We also needed a self closing spring added on the gate because we have a pool. They come out to review the job and provide me with a quote. The job started three days later and my husband is so pleased with the results. The gate now has heavier and adjustable hinges in addition to a heavy duty latch. No more staging. The team they sent out were professional and did an excellent job cleaning up. They drilled a new whole in the pavement to accommodate us keeping the lager gate open and painted all their work. Folks at the company are really nice, but it was a real struggle to (1) get my sliding gate operator replaced at all and (2) have the replacement working consistently at the same level as my previous, 20-year-old, operator. Our original operator was solar- & battery-powered, which we wanted to keep. Expert Gate Company chose to install a solar-compatible model, rather than a solar-first model. This new operator has been set up not-according-to-specifications three times: incorrect battery capacity, then incorrect solar panel voltage, and finally incorrect solar panel wattage. Each such deviation from the specifications requires another scheduling headache. Scheduling was a consistent issue for this job; "our guys will be there tomorrow", only for them to no-show... and then they show up without warning the next day (sometimes a weekend). The three stars are because they did keep coming out to fix the problems, and eventually the gate was made functional. All in all, I think this is a good company that struggles if taken outside of their comfort zone, and solar installations are clearly outside of their expertise. Having now had to do a lot of my own research about gate operators, I think I could have DIY'd this job in a quarter of the time and cost---although it would have been uglier at the end. read more
