We stopped by for happy hour and found the deals pretty limited -- only a small drink selection and none of the specials applied to food -- but we still ordered a light bite and the food was good. Service was a bit slow just to get drinks, and the prices lean on the higher end compared to other wine bars, but it's still worth checking out. The staff were friendly, and you really can't beat the location. Would recommend popping in for a glass as you explore Palm Springs. Had dinner here last night that was highly recommended by a friend. We started with the spinach artichoke dip, which was just phenomenal as well as two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. While on a girl's trip to Palm Springs this summer we stumbled upon Canopy as we were shopping in the downtown area and looking for poor Marilyn who had been moved from her usual spot. The owner helped us out by pointing us in the right direction and we noticed the restaurant and the beautiful décor as we chatted with him. We returned for dinner and were very impressed with the food, wine, and service. I had one of their spritzes (I think the champagne one) and for my entrée, I had the La Scala chopped salad with chickpeas and chicken. It was very tasty. I also tried the roasted beets with couscous, artichokes, and feta, which was even better. Everyone was also raving about the Dirty Della sandwich with mortadella and a pistachio pesto mayo, which was recommended by the waiter. To finish off, we did share in a slice of the burnt Basque cheesecake which was delightful. We sat outside and the temperature had cooled down just enough to have a slight breeze. We stumbled upon Canopy while looking for a place to have dinner. Although not wine connoisseurs, my friend had a margarita made with agave wine, which she pronounced delicious. We had the deviled eggs -amazing!- and the charcuterie board which was like the high tea of delectable meats and cheeses, with all sorts of little surprises tucked in for us to enjoy. Way too much for two people, would be nice to have a smaller option but we ate as much as we could. Our servers were friendly and efficient and Chef Kristen served our food and chatted with us about her deviled egg recipe. The outdoor setting was comfortable and quiet off the main street. Two comments/suggestions-- put up some sort of screen along the patio to block the view of the port-a-potties at the skate park; and for pete's sake get a Nespresso machine so one can enjoy a cup of coffee with their dessert! read more

Our local group of 4 ordered over $300 of wine and food, only to be informed 5 minutes after it reached the table that it was "last call"... it was 8:29pm on a SATURDAY NIGHT! Then, as we were rushed to eat, our waitress (who had interrupted our conversations at least 4 times) signed off to "go home early" and the nice music was switched to an aggressively loud Mambo Number Five, and other Abu Ghraib Torture Music Hits that were obviously intended to force us out, or make us uncomfortable. By the time we left at the unholy hour of 9:30pm, lights were off and chairs were stacked- so much for ambiance. What's wrong with this place... This was a Saturday night!?! Why would a wine lounge close so early? Why are you rushing high paying guests? Most importantly... Who plays Mambo Number Five at full volume in a wine bar? Or in any public place, for that matter. Shame on the management. When this place is shuttered, we'll all know why: Lazy hours, poorly trained staff, and a rude overall guest experience... all for exorbitant prices. read more

If you're in Palm Springs on a Sunday night, this place should absolutely be on your radar. Now, a little secret: the Kale Caesar Salad. But this isn't your average Caesar--it's lifted by espelette red pepper, a French chili that doesn't shout, it sings. At just around 4,000 on the Scoville scale, it's more about warm complexity and subtle depth than heat. It rounds out the dish beautifully. That's all I'll give away. The sourdough bread here might make this the best restaurant I've eaten at in Palm Springs. My wife and I stopped here for some wine and a snack prior to our dinner, though ended up joining the No Kings demonstration nearby instead. The wine was good, but they have a sourdough bread with herb butter and and egg yolk confit that might possibly be one of the best things I've ever eaten. It was so good we ended up going back the next night. We found out that things were pretty solidly booked about an hour out from when we got there, but all the very nice people who worked there remembered us and fit us into a table as long as we could be done within the next hour or so. It was, again, excellent, and the service was great. There was a young man there performing the second night doing rat pack songs. He was spot on enough that my wife originally thought it was a recording. As I sat there in my Sepultura shirt, it was not my style of music, but if its your style, then you'll love this guy. I am excited that we found Canopy Wine Lounge, I feel like my wife and I finally have a place we're excited to eat at in Palm Springs. We're looking forward to our next visit. read more

We sat outside not too far from the "fire tables?" We had a nice dry Reisling shared their 1/2 charcuterie platter for 2 which was alot of delish items. Yummy olives cheeses Italian meats. Nice cracker selection grapes + condiments! 2nd time with friends shared their Iberico bread which was like a delish grown up empanada w chips! I had the Champagne Flight. Love love love Canopy! We walked past this place while previewing our dinner spot and popped in to see what they had going on for NYE. They mentioned a 9pm toast which was perfect since my hubby is from the east coast and liked to celebrate at 9pm and 12pm, so we decided to pop back in after our dinner. Beyond friendly service- truly and genuinely wonderful people work here. The vibe and space is beautiful and you can tell they spent so much time with the details, finishes and fixtures. We had some drinks and olives to nibble on until the countdown. The staff passed around fun NYE themed glasses, hats, etc and glasses of champagne to everyone! We were there a few days ago. They are really making an effort to do the thing right. Decor is A-plus, wait staff (we had Lisa) were wonderful, and they have a large selection of Argentinian wines. We had one of the private label reds that seemed a little young; full of tannins, but still interesting. Will be better after it's laid down a while longer. We can't wait to have the charcuterie boards and be there for the opening of the Rose' amphora in the lobby. (Canopy is registered as a winery; so they can age their wine there. Not sure where the grapes are grown.) This only thing that would make it better would be to add some more approachable and affordable reds, like Zins from Lodi, or Cabs or Red Blends from Paso Robles. For some reason, there was a large selection of wines from Russian River, which is not my favorite wine-growing region, since there are so many more wonderful wine growing regions in CA. The ambience here makes it worthwhile. It's the perfect spot for a date or to enjoy a glass of wine after dinner, since they are open later than some restaurants. Go check em out. Had the most wonderful solo happy hour experience here. The ambiance was inviting and modern with beautiful decor and tons of seating (indoor/outdoor). I was greeted warmly upon entering, given a choice of seating, and taken care of by every one on staff. Staff was incredibly kind, attentive, knowledgable, and helpful. I felt very comfortable dining alone and the wine and food (I had the mezze) was delicious. We got there just before 3:00, not knowing that's when they opened, and a small handful of people had already gathered at the door -- looks like the word has gotten out! Our server, Liz, was friendly and attentive. I had a glass of the Chateau de Langalarie Merlot for $16, while my wife opted for the Pursuit Pinot Noir at $18/glass. The ambiance here is upscale modern, but still fairly comfortable. They charge a 20% service charge, which "includes gratuity." My wife and I had a wonderful time at Canopy. We had a roomy spot inside on the window that allowed for a view of the beautiful interior design and allowed us to watch people walking by. The interior design is stylish and fun. The service was great, especially the front manager Liz, who helped make our experience. We had the most amazing fried green tomato salad, that had a dill sauce inside the breading. We also had a cheese truffle sandwich and the duck confit salad. All was delicious and complimented the wine well. We had a tasting flight of champagne and one of Pinot. Tastes were a 3oz pour in beautiful wine glasses that all go through a four step buffing process. read more

We went to a blind wine tasting at Canopy last week and it was outstanding! We've been to several wine tastings over the years but this one really stood out. The sommelier is so good ... he had us slurping, drooling, smelling, savoring and more importantly, enjoying some very tasty wines from all over. We felt like we not only had a fun evening but instead (and on top of the fun), we learned something. We'd highly recommend going to these tastings - and we'll be back for more! I got a glass of the Zalkin Kin Grenache (very good), and my husband got a glass of the Waypoint Zinfandel from Amador County, also very good. We took a quick trip to Palm Springs for some much needed R & R. We decided to check out Canopy since the owner has some winery brands in Napa, and that's where we're from. First - the ambiance and decor - Truly beautiful! This place is comfortable, fashionable and designed to true perfection. It's fun to see the Amphora where they are aging a wine (Josh, the GM is the winemaker, and I think that's so cool!). The outdoor patio was magical, and both times visiting, we were lucky to have live music and the musicians were amazing! The wine selection is diverse, fun and well priced. We sampled a few different wines from the menu, and each were beautifully unique in their own way - but hands down, all delicious. The service is out of this world! So Friendly, knowledgeable and fun! You can tell that these guys like working together and that they enjoy doing what they're doing. We had Lisa for the first visit, and Josh for the 2nd visit. Both of them truly gems! So, we had plans for Valentine's Day, but due to some food restrictions we weren't able to keep them. We were told that Canopy was launching a new culinary tasting menu on Valentine's Day evening, so we thought that would be so fun to try since we're totally into food and wine pairings! And dang!! We were SO blown away at how truly magical the food was! Chef Kristen (and Ellis) provided a true culinary delight - one that can put any of the food pairings in Napa to the test! It was a five course pairing, with each building upon the previous. I have to say that my 2 favorite items were the Bellini with caviar, creme Fraiche, and diced hard boiled egg. The flavor profile literally knocked my socks off! And then the Tater Tot with Dungeoness crab! Holy Moly!! Talk about flavor profiles dancing in your mouth!!! And it was paired with a pink Semillon! We stopped in here before VillageFest and had no issues getting a table. The vibe is wonderful. There was live music (but not loud and we could carry on a convo with ease) and it felt very comfy, chill and upscale. Our wines were delicious and we got the Garden Tartine- which was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too busy and we had no issues with service. The 20% was clearly stated on the menu and our server mentioned it again when we got the bill. We're from San Diego, so we're used to the stupid 5% surcharge and then you're supposed to tip on top of that, so we didn't mind this. It IS presumptuous and I can see how people don't like it, however. We went to another wine bar later in the evening and reminisced how amazing this place is in comparison.
