Unfortunately this company did not work out for us. The owner showed up on time to go over what we wanted done and to ensure he could do maintenance after the initial cleanup. He didn't take any notes, just agreed with what we were asking. Didn't give us time on when he would return just a day. He and 1 other person came, didn't let us know when he got there or left but thinking he was here about 1.5 hours. He only did part of the work requested in 1 out of 4 areas needing clean up. Didn't hear anything the next day so called and a female answered. I asked when he was coming back and she said 2 weeks for maintenance. As mentioned, this is NOT what we requested nor was the job completed! Sent him $ for the 1.5 hourshe did work and will continue to look for a professional gardener/landscaper. We most certainly did discuss initial cleanup including cleaning up all the leaves, trimming the overgrown plants, pulling some of them out completely, asking for your opinion on replacement plants AND we told you several times that we understand the upfront cleanup is going to cost more than the maintenance! Truly don't want to get in a "he said she said" issue. Just giving a truthful review. Wish you luck in the future! read more

So a couple of months later...I started to notice a lot of weeds and grass poking up from under the rocks they put down. I noticed they didn't put down a weed barrier first. Now did I request it? No, so that's my fault. But I'm not a gardener. Wouldn't it make sense for them to recommend it, or ask if I wanted that? It's a pretty basic step...and again, not something the customer should have to think about. Now I'm stuck figuring out how to control the weeds and grass, preferably without Roundup. Maybe they were hoping I'd call them for regular maintenance? read more

On a recent visit to Petaluma, I wanted to help my daughter and son-in-law find someone to do a major cleanup on their property (front and back.) They opened a book and game store in town and as small business owners are spending most of their time in the store! Jose Farias came out within a day or two of my call and scheduled a time to return later that week. He did an excellent job on getting the yard into presentable and manageable shape. He also hauled away a lot of stuff that had accumulated on the property. Jose is now maintaining the yard on a bi-weekly basis until they are able to re-landscape. We found him to be professional, personable and easy to work with. AND, Ellie, Jenn & Ross's little shihtzu is no longer getting lost in the weeds! read more

I was looking into changing out our grass given that 1) it was poor quality, 2) we didn't water it because of that and 3) the gophers and weeds took over. Fast forward to having a 1 year old that can walk and that deserves a nice backyard to play...Team Farias has given us just that. Communication is clear from start to finish, responses are prompt, and the advice of watering, etc. is greatly appreciated. I recently bought an investment property here and after such a long process purchasing a home, the property located in Santa Rosa, CA needed a detailed clean up and routine maintenance to give the property the upkeep it deserved. I came across Farias Gardening, reached out via phone and spoke to a lady who was super nice and friendly! She told me that Jose would come out to the property do an initial assessment to see what I am requesting is feasible and sure enough Jose was there the next day on such short notice, wow! We met, discussed my vision for the property and Jose provided excellent service cleaning the excess weeds, getting the garden under control planting new flowers and trees and for the value of doing this larger project? It is unbelievable! Called on Thursday afternoon about a sprinkler which was stuck in the on position. Spoke with Claudia who was very nice and stated that Jose Would be over around 5:30 that day. I was totally impressed, however she called and said that Jose would be late..Well he never showed up or called so I called them the next morning, Friday, had to leave message.. called 2 more time during the day with no return call.. I would think that during this pandemic that businesses would be happy for any job..I am very patient, but not to even receive a return call is not courteous at all. Thus, sorry to say, I do not recommend Farias Gardening....and this could have led to repeat business as I am older with a bad back and am unable to do these repairs as in the past..Thank you for letting me vent..FG Hench read more

Jose has been doing a five-star job with maintaining my garden every two weeks for the last 7 years. Along the way he has also helped with other jobs: he has removed old shrubs, the new grass he installed in my front yard is thriving, he planted an apple tree which gave me apples last year, he has planted many gorgeous rose bushes, installed a watering system, replaced hoses that my kids ruined and all with a big smile. He is trustworthy and reliable but most importantly he has a very green thumb and really knows how to make things grow! I highly recommend Jose. José is the best gardener I have ever had, and I've had many over the last 20 years. You simply can't go wrong with José. He's an extremely hard worker, he does a fabulous job, and he is scrupulously honest. And his prices are totally reasonable. He has been doing my front yard and backyard for years. I have a variety of plants, native and non-native, including irrigation, all put in by the previous owners of my property who cared a lot about plants. I completely rely on José to take care of it, and he does a great job. The place looks great and I don't have to do anything except pay a very modest amount to José and he does all the rest. José will go out of his way to help you out. I have had many bad gardeners, many who overcharged, many who didn't come around often enough, many who didn't do a good job, many who didn't care, who were just trying to get as much money out of me as they could while doing as little work as possible. José is the exact opposite. He cares about doing a good job, he has a sense of excellence, he does not overcharge, and he's just the sweetest guy. When you see him he's always smiling and he always has a good attitude. He is a pleasure to interact with. And he is also totally happy to do special jobs. I had a tree in front of my house that was very overgrown and was dropping spiny, sticky stuff everywhere and driving me crazy. I mentioned it to José and within a week or two he had completely trimmed it. He climbed right up into the tree and trimmed it way back, and now it's no longer a problem at all. And the price that he charged was very reasonable. You could not ask for better gardener. read more
