Stopped at Peace Pies for one main reason, to see JP Alfred from the East Coast. JP is kind and friendly. We enjoyed the street tacos and nori nirvana which we ended with cheesecake, coconut crème pie and a MUST TRY TWIX! this is a MUST if you're in Encinitas and looking for Raw & Vegan option, it is so worth it!! . My family wanted to try something different and went here to check it out. They have a relaxing patio setup with a large mural and lots of plants. This place serve raw plant-based food so we were not sure if we are going to like it. We were impressed with exceptional explosion of flavors! We didn't expect that raw food can taste amazingly good!!!! We ordered Loving Lasagna, Magical Mango Curry Wrap, Mushroon Stroganoff, Bruschetta, and their Kale chips are sooooooo good!!!! Kids loved the loving lasagna and ordered strawberry tall cake and mint chip cheesecake desserts!!! All wraps were hand made from scratch with good raw ingredients! And guess what?! We found our favorite Local Roots Kombucha here! Win-win!!! Kudos and Thank You to chef and owner for opening and sharing such a great, healthy and unique place with amazing food! You will definitely feel all the love that has been put in making your food! They are also selling their cookbook, where they share almost all of the receipes of the restaurant (just checked and it is also available at Amazon). If you are plant based, vegan, vegetarian or just want to try something different, you definitely have to give this place a try! read more

Full disclosure - I am no vegan. While I eat vegetarian about 70% of the time, I can still appreciate a tasty burger or chicken kabob. Some friends and I intended to eat at Mozy Cafe on a Sunday evening but arrived to find it closed around 6pm. Next door is a tiny joint called Peace Pies. One of the guys finishing up his shift at Mozy Cafe told us the juice they make and sell at Peace Pies is great (spoiler: it is!), although he couldn't comment on the food. So we decided to try it out. There is a cute garden patio where we decided to eat, complete with succulents and various other plants dotting the atmosphere, and a string of outdoor lights overhead. Inside at the register, myself and a friend ordered mango curry wraps, my husband got the nachos, and my friend's wife ordered the nori rolls. For the kids in our party (age 2 and 4), we ordered a plain "cheese quesadilla." My mango curry wrap was delicious, with fresh vegetables and sweet mango slices. The veggies were wrapped with a large leaf thing (chard?), and then wrapped again in a coconut tortilla. However, I was really hungry before we arrived and unfortunately it was hardly satisfying. Not to mention this small-average sized wrap was $14! My husband liked his "nachos." My friend enjoyed her nori rolls although agreed that they were too small for the price. The kids "quesadilla" consisted of a coconut tortilla filled with cashew cheese, which they turned their noses up at. The "cheesy" kale chips served on the side were a nice idea, but way too dense and flavored. I make kale chips at home that are lighter, crispier, and taste better seasoned just with salt and pepper. Overall, Peace Pies has a good idea and are definitely in a prime location to succeed. I think bringing the price point down a bit would help immensely... or maybe I'm just cheap to not be willing to drop over $20 on my own casual meal :-) read more

The best vegan food! Great variety of entrees and desserts. Will definitely be coming back!

We went here for dinner and loved the whole experience. Normally when you order before getting a table you pay, but the staff insisted we pay after our meal. The honor system right off the bat was welcoming and set the mood for the evening. There were three adults and a toddler in our group. We ordered the kids avocado toast and fruit bowl as well as the mystical mushroom quesadilla, burger (blanking on the name right now), and the Cauliflower buffalo wrap. For desert we got the chocolate cheese cake. I am a recent convert to the vegan diet and this was my first experience with a raw restaurant. The food was beyond 5 star, absolutely delicious. I want to move to Encinitas just so I can go here more often. The entire staff were super friendly. Even though they were busy cooking and cleaning they took the times to smile and engage us in conversation. The atmosphere is great too. The passion fruit vine growing overhead with tea lights is a nice touch. Great place to read a book, talk with friends, or just chill. One thing to note the kids fruit bowl had a beautiful mango rose in the center of it. Never have I seen a restaurant put so much attention to detail into a kids meal. It was a nice touch and I appreciated it. I'll be coming back here again. read more

Great spot for ample vegan dessert options. Had the chocolate mousse pie and Twix bar. Both rich and delicious.

I came here with my mom based on her craving for a raw food and I'm so glad she introduced me to this gem. You walk in through an outdoor patio that's covered in passion fruit vines - super cool vibe - and then order inside. Small inside with a really mellow, laid back vibe. They have some stuff in refrigerators pre made to go and a pretty large menu of starters, entrees etc. The girl who took our order was very friendly, welcoming and knew the menu well. We ordered off the main entree menu and split the Peaceful Pizza and the Voltaire Street Tacos. I'd definitely have both again. My personal fave was the tacos but it was a close call. I'll be back!! Ohhh and be warned - passion fruits drop when ripe and I was almost taken out....but it was delicious ;) read more

Aweome menu, I've loved everything I've ordered. Unlike a lot of other vegan restaurants I've been in the area offering vegetable/ whole grain medleys (not bad but make the same thing at home), this menu offers a lot of ingredients that would take a lot of prep energy to make yourself (variety of nut cheese, special wraps, "tuna", kale chips). This is great because I'm trying something new each time I'm here. Patio is nice on a sunny day otherwise get takeout. If you are in a hurry call ahead because it does take a bit of time to get your food. It is also a but pricey but the quality is at a high level so I'll keep coming back. Staff is helpful and nice! read more

So yes this place has been here for a few years and I really haven't noticed it because it's behind another restaurant. I'm no way a vegan or even a vegetarian but I love food. Always up to try something different even though I have only had their strawberry shakes. The shake is so good I don't want to try anything else even though I should. One day I'll come in and get some some food. For now though I'm giving this spot a 10 star rating! read more

We like this location more than OB for the plethora of seating and easy street parking! Today we had the mystical mushroom quesadilla ($14), nori nirvana wrap (menu says $10, rang up at $12) and chocolate almond cake ($9). 5 stars for the quesadilla and almond cake! Both were exceptional! Minus one star for the price difference on the nori wrap - which was good but something I can make at home. Employees are super chill and the Encinitas location has a beautiful outdoor patio to enjoy the vegan epicure delights! read more

I never knew raw food tasted so good!!! As a lover of cooked vegan foods I was pleasantly surprised with Peace Pies' rawsome dishes and desserts! Their desserts are AMAZING. There's a reason they're called "Peace Pies"- they make the best raw vegan pies! I absolutely loved the Coconut Creme pie with Raw Chocolate pieces. OMG. So good !! For this I will give them 5 stars. Also their entrees fill you up, taste good, and make your body feel GOOD. Love the creative falafels made with cashew nuts and pizzas, also kale chips!! A bit expensive but that is understandable, since they use high-quality ingredients from farmer's markets. Keep in mind this is a self-service restaurant except if you request, they will serve the food to you but you still need to get the utensils yourself. They like to avoid using plastics to keep it green for that's another plus for me. :) Definitely coming back! read more

While I'm so so SO very far from being a vegan, I was in the area and wanted to eat something healthy. This place had a high rating so I thought, 'what the heck, let's try some vegan food.' There's a first time for everything right? Piece Pies is a little hard to find since it's tucked behind a fence and a outdoor patio, but there is a sign outside with an arrow pointing in. The place was completely empty as we walked through the patio to the inside. I guess vegan isn't exactly high on my fellow foodies 'to try' list. The menu looked simple enough and I wasn't looking for a full blown meal so my boyfriend and I got some sandwiches. The so called 'burger' ($9) and mock tuna ($9) were our choices. If we weren't going to get any meat, we might as well get something that tastes like it. The food comes out FAST, probably because there isn't really any cooking involved. The burger arrived on a flaxseed bun, with tomatoes and sprouts and a sundried tomato patty mixed with someotherstuffIforgetbecauseshesaiditallsofast. I gotta say it was pretty good. The mock tuna came the same way on a flaxseed bun with sprouts, and a mix of other things that made it taste like tuna but I don't remember what exactly. This one was also pretty good and somewhat reminded me of tuna. Both came with a side of kale chips which were surprisingly crunchy and delightful. You could definitely tell you were eating extremely clean. There's no gluten, no grease, nothing bad in it. Just straight up unprocessed food. For our first time trying vegan, it was a good experience, but I could tell that I wasn't exactly satisfied after my meal. I was full, but not the same kind of full I get from regular food. Not only that, but the food just burned through us, we were hungry again shortly after. For vegan food, it's good for what it is. I wouldn't mind having this from time to time for a healthy meal, however, I don't see myself crossing over anytime soon. Before we got there, I told my boyfriend we were going to some place called 'Piece Pies' and he thought we were going to a pizza place. Haha, a pretty good assumption from the name. Boy, was he surprised when we got there! read more

Holy crap this place was sooooooooo good. It took a long time to check this place out because of the name. For some reason I thought they only sold pies. To start we shared the Mediterranean plate as an appetizer. They hummus and sauce were delicious. We ate everything except for the olives but that was more of a personal preference. Anyway, I ordered the tacos and the man ordered their tuna wrap. I tried a bite of his wrap but I didn't care for it. He loved it though. The raw tacos however had so much flavor. The sauce they topped them with combined with the creamy guacamole gave the tacos a very rich flavor. We treated ourselves to their shakes for dessert and they were so rich and delicious. Almost a meal themselves. I had the strawberry and the man had vanilla. I'm not a HUGE raw eater by any stretch but this place does a real good job with it. The raw method gives the food a lot of flavor without being too heavy. I definitely recommend anyone in the area try this place out. The ONLY reason I dinged them a star was that the place could use a little detail cleaning. We had to sit at a dirty able and wipe it down ourselves. There didn't seem to be a big sense of urgency to wipe down the tables. Other than that though the service was friendly and the food was great. read more

I YELP for GOOD, not EVIL. Peace Pies Vegan, Gluten Free Restaurant isn't just good - it's out of this world! As someone who lives with food allergies and respects people's dietary restrictions, this locally loved establishment caters to my dairy-free, meat optional lifestyle. Here are a few of my FAVORITE THINGS Peace Pies, Encinitas, has to offer: PIES, PIES, PIES - OMG - PIES! You MUST try and try again...the coconut cream pie that is :) My favorite is the one with dark chocolate shavings MmmMmm Incredibly rich and delectable - the crust is the best! ($5/slice) LUNA TUNA WRAP Sunflower seed tuna pate with tomatoes, pickles, sprouts & honey mustard dressing. Wrapped in a coconut tortilla. Served with kale chips. ($14) --I think they also sell this a la carte for around $5, wrapped in chard leaves. Might try that next time because the wrap was big! The coconut tortillas are magical too :D LEGIT COLD BREW COFFEE Jupiter Cold Brew is one of my favorite treats. So tasty on a summer afternoon, and who doesn't need an extra kick in their step? --They also have kombucha :) I still have more exploring to do at this healthy restaurant in Encinitas, will likely check out the MAJESTIC MEDITERRANEAN WRAP - sprouted pea and lentil falafels, hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouts & cucumber dill sauce wrapped in a collard ($10) --or the -- AWESOME ALFREDO - zucchini linguini tossed with creamy cashew alfredo with chopped tomatoes & cheezy kale flakes 10 DEAR STAFF: See you next time guys, thanks for always being so kind & helpful! NOTE ABOUT PARKING: There are a few parking spots our front and on the street, otherwise you had better be a parking ninja and wiggle your way in where ever you can. Sometimes parking is OK in the dirt lot on the East side of the 101, just be ready for a quick jaunt across the highway :) read more

We have been wanting to check these guys out, since we see them at the farmers market every week. Well during our 5 week cleans, we finally gave them a shot and we found out that we been missing out. I am no vegan but I can see myself eating here frequently because food is just delicious. Two of us shared: - Falafel (faRAWfuls), a delicious, hearty raw vegan version of falafel that tastes (dare I say it) much better than the traditional fried version. - kale chips with cashew cheese - It tastes like sour cream and onion - Apple & fennel salad - Mock tuna wrap. Raw moch tuna sale made with soaked almonds and sunflower seeds, wrapped inside beautiful kale leaf. - Raw apple pie We did not feel like we ate that much but to my surprise I was FULL! Everything was top notch, although I think the apple pie was spiced bit heavy handed. But that might be my personal preference. Meat eater or not, everyone should give Peace Pie a try. Next time, I am getting the raw-violis! read more

Peace Pies - Kale chips with vegan cheese (cashews) - Vegan Near Me - Encinitas, California

I've been to the Peace Pies in OB quite a few times. And as much as I like it, Encinitas beat it! I love that this location gives you kale chips rather than dehydrated tomato chips with your meal. The Kale chips are so good that it is almost impossible to believe they are good for you. I have yet to figure out their seasoning profile. The quesadilla is my go-to. I tried the "hamburger" but I wasn't a fan. The mango wrap is okay, but I recommend the quesadilla, hands down. As for dessert, I have only had the cinnamon roll, but it was phenomenal! read more

I got the Mystical Mushroom Quesadilla with walnut meat for my first visit here and I was floored. Each bite is a total flavor bomb. If this is your first trip here I highly recommend it! The kale chips that come with are so satisfying. I also tried my friends mango coconut wrap. It's not as flavorful, but very light if that is your preference. We finished with the tiramisu, which was okay, not too bad! It does have a kind of noticeable coconut taste, but the texture is pleasant and the cake-y part at the bottom is very soft. read more

I am not vegan but my mom is so I was looking for a vegan place to grab some lunch on our way back to LA from La Jolla. I am so glad we found this place. This place is awesome. There are so many raw vegan options that are full of taste and color. I tried the street tacos which were nothing short of amazing. I also tried the mango wrap with curry which was not as tasty as the street tacos but it was still pretty good. For dessert I tried the brownie (also raw vegan). I've tried other raw vegan brownies in other restaurants but this one definitely wins. The customer service is just as good as their food. They were all very helpful and welcoming. If I'm in the area again I will return to try something else on the menu and another brownie! P.S. I have been wanting to try peace pies for so long. I had tried to go to the location in ob driving around and around until to my disappointment, i discovered they were closed for renovation :-(... then I found out there was a location in encinitas! YAY I went in today for lunch in the rain. Its a very small space with only a few two person tables inside and a roomier outside space, but it was all wet and rainy. I walked in a bit uncertain as they only had a few items on the menu. The guy working there was super friendly and told us they had ravioli as a special, and a regular customer told us the pizza was really good. My boyfriend got the pizza, I got 2 ravioli, they sell them by the single ravioli not by the plate, and a strawberry cheesecake. The portions looked small, and I thought I would be hungry still after but it was actually quite filling! The pasta part of the ravioli was made of jicama i think? and a nut filling and served with tomato sauce and basil. This is one of the most delicious pasta dishes I have ever had raw or not. It came with kale chips on the side that had something on top that tasted just like parmasean cheese. It was AMAZING. The pizza was also good. The crust was sesame with lots of veggies on top, tomatos, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, mushrooms etc. It was really really good too but the crust was so crunchy and hard to cut I thought the flimsy knife would bust. The cake was amazing as well. I have to say this is probably one of the best meals I have ever had. Everything is reasonably priced for raw food, around $5 a dish. I will DEFINATELY come back. I am salivating just thinking about the ravioli. Try the kale chips!!! Theyre magical! EDIT: I came in again today while I was driving in encinitas. THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I LOVE PEACE PIES! I got the tosdada, and it was $10 which seemed pricey but it was HUGE. It was the most delicious tostada I have ever eaten. Even better than my moms (shh dont tell her). I love how they use jicama in a lot of dishes, it gives it a delightful crunch. Today I saw a plate fly across the inside while I was sitting outside. I laughed because I kept imagining it happening to me while trying to cut through the raw flaxseed "tostada" with their flimsy silverware. I always leave here feeling full, but not fullllllll like bloated and ready to take a nap full, like im actually providing my body with healthy, raw fuel. read more

Did a little digging for vegan restaurants in Encinitas and found this little un-assuming place. We tried it and were pleasantly surprised. I'm not really a vegan/vegetarian/raw diet person, but good food is good food regardless. We had the mango curry wrap which everyone raves about. It was delicious! Also had the lasagna which was great. The only thing is that maybe it would be nice if the food was more room temperature instead of chill. Only raw food place in SD and thank mother nature its AMAZING. I've been going here a little over a year and I'm seriously grateful they're around. Both the OB location and Encinitas is worth checking out. Small but cozy and artistically designed with amazing vibes. Okay so the food, the foood the fooood. Lets start with apps, Falafal Balls or kale salad cannot go wrong with. Im obsessed with the caesar salad and this is NOT coming from my raw hippie opinion but from the foodie in me, I literally think its the best caesar salad I've had in my life. Plus it makes you feel good win, win! Entrees: Zucchini noodles (all flavors, cheezy, alfredo) raw pizza, a must have. Burger, litterally taste like a burger with pickles and ketchup (my boyfriend is obsessed) and one of my favorite dishes in all of San Diego- the mango wrap. I literally could eat one of these every day, no joke. It's sprouts, carrots, cucumber, avocado, and juicy mango slices wrapped in this chewy curry wrap (wouldnt even know it was raw its that well executed) with this mango dip that I could bathe in. A MUST have. Desserts- Did you know Desserts is Stressed backwards and let me tell you, if you're stressed these desserts heal all, literally say good bye to heart disease and diabetes with these unprocessed, organic, low-glycemic desserts. Donut holes are a special and anytime they're available, I buy them. JP's pies are award winning - literally. Everything from coconut creme, to berrylicious cheese cakes, to seasonal pumpkin pie. I always have a hard time choosing so I usually get two and then some raw chocolates that are healing and settle sweet tooth cravings. I usually will buy the chocolates as a gift too and people love them! Service: Be aware that everything is hand-crafted made to order, this is no fast food joint but with that being said they are by no means slow. They all know what they're are doing and are pretty consistent considering local produce changes and taste can very. I always go outside and get some vitamin D and call a friend from home. Relax I mean for goodness sake you're at PEACE PIES. I really don't understand how someone could leave here upset. Seriously. The fact that a place like this is even open is a blessing in itself. I think if you don't understand the food would be a reason to judge but please pick the staffs brains they are more than willing to help you understand why living food is tasty and can help out your body and the community. Also great little raw goodies, supplements and literature to help educate inside the store to buy. If you're looking to get into raw food Peace Pies is the place to start. I will forever be a lifetime follower, one of the few places that fills my tummy, heart and soul. read more
