lens prescription. I didn't ask for anything else. I wondered why they asked me for my insurance information when I asked for contact lens fitting. (contact lens fitting isn't covered by insurance) I gave it to them without much thought. It was easy enough to schedule appointment and go to facility in the mall. After I met with the technician for contact lens fitting, they had me see Dr. Arsenault. He examine my eyes for a while and said he'd like a follow up as he saw potential issues. He was very nice. I scheduled the follow up visit, paid, and ordered new contact lens. I thought it was great. Few weeks later I got a bill for additional payment. Apparently they had charged my insurance company for additional exams and lab costs. It doesn't include the contact lens fitting cost which I paid. Because my insurance didn't cover 100%, I was on the hook for additional payments. I called puzzled why I wasn't informed about the additional exams they were doing on me (without my consent) and they would charge the insurance company. I told them while I appreciate their concern and examination, I asked that next time they want to do something, they consult with me first. The receptionist was so rude and said it is standard practice to do all the exams if they have insurance. I asked what about if I don't have insurance? They said in that case, they would consult with the patient and get their approval for the cost before they proceed. I don't understand the logic here. Why is it OK to perform exams without my consent if I have insurance? When I went back for a follow up visit, I asked them if there will be additional charges and if they plan on doing any additional procedures, please check with me first. Receptionist got so angry again. She said there will be additional charges but cannot tell me how much it'll cost. They'll bill the insurance and there might be additional cost for me as well. They just can't tell me. They said if you don't agree with it, you don't have to do the follow up. How am I supposed to not do the follow up when my insurance and I was charged for initial visit? I went ahead and got a follow up visit and it turns out my eyes are just fine and three weeks later I got another bill (on top of my co-pay) and my insurance was billed yet again. I hate feeling the being ripped off... enough to write this lengthy post. If decide to go here and if you have insurance, please ask them get your consent if they plan on doing anything other than what you asked for. Otherwise, you're in for unnecessary exams, additional payments, and dealing with receptionist who doesn't understand the concept of consent. read more

They just lost two customers. Beware if you have insurance coverage. They will charge you even when your insurance has covered the cost already. I asked for a reimbursement today and was told that I have to wait a few weeks and will get a CHECK mailed to me instead even after I paid with a credit card. WOW!! WTH. I had NEVER had issues with any other eye doctor and NEVER had to pay upfront for something that was being covered. That being said, IF I had not caught the charge for the service, they would have made out like a bandit. Very dishonest even after they caught their own mistake. When I checked my insurance, it already says that the claim has been "PAID". Filing a dispute with the credit card. They would have been able to keep two customers if they fixed the problem immediately, but after all this, I am taking my business to a new location! read more

Dr. Arsenault was AWESOME. I was just there for a quick checkup and to see if my prescriptions (contact lenses and glasses) needed to be updated, and the entire staff from the office workers to the technicians were so professional, kind, and personable. Don't be weirded out that this office is in a Lenscrafters in the mall. The office is a totally separate entity, and they do not push you to use the Lenscrafters or anything. The office runs pretty efficiently, but they are also pretty busy. Sometimes i've been seen on time, had to wait other times. But, it's easy to get an appointment for the same day, which is really nice. While they see by appointment only, I've seen people walk in and get an appointment pretty soon. Those things out of the way, I loooove Dr. Arsenault. He's so calm, and caring, and thorough. He's much more thorough than ophthalmologists I've seen. He took his time to examine the health of my eyes, not just my vision. He took my dry eye issues seriously whereas I feel like other docs have blown it off. I also have terrible astigmatism, and he fit me for contacts better than anyone else has in the past. When I first saw him, he wasn't sure what contacts would be best since I need such strong ones, but he researched it and found me a great option. He took great pride in making sure I was satisfied. read more
