There's a line to check in. A wait for the tram, a wait for passengers to take a photo and a couple stairs up to the restaurant. Plus you can't call if you late, due to no cell service. The treat after a 5 mile hike this afternoon. It's kind of a thing now for us to come here after a hike. There's always some open seats available, either a single or double. Bartender does make their rounds and changes often. Besides drinks you can also have your meal at the bar area. Drinks specials are also offered. When it comes to cocktails, they have their specialties that's looked quite nice. I haven't had them but they do seem a bit too sweet for me. I like to stick to the basic, a beer on draft or a glass of wine. What's also nice, you can take your drink out to the observatory deck and enjoy the view of the whole desert. Theres a table around the side where there's more telescopes that is nice to have a seat and enjoy the view. With loads of tables inside where the cafe is, you can order your drink and take it with you. A nice spot that's great for a cold one without having to go inside to the main restaurant. read more

This is a MUST if you're going up Mt. San Jacinto! We booked reservations in advance, and I'm glad we did because reserved seating gets you some of the best views. The restaurant feels like an upscale lodge dining where you'll see some people dressed up for photos, while others (like us) show up in hiking gear. We were seated upstairs with beautiful views of the mountains and a perfect vantage point to people watch as visitors took photos at the lookout point. Service was excellent! Our water glasses were never empty, and the staff checked on us often without being intrusive. Since we came for dinner, a few items listed on Yelp, like the burger and pulled pork sandwich, weren't available. For cocktails, we ordered Empress 1908 & Tonic and the House Crafted Hot Honey Blackberry. Whoever made these had a pretty heavy pour! Even though the alcohol overpowered the other flavors that I could barely taste the hot honey, they were definitely aesthetic and lasted us through dinner. We started with the Brie and Date Flatbread, then ordered the filet mignon and the braised pork osso bucco for our entrées. - Brie and date flatbread: Delicious! The flatbread was soft, and the arugula added a fresh bite while being lightly dressed. The caramelized onions and dates brought a subtle sweetness that balanced the earthy mushrooms, creamy Brie, and tangy balsamic glaze. I liked the texture and flavor in every bite. - Filet mignon: It was just okay. At 8 ounces, it was a thick cut that ended up being a little tough and took more effort to cut and chew than I expected. The sauce on top felt like it was trying to make up for the dryness, while the mashed potatoes and carrots were solid but pretty standard. - Braised pork osso bucco: This was the meal to get! The portion was massive and easily enough to share between 2 people. The pork was well seasoned, incredibly tender, and fell right off the bone. It paired nicely with the polenta, although there was still more than enough meat to go around. This is the kind of place where the scenery is the main attraction and the food complements the experience. It's definitely on the pricey side, but that's expected for the location and menu. If I make it back up the mountain, I'd probably come for lunch next time. If I came back for dinner, I'd order the braised pork again without hesitation. read more

I visited the Peaks Restaurant during Restaurant Week. I've never been on the tram or to the restaurant so this was a wonderful experience. For dinner, I ordered the Charred Shrimp, Filet Mignon for the main, and the Tiramisu for dessert. The Charred Shrimp was good and I enjoyed the bed of shredded cabbage. The "pineapple chili glaze" reminded me of any bottled sweet chili sauce. Very sweet and nothing special. I would recommend a brown butter sauce or creamy lemon sauce instead. The Filet Mignon was perfectly cooked (medium rare), juicy and delicious. However, this was the first steak I ever had to put salt on as there seemed to be no seasoning on it. I didn't like the Demi Glaze so a seasoning was necessary for me. The potato puree was delicious. A few more carrots and having them cooked a bit more tender would have been lovely. The Tiramisu was excellent and everything was beautifully plated. The atmosphere was beautiful, calm, and we had a great view. Reservations is recommended. We booked their first appt and people were already lining up before they even opened. Luckily they seated everyone with reservations first before the walk-ins. The restaurant is smaller than I thought but with the majority of the seating situated for optimal viewing of three beautiful scenery outside. Food was good but not great. It was hit or miss on certain items. The steak sandwich was ordered Medium rare and was a little more well done than we wanted. Steak was a bit tough too. We did like the fries, clam chowder, and classic cheddar burger. The service was a bit slow and they forgot a couple of our sides. Every seat in the house in the main dining area had a beautiful view, which makes the whole experience feel pretty special. Dining at 8,500 feet with those views is definitely unique and so special. Diego and his team were amazing! After hiking, we were pretty hungry, so we ordered the pesto/brie flatbread, which was absolutely delicious. Peaks sits at the top of Mount San Jacinto at 8,516 feet. You take the aerial tramway up, which is about a 10-15 minute lift. It's quite an experience and the view is immaculate. I had the Charred Shrimp, Filet Mignon cooked medium with Demi-glace on the side, and Salted Caramel Cheesecake. For the price you're paying and the look of fine dining the food and quality was anything but fine dining. The fries were cold, the steak sandwich had no seasoning I had to ask for jalapeños and hot sauce to add some type of seasoning to make it edible. Started the evening with a magical tram ride up to Peaks Restaurant which set the tone for an unforgettable night. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, reservation confirmed and seated at our table. The festive decorations inside created a warm and inviting atmosphere for celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. Jumping into our meal we decided on sharing the appetizer of Charred Shrimp and the Iceberg Wedge Salad that were both flavorful and PERFECT!! I decided to go bold and against the server's suggestion with choosing the Half Roasted Duck and ummmm yummmm it was absolutelyyy rich, tender && full of flavor - glad I picked this dish!! My hubby went with the Colorado Rack of Lamb that was cooked to perfection with all the fixins: spinach, mashed potatoes and topped with rosemary demi glaze - deLISH!! We finished off the evening with two incredible desserts - the Berry Brulee (this is a MUST when we go out) and for the birthday guy chocolate of course picking the Chocolate Caramel Crunch Cake. I put in my reservation it was my honeymoon. I also told the waiter. We didn't want to pick a dessert to be charged. No free dessert nothing celebrated for our wedding that just happened on Sunday. Peak Performance: A High-Altitude Anniversary to Remember We visited Peaks to celebrate our 29th anniversary, and it truly felt like a festive, "top of the world" experience. To reach the restaurant, you have to take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. As someone with a significant fear of heights, I found the ascent a little frightening, but the staff operating the tram were incredible--knowledgeable, welcoming, and very entertaining, which helped calm the nerves. Since we had dinner reservations and it was already dark by the time we headed up, the views were limited on the way, but the arrival at the top was seamless. The photography staff at the summit were also friendly and added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant itself is stunning. It's decorated to make you feel as though you are sitting right in the middle of a forest, with large boulders and trees surrounding the dining area. A massive glass wall offers picturesque views of the valley below, which were made even more festive by the beautiful Christmas tree and holiday lights. One tip for future travelers: it gets quite chilly on the mountain, so bring a jacket! Our only regret was not arriving earlier in the day to enjoy the views by daylight and hike around the San Jacinto State Park. The service was the highlight of the evening. We arrived early and enjoyed a drink in the bar area, where the service was great. Our waiter, Jonny, was absolutely wonderful and attentive throughout the night. He even surprised us with a "Happy Anniversary" message alongside fresh strawberries and ice cream, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was very tasty. Having had a late lunch, we opted to share the Ribeye steak dinner. It came with crisp, delicious asparagus and roasted baby potatoes. The steak itself was a bit thinner than we anticipated, which unfortunately led to it being slightly overcooked despite our request for medium-rare. However, we paired it with the Mediterranean bruschetta and strawberry baby greens, both of which were excellent. Overall, it was a beautiful and memorable way to celebrate 29 years. After riding up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, we went to Peaks Restaurant inside of Mountain Station. Their lunch menu consists of American food. We all got waters, but I noticed that ours had a distinct filtered taste. I almost got the steak sandwich but ended up ordering smoked gouda pulled pork mac and cheese ($24) after the waiter said he preferred that dish. The cavatappi pasta had a great al dente texture. The gouda and cheddar made each bite of mac really tasty. I enjoyed the little crispy onions that went over the pulled pork. It mixed well with the mac's flavor. The pulled pork made the dish even more filling. I had to share some of my food as I couldn't finish it on my own. While the dishes were pricy, I enjoyed my mac and cheese a lot. I'm glad I didn't get the steak sandwich as the meat wasn't really to my liking. Also, there wasn't a wait when we arrived to the restaurant. The indoor environment gets cold, so I had to put my jacket on. You can exit out of the restaurant toward an observation deck looking over the Colorado Desert. read more

So we have reached the top and we got two choices only for enjoying a meal, well three if you bring your own food, which I don't know what the process is behind that. So option one is Pines cafe which is exactly what everyone mentions, cafeteria inspired meals. Hot fast and ready, extremely low quality. Then there is Peaks Restaurant that boasts an amazing view with also, mediocre food. I'll be honest after glancing at the cafeteria at Pines and our food at Peaks I said to myself there isn't much difference. Food looked beyond sub par at both locations but here we are at Peaks. Dining at a view. So after paying 32 dollars for 4 beers at the Peaks bar I figured it was time to sit and dine! Seating didn't take long either about a 10 minute wait. Walking to our table gave me some insight of how the food is going to be. Not so pumped anymore, I tell you that. People come here with medium to high expectations but the execution of food is medium to low. I mean nothing super fancy. Like bar food to be exact. "Grilled" chicken sandwich far from grilled. I feel like restaurants shouldn't put grilled if it's not actually grilled. Thin cut, more bread than actual meat, bacon was SOFT. Just a sorry rendition of food. The chicken was also pan seared or griddle seared whatever you wanna call it. No grill streaks, no char, lacking flavor IMO. Edible but nothing fancy. Fries were lame, and the cheese on the chicken was glued on the meat as if it sat for a bit. Sad. The smoked Gouda pulled pork Mac n cheese. What a mouthful. Needed a bit more life if you asked me. Not enough "pulled pork". It was obviously it was just baked in the oven till soft and slathered with bbq sauce. I mean pork is like 3 dollars a pound, it wouldn't hurt to put more meat on top. Although it was alright but compared to other photos. This just wasn't it. Onions cut too thick, no where near crispy. "Chef" or cook was lazy to cut the onions thin for garnish, mandolins don't cost much. Just not eye catching or something I would be proud of serving a guest. Oh can't forget that sorry pickle. Soft, wilted, and a bit warm. Depressing. In my opinion this experience can be better. I think if the eatery relied less on the view and more on the final product of the food experience would be phenomenal but I totally get it. They aren't after any Michelin stars. After traveling to Mount San Jacinto state park on the aerial tram and doing a short hike, I decided to enjoy lunch at Peaks. I was alone and quickly seated at a seat with an amazing view of the desert below. My waitress was attentive and help with with deciding on my order. I tried the following: Mezcatini (5/5; delicious and came with candied hibiscus flowers, which were super tasty and inventive! Hibiscus is one of my favorite flavors so I love that they had a mezcal based drink) and wild mushroom ravioli (5/5; filling and delicious! The sauce was amazing and perfectly seasoned, there were a generous number of ravioli that were full of mushrooms and cheese. It was my first time taking the tram up to the top, and after taking in the amazing views and walking around a bit, we had an awesome lunch at he Peaks restaurant. On Monday it was still pretty decently busy at 11:30am. It's a pretty popular tourist spot and the lines can be pretty long. Very worth the wait though, because the views are fabulous from the restaurant. The food and service are amazing! I had the strawberry salad and the Coachella burger, which I ended up splitting both. The burgers are enormous, and come with a lot of fries. Definitely a lot for me, but they are great if you're super hungry! I would love to come back here and try more of the menu. Definitely recommend if you end up taking the tram ride up. read more

Beautiful views. I teetered on 3.5-4 stars. The view gets the extra .5 and the my did fix our reservation that was messed up that I did have proof I had. Drinks were fun. My raviolis were very good. After reading the reviews, we made a dinner reservation for 6pm, but the restaurant opens at 5pm & were able to get in early. The ambiance is comfortable & the view is great. Instead of appetizers & salad, we opted to share the mac & cheese, topped by shredded meat. Yummy! One of us ordered the osso bucco & one ordered the ribeye steak. Our orders arrived very quickly, but we were soon disappointed. The osso bucco was very tender, but the sauce was bland & polenta was dry. The medium rare ribeye was tough & medium. Our server was apologetic & took the replacement order of salmon graciously. Sadly, when it arrived, it smelled fishy & was undercooked. The jasmine rice was mushy. The manager discounted our bill by 25%, but we still went away disappointed with the food. We were pleasantly surprised. Our work group chose this restaurant, because we wanted to ride the Aerial Tram and they were able to take a reservation for 7 people. They brought it staff to assist with delivering food to our table and assist with drinks. We ended up meeting up with another work group and they were able to accommodate a last minute request to combine our two groups at one "table" very very nice and didn't give any attitude about the request. Our primary server was patient and was willing to seek out answer about wine and dietary restrictions without missing a beat. Everyone felt their needs were met. The food was good. Overall 4 stars for the appetizers, meals and desserts. With that said, my dish Vegetable Curry with Salmon added - 5 stars!!! So delicious!!!!! I loved every single bite of it. The appetizers were good, were not anything special, but were good and filling. Beverages remained full, empty plates were cleared and we were checked on, again, the service was excellent. We came for a day trip to check out the tram ride and do a little hiking on the mountain. It was a holiday weekend (Monday on MLK day) it wasn't too busy. There wasn't much of a wait to be seated. The restaurant is nice with a great view from atop the mountain. Our food came out a lot faster than I expected, like maybe 10-15 minutes. With how fast it came out it was surprisingly still very good. I saw a few other review mentioning how the food was mediocre which I could see with how fast it came out. Either we got lucky or others had too high of an expectation with the place. If you're making a trip to take the tram ride I think Peaks Resturant is worth checking out for dinner, especially since your only option for food up here is the cafeteria or snacks from gift shop. read more

Avoid having lunch at Peaks during your visit to the Palm Springs Tram. The restaurant food served during our lunch visit was an absolute fail. My Caesar Salad with Chicken was no better than a supermarket packaged salad. Dressing was not great, packaged croutons, cheese, the chicken had been cooked previously and was dry and tough. It was a complete disaster for $30. The burger was a decent size but it was served with a side of fries that were cooked several hours ago, the spinach dip was tasty but definitely not worth the price point for what they served. Bottom line, Peaks is a hard pass on our next visit, they lack basic quality standards. The chef should be replaced for what they are serving up there. Food was delicious and priced fairly for a nicer restaurant. Views were breathtaking and plenty of multilevel window tables. Good for date night and big groups. read more
