At the end of the exam, the doctor told me that she had "increased my prescription slightly." I used the prescription provided by the office to order new glasses online, but when they arrived, I could barely see through them. I compared the new prescription to my previous one and discovered that, despite being told it was increased, the new prescription was actually weaker! I called the office hoping to get some clarification or have the doctor review it. Instead, the receptionist was dismissive and argumentative. I was told the prescription was based on my responses during the exam and essentially that there was nothing wrong with it. She did not even offer to speak with the doctor. It had only been a little over a week since the appointment. At one point, I was even told that glasses don't necessarily need to be "crisp and clear" and that being slightly off is okay for some people. Seriously? I understand that prescriptions are based on patient responses during an exam, and I wasn't asking the office to reimburse me for glasses purchased elsewhere. I simply wanted someone to take seriously the fact that I was told my prescription had been increased when the written prescription actually decreased--and that I could not see properly with it. The lack of concern and customer service was extremely disappointing. I don't think wanting to see clearly and crisply through a new prescription is an unreasonable expectation.

I am not sure the name of the lady that was assisting us after the exam to choose the frames. Her customer service was awful and i would not go back to this practice. In this business it is all about customer service and the tone she was using was very demeaning and made us feel like we were there for FREE service. When i called 2 weeks later to request a copy of the prescription i was told that "they don't just give out copies like that". I also requested to have it mailed out to me and i was told "i will mail it when i can" This is an unacceptable way for an office staff to deal with a customer. I would not recommend using this practice unless they change their attitude towards people from other nationalities.

I was concerned about my deteriorating vision and went in for an eye exam and contact lens RX. Dr. Cui spent an hour making sure that everything was ok (they were, thankfully) and he even double checked with my insurance to see if they would pay for my exam when I already told him I was going to pay out of pocket since I already had reached the 1x/year limit my insurance covers. Btw, the other eye doctor I went to was in Dedham Medical in Norwood - and that previous appt lasted all of 15 minutes. From now on, I'm bringing my whole family to Dr. Cui . The exam with Dr Cohen as the most comprehensive exam I have been through since I went to the eye doctor at a fairly young age (8-10 years old). She was the first doctor to ever exam the inside of my eyelids (don't fret she simply flips them over and looks at them) and explain what she was looking for. Dr Cohen is sociable and fun -- chatting throughout the exam to keep things moving along. I love the ability to order contacts online and the prices are comparable to all of the other sites where you have to go through the bother of having the company verify your prescription with the doctor. I also like that she has what appears to be the best and newest technology. For example, she doesn't have to dilate pupils, she has the ability to do imaging (for a small additional cost because insurance won't cover it). I was willing to pay rather than spending my afternoon walking into walls and not being able to work because everything was fuzzy. My husband also went to see Dr Cohen and similar to another poster he also was tested for glaucoma because his imaging showed something off. It was explained to him and he opted for the additional testing. He felt that everything was explained and he understood what his options were for the issues presented. I used to go to the big chain stores and I felt ripped off after seeing what I could get for service with Dr Cohen.
