Look. Regarding the negative reviews of working with Jim, you can see they are personality mismatches. Jim is fast, no nonsense, and experienced. I found him early in my SF apartment search and didn't appreciate how straightforward he was. Huge mistake. Fast forward 4 months and I've dealt with some of THE worst rental/property management companies in SF. Unethical, poor communication, commission fees as if we're in NY??, you name it. If I could go back, I would have rented from Jim that same day I saw the apartment. Don't make the same mistake I made. If he chooses you for the apartment, do it. Don't get into application battles. Update: finally heard back from Jim and he said he won't talk to me because I left a review and hung up. Then called back to yell at me and tell me I'm arrogant and hung up again. So still no resolution. Not even communication. No one answers the phone - ever. The building management created damage to our home next door and has not responded to several calls and emails to work on a resolution. Can't imagine what a nightmare it would be to live there and need maintenance. Appears to be slumlords. read more

I had recently reached out to inquire about a parking add I saw online and asked if the price was negotiable. I received a very rude and sarcastic response of, "parking hasn't been that price in 10 years. Good luck" by Jim. I did not appreciate being spoken to this way, especially as a potential customer who was very kind. There are plenty of other realty groups in San Francisco that treat people with kindness and respect. This isn't one of them, look elsewhere. read more

Even thinking about finding housing in San Francisco makes my blood pressure rise. But the experience I had with Jim Keighran is one for the record books. I want to lay out a timeline so you can fully understand what happened. 5:28pm: I emailed Jim requesting a tour of a property he was managing 5:29pm: Jim emailed me and arranged a tour 6:30pm: I arrived and toured the property 7:55pm: completed lease agreement for my new apartment! 2 hours 27 minutes to find and secure an amazing apartment at an amazing prize. Jim and his team are very fair. The buildings are well maintained and they strive to continually upgrade the amenities. If something ever needed attention or repaired/fixed, they would do it immediately. Peak owns many buildings in the Marina so plenty of inventory to chose from. I read the reviews below and almost decided not to work with Jim, looking back that would have been a mistake. Jim was 100% honest and direct with me, he followed through on what he said and made me feel very comfortable in my final decisions. He also gives me tips to ensure I had access to the place I wanted. The units he represents are great and from my research a very good value in the best area of SF in my opinion. I've been a renter at a building managed by Peak Realty since 2008 (1695 Beach St). I've had the usual issues anyone experiences in an older building in San Francisco, but they've consistently been quick and responsive to requests for maintenance. Often get it done within 24 hours for small items, and are respectful about scheduling for my convenience when issue will take longer. It is a small operation, but service and accessibility have been great. Would rent again at a building managed by Peak Realty in the future. read more

This is the worst real estate management company imaginable. They don't respond to basic and urgent maintenance requests, they bully tenants, and they don't seem to care about their tenants or their buildings. The only reason I lived in one of their buildings is because it's one of the few in the marina that has a garage and in unit laundry (though their washing machines notoriously ruin clothing - if you talk to anyone living in their buildings you'll learn this!). If you can avoid renting from them, do it and save yourself the hassle and frustration of having a truly horrible landlord who doesn't even do what basic law requires of him. I left SF and my new, kind, non-bullying and law-abiding landlord is showing me just how bad that situation was. I'm a reasonable person with reasonable expectations as a tenant and this was profoundly bad. read more

I signed a lease with for a garage and immediately the problems started happening. Openers won't work, slow to respond to emails and voicemails, batteries don't work, handymen parked blocking the garage, (who was told to do so by Peak) etc, etc.... I then see if there is a manager, or anyone higher in the organization that I can deal with, and I find out that they have 3 people on staff, 2 of which are family. Do not rent ANYTHING from them, they are horrendous. read more

I stayed at one of Peak Reality apartments. My experience was the worse I had with a property manager. It started with Jim lying to me about the very first and most important things I told him. I found out about these after I moved in. I had to deal with them. But the really bad part was how he yelled at me and cursed at me using F in order to stiff me the cleaning fees to me. I know it is pretty bad out there looking for a place in SF but I wouldn't deal with this person if I were you. Take it from me look for a better place in the neighborhood while you can. read more

Lived in 1740 Beach Street in a fantastic apartment that has the best sunsets, for 3 years (and had to move due to work). Whenever I had a request, it was addressed early next day - something that never happens in SF. Perfect communication and epic experience. The bulding is well-maintained and Marina is lovely. I was a tenant at one of their properties for close to five years. Here are the highlights: - Listing and Viewing Appointment - this was quick and easy and Jim was easy to deal with. We applied and were approved that day after our application and information was verified. - Property - Peak does a really good job at updating and maintaining their properties. We were lucky enough to have moved into an updated building but there were some legacy units in our building. As those folks moved out they fully updated them (kitchen, bathroom, floors etc.) - Maintenance - Peak has a really good portal on their site where you can enter tickets for maintenance or issues and are responsive. They have a dedicated maintenance crew that handles these issues. - Security - Over the five years they installed a gate to the front entrance and installed multiple cameras throughout their buildings. I do not recall any security issues while living there. - Move out - we were sad to move out of this building but the process was smooth and simple. I'd recommend living in a building managed by Peak. read more

I had a fantastic experience renting from Peak for the last 2 years. They are well organized, responsive and very fair. They invested thousands into our building over the last 12 months such as new windows, painting the entire building, stronger security measures, landscaping, and restoring the building's beautiful fountains. I see some complaints on other reviews here but honestly I've lived in 5 buildings in SF over the last 10 years and Jim & the team at Peak are providing a higher level of accessibility, cleanliness, and fair pricing than the other buildings I have rented from. read more

We didn't even get a chance to rent an apartment through Peak Realty. After calling and emailing for two days, getting an appointment set for early in the morning in order to see the unit as soon as possible, sitting in traffic for over two hours to arrive to the appointment, we find out right before the appointment time that the unit had already been rented. What a complete lack of respect! Any sort of notice at all would have gone a long way, and for the wasting of time, gas, patience, and effort, there is no way I can give a positive review. read more

I've been living at a Peak Realty property in the Marina for the last 18 months and have had a great experience! They keep the building clean and are always very responsive to maintenance requests should you need something done in your unit! Our property manager, Jim, has been extremely professional and courteous. He let me park my car inside the garage free of charge for a while as a window was getting fixed! We had a great experience with Peak. In the beginning, they processed our applications within 2 hours, and we had the keys the next day. With any maintenance request, they are prompt to respond and fix the issue within 24-48 hours (absolute max). They were quick to answer any questions we had regarding payments, maintenance, mail, etc. in a prompt manner, and were incredibly gracious and easy to work with. The unit was in beautiful shape upon move in (and move out :) ). It was an easy, happy experience for us, and we are only moving out because our job are taking us out of state, otherwise we would be resigning our lease! The team clearly invests a lot of time, energy, and care for their properties, and it clearly shows! Being a renter with them makes life a lot easier, especially considering we had just escaped a horrible management company. Peak felt like a breath of fresh air! read more

i have never written a review before, and im not sure many people would think to check yelp before renting an apartment. but i sure wish i had! i cannot emphasize enough how TERRIBLE PEAK REALTY is run. it is insane the lack of response, respect, compassion, and professionalism this company has. i had lived in one of their pac heights units for just over a year with really no major complaints. then a pipe burst in the unit above ours, and completely flooded our unit, destroying a LOT of personal property. the management could not have cared less. i was constantly on the phone MYSELF scheduling and consulting contractors, mold specialists, insurance adjusters, with NO LANDLORD TO BE FOUND. phone calls and emails went unanswered. 2 months later since this traumatic experience, we still havent received our deposit and refunded rent. again, if this stops just ONE person from renting from this criminals this review will be worth it. read more
