Another great visit! This time I actually had a cheeseburger and let me tell you that it is one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had honestly! We started with the chips smothered with their homemade sloppy Joe mix, cheese and onions! Soooo good! Their coleslaw is really good too and they have some of the best fries ever!! We have driven by Sloppy Hog countless times and they've always seemed busy. Yet the reviews contradicted what looks to be a great place to eat. We finally decided to see if the busyness of the restaurant was a better indicator than the reviews we had seen. We ordered to go. A large BBQ Chicken Pizza with half of it substituting jalapeños for the onion. We also ordered a large Whole Hog. These are thin crust pizzas. The host said the bartender was next door restocking and would be back soon to take our order. We waited around ten minutes for her to return. She came back with some beer and became preoccupied for a few moments with a scratch and commented that she couldn't believe she was bleeding. Not what you want to hear from a restaurant employee. The place was extremely busy with a line waiting for a seat, so when the bartender who took our order said it would be 40 minutes, we weren't surprised. We left to get some groceries while waiting and returned about thirty minutes later. We sat in our vehicle and waited. We saw the bartender come out and look at cars as tho looking for someone. We waited a few more minutes then went in. Our pizzas were on the bar. They were finished early. The issue we have is this: the bartender is the only one who will help at the bar. She was very busy but the staff around her wouldn't even look our way in spite of trying to get their attention. The pizza was already paid for and we just wanted to have it given to us and get it back to the cabin before it cooled too much. Didn't happen. 5-10 minutes later, we left with the pizzas. Seems they could have a better way of handling to go orders. The pizzas were tasty. The BBQ chicken could have stood a lot more chicken on it. The Whole Hog, on the other hand, was loaded... with a whole hog, it would seem. That was a winner. We would give it a go again but I think we would try the burgers. We saw them being delivered to tables and they looked amazing. Would I recommend? Yeah. Just don't be in a rush. read more

Stopped there for lunch. It had good reviews and we were not disappointed. First of all, greeted by and served by the wonderful Dawn, who was very congenial, knowledgeable and met our every need. She was an absolute delight. My wife had the sloppy Joe burger and I had the pulled pork. We got both with onion rings and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Plenty of parking for cars, trucks and RVs. Sloppy Hog has an outdoor area that is dog friendly. Your food comes out fast. We got the sloppy Joe smothered homemade chips, the world famous (according to Sandra) onion rings, and the chicken wings. They smoke the wings for three hours before they fry them. This was just what we needed after a full day of hiking through the GSMNP. It was a bit busy but well worth a little bit of a wait. Everything was super fresh and we especially loved the cheese curds, they have the perfect bit of kick to them! Took the family here for lunch. My wife got the loaded chips, and she was dreaming about them afterwards. I had the smoked wings, and their house sauce with brown sugar and buffalo is fantastic. Staying here on vacation and found this great non-tourist local burger,pizza and beer "joint." My kind of place. Our waiter, Micheal, was outstanding he went out of his way for us on with a large group and tired kids. He even gave us some local info on what to see and do. What a find!! After a day in the Great Smoky Mountains (blissfully disconnected!) we stumbled out of the park right upon this burger/pizza place in Weaes Valley. Hubby and I both had the original smash burgers (double patties) with their homemade onion rings (worth the trip themselves!). Food was delicious, service was EXCELLENT and the staff all appeared to enjoy working there (singing while bussing tables, amazing ). We are staying at a short term rental property close to Sloppy Hog. I thought I would swing in and try it out. The burger, reviews and wing reviews all seem to be great, but I wanted to try their loaded homemade chips. They had pulled pork with barbecue sauce and jalapeños on top. It was hard to taste just the pulled pork, but the entire bite of chip, pork, BBQ sauce, and jalapeño was really good. I would recommend it. They brought the bill out, snapped under a rat trap. The food, service, and ambiance were SO GOOD, we came back 2 more times! We initially chose it because they allow dogs. They brought our pups a big bowl of water and almost all the employees that passed them, stopped to visit the pups. They also have a fenced-in area in the back where our pups could be off leash.
