Melanie was amazing. We normally go to my eye dr but when I was told they could not do my glasses and would have to send them to a specialist my insurance wouldn't cover it. I went to Pearl Vision with my prescription and they did it in house and my insurance covered it . We got our glasses in 7 days and they were 211 when at the other they wanted 275 before the glass issue. read more

Go to any other location. This location is way over priced because according to one of the employees they are franchised. Initially the experience was good. One of the employees and the doctor were nice. Then there was the employee who was supposed to help me order my lenses, who from the start was acting like he was a sales man. He was so arrogant and wanted me to forcibly order the most expensive lenses, which were about $450 and not including the eye exams. When I told him to explain and offer other options to me, he flat out said no. He said that I was going to get what I needed and not what I wanted to get. I'm not sure if these employees work on a commission or if this man just acts like he runs the place. Since I had previously been to a different location, I knew that my insurance covered a lot more than what the employee wanted to charge me. When I went to the location I usually go to, the woman told me I had been over charged $75 on eye exams and that doctor was not even able to tell me what one of the charges on the receipt was. I ended up ordering my lenses at the Oakbrook Terrace location and paying $150 for the exact same lenses the "salesman" was forcing me to get. I never write long dreadful reviews but I hope this one helps someone save $300 and avoid a terrible experience! read more

I felt like I was in a car dealership. First employee tried to upsell me to "HD lenses", which is fine, but I told her no, I just wanted the basic lenses covered by EyeMed. She quotes me a reasonable price and starts to work on the order. Then "Sultan" comes over and starts having her recode everything to the premium lenses which are only covered at 20% and tries to sell me on the "19 layers of protection" and starts talking to me like I am a child about scratches and whatnot. (Not surprising since I'd already heard him lecture two people while I was there about how they need to take their glasses off with two hands.) So I walked out. I'm figuring that this location exists to teach people the virtue of patience, because all you do is wait. Wait for the doctor. Wait for a floor associate. My wife had to wait 6 weeks for her glasses to be made. As I write this, I am sitting here...you guessed it, waiting. We arrived 10 minutes early and are now 20 minutes late. On top of that, we found out that a walk-in was taken despite this location apparently being over booked. If you're nice but your service is still poor, you'll end up being nice and out of work. read more

When in for an eye exam due to pain in my eye and puffiness underneath my eyes. The doctor asked if I was taking flax seed and Omega3 as previously suggested by his colleague. Was in the Vitamin Shoppe or the eye doctor. After realizing this discussion was a waste of time as he refused to prescribe and suggest treatment. I asked have an eye image test performed to view my retina and overall eye health. I had been previously diagnosed with small cataracts in both eyes the doctor told me that cataracts do not show up on the eye image screening when I challenge him he became irate and to me he was offended. I had a eye appointment today, and my experience with Adeel was very professional. When I first arrived, he was helping another customer, but did acknowledge me and said the Dr, was finishing up lunch and to take a look at some frames. My experience with Dr. Barry is always good, but most times when people are short staff, the staff is not pleasant, this was not the case with Adeel. His professional and expertise was above and beyond what I had expected, very patient and courteous to me and the other guests that were waiting. 7 months after this episode, I received a threatening bill in the mail demanding almost $100 more money ("You must be paid in 30 days or will be sent to the Collections department & legal Department for this delinquent"). I went right over there and had to argue with them for about 30 minutes: Apparently they tried billing me again for 4 boxes of contacts when I had only ordered 2 from them and had paid back in March (and am sorry I ever did), but finally after I went line-by-line and explained that the charges, descriptions, and dates didn't add up, the district manager who was there had them look in the system and conceded that I was in fact correct, and apologized for wasting my time after I made them print the statement indicating there was no balance due. Interestingly enough, the date listed for this new charge was a couple days after I ordered additional contact lenses from another vendor, and I highly suspect there is a correlation. It is important to note that I had not been to Pearle Vision since the March incident. Needless to say, I am never going to these extortionists again. I'm just glad they finally admitted to their wrongdoing so I didn't have to involve the Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau. read more

Went there to simply get a pair of fashion glasses and had a great and affordable experience. They have glasses for every budget! I was looking for the last expensive pair, but still fashionable. The gentleman that assisted me found the right ones for me, and he didn't make me feel uncomfortable for being so cheap. Lol. I went to pick up my glasses a couple days later and was greeted with a huge smile by him and a lady. The lady assisted me and made sure that the glasses fit my face perfectly. We made a appointment for my son (Dylan) for a regular eye exam and to get new glasses. While looking for glasses, we met and started talking to the Manager (Alex). He was so helpful, and made a instant connection with our son. He stayed with us through the whole process, and made us feel like we were very important customers!! Holy price gouging, batman! Asked for a quote for a pair of Oakley sunglasses and they said the frames were $269. (Buying them directly from Oakley would cost $110). I inquired about the high markup and was told that Oakley sets the pricing. They are charging more than double what is standard for Oakley. I'm really sad that this is my one local retailer that takes my insurance and carries the Oakley brand. Its more cost effective to order through Oakley directly and pay for everything out of pocket than use vision insurance at Pearle Vision. read more

I rarely write reviews and I am actually going out of my way to review this company. After reading all the bad reviews I could not believe how different of a experience I had. They were all great especially Dr. Barry, Glenn, and the owner Rory. To start the owner is so nice. I am a veteran and not many vision places give a military discount. They offer a military discount on eye exams and I believe it was 20%. That's just amazing! Next I had found the contacts I was prescribe for a cheaper price and the owner Rory price matched them. He even offered to price match any frame as well! They are not picky about where the price match is as long as it is not a sketchy company. Glenn pulled up the website in the store and showed Rory and without a hesitation he matched the price. I seriously do not have one bad thing to say. There was also a really nice young women that worked there that was extremely friendly as well. Rory also has a pretty cool collection of eyeglasses that are from famous people on his wall inside the store. Went in June 30, 2018 just with some questions as was immediately helped by Chris, he was not even working, he answered all my questions and scheduled an appointment for my husband on July 1, 2018. We were 14 minutes late for the appointment and were told that they could not accommodate us. I understand. We tried to make another appointment but nothing fit our schedule. I asked if they had any other appointments the same day and they said no. We left. I checked on line and there were 5 appointments available for what we needed. I questioned the health and safety of the staff. They were not checking temperatures for anyone that came in. The doctors office , dentist , and most all health care providers are checking temperatures. I received a promotion credit in the amount of $25.00 for each person toward glasses or contacts. I had 3 promo cards with me when we spent over a $1,000 dollars for exams, frames, glasses and contacts. I forgot to give them the promo cards. When we went in to pick up our glasses, frames and contacts. I presented the office manager the 3 promo credits totaling $75.00. She refused to accept them and credit my balance. She said they would credit the account for the next visit next year. We are not going back taking our business to Vision Works. Why send promos discounts if they wont honor them. Enjoy the $75.00 dollars , you lost $1,000's for the next few years. Not going back unless they honor the promo credit they sent to my house this year toward our purchase price. They could have asked if we had any promo's or credits they recently sent out. I think the credits are a sham to get you in the door. read more

HORRIBLE. Made our appointment over phone and was told that we would have to come in 30min early for paperwork. Once inside the paperwork they were talking about was The First time patient form when we actually have had been going there for 3 years out of pure laziness to find a different vision place. Even with the 30 min extra time they had us sitting there an extra 50min after our appointment time. Total 1.5hr of waiting looking at no options for frames. Every time i have gone the wait was longer than an hour. When i mentioned i wouldn't be buying glasses with them BC of the little selection they would send different people over to try and change our mind. Now to the ACTUAL appointment with Dr Berry. I took my mom BC she had a little lump of skin forming in the corner of her eye so we were worried. She has been in this country for over 45yrs out of her 53years of life. His comment for the that lump of skin is "its normal for someone from that region in South America to grow that from being in the sun so much". When updating him on her years in this country he said "huh I'm really not sure then , idk". So he was really just saying whatever which was not comforting at all. Now we have to go to a specialist who knows what they're actually talking about. FINALLY payment time. They tried making us use our health insurance instead of vision insurance BC she is diabetic. That copay is much higher BC they consider themselves "a specialist". Never had this problem before and NEVER going back. Went to this Pearle vision because they carry Oakley and i need ANSI rated sunglass lens for work. No insurance for Oakley so waited till they had their buy one complete pair get one complete pair free so i could get a pair of normal glasses. Found out that deal is complete BS and they have a max dollar amount one the free pair but could show me where it was listed on paper anywhere??? When i was told the max amount they told me 2 different amounts??? They also took much longer than the quoted range of days to have both pairs ready. read more

We took the prescription to Pearle and they told us that they wouldn't accept his new prescription and that we had to pay for the contact exam AND a complete new regular exam! Nina was so helpful and easy to talk to, she helped me figure out my insurance options, she was kind and has a great personality. The owner Rory was an amazing guy to talk to. He let me know what glasses would work best with my face. He also laughed at my stupid jokes. Then Glenn helped us check out and let us know what would be best to get with our lenses. I had a great experience at this Pearle Vision. I will 100% come back to purchase future lenses and frames. IiThis was the most horrible eye glass place I've ever been to. They were all about money. My sister too her daughter there for the special exam 59 dollars they told her she needed all this extra stuff. Then with the made up some story why they couldn't glasses the second pair is not free it would of been 200 more dollars. Then she said I'll get one pair. Told her they recommended these frames for children under 18. Which were 200 dollars. She said well I just want regular glass frames they repeatedly kept saying we recommend these we recommend these by the time she walked out of there she paid $600 for glasses for a 16 year old. Well needless to say I called and got it refunded. For children under 18 they do not need $200 frames. So we picked up the prescription they refuse to give us her PD. Just the most horrible place. One more thing they said your PD is used for frames. Lie and said it changes lie. I asked three eye doctors and it doesn't change. What a rip off place. Don't go there. read more

I had an amazing experience with Pearle Vision Bolingbrook, as I always have. Dr. Berry was great as he has been for years. The whole staff was very nice and helpful, I believe one guy's name was Alex, but the really amazing part of the visit was Cristina...not only did she walk me through getting the most value out of my insurance, but she provided that crucial final decision on what frames I should choose when I narrowed down my selection to a final pair. I had been given dilating eyedrops and was pretty disoriented, but she was patient and friendly and I can't say enough positives about my experience and final impression, but I will...you should definitely see these fine people when you need to get your eyes checked and need eyeglasses and/or contact lenses...and be sure to ask for Cristina! She even mailed me my receipt after my bill was finalized, and I received my contact lenses very quickly, only a couple days. I haven't picked up my glasses as of yet, but I'm sure I'll be very pleased when I do. I've been going here for years, and this is my best experience yet. read more

Terrible experience!!!I went in there to get new frames and I specifically told them I did not wear contacts the staff kept telling me I should just get them in case I wanted to switch things up I did end up buying the 3 months supplies for all total seemed too much I asked the guy that was helping me if I could get a itemized receipt since my employee pays for my frames and he said no it was just one receipt. My total was over $400 I was told the contacts would get there in about a week they called me for my frames and told me my contacts where on there way and it's been 2 months now and I have still not received my contacts! I tried to call several times but I keep being told that they would call me back the same day since they were busy and I never got a call. We went to pearle at the end of December, 2014 to get my husband glasses. Alex helped us. He was very good and was very informative about the lenses and glasses. The glasses were not exactly right so alex suggested he see Dr. Berrry. Dr. Berry was very thorough and took time with my husband at the exam. They remade the glasses. Once they were in we returned to pick them up. After about a week, my husband was still not seeing well. Dr. Berry rechecked his eyes for free and the lenses were remade. We picked them up today and so far my husband seems to be seeing very well with the new lenses. Alex and Dr. Berry were very professional and very helpful! read more
