If you are searching for a Makeup and Hair Stylist for your wedding - STOP and book Pearl Hair & Make-up Studio!! I posted a facebook post asking friends for referrals and 2 friends mentioned Pearl. I looked at pictures from the 2 people I knew who referred Pearl and instantly knew these people were good. One of the most stressful things on a wedding day is "will I like my hair and makeup". I was trying to save some money by not doing a trial run - and felt zero pressure to do so from Pearl - but was a bit nervous if my final result would end up the way I hoped. Well, I had nothing to worry about - both Maris (my makeup stylist) and Jeni Brady (my hair stylist) made me feel BEAUTIFUL on my Wedding Day. I could not have been happier! They came on site to our hotel and did my Bridesmaids and I hair and makeup and everyone was happy. I highly recommend these artists - thank you to you both for making me feel so great on my Wedding Day! read more

Andrea, you are a goddess! I made a last-minute haircut appointment while I was in town for work, and I honestly will make it a point to come back here next time I'm in town. Andrea did a great job with my cut, and offered a really helpful consultation before we got started. I was nervous to cut 4 inches off my hair, but she did an amazing job. And she was really friendly and offered a lot of suggestions for things to do while I was visiting Austin. The salon is clean and chic. It seems like they do a lot of wedding hair and makeup, and I can see why. It is a professional environment with high-class stylists. The prices were a little high, but since I only get my haircut a few times per year it's totally worth it to me, especially with the friendly and kind treatment I received. read more

I have used Andrea for both wedding hair and a regular haircut. Andrea did my (bride's) hair as well as my maid of honor's hair. She came to my house for both day of hair and bridal portraits. For the bridal trial run, I did go to the salon on E Cesar Chavez. I have nothing but positive things to say about Andrea and how she styled my hair. She was patient for the bridal trial run when I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted and amazingly talented. For the day of & bridal portrait sessions, she did an amazing job for both my sister and myself. Everyone raved about our hair and it lasted all day through the ceremony and the reception where I spent a good period of it on the dance floor. For the regular haircut, she did a great job in both the cut and blowout. She is a rockstar in everything she does. read more

I am so relieved that I found Jeni! I have been searching for the perfect person to do my hair/makeup for my wedding for two months, and I've finally found someone I am confident in. I went to Jeni last week to do a trial for my hair/makeup, and I absolutely loved it. She listened carefully to what I was looking for (which was not your typical prom updo), and I could tell as she got started that she was a true artist. I always thought that finding a hair/makeup person would be the easiest part of planning a wedding. It turned out to be the hardest, but thanks to Jeni, I'm confident I'll be feelin' good on the big day! read more

Andrea is the bomb! I've been seeing her for four years and have never had a bad hair cut. She's able to give me an expert cut that is low maintenance yet looks great. After four years of coming to her and just getting a cut, I finally took the leap to get balayage. I was so worried about it looking unnatural, but Andrea did an amazing job. It looked incredible and I received so many compliments. Go see her! read more

Shondi is great. I never get my hair cut bc I hate it. She made the process comfortable and discussed what I wanted and was realistic about what she could do. I'm going back when it's time for a trim. read more

I know Lizz from when she was in Houston and trust me when I tell you that you won't regret getting your hair dyed and/or cut with her! I like crazy colors for my dark brown hair and Lizz is conscientious and professional when it comes to all steps of the process. From talking with her, bleach, dye, cut, and style, Lizz wants you to love your hair and will help you make it happen! Lizz also did my and my husband's hair for our wedding and she did beautifully. She even helped me through the steps of rose gold highlights last year, wedding Brown hair, and crazy purple, pink, and blue balayage after the wedding! With a few pictures and suggestions, Lizz will help you make your hair dreams a reality, for fun or something more serious. She is a true expert and respects both the craft and the person. read more

Andrea is wonderful! Got my hair cut yesterday, and I love it! I trusted her judgement, she listened to what I said I wanted, and she did not disappoint! I can't recommend her highly enough!! read more

I've been going to Jen for about 6 or 7 months now, and she's great. She's one of those hair dressers who you can trust when you say "just do something fun and cute!" This, I have found, is a rarity, and should definitely be appreciated. On top of this, the shop is adorable and relaxing. It's not one of those salons with bumping music and tons of people running around, it's where you go when you want to have a nice conversation with an awesome hair stylist, get a great cut and color, and leave feeling refreshed. I'll be going there as long as Jen allows me to! read more

I am incredibly thankful to have discovered Pearl Hair & Makeup Studio, just in time for my courthouse elopement! Katie did my hair and it was EXACTLY what I wanted. I showed her a few pictures from Pinterest and she created the absolute perfect updo for my wedding day. Maris did my makeup and I cannot say enough about how tremendously talented she is! I plan to post a few photos when I receive them, but my makeup was truly flawless - all thanks to Maris! Both ladies were friendly, professional, and just all around lovely. Pearl has definitely become my forever Austin go-to for hair and makeup! read more

I visited with Maris Malone and Jen Hoover to do trial runs of hair and makeup in preparation for my wedding. They both did amazing jobs with very little direction on my part. I was not really sure what I wanted other than to look still like myself, but a bit better. Both artists nailed that. They took their time, were very professional, and make me look like a more polished and beautiful version of myself. I can't wait to work with them again on my wedding day. I know I will be so happy with the results (and so will my future husband). read more

Do you want flawless makeup that stays, still looks like you, and makes you look like the most beautiful version of yourself? Look no further than Maris at Pearl Beauty!!! I have been a bridesmaid in A LOT of weddings. A lot. And I've never been in one where every single girl LOVES their makeup. It's always too cakey, too "not me", too much. Every single one of my bridesmaids loved their look and felt so comfortable in their skin. I felt like a freaking rockstar all night, but most importantly I felt like myself. Maris is so lovely to be around and she is hands down the best makeup artist I've ever used. Just book her already!! read more

Bex is the best! I've been going to her for a few months now and not only is she super sweet, but she truly listens to what you want done to your hair, and she DELIVERS! She's very educated and is a master in her craft, in particular razor artistry. I'm Puerto Rican and have wavy/curly hair, and I had SUCH a hard time finding anyone in the area that can cut and style my hair the way I like it... until now. As far as the salon, it's located in East Austin in an area that's getting built up. Parking is on the street but I never have a hard time finding one, whether it's the weekday or weekend. The salon is very quaint and it only has a few stations so you really feel the personal experience there. I highly recommend this salon and stylist, Bex (www.beautybybex.com) to everyone! I'm so happy to have finally found someone that can make me look (and feel) like a celebrity :) read more

Shondi is amazing! She is really and artist with color and the cut is always inspired. I tell her what I want and she discusses it with me to develop a plan. There are no surprises. On top of the excellent cut & color she is really a pleasure to talk to. I highly recommend Shondi! read more

I've been going to Shondi for over three years now and she is still the best hair stylist around. Over the years, 7 or 8 of my close friends and coworkers started going to see her (I have one friend who flies in from Seattle a few times a year for a haircut and my mother has driven in from Dallas) based on my recommendation and everyone has been thoroughly satisfied. Simply put, Shondi is an artist, hair is her canvas, and color is her palette. She has my highest recomendation. read more

Although I never write reviews I have to write one this time. I went to Bex this morning with my hair needing some serious help. Just a few days earlier another stylist elsewhere had put highlights in my hair and they looked awful! So awful I wouldn't even wear my hair down all week long. Bex was so sweet and understanding, and actually listened to what I wanted my hair to look like. She not only fixed my awful hair color, but seriously made it look far better than I ever imagined it could. I am looking so forward to my next appointment when she doesn't have to fix anything and we get to try out some new color techniques. Thank you so much Bex for coming to my rescue!! read more

Let me tell you about Pearl Studio... First of all this little place is just adorable - almost as adorable as the owner, Jen. It has got that cool loft/industrial feel to it with the cement floors and exposed duct work. It feels very city, yet very warm and comfortable. It is right downtown so it is perfectly convenient for me and the parking is very close, quick and easy. It is also a short walk from Cenote, my new favorite eatery, so I usually head over there to get a bite and show off my new, perfectly blown do! Now, let me tell you about Jen... Jen is maybe one of the smartest people I know. I love to talk to her because I always learn something new and it is very easy to share with her. Important! - I HAVE to like talking to my stylist because I have long hair so I am always there for HOURS! Jen is always upbeat and positive, yet calm and meticulous. I always feel catered to and totally at the hands of a real artist, so I never really tell her what I want because I will probably just mess up a good thing. HOWEVER, I have seen some of the color transformations she has done and I can't begin to tell you about the knack that she has in determining what looks good on each individual. Very cool! The hours I spend at Pearl are always filled with intelligent conversation. Jen NEVER talks about herself too much or brings up topics like religion or politics - even when I try! To me that is a true professional! Maybe the coolest thing about Pearl Studio is that I can see how much Jen puts her heart into the growth and education of the girls who work alongside her. I can tell it is important to her that the clients get the same great service and expertise every time, so I would be completely comfortable seeing one of the other stylist there. There are several stylists at Pearl so I don't want to leave anyone out, but I have personally seen and heard, many times, really great things about the work that Andrea and Shondi do. So If I can't get in to see Jen, I know I will get a good cut and color at Pearl Studio no matter what. In closing, I should mention the makeup that Maris does because it is definitely noteworthy. Her wedding makeup is the talk of the town, but all her styles are perfection and can run from clean, pure and beautiful all the way to cool, sexy and edgy. A real multidimensional artist! These girls are the real deal, so I would tell you if you are looking for a new beauty professional you've found your place - Pearl! read more

Shondi is the best. I have been going to her for almost two years. I love that the salon is in East Austin. Shondi is professional and wants to make sure she gives you the style you want. I have never walked out of there where I have not gotten a compliment when walking to my car. Go see Shondi! read more

Been going to Shondi for eight years. I have very difficult to cut, thick and wavy hair. She does a great a job!

I found Jen Hoover on The Knot when I was looking for someone to do my make-up for my wedding. I went to do a trial for my make-up and after she did an amazing job with my trial, we started talking about my hair and how I wanted it lighter for my wedding. She threw out some fun ideas and I made an appointment with her about a month before my wedding. The color was amazing and what I thought would be very challenging turned out perfect! I loved it and was so happy on my wedding day. It was exactly what I wanted. My make-up also looked great. I have been going to Jen ever since and I am consistently pleased with my color and cut. read more

Nice, chill atmosphere and great stylists. Jen's always good at knowing what I want and making it happen.

i have seen christen for about a year and a half now, and followed her to Pearl Hair and Makeup Studio. she is an amazing stylist! she keeps ups with new trends and always has something fun for me to try, while also listening to my ideas. i am a super picky client, but christen gets it right everytime! i always get tons of compliments after going to see christen! she also was the only person i trusted to style my hair for my wedding, and i was not dissappointed with the georgeous updo she created for my special day! the salon is in an adorable house in the hyde park area and is decorated in a retro-style, and relaxed atmoshpere that everyone in austin is sure to love! read more

I'm a barbershop guy, love my fades. Becca is a true artist and has converted me to being a fancy salon guy, she's the best!

I had my hair done by Jeni today and I cannot tell you enough how happy I am about my hair. When I first moved to Texas in 03 I struggled to find someone to do my hair..it took me until 2011 to find Jeni and she is by far the best in Austin!!I have tried almost every salon in the Austin area and could not ever get the right color. Jeni is the first professional to not only deliver the best color but is enjoyable to work with! I cannot wait till my wedding when she will be doing my hair as well! I cannot say enough good things about her and the salon :-) read more

Shondi gives fantastic haircuts. They last forever (4-6 months with bang trims), and she does "do something cute and fun that my scooter helmet won't squash too much" and "I want more volume without any more layers" equally well. Completely reasonable pricing, too; pretty much the ideal situation. read more

Andrea was awesome doing my daughter's hair for her wedding. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Jen is awesome! I've been seeing her for over a year now, and I just had her give me a completely new look. I had been growing my hair out for years, and decided to let her chop it all off. She did an amazing job with it, as usual. You can tell she genuinely enjoys making people look and feel better. I can't imagine letting anyone else touch my hair now read more

Used Pearl to book my hair and makeup for my wedding and I couldn't have chosen a better team! Katie did my hair and Maris did my airbrush/makeup.
