We found this way after taking a night walk around La Jolla. They did not have dedicated parking but there tends to be enough people coming and going that you can usually find a spot somewhere close. The street with a few restaurants is closed off at least at night. We have come here a few times. We had the Crunch Shrimp Roll (amazing), the Salmon Avocado Roll (small for the price) and the Miso Cream Udon with Shrimp and Scallops (worth the trip). We also, after the first time, ordered a side of white rice. It is a pro move. After you finish the Miso Cream Udon add the rice and it will soak up all of the goodness. Do Not Leave Any Cream Behind. They were busy so it took a bit for them to take our order but we weren't in a hurry. There is cool art on the wall and one made of cut wood blocks that may just be held together by gravity. Located a few minutes walk from La Jolla Shores, Sushi Mori offers casual indoor and outdoor seating. We stopped by for a spontaneous sushi lunch and ordered a couple of basic rolls to share which came with the standard soy sauce, wooden chopsticks and fresh ginger. Service was swift and friendly. My only beef was that the plastic water "glasses" were yellowed and old looking and should probably be replaced. Fresh and well prepared rolls, sushi, ramen and sashimi rice bowls. Friendly staff and efficient getting food/ orders to us. Plenty of indoor ( bit cold with air-con right at you ) dining but I think most customers ate outdoors located busy street. Good vibe. Parking is very limited so plan on that especially for dinner. Why was the salad in the Bulgogi bento box the best/most flavorful part of it... the rice was very dry and stiff somehow. Fried batter had no type of seasoning. This was so bland and disappointing as a whole. Sushi roll almost made up for it. I guess if you're going to come here, come here for the rolls. Go anywhere but here, unfortunately the Manager Dani is very rude and too busy to give you the time of day. Also if you have food allergies They can not accommodate and If you brought food of your own because they don't have food accommodations you're not going be allowed at the restaurant. I went with a party of 10 and was told to eat alone down the street even though we were all paying customers, seated outside. My daughter pick of the day. We didn't quite get sushi but we sure did op in on other amazing tasting food on the menu. Our server was very kind & did a wonderful job hosting us, always check in on us & recommended great items . We decided to dine in their outdoor seating . Steps away from La Jolla Shores, is this closed street full of restaurants and bars, and a spot we visited again was Sushi Mori! Everyone was so kind from the moment we got there! This is what we ordered: -sushi of the day $20 (as shown in the today's special deal) -unagi don $28 (first time ordering this and it was sooo good!) -chirashi $34 (got this last time and it still was just as amazing) -cherry blossom $18 (first time ordering this and it has spicy imitation crab, avocado, cucumber and on top is tuna, salmon, avocado with spicy mayo...would get this roll again!) If nothing else, you have to try the Fugu roll here, it's honestly one of the best rolls I've had. Every person I've brought so far has loved that one, it never fails. Other recommendations are the miso cream udon, and you can't go wrong with the sushi too. The broth is not as rich as I would like a ramen broth but it was still good and spice paste definitely improved it. It's not an uncomfortable type of spice so don't be afraid of it because it makes a huge difference: The service is friendly. They don't come around often so make sure you ask for everything you need when they do come around. It's only a few blocks from the beach and this spot offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is super friendly as well and was always checking up on us. The sushi is very good quality and exceptionally fresh! The fish just melts in your mouth. We got the oysters, salmon carpaccio, and various pieces of nigiri and it was all delicious! I tend not to under estimate restaurants at the Shores because I've never had a bad experience anywhere I've ate. This appears to be the only "Asian" restaurant in the area. TERIYAKI CHICKEN BENTO BOX ($19) - served with miso soup, salad, tempura, and rice. The miso soup first arrived and it was mediocre. Taste was there but it was soup without the good stuff and missinf tofu, green onions, and seaweed. But when the bento was delivered to the table it made up for the meh feeling about the miso. The bento box was huge and portions were generous - I had some left overs I took home. The rice was cooked well, the tempura was crunchy and yummy, the salad was the typical salad with Asian sweet-tangy dressing, and the teriyaki chicken was plentiful with a light coat of teriyaki on top. Not my favorite teriyaki sauce but it was still good. My cuts of chicken were tender - however I do wish they were browned a little more because I do like grilled charred edges and makes on my chicken teriyaki. Overall, this was a good bento box. don't go here if you have allergies and need accommodations. plus Danny, the manager was very rude. i went here with my family of at least 10 people. my partner has food allergies and they were not able to accommodate him so we brought food for him so we could still eat together. we had already ordered & were sitting outside with our food and Danny told my partner that he could not eat at the table because they don't allow outside food. he was told to eat alone down the street but we couldn't join him because we already had our food. Tried this due to amazing advertisement. Not coming back here though. The nigiri we ordered had fish bone that is comparable to shrimp tail size. Nothing special with the nigiri's except for the fish bone. It was hard to miss if you're eating it in my opinion. The foods are so-so except for the first photo. Everything was good and fresh, we got ikura, uni was a standout, ika was also superb, salmon skin salad was huge and tasty, hamachi collar, salmon belly sashimi also extraordinarily good, and hamachi sashimi, and also miso soup and let's not forget some really amazing cold sake by Kikusui but not the same old, it was Junmai dai gingo.
