Scheduling knocks off a star. I tried to schedule a Kindergarten visit for my 4 year old the summer before Kindergarten. It wasn't until the day of the appointment, they called to tell me they could not take him until he was 5 years old. I have to give this compliment right now following my call with an exceptional staff member at the For Eyes Bolingbrook location on Weber Road. His name is Eder. I was calling to figure out my best options for re-ordering my eyeglass frames and lenses with updated prescription from a recent eye exam. He took the time to be sure we had the right prescription, found the right frames to reorder, figured out insurance, pricing/discounts, and answered every question I threw at him. While I did not intend to take up so much of his time as I'm sure there were also customers in store, I never felt rushed off the call. He was the most knowledgeable, friendly, informative, thorough, and understanding person I have ever encountered on a service call. For better or worse, being a type A with high expectations, I do not frequently make recommendations or give compliments unless they are truly warranted. I cannot say enough about the exceptional care Eder put into our call. Also, given the reasons I needed to get this order figured out and placed today, which I didn't even share with him, I want to sincerely thank Eder for his time today. I also want to express how fortunate For Eyes is to have Eder representing the company - congrats on an amazing hire! Worst experience ever, been loyal customer for years , Today was a last time I went there. Egar totally ignored customer requests, but found that out after picking them up. So we did the exam and the glasses. They did not work out, went back to fix it, asked questions could not even answer, changed his answer twice like his s.... Don't stink, i kept asking he kept going around and couldn't answer kept telling me that I have to upgrade and if I would have done the different lens etc.... then we would not had that problem. I told him what we want at the time, he did not mention nothing I asked that why he didn't said anything at that time he couldn't answer. I lost my temper i raised my voice and swear this is BS he called someone and started threatening us that he will call Police. so I got louder and said I am not leaving until I get a refund. You go to eye place to do glasses you are relying on "professional " to help you with your glasses needs. very unprofessional very incompetent employee. Will never go back and do not recommend this store. Save your time your energy go somewhere else. read more

Was skeptical to come here at first based on reading some of the reviews but told myself I'd give them a chance and not base it off of reviews they received years ago. I came in for an eye exam for contacts and glasses. Everyone was super nice and helpful. The service and experience were great and they helped me with everything I needed. My glasses arrived within a week! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing an exam or contacts/glasses. Will be back! read more

I went there for an eye exam recently but had to order the glasses at a different optical store due to insurance reasons. Once I recieved the glasses from the different optical store I was not able to see well. I was suggested by the optical store to go back to the doctor at For Eyes and have them recheck the new prescription. According to the optical store the new prescription showed significant improvement in my eyesight, which did not seem right as I was having difficulty seeing though the new glasses. I made an appointment with the doctor for the prescription recheck and when I went there I was told doctor does not want to recheck my prescription and I was told the the glasses I got from the optical store are not made correctly and also give it few more days for my eyes to adjust to the new prescription. Doctor refused to recheck even after my second request. Which did not seem right. After waiting another few days (while using new glasses) and multiple headaches later I went back to the optical store, paid them for a new eye exam and it turend out the prescription from the doctor at For Eyes was wrong. If the staff and the doctor would have retested me they would have caught their error. I was refused the service and the courtesy at For Eyes. I feel like this was a very bad experience and they dont own up to their errors. I will not recommend them. read more

Horrible sales representatives. We had to call every week for a month to get an update on our daughters glasses that we ordered. Then we go to pick them up at 5:30 on a Monday. And they are closed already!!! Online and on their door states: 6pm for sales. So now we have to wait again to get glasses. We will not be returning to this place! So sad the sales people are driving customers away because the doctor their was great! read more

My mother and I settled on this place when shopping for our new glasses. They had a good selection of styles to choose from (as opposed to another place we checked out, which seemed to deal exclusively in rectangular hipster-style frames!) All the people who helped us in the choosing of the frames, the exam, and the checkout were nice and helpful and made comprehensive itemized receipts to turn in for insurance purposes!. Dr. Grimwood did a good job of explaining things (for example, my eyes actually improved, something that was new to me, so she made that understandable). The one thing that seemed kind of weird was that they had no selection of frames that came with clip-on sunglasses. There was one style available with this feature (and it was pretty ugly). They did sell after-market clipons where you find the shape that best fits your frame and match them; my frames are a sort of modern cats-eye so there was no way any would work with them, so I ended up getting separate sunglasses, but my mother went this route...and is already bitching about them, since she's used to the matched pair (these naturally don't fit perfectly). I don't know if they don't make frames with clipons as widely anymore (you used to see quite a few) or if this is just a way to sell extra sets of sunglasses (I got mine for $29.99 as a second set, plus the lenses etc.), but it just seemed strange to me. Overall, though, service and selection were superior to other places we checked out in the area. For Eyes wins the prize. read more

They keep changing hands and policy. Tried to buy glasses from them with last year's prescription which I've done for yeas and they said the law requires an exam. However, if you go onto their website you can plug in your numbers without a hassle. That said, they do have fair deals on their plastic. read more

I have used this For Eyes for many years with many staff turnovers and different levels of service. My wife got glasses in January and was very pleased with her sales associate, Kim. So today I called and was pleased that Kim answered the call. I went in with my new eye prescription and Kim took great care of me. If you compare prices for the same product with other providers you won't find much different so service becomes a deciding factor and Kim is the best! read more

Be aware that the store has a new manager. I had a nice talk with her and she admitted that the previous manager was not very good. The new manager was friendly, professional, and patient with me. I had just gotten a new prescription from my opthalmologist so I didn't need their optometrist service. I tried on several pairs of frames and because of their specials, ordered both regular and prescription sun glasses. For Eyes is not cheap but they carry good quality merchandise; in other words, you get what you pay for here. All in all I was very happy with my service here and would return. read more

Be aware! If you're going to visit the store and expect to be there for a while during your exam, fitting for contacts glasses, etc....they don't have a bathroom for customers and will ask you to visit the establishment next door or in the surrounding area. During a long appointment for 2 of my kids, I asked to use your restroom and was promptly told to exit and use the restroom at another store situated within the same shopping center. I was told that company policy prevented me (then later my son) from being allowed use of your EMPLOYEE-ONLY facilities. I was embarrassed, extremely shocked, and ultimately offended. How can a "medical" facility service customers and not have a bathroom. I am after all their customer and not a stranger off the street. I find the store policy is so hypocritical it becomes laughable. Essentially, you are telling your customers to leave your restroom-less store and violate an adjacent store's policies. It is general retail business practice to provide access to public restrooms for PAYING customers of that store. Your "policy" mandates your customers violate an adjacent store policy to satisfy your inadequacies. read more

After spending a long time getting examined and getting the glasses done, they came back totally wrong. Although I got a refund on the glasses, the doctor was very stubborn and refused to refund me for a service I didn't use. They play a game on you, where the doctor says I have nothing to do with the people making the glasses, and they say the same, so you get list between them and end up with nothing! I have heard bad recommendations about this place from reissues, but I went ahead with them because of coincidence of the location. Don't make the same mistake! read more

UPDATE: The manager called me after I posted my review. She told me Corporate had seen the review and told her to contact me. She said she "could give me the contacts at the price I had found if I would take down the yelp review." I instructed her that Yelp does not take kindly to businesses bribing customers to take reviews down and that she could offer me the contacts at the price-match price I had found and that I could still choose to update my review if I wanted but that she couldn't bribe me. She tried to back track saying she didn't say that... and once I said "you literally just used those words" she finally apologized saying that "wasn't what she meant". She then offered to give them to me at the price I had found from 3 competitors. She then said she couldn't run it though my insurance, and when I asked her why she asked if she could call me back. She called me back promptly to say that they aren't supposed to use price match and still run orders through insurance but they would do it for me just this once. I am upgrading my review from 1 star to 3 stars because I feel like Corporate took the right approach and everyone else at the store was great so I don't want the whole store to suffer from a 1-star review. However, the manager at this store could use some customer service training. When she called me back she was basically telling me I got her in trouble and she's only calling me because Corporate is making her. She was never outright rude on our calls but she was certainly less than friendly. I was floored with how she spoke to me on a call she was supposed to be trying to make it right with me. A note to Corporate - you need to put your price-match rules on your website so they are clear for all of your customers. This is an easy fix for you. ORIGINAL REVIEW: TERRIBLE customer service. After my exam, the associate told me that they price match any company and that all I had to do was do the research online, screen shot and print the best price and then come back and they will honor it when I buy my contacts. Well I just drove all the way back here with 3 different company's pricing and the store manager said that's not their policy. She said she was going to double check and got in the phone to ask someone - while waiting for someone to answer she looked at me and said "of course I'll honor it for you this time since that's what they told you but they shouldn't have told you that." She confirmed with the person on the phone that they only honor prices from Walgreens it Costco. She then told me she wouldn't honor it because the rep shouldn't have told me that and the pricing I brought in was too cheap. She offered me Walgreens price with was only $10 saved instead of what would have been almost $100. Forget it, I'll go elsewhere - I'm not going to give my business to a company who is either lying or going back on their word like this. It was shady and terrible customer service, especially after saying "I'll honor it for you this time" 2 minutes prior. It would have been cheaper to provide your customer/patient with good customer service. Now you're losing out on my exam/yearly contact orders forever, not to mention the business you may lose because of this bad review. Shame on you read more

This have to be the worst for eyes I have ever been too my family and I went here like a week ago and the manager of this location is by far the worst manager ever!!!! I believe her name is Meesha if I could give this location a negative 10 trust me I would. When we called the store the manager answered the phone and all you Hear is her talking rude to people in the store and then once I said hello she replied what did you say ? I got so mad I then hang the phone and didn't even want to schedule an appointment for myself or my family. My husband convince me to go up there anyway to look at the Frames and once I was looking at the frames all I could hear was yelling and being completely rude to her assistant manager. And she said something like why didn't you do this like I asked you to the other day to the girl that sits next to her. I felt so bad so I turn my head to look and see because I was so shocked to hear someone speak to another human in that way then the manager Meesha rolled her eyes at me and said what the hell she looking at under her breath talking to another employee. I'm not sure who is over this woman but she definitely can use some talking to! Because this and more things I seen at this location I will NEVER BE BACK OR PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE. I came to this vision center as it was in my insurance network. I will never go back. I brought three daughters in, 1 for contacts and two for glasses. The price for 1 pair of glasses originally was over $800 with insurance. I almost choked. Then they explained what I was getting, "the doctor recommends a higher lens for optimal vision", etc. I told them to give me the basic, classic everything and after two or three additional removals of extra that they tried to stick me with I paid $30 after insurance! My other daughter had to be fitted for contacts, I've worn contacts my whole life and never had that type of fee and the optometrist that is not in my network doesn't charge it. They told me contacts would be $550 for the year, I said I wanted only 3 months, they put order in for the whole year and had to redo it. Last daughter went in by herself, a 19 year old college student. I told before she went in they will try to upsell you, tell them no, just basic everything. Again, $220 after insurance and me having to call to make sure she wasn't getting upsold. Told again "doctor recommends....so if you don't want the optimal vision then we can do the plastic lens". So ludicrous that they take advantage of people like this. Will never go back. Horrible staff, horrible experience, worst kind of predatory selling. read more

He was very compassionate to my review. And very helpful to what I needed in the first place. I am receiving free of charge the contact's my son needed for his remaining time, before he leave's to the Marine's. He also called me on phone to apologize for my inconvenience. He made my day. After weeks of wearing my glasses with only a paper clip holding them together (thanks to my two year old) I saw this place in passing and figured I would stop in last minute to see if they could fix it for me. 30 mins before close and the two gentleman there were very polite and friendly upon me walking in. I was helped immediately and was even able to get my glasses fixed right in the moment. When I asked how much for the repair I was told "no charge" and was also given a complimentary case to protect my glasses (much appreciated when you have a toddler). I'm not a current customer there and I thought it was very generous to not be charged for anything, however it was their friendly and welcoming service that has me sold on coming here again! I'm due for an annual eye exam and probably need new frames as well. I will definitely be coming here to get that done, all because of the service I got tonight - and I don't even live close by. I called before I made an appointment to ask if they took my vision insurance they said yes so I proceed to make an eye exam appointment for contacts and glasses. I arrive for my appointment and was told that they do not take my insurance, so I asked how much my eye exam would cost. The lady told me 55 dollars. I said ok and had my exam. After my exam I was told that my total was $115 not the $55 I was quoted not even 20 mins ago because I had an exam for before glasses and contacts. Now my issue is they should doubled check my insurance before saying they took it, secondly the receptionist knew what my exam was for and should of said quoted me the right price instead of telling me what the price was for just a basic eye exam. Very unprofessional. Obviously the receptionist does not know what she is doing and needs to be retrained. read more

I have been going to this office for at least 15 yrs. Dr. Grimwood is wonderful and really is why I go there. I made the mistake of trying Lens Crafters on a promo and was disappointed with the product. Now recently went back to Dr Grimwood. While she is still great, I am finding that glasses are taking FOREVER to get in. Two weeks now and still waiting.... even asking them twice to rush my prescription. I will NOT buy glasses made in Taiwan and shipped by slow boat again... I will continue with Dr Grimwood, but hello Lens Crafters or some other vendor for glasses. This is HORRIBLE. If you pay and need the prescript, two weeks is way too long. read more
