Good spot for quick sushi and good dinner. It's pretty decent too! Staff was very helpful and sat us quickly. The food also comes out fast so we were able to eat at a good pace. I love the varied of sushi you can pick from. Decently priced too.

Decided to check this sushi spot based on the reviews and it was a good experience! Definitely AYCE menu and at a great price! Close to the pier and other establishments. Easy parking and friendly staff!

Chose DoorDash for this specific order but honestly, I was surprised how much we liked it here. I was a bit skeptical from other reviews, but for the price it was great. I'll be back to try in person.

After driving by this spot for years, I finally gave it a go after a night out and was not disappointed! The veggie tempura (especially the asparagus) was sooooo good. We loved all of our rolls especially the toro. I would probably pass on the miso soup next time as it wasn't as flavorful as I'd expect and it got cold quick. Would definitely recommend this spot especially for the late nighters.

I'll get right to it and the first thing that I absolutely hate is there was Zero prices on the menu. I included photos of two different menus which we'll see there was no prices. Apparently they were supposed to give us a piece of paper to make our Sushi selections on and that included the prices but we never got one of those and we did not even know about that piece of paper until after eating at the restaurant. My friend was not happy that she ordered two rules that were $19 each. And mine were about $14 each. She definitely would have ordered what I ordered if she had seen the prices. The service was also lacking. The hostess was great and she seemed very stressed I heard her say to one of the sushi chefs that two people called out. But then the other server and the hostess who was also serving occasionally we're both just running around and it seemed chaotic which was very disrupting to the guests. I used to come here all the time and now I rarely come here and I can see why. It is street parking only and there are meters out front. So if you don't want to pay for parking go to a side street.

Girlfriend and I had such a great dinner at PB Sushi! We ordered everything our server Sarah recommended and we were glad we came hungry! It definitely looks like they have been making changes as the place feels much cozier, with a relaxed vibe that makes you want to stay longer. We are planning on coming back this weekend after our beach day! Might need to call and reserve a table because they get busy! Definitely one of our new favorite spots in Pacific Beach.

salmon salad, seaweed salad. very pretty presentation.

our GO TO sushi spot, and we live a ways from it but the drive is worth it. we always get the same items from the menu and i LOVE it. we come here so often, our server sarah recognizes us every time we come back and that's always a nice feeling. it makes the experience more personable. she's always kind, and very attentive, but honestly, all of the servers are! our order is: gyoza garlic edamame salmon salad ceviche roll baja roll here and there, i always like to try out other items from the menu as well but will always go back to these items. would definitely recommend!

One of my favorite spots to order sushi from. I've been loving their salmon lemon roll - it's always fresh and never disappoints.

When I pointed out the issue, the waitress did not acknowledge her mistake and she said that we are ordering additional beer and karake. I also ordered a nine pieces of sushi but she served nine pieces of sashimi. We were party of five and everyone ordered two or three dishes on the menu so we thought that someone else ordered the sashimi. Actually no one ordered the sashimi and she forgot to bring sushi that I ordered. There were no apologies for the horrible services rather blaming us. For the food, it was edible but the quality was not good. Salmon belly sushi was not from belly. It had no fats. Baja roll had way too much lemon so I couldn't taste salmon or tuna. Chicken katsu sauce was way too salty.

Happy hour review: wed-sun 5-6:30pm…read more Stopped in to check out happy hour at a newish upscale sushi place in PB. This location has been a variety of restaurants over the years that don't seem to last. Cherryfish is pretty inside. Happy hour is offered at the bar or a sort of strange long skinny table in the middle. We sat at the bar which is way too high for the bar chairs. You literally feel like a child trying to sit at the grown up table. So odd. We were brought menus but then pretty much forgotten as the staff chatted and waited for the dinner rush. Eventually someone came over to take our order and we ordered the HH wine and a couple of appetizers. The food was brought out by the food runner without any plates, silverware or napkins. I had to bug the bartender/bar back for those. Then when the sushi roll came out I had to again bother them for chopsticks, soy sauce, dishes. He gave us one soy sauce dish to share, I guess. The food was ok, the roll was mostly vegetables with small pieces of fish on top. For a restaurant of this price point, I wouldn't return to try the full menu. The service just wasn't there, I don't want to feel like a bother to get basic things. Sad, because I wanted to like this place.

Out of the dishes I got -- hon maguro nigiri, ika with shiso nigiri, iwashi nigiri, nodoguro nigiri, zuke nigiri, himitsu roll, and himitsu sushi -- my favorite was surprisingly the ika with shiso nigiri. The ika was fresh and the shiso gave that sweet and delicate notes that did not disappoint. Although this was my favorite, all the other nigiris were also amazing as expected from a quality omakase place. Service was quick and friendly. Our server checked on us quite often. Chef mitsu also consistently made sure that we were enjoying the food and experience. The chef also gave his opinions on various fish and gave background to what fish he likes to select and suggest. We had a bento box, Himitsu roll (which was fishy), the sushi lover set and the soft shell crab appetizer. The soft shell crab was the best thing there but I could not even finish half of my sushi due to how rubbery and inedible the rest of sushi was. The rice also fell apart immediately prior to picking it up with my chopsticks. I tried to just eat the sashimi without the rice to not waste food but we couldn't. The Bento box included salad that wasn't cleaned properly and included sausages and a very small amount of fish as the main course. There were also bones in a lot of the fish & eel nigiri (which I haven't experienced before) When asked how things tasted I mentioned that the sushi was rubbery and I couldn't finish the rest. She offered me to take it home which I politely declined. We were then charged a 20% service fee bundled in as a tip and this was not disclosed when we initially sat down. This was not only one of the most expensive lunches but my mom & I ended up getting sick later on that night and should have left halfway through the meal. Needless to say we will not be returning. We had hoped they would offer some sort of price break or an exchange for something else but it was such a horrible experience we just wanted to leave. Such a slimey way to do business and not disclosing a mandatory service fee.

Service was solid, and it definitely feels like a "special occasion" kind of spot. The Wagyu burger, though, was a letdown. Amazing fries, but the burger itself was surprisingly bland--even with grilled onions and cheese. For $26-$28, the "Wagyu" label felt more like marketing than magic. I've honestly had more flavorful burgers at In-N-Out (animal style), which isn't a great look for a high-end burger. On the bright side, my wife's risotto was excellent--easy 10/10. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the risotto was rich and flavorful, and even the waitress said it's one of her favorite dishes (advice I should've taken). Bottom line: great atmosphere, good service, one standout dish--but skip the burger. I wouldn't go out of my way to return unless someone else was choosing.
