My hubby and I spent the week in the Gatlinburg area; we stayed in an Airbnb off of Wears Valley Road. To avoid the crowds and tourist spots, we tried Sloppy Hog. The food, service, and ambiance were SO GOOD, we came back 2 more times! We initially chose it because they allow dogs. They brought our pups a big bowl of water and almost all the employees that passed them, stopped to visit the pups. They also have a fenced-in area in the back where our pups could be off leash. What a find!! After a day in the Great Smoky Mountains (blissfully disconnected!) we stumbled out of the park right upon this burger/pizza place in Weaes Valley. Hubby and I both had the original smash burgers (double patties) with their homemade onion rings (worth the trip themselves!). We walked in 30 minutes to close. Yes, we know that it's a huge faux pas in the industry. We are staying at a short term rental property close to Sloppy Hog. I thought I would swing in and try it out. The burger, reviews and wing reviews all seem to be great, but I wanted to try their loaded homemade chips. They had pulled pork with barbecue sauce and jalapeños on top. It was hard to taste just the pulled pork, but the entire bite of chip, pork, BBQ sauce, and jalapeño was really good. I would recommend it. They brought the bill out, snapped under a rat trap.
