So this is going to be a rather long review. There were a couple of hiccups along the way to getting my roof replaced, but in the end, Payne/Integrity Roofing did a great job on my roof. I can't overstate how the two installers went above and beyond. They not only did a stellar job of the install, they kept the site clean, and offered extra help as well. But... there is a saga here. My insurance company, who will NOT be getting a nice review, demanded that I replace my entire roof. After having a number of different companies over to see the job, I got estimates which ranged from around 5,000 to over 10,000. This is a 709 square foot house, just a simple roof. The house was built in 1963, so I expected there would need to be some lumber replaced. Payne Roofing was not the cheapest, they were right in the middle, but because of the way they answered questions, and their knowledge, they were the company I decided to go with. Now for the first hiccup: The finance company they use is called ProFund. Steer clear! They offered me "financing" with a 10% charge added to the job, and then 10% annually (I was planning to refinance this along with a few other projects). What they didn't tell me is HOW they were getting the funds. They required my checking account information. Next thing I know, they went in and EMPTIED MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. So they could lend MY OWN money back to me with interest! After a few phone calls, I got my money back, and Payne, who had received the down payment from ProFund actually hand delivered the refund check to me the next day. Do not use Profund. Do. not. A few months later, I got the financing to do the roof, and called them up. The job price was the same, minus the 10% additional charge. The two installers were professional, polite, outstanding, they helped me move some stuff, and for an additional fee, the company allowed me to get rid of some construction stuff in their dumpster. When they saw me moving it, they insisted on helping me. They were awesome. Now to the second hiccup. I drove in and saw that they were installing the wrong colored shingles. I called up the company, no drama, no problem, they admitted it was a mistake on their end, and with just a day of delay, the right shingles were on the house. They installed a vent at the peak of the roof, and did a great job with the flashing and edging, it all looks really nice. There were additional charges for the lumber that had to be replaced, but none of it was unnecessary, and the cost was reasonable. They sent me photos of the roof and the job they had done, and now we get to the third and last hiccup: Me. I looked at the pictures of the shingles, and on many of them a black line at the top of the shingles was visible. I had just enough knowledge to be dangerous in this situation. I thought that if you install shingles, and a black line is visible, you have done the job wrong. I also thought the way the roof penetrations were done was wrong. I was very rude and upset when I called. OK. I admit it... I may have... well I did. I Karened. In my defense, however, I have gotten ripped off quite a few times, and I was in a panic because of the Insurance Company That Shall Not Be Named. They were threatening to not renew my homeowner's insurance if the roof wasn't completed. The deadline was within 2 weeks, and here I had convinced myself that the roof was not done correctly, and not only was I going to have the house damaged the next time it rained, there would be no insurance to cover anything. I have a friend who is in the construction business looked at the photos, and explained to me that yes, just as Mr. Payne had told me, (and I had doubted him), that's what they are SUPPOSED to look like. He also mentioned that Payne has been around for years, and among other professionals, they have a good reputation. He also looked at the pictures of the treatments of the penetrations on the roof, and said they were fine. I called up Payne Roofing and apologized. So, I would recommend this company in the strongest terms. They went above and beyond, their prices were fair and reasonable, the workmanship was good, and when there were bumps in the road, they handled them. They were responsive and polite even when, I have to admit it, I wasn't. You can trust these guys. read more

Very poor customer service, Kasey cannot help even though she is the customer service rep. She directed me to speak directly with the roofer instead. They scheduled a repair we did not authorize and we had to call to cancel, they said it was due to some error on their part. They charged $150 for an inspection which is not standard practice, especially when the roof is under warranty. We are hoping to resolve this issue but I do not recommend this business due to their poor communication. read more

The most amazing thing happened to me today! I was securing estimates for a minor roof repair, which entailed reshuffling ceramic tiles after wind damage. Roofer Chris arrived early and quickly accessed the damage and offered to fix it prior to the other roofers arrival. I thought OMG that would be perfect. While on my roof readjusting tile, I forgot to ask what the estimate for the repair would be. Feeling overwhelmed and worried about the cost, Chris rang my doorbell and said that he'd completed the work. I asked, what is the cost, and he replied, nothing. He told me that my roof is in excellent condition and he didn't feel comfortable charging anything that only took a few minutes to do. Needless to say, I was in tears...what a tremendous blessing Chris & Payne Roofing have been for me and my family. We've had quite a few medical emergencies this year that have taken their toll. We hired Payne Roofing to repair a leak in our roof. They were initially very responsive and professional. When our leak persisted, they came out again. Christmas Eve it rained and the roof leaked yet again. I left a message and sent a text to the number on their recording and did not receive a response. I continued to call and text and received no response. I have kept a log of all of the times I have tried to contact them via email, phone and text. Of the numerous contacts I have made, I have received 3 responses, all saying they would get back to me. Not the same company I used for my new roof in 2017. At that time I worked with Jason Payne, the company was called Payne and Sons. Jason was a pleasure to work with. Fast forward 6 years, new company, Jason is no longer with Payne and Sons, probably my first red flag. This time we had an issue with our back patio roof. Ira came out, said that Payne and Sons had bought Integrity roofing. He looked at the patio, took photos, sent me an email the next day on the scope of work and cost. I agreed and he had me contact the office to schedule the work. They wanted 50% down before they would put us on the schedule. I paid the 50%, then received an email that we were scheduled for the Friday at 10am. That was the last time I heard from Ira. My wife took the day off from work as I could not. 10:00am rolls around, nothing, my wife calls me at 10:15am, no one there, at 10:30 I called the office, they said the crew was delayed and our job would be pushed back to 2-3pm. Not happy about this but I said ok. Already losing confidence. I call my wife to let her know. 3pm comes around and still no one. I call the office again, the crew is on the way. At 3:30pm my wife goes into our kitchen and sees someone in our backyard and gets freaked out. She then sees a ladder and assumes it is the roofing "crew". She goes out and sees a very skinny man that looked like he was not doing well working in the heat, my wife offered him water but he declined. Not sure why they do not come to the front door letting the homeowner know they are there? This one man was the "roofing "crew". He told my wife it would be a 3 hour job. My wife looks into the backyard at 5:00pm, the "crew" is gone. No communication with my wife that he was finished with the project. We did not know if he finished or was coming back. Did not hear back from Payne and Sons until Monday when i checked my email and Payne and Sons wanted the final payment. Never heard back from Ira either. Typical salesman. Unbelievable poor customer service. I am worried that the work was done poorly as the one man crew finished in less half the time that he said it would take. It is safe to say we will not be using Payne and Sons again and no more referrals either. read more

I did not do direct business with this company but we had a job at the same location on the same day & our vehicles were parked across the street & ended up full of overspray because the workers were spraying foam on a windy day.. the stuff doesn not come off the vehicles ran it through the car wash several times. We spoke with the company one day & they were going to send a mobile detailer out however we were told by another detailing company that the vehicles needed to be taken to an auto body shop.. when we called to let Payne roofing known this 3 days later they said " WE ARE NT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANYTHING, YOU HAVE TO PROVE IT WAS MY GUYS THAT DID IT" . so in 3 days they went from taking enough responsibility to send a mobile detailer out to not being responsible anymore.. Thats a GREAT (sarcasm of course) way to do business or run a company.. If they cant take responsibility for the employees actions what happens when they do something wrong on your roof.. read more

They preformed a paid inspection which was required by my lender for a house I am buying. Inspection was done quickly and received the same day. Here comes the trouble: The report was not signed (which was required by my lender). So I gave them a call and they said they would reach out to the person who did the inspection and they asked if I wanted to schedule repairs. I decided to use a different roofer to do the repairs and at this point I was told that they will NOT sign my report if they weren't the ones doing my repair even though I paid them for the inspection. Incredibly unprofessional using my inspection hostage so they could make more money. read more

Yelp says it best: "Eek! Methinks not". This review is not so much about their roofing - but their aggressive, unsafe driving on the Arizona freeways (particularly the 202 and 101 freeways in the east valley). I think the name of their business says it all. Picture this - Monday morning commute to work, and the truck speeds by super fast. It's the end of rush hour, but traffic is still stop and go. You see them later on the freeway frequently braking, and swerving from lane to lane. You of course are cautious "paynestakingly" so - not wanting to be sideswiped. Taking a better look at the vehicle - you wonder how they get away with the window tinting on the vehicle. Highly doubtful that the super dark tint on the windows complies with Arizona's tint laws. Seems impossible that 33% of light is allowed into the truck. With that being said, why would one hire someone to work on their home when they have such a disregard for others, and driving laws? If it was possible to give ZERO STARS I would. I will just let the pictures tell the story. When we complained about the work being sloppy and even incomplete it took a week of pestering them to get a crew to the house to address our concerns. Bad communication. Then the foreman got frustrated with my wife (she was still unhappy with the excessive use of caulking) and said some inappropriate words in Spanish... not knowing that she understood. If you don't mind expensive sloppy work and poor communication then these are the guys for you. read more

Payne installed the roof on my house six years ago while owned by someone else. Now the roof is leaking right in the middle near no penetrations and in order to honor their ten year warranty they want $500 for a transfer fee. They did faulty work and they are using "technicality" to refuse to correct it. read more

We used Payne Roofing in 2013 and they did an excellent job. This time we had storm damage and asked for them to check it out. They sent out a young man that wouldn't give us information in person. He just wanted to text and email (which my husband doesn't have) instead of talking to us in person. He never called when he was asked by his office to do so. When we finally called him (for 3rd time) we got a quote for a whole new back roof of $25,0000. No estimate on the storm damage like we asked for. He was rude and not someone we could rely on to get the details needed. We had recommended Payne Roofing to 3 other people and all of them went elsewhere because of the way they were treated when getting estimates. Update: Brad from Payne changed my mind completely about this company and how customer service is executed properly. He took care of our insurance claim promptly and dealt directly with esurance, which is quite possibly the laziest insurance company in my experience. The roofing guys provided pricing with deep discounts but the value for the work, attention to detail and accountability / clean-up required but I believe these guys were subs. When I had mentioned to the Operations scheduler and estimator that there were issues, no one came back onsite to see what they were. Also, there was some work involving my A/C and a detached condensation pipe had not been reattached. Secondly, the only one who followed up was not their Operations guy but their only the delivery scheduler and the estimator. Principal leaks had been fixed but these guys are slightly above average at best. read more

Zac was one of the recommendations by the insurance Company. he gave an impressive digital estimate. The company was hired to do the job on half the roof. First and foremost we had to give 1/2 deposit and scheduling was a 2 months wait. The job day came, I was told they would be early, they were late and I asked Robert I had been waiting for him he shrugged his shoulders sarcastically, said "Uhmm its a Monday". he left a Mexican elderly gentleman to do the job and soon there after his wife came to help him. She later asked me for a ride because she had to leave the vehicle for him because he was laying tile at another job and would be there until 3 a.m. Taking this woman to her location alarmed me and was uneasy, as she told me that he was just out of prison and I was going back to my property. now the job was almost finished and I had a different colored shingle (lighter) on half my roof. No one asked me or told me that half the roof would be a different color. researching the matter it appears that the shingles were from a different manufacturer. now I have 2 colors on my roof and Zac nor the company will not respond. We did a kitchen remodel which involved tearing off the flat roof and reframing it at a elevated height. One call to Jason and he explained the whole process, then fit me in his schedule even though I gave him quite a short notice. The crew showed up when they said they would, and explained they would have to remove 3 skylights and mask the frames off to get the job done properly. Halfway through the job, I had to leave to take care of some business so I left them working. When I returned the job was all done and they had cleaned up the job site. The foam roofing they laid down is beautiful to look at and very tight and well done around all the transition points. I honestly could not be happier with the work they did; the professionalism and work ethic that Jason brings to the job is outstanding. read more

Do not use this roofer. I had them 'repair' a portion of my roof, only to find out a year later that they didn't seal it in to the rest of the existing roof - they essentially left a giant hole there. After 100+ gallons of water poured into my bedroom they gave me a hard time about coming out for a look and potentially tarping. I finally complained enough and got someone to come out who admitted fault and promised repairs to both the roof and interior, but weeks went by with no contact. After much more complaining the owner came by and promised the same things. They claim they fixed the roof but that can't be tested until next year's heavy rains, and they are now trying to half-ass the interior repairs because it would be "costly." I got several independent estimates of interior work and the roofer is again ignoring my messages and refusing to simply fix the mistake. read more

I strongly recommend NOT using Payne & Sons Roofing. We had nothing but problems. They didn't show up as scheduled, with no phone call as to why. We were constantly chasing them down to get the job done. What was to be a one day job extended to 8 days! They damaged all of our pool furniture, pool umbrella, patio gate, pavers, and left a mess behind when the job was finally done. I had to clean up their mess, which included hundreds of wood chips scattered throughout our yard, dozens of nails, some of which were in our pool! They damaged our ceiling and said they would repair it. After several attempts, I finally had to do it myself. The damage they caused is over $1000.00. The quality of their work is great. They finished the job yesterday and my new roof looks beautiful. Right color, straight even lines, great warranty. The crew showed up every day around 7 am and cleaned up entirely at the end of each day. Took 3 days total because I had a double layer of shingles. I had to take away one star because of the company's communication. I was continuously left out of the loop and was told they would get back to me in a couple of days....which they rarely did. When I paid the initial 50% payment, I had to call them on day 5 to find out my start date! Once they began I would see half finished projects with no explanation of when they would be completed or why my condensation line was cut in the first place. Why was a portion of decorative bead board and moulding on my patio missing? I was looking at bare particle board. They ultimately fixed everything. Bottom line: Payne started the job about a month early (due to a cancelation), finished early (3 days instead of 5), and left me with a beautiful new roof. read more

I recently found Payne and sons via HomeSmart/service magic. They had excellent reviews so I hired them for a small roofing and drywall project. I will say I am very impressed and beyond happy with the work. The repair was due to bad drainage and all the AZ rain we received last year. Jason was quick to respond and gave us a few options for the job. He thoroughly explained the pros and cons with the different materials etc. They compared well to other estimates we had as well. I read the other reviews on yelp and can only think that if you think you are the only customer a business has then you will always be disappointed. I was informed that once I accepted the bid late on a friday that I would be called on monday. This is totally reasonable and I did not have any issues with this information. The drywall was also done in a timely and professional manner. Juan did a fabulous job and even fixed a few other "issues" in the imperfection of the surrounding drywall! This company stands by its work. They did the roof on our shed a number of years ago. There was dry rot on the wood just under the flashing. They came out to give me an estimate. Geoff Payne decided that the flashing should have been put on so it covered the wood. They did the repairs at no charge. They did a great job. Their pricing is competitive and their quality is top notch. Stay away from this company, they are crooks!! Needed a new roof put on my garage because it was leaking and needed replaced. They replaced both patio roof and garage roof for around $8000. During the first light rain, I opened my garage and the floor is soaked and the drywall on the ceiling (that I just replaced) is again ruined in the same spot. I called and asked about the warranty, which they replied is for 10 years. I explained what happened and they said the guy that did the estimate no longer works here and the owner will be out to take a look. The owner arrived at the end of the week with a coworker and indicated all the seams would be replaced "just to be safe" and would return the following week. When they didn't return the following week..or the next week, I called the owner again on the phone number from his business card. He seemed confused on who I was or what job I was referring. So he told me to give him my contact info and said they office would contact me within the next week. So yet again another week gone by and no follow up with the owner or the office. (It's actually 2 weeks later than that now with no response) Not only did we pay $8000 for job that needs redone from the first light rain, which makes me question the quality of work in the first place, but to not have any idea who I was makes me question how many repairs on new installs they are actually doing. Now unfortunately I will probably be paying another company to fix their work. Save yourself the hassle and go with another roofing company. read more

I am very pleased with Payne Roofing's job they did replacing my entire roof back in May 2018. I own my home and live by myself and as a female, it can be intimidating to have multiple contractors come and give you rates and I'm always worried about being taken advantage of. I got several estimates and Payne's estimate was right in the middle of the others. But I got the best "vibe" from them and their staff. Easy and quick communication via email and I did take advantage of their 0% financing option for 12 months. Also, they cleaned up the mess very well. When my neighbor's roof was done (another company), the part of my backyard which was adjacent to the structure was littered with nails and shingles from the roof work. I have 2 dogs who would get a nail stuck in them for weeks when they would go outside - those things were hard to find and clean up! Save yourself some time, money, and frustrations and do NOT use Payne and Sons. From the very beginning it was difficult to get them to come out on time and finish the job completely without us having to call and speak to multiple people before being told what we agreed upon initially, would be an additional charge now. Furthermore, they damaged some of the seams in my walls with their pounding and refused to fix them so I have long seams between the drywall panels shown ever since. They also NEVER came back to clean up the rotted boards and we were forced to do it ourselves. Now the cherry on top, 5 years and 1 week later we have leaks in the EXACT SAME SPOT and they refuse to provide warranty work as it's outside of the 5 year warranty...Every other roofer I've talked to since has a longer warranty on their work and stands by it with pride. Obviously these guys would rather make the quick buck and don't care about working with you as a customer. I'm still in awe there was no offer of working towards a common goal and I was told "well it's out of warranty and we can have someone come out for a quote" no thanks, I'd rather pay someone else who will stand by their work, do it on time, properly fix the area for more than their warranty period, and actually treat their customers like neighbors or even just human beings going through a crazy world. Ryan from Payne Roofing came out to our home in Fountain Hills at the end of April to give us an estimate on new tile underlayment for our tile roof. Ryan explained things very professionally and offered three options for the type of work that needed to be done. The five gentlemen who came to do the work showed up on time and worked very hard, and cleaned up after themselves beautifully each day, and at the end of the job, as well. They even finished a day earlier than originally estimated! Rafael (the foreman, I believe?) and Conor, the production manager, were just terrific, as well, and kept in communication with us during the entire process, as well as when the job was finished, to ensure that there were no issues or anything that we found unsatisfactory. I was referred to Jason when I was working with a home inspector and needed additional details on the roof. We reached out to schedule an inspection on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. Jason personally answered my call and ensured that someone was out by Tuesday morning. Ryan completed the inspection and, after emailing the report, took extra time to walk though all his findings and answer all my questions. He did a very thorough job and provided all the details we needed. We will definitely work with Payne when we schedule the minor repairs required and later, when we are ready to replace our roof. read more

I contacted Payne and Sons regarding some leaks in my roof. They sent someone out a week later to give me a bid. I waited almost t week before I received the bid. Although I was not happy with the slowness of receiving the bid, I accepted it, and was then told that they couldn't schedule the work for a month because they were so busy. The work was scheduled for Nov. 25th, on Nov. 24th I called the company to confirm that they would be there the next day to do the work, and they assured me they would. They were supposed to arrive between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. When they did not arrive by 10:00, I called the company again to find out what was going on, and they said they would call me back, but didn't for another half hour. Finally Jayson Payne called and said "one of his guys mistakenly thought the work was scheduled for the 26th (even though I called to confirm the 25!) The workers finally arrived around 11:00 to do the job. When it rained a week later, my roof leaked AGAIN, so I called the company and told them, since the work was supposedly warrantied for 5 years. They said they'd call me back to let me know when someone would come out to check the leak. No one called for 5 days so I called again, and they said they would call me the next day, but never did. BEWARE of this company! Payne and Sons is not a reputable company and does not stand by it's work. I would not recommend this company to anyone! read more

I would love to give this company some kind of review but after scheduling us for an afternoon on a Saturday, waiting for them, calling them and getting no return call, apology or explanation, I can say Payne and Sons is a pain. Not a good way to start with a new customer. read more
