Front sushi plate is Funion Roll!!

We are so happy we found this place. The fish is fresh and delicious!! Their sushi roll presentation was divine and flavors are next level!! Vegetarian selection is absolutely amazing!! The service was superb!! Really impressed with everything here and this is our new go to sushi restaurant

Solid sushi, reasonable prices, and such cute decor that you can tell lots of excitement and care went into. The service was quick and it's in a convenient plaza with Vons near the library. Ring of Fire Specialty Roll - Good spicy kick to it. Salmon is fresh and the combo was unique, crunchy, and satisfying, the jalapeño piece on top was a perfect addition. Spicy Albacore Specialty Roll - Exactly what I expected, if you want a good tempura-albacore roll, they got it! A great neighborhood sushi spot, thank you!

Came here on a Friday night. This is located at the strip mall on Governor where Vons is. We got a table right away. Price is pretty reasonable. We ordered the hamachi kama. It was a little undercooked. But the serving was pretty big. It came with rice. We also ordered the $70 boat. It was a pretty good size and thought it was too much for 2 people. Sashimis were pretty thick sliced. Pretty decent in taste. Will definitely come again even thought it's not the best sushi place I've been to.

I've driven by this little strip mall many times whilst doing my errands at Rite Aid, Vons or the laundry mat. Just never went in until today. We came for lunch and left full and happy. Courteous prompt service, visually appealing food that leaves your tastebuds wanting more. I ordered the teriyaki salmon rice bowl. The only thing I needed was extra sauce, which they brought out in an extra dish. Daughter ordered sushi and the mango crunch roll. I tried a bite of the mango roll. The combination of mango, krab, shrimp, sauces and avocado really paired well. I would order this again. I look forward to more lunches here and trying more menu items. Plenty of parking out front, plus some extra in the back.

Chicken Udon

Came here for some chicken udon. The bowl lasted me two meals. The chicken was very flavorful and grilled. There were lots of vegetables and the soup base was delicious.

A great spot if you want some sushi. Sashimi was on point and fresh. We ordered the yakisoba as well, which was a good choice. Food and service was excellent. Great find by the wifey.

I already ate half the slices, but it was a Chirashi bowl with all fish, no ebi/tamago (which I personally prefer)

Been here twice and the service has always been amazing. Ate in restaurant by recommendation and was very impressed with the sushi variety. They had a good balance of their own original rolls and also the standard popular rolls with some fresh takes that I appreciated. Fish is portioned well and tastes nice and fresh! I loved the restaurant interior, it's super cozy and filled with Japanese paraphernalia, from an entire gunpla and anime collectible display, to lovely little posters about sushi and cats. Ordered a modified Chirashi-don today to go because I have an allergy to avocado and they totally accommodated my request for imitation crab as a substitute and the size of the dish with the freshness of the dish totally complimented each other and was totally reasonably priced (which I am learning is rare in San Diego) also the chirashi selection was all fish, so that's an auto 5 stars in my book too lol. Keep up the great work guys, I will absolutely go out of my way eat here again.

Their food seemed really good until she rang me up for the cost. I paid like $50 for a chicken bento box, edamame, and one sushi roll

As a life long vegetarian I love the ability to go to a restaurant not traditionally vegetarian and still have multiple options while not losing out on flavor. About a year ago, some friends want to try the food out here and I was pleasantly surprised to see how much it had improved! So imagine my surprise where I came in this evening and was completely floored with how abysmal it has somehow become again with only the last few months. The service has been insultingly, rude; we had a talk with our server and even pass along a compliment, it was shocked with how unkindly they responded. Every single item of the menu has been absolutely terrible; the sushi was a quarter of the size it usually is and tastes terrible, the edamame is cold and feels like it was scraped off the floor, and the karaage chicken is now covered in a glaze that is making our stomachs absolutely sick. And the food is even more expensive than it was before! I absolutely do not want to pay for any of this and it makes me sick to my stomach to have wasted our time here this evening.

I got the shoyu ramen, chashu rice, and a cold oolong tea. The ramen was fine in texture and al dente. The broth was flavorful, without being oversalted. I was very impressed by the chashu: it was carefully cooked and just melts in your mouth. Extra tender. The oolong tea really hit the spot too. The food came quickly, and service was good. I just came back from Japan last month, and this place in San Diego did not disappoint. I would definitely come back again to try their other items. Sorry no pictures this time, as I was famished. The serving was a bit smaller than what we are used to when we order ramen but overall we enjoyed our dinner and our 9 year old gave it a 6/4 stars. Service was very nice once we were seated and the wait for the food was not bad. It is a really cute place, feels authentically Japanese inside, but also authentically small, so I recommend reservations for a larger group: we were a party of 7 on a Saturday evening around 5:30 with no reservation and we had a wait of around 40 minutes. Definitely worth trying at least once.

I have been to Ramen Nagi in the Bay Area, and liked it, so I knew I was going to like this…read morelocation as well. My recent favorite has been their Black King (black garlic and calamari ink in a silky broth with chashu, black minced pork ball, black sesame, and Nagi spices). I added a soft-boiled egg and extra mushrooms. Aside from ramen, their chicken karagee is also very good -- crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside. Even though I was full from the ramen, I still ended up having stuffing myself with the chicken karagee.

My husband and I have been here several times before as it is both mine and my husband's favorite ramen eatery in San Diego. This is the best ramen in San Diego. After going on my own little ramen crawl around SD, this is the top of them all, bar none. If you really are craving something close to ramen in Japan, try this place. Everything is fantastic here but my favorite of all the ramen choices is the Red King (the spicy tonkotsu). The Black King is also good (squid ink) and has a nice umami punch to it with a good helping of garlic to seal the deal. The karage (fried chicken) is great as well. The texture is perfect and I think the sauce provided really added to the overall bite. The gyoza is also fantastic as well and they provide a dipping sauce that is not the standard dip but something better. If I recall, it is a lightly sweet pear-esque sauce with the consistency almost like apple sauce. It's very very good, don't knock it till you try it! The service is always quick and top-tier. They always have a jug of water with lemon slices and cups available to use at any time. Seating is both indoors and outdoors. Inside it can be a little cramped if you have a large group but outside has full tables next to the pond which is quite nice. This is not a traditional restaurant so there are a few things to keep in mind: 1) There are no reservations. 2) There is a dedicated queue outside and you need to wait in that to line to be seated. 3) They will not take you to be seated until your entire party is readily available so just be cognizant of that. 4) Everyone in your party will receive a red marker and a paper form to fill out your individual orders while you are in this line. If it is your first time, check the Chef Recommendation box at the top to make it easier. Sides are at the bottom (most ramen do not include an egg so if you want an egg make sure to mark it). 5) Your party may be seated at the same table as another party and share the space. If this is an issue for you, sit outside. 6) You get your receipt from your sever and pay at the register.

That said, the waitress we had was very kind and attentive, and the food was decent, so we decided to give the place another try. After a long day at Legoland, we returned around 6pm and I had called ahead to make a reservation for four. The person on the phone took my name and number, so I assumed we were all set. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't even full, but no one greeted us for several minutes. Eventually, a waiter came over, and when I mentioned our reservation, he seemed confused and said they don't take reservations for parties under six. I tried to explain that someone had taken my information over the phone, but he interrupted me multiple times and didn't let me finish. He then walked over to another group behind us and asked if they were there first, even though we had arrived before them, which was frustrating. We were eventually told there was space available at the bar seating (bar stools) instead of a table. At that point, we were tired and hungry, so we accepted. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve. The waiter seemed rushed and disorganized--he couldn't remember our order and had to ask us which dish belonged to who when the food came out. As for the food, it was okay but not memorable. My ramen was just average--the pork was dry and the egg was overcooked. Overall, the food is decent, but the service really needs improvement. This particular waiter clearly needs more training, or possibly a different role, as the level of service did not meet basic expectations for a restaurant. Our second visit left a bad impression, especially since it was our last night in San Diego. Sadly, we won't be coming back.
