This was THE worst experience I have had with landscape/irrigation people in the 20 years I have been in my house. It is not the work itself that was the issue, but the cost, which was ridiculous. There were a couple of old, cracked pvc pipes in the front garden bed, and my partner and I had done a lot of digging to locate the exact bits of pipe that needed replacing. These spots were completely exposed and pointed out to the workers--in a hole about 4 feet long and 2 feet wide. So what was needed was a few short lengths of pvc to replace the old bits, then filling in the hole. How were three guys going to find anything to do there for four hours--in a hole barely large enough to allow two guys to work it? At first, the office person claimed that they charged $137/hour--the number changed when the number of guys went from two to three. It would be laughable if it it weren't so dishonest. So, according to their invoice it took 3 guys four hours each to do this work. At $67.50 an hour. It is ridiculous-- and of course, not true. The guys were there for about two hours. It was also fascinating that the office waited nearly a month to bill this, so the memory of it would not be fresh and they could claim whatever they wanted. Please note: if you decide to work with this company, get everything firmly documented before and after the work. Take photos. Because the bottom line is that these people are not honest, if our experience is any guide. read more

Our home and most of our landscaping burned in the 2017 Tuubs fire. We were left with .75 acres of land with almost no plants. We hired Paz to bring back the greenery to our yard. Omar's team executed our Landscaping plan beautifully installing over 600 plants and 57 trees in about 3 weeks. The job included DJ paths, irrigation, rock and mulch installation, and clean up of overgrown plants. Omar was dependable and easy to communicate with. He was very dedicated to satisfying us as customers. He adapted to subtle change to the plan as we saw the landscaping installed. We live in an area where we had to fireproof our landscaping. We had the flammable bushes and plants removed but needed a landscape designer to help select plants. Omar was receptive, helpful, reliable, responds quickly and had reliable, a hard working crew. I was really blown away by the decorative rock boarders around the gravel and tanbark. It pays to discuss and meet ahead of planting to be sure the plants are what you asked for. We found time of year and availability of some plants was an issue. There were a couple plants that did not work in the design or were much smaller than I envisioned, and Omar quickly found new ones. Really bad. Wood was delivered and they did a fence. Fence started warping right away and owner said it was because wood delivered was bad and he saw that before he did fence. Well why did he do the fence if he knew the delivered wood was bad? Why not tell us so it could be taken up with the delivering lumber company. He claimed he just built fence as requested. Took no responsibility for putting up a fence with wood he saw was bad. Said we should have had him pick up the wood. He would not have used it. Didn't mention any of this before or during building. He's the "professional" not me. Real bad ethics. Highly discourage anyone from using someone who passes the buck and doesnt stand up for his work. read more

I met with both of them at our family property and Omar was hands-down the best. I'm so glad I found Omar on Yelp. He and his team did the seemingly impossible: they transformed our "70s paradise" into a beautifully landscaped home in just 3 short weeks! We recently moved into a home in Sonoma and the tons of multi-colored rocks and topiary bushes left by the former owners were not exactly our taste ;) Despite it being a holiday weekend, Omar returned my call right away and came by for a free assessment and quote. I immediately connected with him and was excited to get started pretty much immediately (I can't even begin to tell you how much I hated those damn rocks!) Omar was able to get started right away and once his team hauled out the rocks and topiaries, he helped me envision the layout for our driveway, front yard and side yards which included a new sprinkler system, sod, stone pathways and what plants would work best where. When I told him I needed the project completed in 2 weeks, he looked shocked but to his credit, he completed it professionally, beautifully and with a few days to spare! Omar Paz is a gentleman and a good businessman, and he can do whatever you want done. In fact, his business should change its name from Paz Landscape, to Paz We Do Anything And Do It Well Company. I've worked with him for the last 3 years, I own a 4plex and a SFR in Santa Rosa, and from the first day Omar did brilliant work, and had lots of very useful suggestions (since I'm very NOT into doing landscaping or building work myself). He removed an 80-foot oak tree near the 4plex, totally rebuilt a bathroom and shower in one apartment, laid laminate flooring, installed brand new windows after taking out the moldy and rotten old ones, and landscaped the 4plex (see picture of the walkway above). He removed the old cracked and dangerous sidewalk and driveway and put in plants and nice-looking gravel and stone pathway, and the plants are on a timer. Paz Landscape comes by once or twice a month to make sure everything still looks amazing. At the single family residence, Omar put in a drought-resistant front yard, and took out old dead plants in back and replaced them with other pretty plants (I don't know anything about plants, either !). Omar even helped me evict a tenant who spoke only Spanish (another thing I don't do). He's a go-getter and his whole crew is talented, fast, and accurate. The balcony on the 4plex needed repair when I bought it (it had a complete auto engine sitting there leaking oil. After Omar's crew was through, you could never tell the engine had ever been there, and the balcony looked almost new ! The only thing he has not done is install the garage doors because I hired a specialist for that, but I bet he could do them also if asked. I would recommend Omar Paz to anyone looking to have Anything done to their house, in fact, Omar has done extensive remodeling and landscaping work at my home also. read more

Rencently the steps in our backyard leading to the upper level, rotted out and were in need of repair. The border of the steps were rock and cement which we wanted to keep. Omar Paz came to give me an estimate and he assured me he could match our existing steps border with the same type of rock and cement for the actual steps. We also needed a pathway from the steps to the patio because the dogs were contantly tracking in mud. We discussed a few stone options. The next day he emailed me an estimate. It was quite a bit lower than some other local landscapers. We made arrangements for the work to be completed in 1 day and it was. They were on time, curteous and the steps and pathway came out looking better than I ever imagined possible. Had a difficult time dealing with Omar last year. Hired him to landscape my backyard. Honestly, the work was terrible and really made me feel like I got taken advantage of. Asked him to put some stone steps in, and not knowing, went with his suggestion of using "field stone." It looked horrible, just rocks from my yard pounded into the ground/dirt in the form of steps. I had to ask him, "Does this look like any of the stone steps you advertise on your website?" Omar said it didn't, but charged me extra to re-do it and place better stone. I refused to pay him the rest of the money until he fixed the grass that he put in, it died everywhere he dug to put in the sprinkler system. He finally came weeks later and placed some new grass. I'm still having problems with the grass dying because I was told there was no topsoil placed around the edges of the lawn, making it hard for it to grow. Some other issues with his worker's shoddy carpentry facing off my deck added on to the pile of crap that I had to deal with. Hate writing bad reviews, but beware of Paz Landscaping. read more

OUTSTANDING !!! My initial telephone inquiry was returned the very same day by Omar Paz, who scheduled a consultation at our home the next morning. Not only was Omar attentive to our needs and concerns, but he provided us with a fair bid within 24 hours. After our home had been broken into a week prior, there was an urgency for us to increase our security measures and installing low-voltage lighting throughout our property was part of a 4-prong approach in doing so. In January 2018 I used Pax to do simple grading in my backyard and then to add seed for grass. The grading job was adequate but the seeding results were unacceptable. I have a large bald area. I asked Omar to have his guys to add seed to the bald patch. He refused unless I pay him more money. We had agreed on an upfront price for the job which I paid. I do not think it is ethical to charge a customer additional money to complete an unsatisfactory job. read more

The owner arrived an hour and a half later than scheduled(with not phone call). The repairs to my irrigation system were short lived, when the next day an entire line of sprinklers didn't work. His fence and irrigation repair was corrected by a professional that I hired, after his promise to return never happened. He arrived expecting to work, but never brought along any water and had no problem asking me bring him some throughout the afternoon. He charged me $100 for parts that cost $60 at Home Depot. You know, I value Yelp as a true testiment to quality before buying-of work, food, what have you. That's why when helping my then boyfriend look for landscapers to transform his backyard, I looked for the ones with the highest stars & best looking pictures, treatments, website, etc. I came across Paz here on Yelp & his ratings were high, we liked the testimony, pictures, he came to our house & gave us a great price & guarantee of work...and that was probably the last positive experience we had. Once we agreed to hire him, we never saw him actually work on our yard, it was always his workers, when they decided to show. Between calling to ask when they'd be back & the shoddy work they did on refacing our deck, building a harden box, & laying sod, some of which still doesn't grow in areas, I read the 5 star reviews & really just want to ask, "Seriously? Why us?" We paid good money for broken off shams in our deck? And dying sod that was laid on rock? And a garden box that floods when it rains because it wasn't built to drain properly? Not fair. And NOT 4.5 stars worth of workmanship or quality. This is the only time I've felt deceived by Yelp. I'd never recommend this guy to our worst enemies. read more

My fence buckled within days, gate was crooked again within a month (which was why I had it replaced in the first place). He claimed it was because I had the wood delivered to my home. If he brought it for an extra cost, he would have inspected the wood first. My question was if the wood wasn't good why didn't you tell me before you built a fence and gate. You just took what you considered not perfect wood and used it without even mentioning that it wasn't that great? Then charged me for the fence?All I did was order the wood to your specs and had it delivered. The whole deal was not done well. I would never use them again, nor recommend them.
