We ordered the sausage/vegetable pizza which is a white pizza ($15), and the sweet potato kale salad (14). Both were perfectly cooked, fresh, and perfect portions to share between me and my wife. This is my wife's and mine second time eating here. For two years now while coming for the Smokey Mountain Half marathon we've settled on this place. Today I had the half chicken with Brussels sprouts (out of the potatoes), and the wife had the kale salad with added chicken. We both enjoyed our meals. The food is very overpriced. We ordered the roasted half-chicken, an Italian sub, a soft pretzel and three soft drinks and it cost $62, not including tip. The chicken was pretty good but the sub was just "okay". Definitely not worth the exorbitant price. read more

I've been here several times now and it is just such a cool spot with something for everyone! I always try to go when the weather is nice because they have the absolute best patio area. Not only are there covered areas, but tables for large groups and spots near the taco shack, the uniquely constructed kids play area, cornhole, and a doggie park area. Don't sleep on those amazing views, either! The patio closest to the restaurant/bar has ceiling fans and TVs where they show games, too. Inside, there is an abundance of table space as well as a bar you can sit at. Whether you eat/drink inside or outside, you always get into the line inside the main doors to order. They give you a buzzer to place on your table. I have tried their roundbreads (both the fig/pear/cheese and the pepperoni), tacos (all three meats tried), taco bowl, soft pretzel, and goat cheese/corn fritters, brussel sprouts and tasty beer (of course!). The roundbreads are amazing and woodfired, the fritters are tasty with that homemade and creamy sauce, and the soft pretzel may be the best we've had since moving to the South. The mustard with the pretzel we had to toss before our kids could try it, as it was the spiciest mustard I have ever consumed. Jeepers creepers. ha! Hubby's eyes were watering. The beer cheese is really good, though! The sauce with the brussel sprouts was really flavorful and the sprouts came out warm and fresh, but unfortunately a bit hard in the middle. Dang. The tacos and bowl were admittedly a tad disappointing and pricey. They were customizable and came out quickly, which is awesome. However, aside from the beef option, the other tacos and bowl did not have as much flavor as we had hoped and the tortillas quickly got soggy and fell apart. The atmosphere, ample food and entertainment offerings, quality of most of the food, and the friendly service are amazing. Now that we've tried many items from the menu, we know what to order next time. This is a must-try spot worth a special visit. read more

Came down into Townsend, from Cades Cove, for dinner. Had our pup with us so this was the perfect place. We loved the whole outdoor setup and being able to have our dog with us. The only reason I gave them four stars is because they recently changed the mustard that came with the beer cheese pretzel it used to be insanely delicious and spicy. We chanced upon this place on our trip to Gatlinburg. I never would have thought there was a hidden gem past the area we were staying at. Peaceful Side Social (aka The Social as the locals call it) has a lot to offer. Amazing food and drinks, beer and cider on tap and they have a taco bar outside that has a BYO margarita bar. It's a covered porch that welcomes leashed dogs, and has a little play area for the kids. They have nice, clean bathrooms with a changing table in one, and ample parking outside. Hubby and I took a leisure drive through Townsend, Tn and stumbled across this gem. What a great find! It's super cute and well appointed. Staff is warm and friendly, the food items looked appetizing and there's a large selection of ice cold draft beer, ciders, and wine. There's sufficient indoor seating for dining along with a nice open bar area, an outdoor Taco Bar, children's play area, covered patio area with T.V.'s, an open area with shaded sun cloths. Not a huge number of eating establishments in Townsend, but this was pretty good. The atmosphere is laid back. They have a great outdoor space, covered seating, and indoor seating. It is counter service and there is a small bar area. It has a decent draft beer selection, and is good for all ages. We ordered the smoked trout sandwich, beef stew, a side of spicy tomato soup, and a pretzel with beer cheese and mustard. Everything was good EXCEPT the stew and soup were WAY over salted. They have a large inside and outside space to hang out in any weather. There's also a taco truck with margs outside but we didn't try them out. Best known for their pizzas, but we chose to go with the steak bites with blue cheese and chimichurri sauce. This dish, along with the goat cheese, fritters were excellent choices. Good beer selection. I'm writing to mainly say that their ordering system needs work. Maybe put a signboard out FRONT that people can see before they walk in and abruptly hit the counter and have to order? We had older folks in our party and they could not read the signboard up above. Printed menus are available but again-- you walk in and you are RIGHT THERE to order and when it's busy there are soon people pushing up behind...it can be intimidating. Given the phsyical layout, I don't know what they could do to make it a little more user-friendly, but they need to do something. Especially given that there are a lot of tourists, i.e. first-time visitors. I can't imagine the horror if you had 2-3 kids there trying to read/decide!!! We stopped in at this place, ravenous following an overnight backpacking excursion near Abram's Falls. The parking lot was full, and having never been here before, we were excited to see what this place was all about. We placed our orders inside then seated ourselves at outside where we found an array of people and pets. We also found a taco bar which offered one delicious beef taco and a mean dream of a margarita that Shawn/Sean made with in-house jalepeno infused simple syrup (but don't worry, they have other non-spicy options). The thin crust pizzas and crispy truffle fries offered just the fuel we needed after much hiking, and we commented on how this place was well-suited for really any person of any age. We were visiting the Smokies staying in Townsend. I looked up a bar/grill/restaurant that had live music and found the Social. The outdoor seating looked fine, but the service was anything nit inviting. It seemed to be a bother to ask for a table and to get someone to wipe the table. This restaurant is an order and pay at the counter and they bring it to you. The short line area is not very long and went in front of the soda fountain, through the entrance and doors. Where people needed to hold the door open. It felt like a bother to order and the food was not very good. Next to the food order is the beer counter. Not inviting. Just a plain counter with taps. The wine is terrible. The interior of the restaurant is dull and almost empty. Unfortunately, we were not happy with the service, food, atmosphere and experience. read more
