Went in to for my yearly check up and to order contacts I usually go with Dr.kuhar but this time I went with the other doctor he was testing my prescription I kept telling him I couldn't see so he just gave up and he never got it to where can see so when I got my contacts it was the wrong prescription I had to go back again with Drkuhar this time and he took his time and got my right prescription he ordered me my trials and when I called back to order my yearly contacts with the right prescription they were trying to charge me again $600 to order these new contacts even though I had already paid last time when they messed up and gave me to wrong prescription I had spoke with Margaret and she was rude and not helpful at all I was explaining to her the situation and she just said it was weird and seem like she didn't want to order me the right prescription she was telling me only one of my prescription had changed but no it was both I'm not sure if these people are not communicating with each other or writing notes but this is very unprofessional she kept saying she would have to talk to her supervisor so I asked her if she can ask her and she said she wasn't in so I asked when would she be in so you can ask her because this is something I need to know as someone who is -11 with stigmatism I need to be able to see and she said she couldn't tell me and thats it she could've been more useful and put me on hold and ask someone else that maybe would've known but no she didn't seem too interested in helping when they are the ones who messed up. When I told Drkuhar about it he said we would just need to return my old prescription and they would order me the new prescription I don't see why they would make me pay twice or not put in more effort to fix the problem they caused if the first Dr would've just took his time and listen but since they already took my money the last time they probably don't care to help me actually see. I have been going to Dr. Kuhar for several years now, and have been very pleased. When I wore contacts, the doctor made efforts to make sure that I had a brand that suited me well. When I had to switch to glasses, the glasses were always well made and perfectly crafted to accommodate my stigmatism. A couple of years back, due to an insurance issue, I went to a bargain optician service and the glasses were never made properly, although I returned over 3 times. I was able to eventually change insurance and return to Kuhar and have had not problems since. They are very good about helping out with any necessary adjustments or repairs when possible. I had made an appointment for my annual eye exam- a few months late, and mostly because I'd lost my glasses. Gina was friendly, patient and helpful while I reviewed my life when making the appointment. The morning of my appointment, a family medical emergency had happened and Dr. Valgara and Amanda were fantastic! I had decided to order the same frames as the pair I lost and another pair of sunglasses and Amanda was the calming support I needed that morning. She was fantastic and just a truly caring person. Every time I've spoken to her since, she has asked about my great niece and appreciated the pictures today when I picked up my glasses. Thoughtful, helpful and knowledgeable! I absolutely love Kuhar Vision! I would not go anywhere else. I love the thorough time taken during exams and the helpful, knowledgeable staff for choosing and fitting glasses. Receptionist was not wearing her covid mask correctly. I had to ask TWICE for her to cover her totally-exposed nose. Then, encountered a customer roaming the lobby looking at frames, without any mask on whatsoever. And none of the employees seemed to care. How unsafe! I would recommend this facility only to those who want to catch covid-19. I left without buying eyeglasses, letting one employee know the reason why. read more

I have never had a problem getting an appointment and my glasses did not take any longer then usual. I have a large family and we all needed our yearly checkup. They would only schedule 2 of us at a time, so suggested we make multiple appointments. What busy family has enough spare time to make 3 different appoints spanding over 3 weeks???? We called another Dr and they scheduled all of us for the next day. We'd prefer the family man who's office is 2 minutes from our house, but if they're going to make things that tough for us, I'll drive the extra 25 minutes.. We have crazy good insurance too. Good doctor - terrible service! It's been over a month and I still don't have my glasses. They blame my insurance but I've ordered glasses from another vision center before with the same insurance and got the glasses in a couple days. The doctor did a great job with the eye exam but his support staff is amateur at best with little understanding of how to inform patients about what to expect with new glasses. The selection of frames is also very limited. I will never go there again. read more

I've been going to Dr. Kuhar's office from before they had the nice office building and had a small office next to Dominick's. This includes me personally wearing a combo of glasses, contacts, and getting care after having Lasik and PRK touch-up (at another place). They have treated a fairly bad eye infection I had where I didn't wear contacts for months because of it, and pointed out my youngest sons allergies when even his primary care physician never made any mention of it. There are at least 2 eye doctors there now, I can't remember the other guys name, but the explanations of processes were great, and honest information even if it's not what I wanted to hear. If curious I'm talking about results after Lasik which ended up with me getting a PRK touch up. I dropped one star after I called today to make an appointment, and like others have said, they have a weird "only 2 people at a time" policy. We have 4 in my family, I don't want to make appointments on different days. The lady said it was "office policy" which is just weird. But my first eye doctor when we moved out here was terrible so, I'm not willing to change over that. read more

Great doc, but dont order glasses from them. They use the same frames hhat everyone tries on for your glasses. I got Coach frames, and was disappointed that my glasses were scratched frames for $500+. Contacts are higher priced, but have to use insurance. read more

He addressed all my concerns and we figured out that the previous prescription I received from pearl vision was too strong. The Doctor was great, however the blonde front desk lady was not only rude but I felt bullied by her. When I asked basic questions about purchasing glasses as well as contacts, she acted put out by the questions, rolled her eyes mutiple times in between heavy sighs and when I stated that she appeared upset by my questions, she dismissed me by stating she was done with me. Never been treated so poorly. Will never go back. She needs customer service training and an attitude adjustment. A shame she is so incompetent, the Doc was great! read more

I have been going to Kuhar Vision Care for many years. Dr. Kuhar is very easy to talk to and addresses any concerns I may have. My daughter's see Dr. Kuhar as well and they really like him. He speaks directly to them and they like that. The support staff is very nice as well. I brought the whole family in to look at glasses and we were taken care of for each of our individual needs. (Glasses, sports goggles and sunglasses). Our glasses arrive very quickly and have never had a problem after taking them home. Dr. Kuhar assisted me through the process of having LASIK a few years ago and couldn't be happier. As another reviewer stated, they do not let you make more than 2 consecutive appointments in one day. Although slightly inconvenient, I totally understand why. If you cancel a family of 4, that would leave a large block of time open (2 hours?) and would not benefit a busy practice when others could have filled that time. Went in for an eye exam and ordered my contacts that same day. I received my contacts (I had to call to see if they were in because I never got a call ) three weeks later. Tried them on, they were terrible. Went back for another checkup and this time I brought my old prescription from my previous Doctor that seemed to be working just fine. They kindly fixed what they needed to fix and exchanged my old prescription for my updated one. It's been three weeks, no call regarding my new order. So I called and they said that I should have received a call. This place is down the street from my house, I switched doctors because this one was much closer but now I'm willing to commute to Morris so I can get an accurate prescription in a timely manner. read more

I agree with another reviewer...good doctor, terrible service. I made made appt for Monday, first day of vacation. As I was about to leave the house for the appt., I got a call confirming a Tuesday Appt. Screwed up my plans for the week. Next, after 2 weeks, the glasses finally came in...wrong frames, and I was informed that I was undercharged, and owed more for the lenses. Paid the balance, and sent glasses back for the right frame. 2 weeks later, I called, and was told the glasses had come in but were sent back due to some irregularity. $400 and this is the service you will get. I cancelled everything, got my prescription, and went to Walmart. I must say, they were polite and did not give me an issue when I cancelled. Dr kuhar is great, wonderfully thorough exam, but the office girls and service is very poor. I got very similar frames, better lens quality, and only a 10 day wait for my glasses. I may consider going back in the future for an exam, but I will immediately take my script elsewhere. read more

Went in to have an eye exam during the afternoon and I did not see the optometrist for an hour after my scheduled appointment. During the exam was told I have perfect vision except...you need reading glasses. When I went to try-on glasses, the glasses I chose ended up totaling (insurance deducted) over $750! When I asked to reduce some of the 'top of the line upgrades' that I would not really need because they were reading glasses, the woman who helped me was put off and was swaying me to purchase the $700 glasses even though she could reduce to $550. I walked out without the glasses and went to Costco. There I found the SAME FRAMES (Tiffany and Co.); but, when I phoned for my prescription to be faxed, the woman was extremely rude and that was the first time I phoned. The second time was when Costco did not have the fax 2 hours later when I was told it was going to be done in the next 10 minutes; this time when I phoned I was hung up on (I was EXTREMELY nice. You get more with honey adage...), then phoned back immediately and the phone was answered by another receptionist. She reassured me that the prescription would be faxed in 15 minutes. After waiting another hour and a half at Costco, one of the women helping me called. Kuhar decided to fax something over, but it was the insurance paperwork. Same woman from Costco phone again saying it was the fax was incorrect paperwork and they DENIED it! We waited another 15 minutes for the correct fax. When looking at the prescription, it was written incorrectly. Kuhar forgot to change the incorrect prescription typo by the optometrist. It's a beautiful office, but underneath this office is a mess and people are mean. read more
