I was lucky to be placed with a sales associate named Lori, who was so incredibly patient with my indecisiveness about which frames to choose. I could kick myself for being proactive last year and getting my eye exam in march. I have coinsurance, so I flogged my husband in here early last year for 2 exams, 2 sets of glasses, 2 contact exams, and 2 six month supplies of contacts. No problem, I wear contacts for work a few days a week, not even six months out of the year. All covered. Dr. Grace was lovely and professional, the glasses and contacts fit. Four stars. Fast forward to today, I accidentally rip one of my last pair of new contacts. I'd rather wait until June to schedule my annual exam, since dh's coinsurance will be active then. I stop in the Pearle to buy a month's supply of disposables to tide me over to my next exam. I need a pair for work tomorrow, so I can wear specific safety glasses. So I was told by the sales clerk it would be ILLEGAL for me to buy disposible contacts, since my last exam was the third week of march, 2012. ILLEGAL. Like I'm trying to score meth in Kansas instead of contact lenses in a PEARLE VISION. ILLEGAL. I will not be back. I don't need the hassle of them trying to milk my insurance instead of supplying my vision needs. I had an exam in 2012, I'll have one in 2013 but it won't be here. *edit* added back a star, since i was contacted by one of the owners with an offer to correct the situation and an apology. i should have asked to speak to a manager, the situation might have resolved itself that evening. read more

Went to get frames repaired on my son's glasses. Refused to even try to repair them (hinge was disconnected) ... only solution was to buy a new pair of frames (I guess that is the business model). Then it turns out the frames are not in stock. Can't place an order on a Saturday, so it would need to wait until Monday... then at least 5 days for delivery. (meanwhile the kid has tape on his glasses and they're crooked). Final straw, asked them to call around to other Pearle stores to see if the frames are in stock at another location in Chicago area ... she refused to do that because "we're a franchise" ... meaning she didn't want to give up the business to another location. So I had to do the calling myself (thanks). Instead bought the frames for less on eyeglasses.com AND with 2 days shipping included (how come I can get it in two days but they can't get it until 5???). I only gave it 4 stars because I scheduled an appointment at 12:00 during my lunch hour. I got there 10 minutes early since you always have paperwork to fill out and still was not seen by the doctor at 12:45 with more people in front of me. They were able to schedule me for a later time, at 4:15 after work and I got in immediately. Otherwise they would have easily received 5 stars. One thing that bothers me about some vision care offices is that they cannot look up your insurance vision benefits easily. To be honest I did not remember what mine covered and had no time to check on it before going to my appointment/s. Since this office is 'Doing Business As Pearle Vision' they could not connect to the Pearle Vision I previous visited to check my records. The doctor was very friendly, very informative and made me feel comfortable. The staff is very friendly and SUPER helpful. One staff member I want to point out is Matthew Castorena. He went above and beyond to help me get the best price for the glasses I wanted. I almost turned them down and went to find a cheaper pair but he really worked hard to get be a price I could live with. Thanks Matt! You're AWESOME! read more

I've been going to Pearl for the past seven years and have never had anything but exceptional service. Lori is a true asset to the store. Her professionalism, service and taste is on point. I walked in a few weeks ago after not being there in over two years, and I was still remembered. Very rarely do you find an establishment like that. I really like this vision center. I've been coming here ever since I needed glasses. Some employees have been here since then too! I come here because of my eye doctor, Dr Blase. He is knowledgable, personable and sweet. I would recommend him to anyone. About 2-3 years ago they went through a removal. And boy it was needed! It looks so sharp and big. Avoid this place, there's lack of communication ALL the time. They tell you that you have coverage & when you get there after waiting to be seen they say you don't have coverage. It's a waste of time, it happened to me 3 times. Who ever answers their phone calls needs better training. It seems like their employees are not knowledgeable and some at very rude. I work in the medical field and definitely wouldn't treat patients like that. Also, if you make a complaint they will never get back at you or apologize. Please avoid this place. read more

I can't say enough about how positive my experience here was. I've never even written a review before but felt the need to write this.. I had an appointment at 6pm. I showed up about 20 minutes early and was seen right away. Dr.Blase was awesome and even sent me home with a free trial of a new contact solution to help with my dry eyes. The gentleman who was taking my payment was very nice and helpful with explaining my insurance coverage and moved very quickly during the checkout process. First. let me start off by saying that the exam itself performed by Dr. Blase was very professional and you can see he truly cares about his patients and his work. The front office was another thing. 1/2 hour past my appointment I asked what the problem was? I found out that they had not pulled my paperwork, then they told me I could have a seat and wait, when I told her I had another appointment after this and could not wait, they told me they could see me after filling out the paperwork they forgot at the beginning. After the exam they told me that they had to charge an extra fee for a special test that my insurance did not cover. I had never paid extra in all my years of eye exams. After seeing me irritated and telling them i would just pay them so that I could finish this whole visit and write a review, Grace quickly said she would talk to the manager to waive the fee. I have a feeling they are not used to people calling them out on it since 2 other workers started mumbling about what was going on. Sadly, I wont be back here again because of the front office service even though I really appreciated the care and expertise of the Doctor. A month after my visit I still received the $30 bill that my insurance would not cover because they considered it an extra test. Now I have to waste more time because they did not remove the fee from last time. Because of this I will now downgrade to a 1 star! read more

Now given my previous review, I decided to not edit that one and actually place a different one that is relevant to the service and assistance received post exam by Lori. As stated, I've been coming here for years and yes the doctors have not been consistent but I have lucked out every year to work with Lori, may it be for contacts or glasses. I must admit I have come to trust her input!! I always go in, prior my exam pick out 2 maybe 3 frames at most and by the time I sit down with her I know what I like and ask for her advise on which "looks better?" Lori hasn't steered me wrong yet as my new pair of glasses have received more compliments than I LOL! Lori is attentive and has quite the knack at identifying my tastes (and I venture to say others as well, as I actually asked for her this last visit, I mean after waiting almost the hour for the exam, least I could do was wait a bit longer for the person I trust.) Lori also makes sure to provide the options available for the frame, lenses, etc and will only steer you if asked to. Never pushy with the options one should select, yet letting you know the pros and cons of each. If you haven't worked with her, take the time to wait for her on your next visit. Dr. Lang was very thorough, professional and reassuring. I've been to this office before, and the medical staff has always been very good. Usually the hardest part is finding new frames; but this time I worked with Lori, who was wonderful. Once I chose the frames, she made all of the measurements and adjustments, and when they were delivered made sure everything was as it was supposed to be. Super happy with the service I received from Lori there at Pearle Vision. I have a pair of rimless glasses that I accidentally sat on and broke them. The place I purchased them from wouldn't honor the warranty since the discontinued selling rimless frames. I purchased replacement frames/pieces to repair them. I had stopped at numerous other places hoping to get my glasses fixed, but because I hadn't purchased originally from them, no one was willing to help. I stopped in at Pearle in hopes they could help since they have an on site lab. Lori stepped up to the plate with a smile and assured me they'd try their best to help me out. Left my glasses and parts and received a call no more than 30 minutes later saying they were ready. WOW! Went to pick them up and they provided the service complimentary. The customer service I received at this Pearle Vision from Lori was absolutely above and beyond!! Due to oversight on my part, I had forgotten to pick up a pair of trial contact lenses they had ordered or me in June of 2018. I suddenly remembered them as I was out of contacts, and tried to pick them up. Unfortunately, the brand they had ordered a trial for was no longer available. I was upset because I was previously without insurance, so had paid out of pocket for the exams and glasses last year. I did understand that I needed a new exam so they could fit me with a contact brand that was still available, but still very upset that I felt like I had wasted my money the year before (I know it's my own fault, but being unemployed can make you ONLY focus on finding a job and forgetting everything else). In short, Lori knew I was upset and did EVERYTHING she could to help with my situation. She offered a discounted exam for new contacts, and even informed me of their price match on some contact brands. I now am employed and have insurance, and with the insurance coupled with Lori providing some price matching, I was able to get new contacts plus prescription sunglasses which I've never been able to afford before! I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK LORI FOR HER AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE AND UNDERSTANDING WITH A CUSTOMER'S SITUATION TO PROVIDE WHATEVER HELP IS AVAILABLE! My 12:30 appointment had me sitting in the wait area for 20 minutes (just left a few seconds ago) before I went up to ask what the deal was. My glasses were broken and when I initially brought them in to be fixed, I was told they're beyond repair. Some time later, I entered this Pearle Vision and told the optician "I know that these glasses are unfix-able, please help me find a new frame so I can reuse the lenses." Imagine my surprise when Sandy, the optician, looks at me and says that these can be fixed. Lo and behold, less than 10 minutes later I walked out with my glasses, good as new again. Even though it might have been more profitable for the store to sell me a new frame, especially when I walked in with the intent of buying one, Sandy prioritized the satisfaction of a past and potential future customer. I am short of impossible to deal with, but Sandy R did a great job in dealing with me. She was well versed on what she does at this location, took care of me in a very short period of time, and did it all professionally. She took into consideration that time is of the essence for me, and had everything done in an hour - frame and progressive lenses. I had an issue with the lenses once they were made. NOT THE FAULT OF THE STORE, it was me. Sandy had the lenses replaced with what was thought of being better lenses. Instead they were worse. Again, NOT THE STORES FAULT. My vision is rather tricky. Sandy accommodated me with all the differences my vision posed. Not one single complaint from her. Carried herself in a manner that reflected a sense of being more than happy to do it. I will say that one girl there had a less than pleasant demeanor on the phone one day when I called, but everyone else is very kind and professional. I have been going to this place for a few years now. This is a very busy location, but the customer service is excellent and staff are all friendly and helpful. I especially like Lori who has helped both me and my teenager son to pick out glasses over the years. Lori is patient and provides honest, direct service. When my son almost gave up on finding a pair of glasses, she searched the back for several more frames and found a pair he liked. She has a very good eye and takes her job very seriously which is rare this day and age. Eye exams are reasonably-priced, and the selection of frames is good. Dr. Blade is personable and professional. I have tried Costco for cheaper glasses and boutiques for more expensive glasses in the past, but this is my go-to place for no-nonsense and professional service. read more

Went in there on a Saturday morning (I knew it would be packed), the ladies working the front counter have no idea what they are doing and are extremely rude to each other; to the point it made me feel uncomfortable. At the end of my visit, one of the women signed off on the Dr. Prescription IN FRONT of me! Now Dr. Greenburg, I've never felt like such a bother to a doctor before. He was getting upset with me because I couldn't see somethings during the vision exam... Uhh hello? Isn't that why I'm here? Lori was wonderful!!! My son broke his glasses was wearing tape on them to keep them together. I felt horrible. So while he was at school. I ran around collecting information to try and him a pair of glasses same day. I tried lenscrafters first but the pricing was too expensive I walked into Pearle Vision and Lori proceeded to help me. Went in with my frames & asked for a price for transitions & crizals since I don't have vision insurance. They gave a price that I thought was fair. Made an appt. (had to wait several days). Have been getting my glasses here for the past few years and love the fact that your glasses are ready in an hour. The only reason I'm only giving them 4 stars is because I recently brought in some old frames to have my new lenses added to them and while trying to add them they broke my frames and took 2 weeks to resolve the issue. Initially they said they were not liable for my frame even though they broke them. But after a conversation with the manager she agreed to give me the value of the old frames I had purchased there the year prior plus a a percentage off and I just paid the difference to get the ones that were the most similar. So even though it was an annoying situation they rectified it accordingly so with that in mind, I'll definitely be back. read more
